Chicken teriyaki lunch box (available until 2pm)

Wow , very happy I stumbled upon this place. It is beautiful inside modern yet also has cute Japanese booths! I've only been here once but based off of the experience it was very positive and I will be back. First of all the entire staff greets you when you walk in and greet you goodbye. Service was prompt and food came out fast. The food itself was amazing! First of all a lot of sushi places really disappoint me when it comes to their chicken teriyaki but the chicken tasted great, was fully cooked and not soggy or dry. The gyoza was delicious. This was the most filling lunch box I've had in a while. FULL portions. Tempura had a nice fresh batter on it. I can't wait to come back and try more menu items. Best chicken teriyaki!

I'm on a quest to find a good Japanese restaurant in South Surrey. This was my first stop - close to home. I will not be back unless I'm desperate. It's not that the food was that bad, it's just that I have to believe there is much better elsewhere - I have had much better outside of South Surrey. Firstly, the tamago (for my daughter) was dried out. Also...they didn't know what tamago is. It's egg. I had to order sweet egg. Secondly, they're not Japanese. Not that it's a big deal - though I challenge anyone to find me a non-Japanese owned excellent sushi joint. Thirdly, it's pricey for what you get. I got a oyako don - had to order that as chicken don. And a Tiger roll. Now, this whole funky/specialty roll business is new to me. You venture to Richmond and you rarely find specialty rolls - at least I never have. These tiger rolls, dragon rolls, giant-mouth-stretching-mess-making-gimicky-rolls are not Japanese. The tiger roll though, was edible and actually not all that bad. I'd actually try the other rolls IF they didn't cost me my left arm. At $11 for 6 pieces (albeit large), it's not worth it. The chicken don was $7 but small. About 6-7 pieces of chicken covered is thick, processed teriyaki sauce. Lots of semi-cooked vegetable and a small portion of rice. I had a look at their sashimi. Not appetizing so I wasn't willing to take a flyer on it but judging by the rest of their fare, I can't imagine I'd be missing much. The good points, miso soup for all. They do cater to kids....they brought a straw for my daughters 'cool' green tea. Nice touch since I didn't even ask for either.

Used the be a favourite but something has changed and the quality has suffered. I can't even finish my meal. Going to be a long day

Food was fantastic - High quality. My son and I enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Service was great. Booths a bit old and hard but nothing we couldn't overlook.

Sashimi from Lunch Box Set, look the size, and so fresh too!

Menu: Chawan mushi - steamed egg custard with vegetable(bean, shimeji mushroom) and seafood(shrimp and slice of fish) Ankimo - Monkfish Liver with seasonal seafood(scallop and shrimp) Grilled black cod, with saikyo miso and marinated blue fin tuna and cooked egg. Tenpura - seafood (slice of fish, seafood stuffed vegetable and vegetable(shiitake) 9 pieces of sushi Daily miso soup - clam Dessert - kinako and mitarashi dango Chawan mushi was great. I can taste fish based broth and egg custard was very silky and smooth. Decent amount of ingredients sush as shrimp, slice of fish , bean and shimeji mushroom. I wish they served it slightly cooler than too hot. Ankimo - Great item. Monkfish liver was rich and paired with scallop and shrimp so well. Sauce was just ok. Grilled black cod was another great item. Crispy and juicy, just perfectly done. Blue fine tuna was covered by salty marinated sauce which was great when wrapped with seaweed. Cooked egg was just ok Tenpura - Seafood stuffed vegetable was my favorite. Others were also decent. Highlight and stand out item was 9 pieces of sushi. Honmaguro(bluefine tuna) was good. Shari(sushi rice) was nicely seasoned with vinegar, very mild and which I liked it. Tuna was delicious. Sea breem(MADAI) was another good piece. Delicious. Aburi Toro was nicely seared. I wish this item could be a bit more softer and buttery, but it was still good. Akaebi(red shrimp) and Hokkaido sea urchin - Lightly torched the top of sea urchin and its smokiness brought out more sweetness flavor of Akaebi(red shrimp) Hokkaido Scallop - Very smooth, soft and nice texture. Delicious. Kinmedai(Gold eye snapper) -- My favorite. Texture was very soft and chewy, It was great item. Hokkaido sea urchin - Actually, this one was just ok. I wish it could be more creamy. Unagi - One of the best item. It was so fluffy and soft right after chef cooked and served. This is a must try item. Daily miso soup with clam - I can taste fish broth (dashi) flavor so well. Clam was delicious. It was good. Dessert - Kinako coated mitarashi dango -It was nicely chewy and soft. I wish there were more sauce on it. Overall, it worth visiting this place. The only problem is that so hard to get a reservation. Hopefully, I can get next reservation, may be next year.

We love Japanese cuisine so I decided to surprise the hubby with an omakase for his birthday in January. Unfortunately, they have a 6-month wait and I was not prepared so I ended up booking it for our anniversary in May. The food was phenomenal and delicious! I love the chawanmushi loaded with goodies inside. The ankimo (monkfish liver) dish was so tasty with the scallop and prawn. Black cod was cooked to perfection! The nigiris are all so fresh. We quickly put ourselves on the waiting list for after September so we can come here again soon! There's a parking lot just next door. The place inside is small and intimate. Service is great!

Food arrived after 15-20 minutes. Didn't enjoy the appetizer sashimi. The temperatures were warm. Working in quality assurance in the seafood industry made it extremely difficult for me to be satisfied. Prawn tempura and agedashi tofu were delicious. Chicken katsu was dry. Beef teriyaki was excellent. Lots of indoor seating. Modern decor. Clean. It would be better if you assign servers to specific table. We had 3 different servers come to our table and we had 2 extra miso soup. We had 2 different servers ask the same questions a few times. All in all, good experience.

Pretty brave if you ask me for a special occasion but it turned out well. The started out around six o'clock on a Sunday for dinner so it was pretty early. I did let them know that their google place pin was in the wrong place and sending customers in the wrong direction...oops! The food was good, smaller portions and a little pricey. Tasty tho, they had my favourite Oshi Saba, my partner's; negintoro, spicy chops scallop roll and for main he had the vegetable udon and I had the Pork Katsu. Good food, nice atmosphere, be prepared to spend a little more.

The variety or options on their all you can eat menu is very limited but the quality makes up for it. I came with a friend and her son. Her son is 12 years old. If you have a kid remember to bring ID or some sort of proof of age to try the all you can eat. One thing to note is that there is a limit on the sashimi which is 10 per person. The kid doesn't have sashimi. But again it is $1 per age of the kid. The food here was very delicious. The sashimi was a bit on the small end but it was ok. They have prawn tempura in their AYCE menu. I came here for lunch so it was only $32 per person which was not bad. I like how you order through an IPad so there is no trying to get a hold of a server. Overall, I recommend this place for AYCE.

The restaurant is in the middle of the long building on the S side of the parking lot. Parking is plentiful in the strip mall lot. No problems at all. The inside is quite pretty. Feels like an outdoor patio in Asia, with the wooden pergolas and fake cherry blossoms. Special mention. Staff are friendly. No complaints. They have a regular menu, but my buddy and I were here for allyoucaneat. They have a lunch and dinner menu, but no late nite. Last call is 30 minutes before closing, so don't come too late in the evening. Sushi here is quite fresh. Selection is not the largest, but it's pretty decent. The one glaring thing that stood out is that other than chicken/beef teriyaki, there are no hot food items (skewers, karaage, ribs etc.). I'm not going to hold this against them, but it's definitely something to keep in mind before showing up. On the other hand, there is no limit for the ice cream scoops at the end. Beautiful. They have chocolate and vanilla. Worth checking out if one is in the area. Recommended.
