    Excellent sushi
    G T.

The Sushi was extremely fresh and the service was pleasant. This place is definitely a hidden Jem.

    This is Dynamite Roll.

I have been eating in or taking out from Sushi Boss for more than 3 years. But recently the quality of their rolls have been consistently disappointing. The rolls always fall apart. The ingredients are different from the menu. Sometimes I thought maybe they were having a busy night. But when I walked into the restaurant, there was nobody. I am not going back anymore. You can get better sushi from grocery stores.

This place is absolutely amazing! You must try it out. The stuff is extremely friendly and the food is exceptionally fresh. You cannot go wrong with this place

Delicious and affordable! I try and stop by when ever I'm close by. Very fresh and great selection. They also give you a salad to start and it is perfect! If you love sushi then I would highly recommend checking this place out. Yum yum!

Gyoza and Salad Appetizer (on the house)

"I like that I can fit them in my mouth. Everything is in bite size pieces. Put that in your review." I went to Sushi Boss tonight with two friends. The decision was largely based on the glowing reviews on Yelp, Urbanspoon, and Google. The photos and menu looked appealing and reasonably priced for this style of cuisine. We arrived there around 7PM and it was relatively empty. Though all the tables seemed for two patrons, the waitress quickly pushed the tables together. I do not know if this would have been a problem if it was busier, but it worked out this time. The waitress was pleasant and the service was quick. As soon as we had placed our order, she came back with a free dish that include salad, fresh fruit, and gyoza. The appetizers that we had ordered, veggie gyoza and ebi sunomono, arrived quickly after. The veggie gyoza was a great deal for $3.50 as it was tasty and relatively sizable. The ebi sunomono was light and fresh tasting. Though I generally prefer the dish to be a little more tart, this one was still good and the addition of strawberries was an interesting touch. The only complaint that I had was that the prawns were a little too rubbery. One of my companions ordered the salmon mango roll. This item turned out to be the highlight of the meal. While mango and salmon sounded like a strange combination, the flavours were perfect. This would be the item that my friend would return for, without question. He also ordered the spicy combo which included a spicy dynamite roll, spicy tuna roll, and spicy tuna sashimi. The spicy dynamite roll was an enlightening experience. The tempura batter was notably good and even though the roll was just a generic roll with the spicy sauce on top, it was well worth it. The spicy tuna roll was also very good. The spicy tuna sashimi left something to be desired though. While my companion had a decent outlook on it, I found that the fish was much too cold. It was almost as though it had recently been frozen and had not thawed properly. Though the spicy sauce was delectable, the temperature was enough to put me off. My other companion had a spicy tuna roll and a smoked salmon roll. The former was, as noted, very good. The smoked salmon roll was pretty average though. We agreed that it was the least tasty roll that we ordered. It was not exactly bad, but it was not the same quality as the other dishes. Further, there was too much rice on it. Finally, I ordered the salmon K roll which was a spicy salmon roll with spicy salmon on top. It was not as spicy as I anticipated it would be, but it was nonetheless incredible. It had a sweet element which made for an interesting balance with the spicy sauce. I would order this again. Bottom line, this place provides quick and efficient service. The food is well priced and very tasty. The decor is clean and the background music was pleasant. I would recommend this to Coquitlam residents. It is not the kind of restaurant you go out of your way to visit, but it is perfect if you are local.

The restaurant is spacious and cozy. For each table there is a tablet for ordering. I ordered a Soy Chicken Karaage Donburi as it looked delicious on the menu pics. The rice bowl came with miso soup. The donburi looked good with sufficient portion for a strong man. It was tasty, however as I kept eating the soy chicken karaage got more and more salty. Finally I couldn't have anymore. I finished the rice and it was well cooked. I drank two cups of tea after having the donburi. I didn't try other dishes, perhaps I will give them a try when I come here next time. I do hope the chef could make it less salty. Apart from that, service was fine and the ambient was quiet and tidy.

sometimes the best dinners are the ones you don't plan…read more our party of five ended up at mika sushi on a saturday for an impromptu dinner and a chance to catch up. the restaurant was lively without feeling chaotic, with a bright, modern dining room, high ceilings, warm wood finishes, comfortable booths, and an open sushi bar where you can catch glimpses of the chefs at work. it felt casual, welcoming, and easy to settle into for a relaxed evening. the hardest part wasn't finding a table...it was deciding what to order. the menu is extensive, with pictures of a variety of sushi, sashimi, specialty rolls, bentos, noodles, donburi, and plenty of vegan friendly options. i spent far longer than i'd like to admit staring at the menu before finally ordering the "my favourite combo." for $24.95, you get to choose four items, which turned out to be a great value. i went with the tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi, dynamite roll, and a negitoro cone. my order initially came out with negitoro maki instead of the cone, but it was quickly corrected with an apology, which i appreciated. everything arrived looking fresh and nicely presented. the tuna and salmon sashimi were thickly sliced, buttery, and fresh, exactly what i was hoping for. the negitoro cone was generously filled with chopped tuna and green onions, and the nori still had a nice crisp snap to it. the dynamite roll was probably my least favourite of the four. i was surprised to find a slightly soggy piece of yam tempura tucked in with the prawn tempura, crab, and avocado. i'm not sure if that's normally part of the roll or if it was added by mistake, but it wasn't something i was expecting from a dynamite roll. i also would have liked the prawn tempura to be crispier. it was missing that satisfying crunch you'd normally expect from a dynamite roll. it wasn't a deal breaker, and i didn't mention it to our server, but it just wasn't the standout dish for me. one thing i appreciated was that the portions were generous without being over the top. i left feeling comfortably full and never once questioned whether the combo was worth the price. with such a large menu, there's something for just about everyone, including plenty of vegan friendly options, making it an easy place to bring a group with different tastes. unlike some japanese restaurants where everyone shares dishes, mika sushi feels more like a place where each person orders exactly what they're craving. between the fresh sashimi, generous portions, reasonable prices, and relaxed atmosphere, mika sushi delivered exactly what we were looking for that evening. was every bite perfect? not quite. but the food was fresh, the value was excellent, and spending a few hours catching up with family made it a night well spent. sometimes the best dinners really are the ones you don't plan.

When a staff did, she re-asked everybody what the name was on each order. That's when they finally got things going on the orders.
