I scheduled a hair cut appointment as a new client with Damien including services with my three friends. The service was amazing! He was very fast and efficient. He cut all our hairs and was able to give us the styles we wanted. We also came before the holidays so all the mirrors were decorated for a holiday decoration contest which was super cute. The price for the hair cut was a decent price. They also had goo service. They ask if we needed any water while waiting and also I noticed they had a bunch of hair products to purchase. My son and I were extremely disappointed with the service, lack of respect, accountability and unprofessionalism from both the hair stylist and the staff at RKS hair salon at 2212 K street, Midtown, Sacramento. One of the hair stylists (Salvador) was highly recommended and my son was looking forward to having his hair cut after 8 years of growing it for donation for the third time, to children with Alopecia. The salon staff was aware we take care of all donation responsibilities. I stopped by to make appt and find out the logistics as I had never been there and the from office staff was not pleasant, at the time I thought perhaps she was having a challenging day and didn't think much of it (on hindsight I should have stopped there). She told me we would have to call to make the appts as the stylist makes his own schedule. My son, who is 18, called and made two appt about a week apart, one for a consultation And a second one for the hair cut/styling. Two days prior to the first appt, the hair salon staff called my son's phone to apparently cancel the appt and DID NOT leave a message. I had to rearrange my schedule and my son missed school to be there at the time that it was good for Salvador, and to our surprise, the appt was cancelled. The front office staff did not take any responsibility for the mistake, claiming that they had left a voice mail. In fact they had left only noise on my son's voice mail. We asked her for contact the stylist to assess if he could find 10 min fo a consult before the second appt; they communicated through text and she said "no". At This point we decided to keep the second appt and in the worse case, he would have his pony tail cut and send sent for donation. My son and I were in disbelief about the lack of professionalism and I proceed to tell the front office I was disappointed and that's not a way to keep customers and run a responsible business. She simply looked at me saying "nothing". I told her that saying "sorry" would have been a good place to start, take responsibility for their mistake, and try to rectify the problem." And wished her a good day. Not to our surprise honestly, a few days prior to the second appt for the hair cut, the hair stylist (Salvador) CANCELED the appt AGAIN, this time stating he does not cut the hair of minors. My son, told me and I said to thought: "this is probability an excuse he found to cancel the appt", and my son said "I will tell him I still would like to keep the appt as I am not a minor" and send Salvador a message saying he could keep the appt as he is 18. Of course there was NO ANSWER, silence again, avoidance and unprofessional behavior by the stylist. I'm certain we will find a more professional stylist who is willing to give my 18 year old son a hair cut after so many years of growing his hair and caring for it for donation. Be aware of this place and of this stylist unprofessional behavior. read more

Didn't look anything like that picture and I was afraid if I said anything more hair would get cut off making it would worse! If stylists can't cut short hair, they shouldn't. I have been coming to this spot for years, even through the rebrand and move to this particular location. First and foremost I am so happy that they moved here. The layout, the design, I love it and I am sure that you will too. Make sure you stop by any of the local coffee shops right down the street and grab a snack and a cup before your appointment. You'll want to experience the whole midtown vibe that RKS has going on. The staff is always so nice and friendly. The front desk team always meets me with a smile and they always seem to remember who I am (or they take really good notes) either way, a win from me. I have been going to Kate Kons for years. She is my curly hair guru and I cannot recommend anybody else in town that can handle curly haircuts like she can. The team here offers so many options for stylists and their expertise that you really cannot go wrong coming here. Make sure that before you leave though you check out the front sopping/hair care area. Often times you'll be able to find small locally own craft shops who are setting up their ADORABLE things for sale. And trust me you won't want to miss out on a locally made gift for the next upcoming holiday. read more

Highly unprofessional this past two weeks., IF you are trying to schedule a hair appointment. They were ok. I went at least 3 times., in the past 3 years. Christina was good. Another hair stylist was good. WHEN and why are we living in a period of time, where the client needs to be approved??? and the deposit?? maybe acceptable with people not showing up, but still not very kind and pleasant admin./front desk. I was told last week that a hair stylist that would take me would call me. No call. 3 days later I called back. 3 days later, still no call back. This morning I called back, to be told, that I was not approved. Simply trying to save quality people, this frustration., especially with respect, to an important special life event that you may have upcoming, and to hear this at the last minute, when the front desk, scheduled me for this Wednesday, and don't call and tell me I have not been approved?? after being scheduled. SUPER UNFORTUNATE AND UNPROFESSIONAL ON ALOT OF LEVELS. Save yourself the stress of this Hair Salon. With SO many hair places, there have to be some still, that are happy to be hair stylists. read more

I recently had a color service with Ivan, he took my inspiration picture and elevated it to the next level. What I appreciated was his honesty regarding if something didn't suit my facial structure or complexion. Parking is easy, I found street parking right out front. Getting a balayage was something I had gone to multiple salons for, and because they were always done well I assumed it was a standard hair technique that anyone could do. Unfortunately, I left this salon with hair nothing like the inspiration pictures I had shown Ivan. My biggest concern was the orangey color from grown out balayage. And even after two sessions of toning, I left brassy. The color would not have concerned me as much if it was blended properly. I can see why he never gave me a mirror to check out the back of my head... the color was done in chunks. On top of all of this the receptionist couldn't be bothered to look up when I walked in and when I left. Don't come here if you have a simple balayage in mind and want it to look like the pictures you show for inspiration. read more
