I've been driving by this place for a while now as I'm often in Highland Park on business and for pleasure ~ I grabbed my Foodie Bestie and we headed out last night to try them out! Awesome experience ! We tried two rounds of their oysters .. Fresh and delicious! We also had their Sicilian Artichokes and the fish (Cod) baked in paper ..EVERYTHING was superb.. The fish came with this creamy ..buttery risotto style rice that was to die for ! Our waitress was super cool and explained the menu to us as we had a few questions. We couldn't really chat because it was so loud. The Caesar salad was probably one of the worst things we had ever eaten. It's not a typical Caesar. The greens were bitter greens. The tuna dish we got was also not good. We don't hardly touch it. The good: the oysters were so good and very fresh. The vinegar sauce they came with was so delicious. The trout dish was the highlight of we scraped the plate clean. It was so good. I would come back just for that dish alone. The dessert was really good as well. I had one of the best dirty martinis I have ever had. It was so delicious and can't beat the happy hour price Overall: I would come back and sit outside. Stopped by on a Friday around 5 p.m. and had a mixed experience. The hush puppies were absolutely delicious. Crispy, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the meal. The oysters were also excellent. They were fresh, briny, and exactly what we were hoping for. The tostada was another favorite with great flavor and texture. The only misses for me were the icy crudo and the chicory Caesar salad. The fish in the crudo was fresh, but it was overdressed with too many competing flavors that kept the fish from standing out. The chicory Caesar salad was the biggest disappointment. It was very mint forward and didn't have the classic flavors of a Caesar at all. I don't mind a creative interpretation, but this didn't taste like a Caesar salad whatsoever. Overall, the quality of the seafood was excellent - not sure if I'd come back though due to the inconsistency amongst the meal. read more

Let me tell you that this quaint spot is a definite vibe. Highly recommend making a reservation so you can sit and chill for as long as you can take in the ambience. The staff are great! We didn't have a reservation but they were able to accommodate us. We thought we'd eat and run but behind their advise they sat us in the patio so we can take our time and enjoy the food and the establishment. The food let me tell you it is delicious. Great flavor at every bite. On a scale of one to ten I'll say this place is off the scale. Located in my old stomping grounds and although a lil hipster it's definitely a place you cannot avoid. Put this on you date night list and come check out the place. It's like taking a trip back east without leaving HLP. I'll definitely be back and will share a new review when we try something new. They have a wine list, cocktails, and desert although I was too busy writing this review that I didn't take a pic of the desert menu. I'll leave that to you to post when you write your review. Salad). Super balanced, fresh, & memorable. The lobster roll didn't wow me, and the burger didn't wow my husband either. Not bad -- just not something we'd rush back for. To be transparent it's a solid local spot in NELA & for it being in HLP, it holds its own. As NELA residents we definitely approve it for an oyster fix. QRB has been on my radar since it opened. I finally had a chance to check it out before meeting up with friends for a late lunch on a sunny Saturday afternoon. As the sister restaurant to Found Oyster and the latest hot spot, Hermon's, my hopes were high. Inside is charming with a quaint, cozy atmosphere. (There is also an outside patio area.) I sat at the bar, which is lovely and takes center stage. The star of the show here are the sustainably sourced raw oysters and clams, which are shucked fresh daily. Bobby and the other lady behind the bar were both friendly and delightful. I enjoyed conversing with them as did the other patrons. On my way in I saw the sign that said, $10 martinis and white wine till 6 pm every day, which is a great deal on the weekends since they open at noon. There is no way I am passing up a $10 martini. I was also happy to see that they offered blue cheese olives. Since the martini was $10 I didn't mind paying an extra dollar for the olive. However, it wasn't hand stuffed, but it was still good. The martini was served ice cold and was lovely. In addition to fresh seafood, menu offerings feature Southern Specialties such as Hushpuppies, Pimento Cheese Sandwiches, & Derby Pie. Their pimento cheese is made in house and if I weren't going to lunch, I would have ordered that with a side of Hushpuppies and a slice of the Derby Pie. The parking lot that they share with other businesses is tiny, but it seemed like street parking isn't too difficult--we went at a very off hour and snatched a spot in the lot. Food/service/ambience all were great. Everything tasted fresh, and I love places that offer happy hour drinks, especially since dining out costs so much nowadays. I went for the happy hour drinks, but my husband ordered a cocktail that he thought was super stiff--I personally think most cocktails are way too weak given how expensive they are, so I was quite pleased to hear his drink was worth the money. What a fantastic find! Even without reservations, they seated us almost immediately at the bar. The staff was incredibly attentive and courteous--we had a wonderful experience! The food- our favorite was the caesar chicory salad, the oysters ( Morrow Bay), pimento sandwiches (sliders); the lobster roll and fish with rice were also excellent. The restaurant is pretty and there are outside tables and the inside tables. Their food was kind of plain and the service was below the average. The server said she would bring an extra glass of water but never did so I asked it again about 30 minutes later. The location is okay. Some parking spaces in the building and some street parking place. What I found most frustrating was the mandatory healthcare charge. Why are customers expected to pay for restaurant employees' healthcare? Who pays for the customers' healthcare? I've seen similar charges at other restaurants, but they usually remove it upon request. This restaurant refused to do so. If it's not optional, it should be clearly disclosed upfront. It feels unfair to force customers to pay this without prior notice. read more

This place is my favorite. Took the place of old Water Grill yet, it is so much more. Everything was delicious. Stone crab, buttermilk hot sauce, very good oysters, perfect mignonette, flawless freezing $10 martinis and Carolina Gold rice, roast artichoke and incredible toasted bread, salted butter and luscious white anchovies luxuriating in ultra-fine olive oil. Glasses of Grand Cru Champaign and, yep, pimento cheese and micro-pickle sandwiches and roast artichokes to wind down. A killer strawberry Sunday with top of the line vanilla to seal the deal. Came here on a recommendation from a friend. We did not have reservations, but came early enough. We were able to get a table inside. The hostess was friendly and accommodating for our family of 4. Service- 5 Our server was great, but it was the second server we had named Hook that really took care of us. I cannot remember when the last time I had such service. Food 5 -we ordered several menu items so just a couple of stand outs to touch on. I think you cannot come to Queens without ordering the point break platter, which is an array of oysters and other seafood offerings. Delicious!! Another standout is the pimento cheeseburger. I think pimento is my new favorite cheese! There are a few pimento offerings, so when you go, you must try one of them!! I live in Long Beach and Queens is in Los Angeles so the drive is a little tough, but if I lived in the neighborhood, I would love to stop and have a bowl of soup with a pimento cheese sandwich once a week. Simple sounding but I am drooling thinking about it now. Maybe I would come on a Monday since it's $10 Martini Mondays. Soooooo Good! I came with a family for dinner and knew this was a neighborhood spot for the couple I was with. We did have reservations for a Thursday night, and the restaurant filled up pretty well (both inside and the patio areas) throughout the time we were there. I feel like we ordered just about everything on the menu and all of it was delicious! I had some of the tuna tostados, the crab Louie, oysters (one of each of the daily options), the crudo, and the queens salad. The crudo and tuna tostados were my favorite of the appetizers! The melon and grapefruit pair with the halibut for the crudo was unexpected but so tasty and a wonderful flavor profile! For the main, I split the tuna frites (I think was what it was called) and it was really good! The sauce is what really made the dish though, the ponzu really elevated the overall dish. All of the fish was super fresh, very well prepared, and the dishes were thoughtfully curated. I really enjoyed my meal here! I did, however, get talked into my first martini ever. I didn't want to disappoint the waitress or server but dang was it strong haha I might have to stick to tequila-based drinks. Though I am glad I went out of my comfort zone to try! The best part of this restaurant was my super cute bartender Caed. and he made my experience wonderful. I am 82 years old and this is one of my first reviews on yelp. Amazing! I was a little nervous about the patio but its really nice out there, and very dog-friendly. The food is a little pricey but everything was excellent. The $95 (!) tray was worth every penny -- I really loved the anchovies with olives. The chicken dish is great too. We had a reservation for 2 on a Tuesday at 5 PM. The parking lot is extremely small, just 4 or 5 spots in a plaza with other shops. I didn't see valet and I assume there's street parking, so plan ahead! For dinner, we ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell (6 Vinland and 6 Savage Blonde), the Halibut Crudo, the Grilled Bub's Bread with Good Butter and a side of anchovies, Broiled California Black Cod, and French Fries. To drink, we tried the Queen's Ghia Ginger Spritz and the Low Tide. The oysters were sweet and briny, the crudo was super fresh and lively with beautifully balanced flavors, and the fries were perfectly crisp and seriously addictive. Everything we had was clearly prepared with care. One thing to note: there's a 4% restaurant fee automatically included on the check. Only as we finished did I realize Queen's Raw Bar and Grill is from the same team behind Found Oyster, which makes perfect sense given the relaxed vibe and excellent seafood. I'm already thinking about my next visit and who I'm bringing with me. 10/10 would definitely eat here again! read more

Have been coming here since it opened, maybe once every 8-12 weeks. While it's normally consistent, I had a pretty disappointing experience recently. The fish in paper is my go to, it's wonderful. I ended up swallowing 2-3 bones from the halibut and picking out about 4-5 more before I gave up. I was really bummed. I know how to filet a fish and these weren't like tiny pin bones either. The staff watched me cough one out and pick out the others and did nothing about it when they asked me if I wanted a box for leftovers. Overall I think the quality of the seafood is excellent. I love that they serve New England oysters that are properly shucked. However the service seems to have declined recently and it is WILDLY expensive to have a mediocre experience. Most negative reviews were about service, which seems to no longer be an issue. Oysters were exceptionally fresh while halibut crudo and mackeral tartare were innovatively flawless. You can tell the crab soup stock was made from tons of seafood and healed the soul after our hike. $10 martinis before 6pm is a deal despite most other items being overpriced. My honest opinion about the place 3 out of 5 . Oysters were good clean, martini can't bet 10 bucks . Although I was there for the special they still charged me the 16 bucks for one of the Martinis I got. Burger was for sure a banger. I'd go back for that for sure . Had the fresh curdo that was amazing . But the lobster roll omg the lobster roll idk where to begin it was no good at all . The taste was so lemony, it was on a plain hotdog roll that was grilled mark and there was so much celery in it. For 50 bucks sorry queens but not worth it . I was something off a kids menu . That really made my experience there also I felt like I was getting rushed out servers kept coming back asking if I wanted a box to go . I spend good money there to be rushed out . I think if they had a better lobster roll worth the 50 bucks and not getting rushed out I would have gave them a 5 . But man the lobster roll I can't tell you more it's not worth the 50 bucks I took one bite of it and that's it I couldn't eat it after that . But to each their own . read more

I celebrated a special occasion with my partner at Queen's, which caught her eye when she looked for places that served oysters. Had to say we enjoyed our time here! Food was great and Nico's service definitely boosted the experience. Our food came in courses, with intention by the staff. I'm not someone who measures a restaurant by the size of its portions and I'm always happy to throw down for a good meal, but there's a real disconnect at Queen's between the food and the price, at least for the shellfish entrees. My cold platter had 8 ho-hum shelled shrimp, 2 tiny anchovies the size of the ones from a tin, 8 good oysters, and a saucer of excellent mackerel tartar - for $93. For the same price I could have ordered three dozen+ fresh oysters at Fishwives (https://www.fishwives.com/oysters). The pimento cheese sandwich was as awful as the ones of my youth in Texas (I ordered it just to verify the old memory), the hush puppy was flavorless, and the gf did not finish her lobster roll, which was a lifetime first. Maybe we're just not nuts about the weird seasonings that define South Carolina seafood. We'll go again and try one of the hot fish entrees, but maybe we'll go to Musso's in the meantime, drop the same kind of money, and have a more memorable evening. Great service though. We went all in and ordered 24 oysters, scallop crudo, caviar, shrimp cocktail, tuna tostada, fish in paper with rice, and the hanger steak... and every single dish was incredible. The seafood was fresh, beautifully prepared, and packed with flavor. The scallop crudo and oysters were standout favorites, and the hanger steak was cooked perfectly. The service was truly impeccable -- attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they care about the experience as much as the food. Not sure why this is a like but not love. Food is pretty good. A dozen oysters were well-shucked. If I recall correctly, the mignonette has a bit of heat to it. Summer succotash was a lovely vegetable dish though there was a lot of bacon for my taste. I'm in the minority there. I expected the broiled cod dish to be something similar to a Nobu miso glazed cod. I was surprised to see it topped with toasty breadcrumbs. The rice underneath was giving a loose broken rice risotto. The dining room was full the whole time I was there. The serving staff were nice and left this solo diner alone for the perfect amount of time. The street parking is a little tough. The food is a bit pricy but it speaks to the quality. read more

This is a serious f'ing restaurant, kitchen and FOH, that also happens to be a neighborhood spot. It is special. For a celebratory lunch or a wonderful dinner, the raw bar (oysters and tower situation is on par with any elite LA seafood), the strong small plates and salads (pristine lettuces.. Gildas?!) plus delicious, on-point southern inflected mains.. and a legit wine selection (natural, considered) plus the coldest martini.. this is a banger. In a town of image and vibes, Queen's is a real mf-ing restaurant. The kitchen is doing elite level cooking and service is tops. I'm a huge fan of a raw bar and I'd been wanting to try this place out for a while but last minute reservations were always tough to come by. On a whim, I thought I'd give it another shot and was surprised I was able to book a table for the same day!! We arrived and were promptly seated. I was impressed with the decor and seating arrangement. I was tempted to book seats at the bar, but I was worried the stools had no backs so I chose a table. I was surprised to see a mix of stools at the bar, some with backs and some without. I'll make it a point to try the bar out on a future visit. For dinner, we chose an assortment of freshly shucked oysters, the halibut crudo, the tuna tostada and the clams casino to start. The oysters were delicious and we differed in our opinions of which type we liked best. The crudo was excellent. I was especially impressed by the sauce made of melon. It was thick and unctuous and clinched perfectly to the pieces of halibut. The tuna tostada also impressed. While it was a bit challenging to share, we managed to break off shards of the tostada to enjoy. The punch of ginger and lime were well balanced. Two thumbs up!! The clams casino smelled terrific with the scent of smoky bacon drifting up. The first bite was absolute heaven until I realized the barely cooked clam underneath was as chewy as a rubber band. Again, they tasted great but the chewiness was a turnoff for me. Next we shared their chicory Caesar salad and an order of shrimp & grits. The salad was mostly frisée and castelfranco radicchio tossed in a "caesar-like" dressing and topped with several anchovy filets and lots of breadcrumbs. While I enjoy anchovies, I would have preferred them to be chopped up and tossed into the salad rather than laid on top. Consuming an entire anchovy at once is a complete salt bomb that overpowers everything else so I ended up cutting them up myself. The shrimp and grits were quite good. The grits were cooked to perfection. The shrimp came with their heads on but the tails were shelled. They were seasoned well and kissed by a touch of smoke from the grill. The tails were super sweet and almost melted in your mouth. The only thing I didn't care for was a strange sauce that was drizzled around the grits. It was reddish orange and tasted vaguely of vinegary hot sauce, only thicker and perhaps made with butter. I don't think it needed it. Nonetheless, we had a great experience. Our hosts were amazing and got us seated at the bar despite no rez right away. Tanya was fantastic- chill, on it, gave great recs. We had a really delicious dinner here from the same owners of The Lonely Oyster. It's a south eastern inspired seafood restaurant with a large bar in the middle and rotating sharesize plates. The only issue we had is we both are taking an alcohol cleanse so we wanted to order iced teas but they don't have that. Then we tried to order Coke, but they only have Diet Coke. If you're ordering alcohol you have many options, but in terms of nonalcoholic drinks, they are really limited. Aside from that our server was very polite and everything arrived fairly quickly. There is a parking lot right out front, but it only has room for about 8 to 10 spaces, otherwise it will be valet or free street parking. They have a fairly large menu filled with all sorts of great options so we really had to take some time to choose what we wanted to order. We started off with the Hush Puppies, which were a great start and as good as expected. Next came a personal favorite of mine, the She Crab Soup. I have spent a lot of time in the Carolinas so it was great to have this again. Next came the Bluefin Tostada, and it was very light, fresh, and filled with flavor. After that came Hamachi, which was also light, fresh, and very good, which was followed by the Oysters Casino and the Crispy Brook Trout, which was my favorite dish of the night. The trout was extremely crispy, but still filled with lemony flavor, and I honestly loved every bite. Overall, we really had a great dinner here and it's easily one of our favorite places in Eagle Rock. I wouldn't write a negative review unless the service was unpleasant. Our waiter was annoyed and impatient, got our order wrong several times and was visibly irritated. My friend is hard of hearing, wears hearing aids and he was so rude to her. On top of that, the restaurant adds a service fee and calculates the tip including said fee. I've never had room temperature grits. The shrimp were over cooked. When we asked our waiter to tell us about the oyster variety we ordered he behaved as if we inconvenienced him "they all come from the same region." And stomped off. Truly a strange experience. Needless to say, I do not recommend this restaurant and will not be going back. I do have the waiters name on my receipt if the restaurant wants to reach out. read more
