Borderline rude, but kinda nice about it. She was scolding me during our phone call when I made the appointment. Already getting riled up that I'd be late for my appointment. I let it go, cause I've seen her work and it's good. I arrived a couple minutes early, since punctuality seemed to be her ticking point. Lo and behold, she was about 8 minutes late. I don't care, again. Not bothered. I coughed, into the corner of my elbow as I was getting up from the couch. After she said hi, she immediately blurred out "are you sick" with a furrow in her brow. I told her no, that I choked on the iced coffee I was sipping on from the E-bar. She definitely didn't look like she believed me, but I didn't really care. I love her bed set up, even for eyebrows. It's half bed, half lounger. It's awesome. She was quick, diligent, and efficient. Convo was minimal. She did ask who referred me to her. But other than that, I don't think we spoke much. At completion, she sat me up and then I walked to the large mirror to see her work. It was great. She reminded me, even though I was grabbing it, to take my coffee. She is very particular. Very. The pricing is average with Sacramento, $20 for eyebrow waxing. She works Tuesday through Saturday. But don't worry, they recently hired a part time employee to cover Sundays and Mondays at the salon. This is a great back up to my regular girl. I'm willing to put up with her not so pleasant attitude for her skilled eyebrow workmanship. Something about her, just didn't seem nice... That's about the best way to put it. The Spa is just one little tiny room located on the third floor of Nordstrom at Arden Fair directly across from the women's lounge. Blink and you'll miss it. Her facials are truly amazing as she's been at this location since this Nordstrom opened almost 20 years ago. Since she's a one person shop sometimes it's a little bit of a challenge getting an appointment. If you found out today that you just got invited to a big event tomorrow and you needed that extra little sparkle.....well, that might be tough. But she does get cancellations and is always happy to squeeze you in when she can. Her facials last about an hour give or take and include a short back massage, hand massage and foot moisturizing treatment. The cost is $95. Parking is a breeze with the attached parking garage. I've had a few facials in my day but Gabriela's are the best. I actually had someone comment after one of her treatments that my skin was glowing. Can't get better than that!

(If you want to know, you'll have to go in and ask her!! ;) Anyway, I will first say that the service she provides is very unique based on the product line that she uses -- which is all natural and is based on whole fruits, vegetables and spices. So natural that you want to eat the stuff she puts on your face! (Ok, I did take just a tiny little lick. Delicious.) She gives an awesome facial and head, neck shoulders massage too! The salon is beautiful and relaxing, and you'll never want to leave! Only things that have kept me from going back ... 1. The cost 2. I got charged for an hour and a half treatment when it was only one hour long due to the fact she was not ready when I got there for my appointment. I wanted to say something, but didn't, so in that respect, it's kind of my fault! Maybe I'll go back again and ask her about it ... I'll give an update if I do.

However the DAY OF my birthday Derra informs us that she is unable to show up and cancelled. She said she had an injury, which may have been true but she didn't even call. She just sent one of my friends an email at around 1 AM. That was that. So we rescheduled. But she didn't have a number for anyone to call so we had to interact via email. I tried to reschedule with her, but doing so was extremely confusing via email, we couldn't find a time that worked for both of us through the week so I scheduled it for another Saturday. I arranged for a baby sitter for my son, cleared my schedule and got excited for the appointment again. However, once again, THE MORNING OF, Derra emails me and tells me that she still hasn't received payment for the service (even though I confirmed with her 48 hours prior and she said we were set) and therefore I would either have to fork over the $150 myself or reschedule again. At that point I was livid and told her that her services are no longer desired. I am a stay at home mother, I don't get to have many days for me and this was going to be a way for me to finally relax and pamper myself. However due to Derra's mind blowing unprofessionalism and lack of proper communication it just turned into a day of extreme frustration. I am dazzled by how good of an esthetician she is said to be - that's all good and very well. But I honestly think when businesses take advantage of people by offering severely lack-luster customer service it tarnishes the entire experience. I would recommend you save yourself the incredible hassle of dealing with her (for lack of a better word) ghetto customer service and go with a place who has a better knack for dealing with clients.
