This review is really late but I wanted to make sure to credit this guy. Dans come out to our home, in Waianae, 3 separate times doing a total of 4 different jobs. Twice he had to fix work originally done by someone else that was tricky without ripping out our walls, but he found a way to save our wall and solve the issue in about 2-3 hours. He's always been punctual, works quickly and has done excellent work. He's easy to talk to and you get the sense that he really wants to help you. His rates are fair considering the quality of work he delivers and is worth every penny paid. His billing system makes it easy to pay with many different payment options also. I've had a very good experience with this company and will definitely use them again! I had an issue with my toilet water rising after flushing and it wouldn't flush. I immediately requested quotes simultaneously from different companies on Yelp to have it fixed. Dan wrote back quickly including 2 others. I unfortunately went along with the first one without doing any research about it, which was Hawaii Drain Pro. I was busy and just needed it to get fixed. Hawaii Drain Pro came at the end of the day (7pm), snaked it, replaced the toilet, stated there wasn't any clog (toys or objects) then proceeded to say our toilet was old and if we put in a new one the problem would've been fixed. Well, wouldn't that have been nice to know BEFORE they put the old one back on? I mean, we live near a home improvement store?!. That cost us about $300 and the next day - the SAME problem!! But I'll save you the details at my review for Hawaii Drain Pro that I'll be doing next. So, I contact Dan, tell him my sob story, and he makes time in his schedule to come over and give me a FREE consultation and even snaked my toilet. He believed that there probably was something stuck in it that couldn't be reached and recommended we change the toilet as well. A plumber came when we scheduled and completed a new tub spout, new toilet, and a new kitchen faucet. The plumber was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. No Attitude like Hawaii Drain Pro. And best of all, all of those things we had done were affordable and FIXED. We are so happy with our experience with Dan Does Plumbing and his crew. Talking to Dan is like talking to a regular person and not like taking to a Used Car Salesmen, which it often feels like when talking to other companies, like Hawaii Drain Pro (rip offs!). This is an example of why you should always Buy Local and not use these types of companies that have big fancy vans (red flag!). Those company's always tack on fees that were never mentioned before putting you in an awkward situation. Dan responds quickly...A+ for that! I had wanted him to look at the dishwasher (possible) pipe leak, as the last two times it was used the floor started buckling to the side of the dishwasher and the new garbage disposal wasn't working. I was quoted $125. My adult son came to my house to meet Dan who was about 40 minutes late, and he found the garbage disposal plug came loose (wow, I feel pretty dumb checking all breakers and not the plug, lol) but neither of the men could operate the dishwasher, so while I was on the phone with my son trying to be the go-between, I asked if Dan could clear two slow drains upstairs (in the same bathroom) which he did. Then he buzzed out the door saying he couldn't diagnose the leak issue if the dishwasher wasn't working. As soon as he left I asked my son to check the delay function and sure enough, the dishwasher was on a delayed cycle. My son ran to the door but Dan was pulling away. I messaged but he answered a few minutes later saying he had 3 other jobs to get to that day and could come back another day. Last night my invoice came and it was DOUBLE the quote: $250 - that's $10 per minute at my house! Dan's reply upon my questioning the charge is that he charges $125 per drain. Wow, maybe I'm out of touch with plumber pricing...I'll let you the consumer be the judge. If the dishwasher issue could have been fixed I would feel the price was worth it, but now I have to wait to get that job done and will be calling someone else to do the job. read more

Try to avoid this business if you can. They did answer the call and come on time. But be cautious of their quote. Dan quoted me a price range and finished the work with way less the time I thought. He charged the top price anyway. When I tried to reason the price he would not acknowledge the price range he quoted originally. read more

Contacted Dan through Yelp's automatic quote request and he came back with a very fast and reasonable response. I sent pictures of my problem and we discussed it before I confirmed his service. His guy, Nalu, came within a half hour of estimated time. When Nalu got here, he explained everything he was going to do and why. Although it was more than I was expecting to have done, he explained why it had to be done that way. Dan kept to his original quote. I called Dan Does Plumbing based on his 5 star rating. I told him 2 other plumbers turned down the job. I also told Dan it was a tight area to work in. He wanted me to take pics so he knows what he was getting into. I took pics and he gave me an estimate which was lower than what was quoted by the other plumbers. Gave Dan the ok to start and he came out the next day. It was a longer project than anyone anticipated, Dan went to plan A then plan B then plan C then plan D which finally worked. Dan and his assistant Koa went the extra mile to make sure they fixed our problem. It took 3 days to complete the job, Dan never gave up and did everything possible to fix the problem. True to his quote plus a little more because of the complexity was totally acceptable. I cannot thank Dan enough for a professional job. Everything was clean and neat. My parents had an overnight mishap that was suspected to have been a leak from the garbage disposal. Since I was no expert in the area, I started to reach out to plumbers via yelp. Dan was one of the first to respond. Instead of offering work by the hour or a service charge or fee for an estimate, he offered a flat charge and 2 options. He could even accommodate my parents the same day and provided a precise time frame. Although Dan himself didn't do the repair, Nalu, according to my parents, did a wonderful job. I had a problem with the kitchen sink leaking and tried calling a couple of other companies, who weren't available to schedule for a couple of days. I contacted Dan, who returned my called within a short time. He stopped by after he completed his last appointment to diagnose my problem. He didn't have the part to replace but scheduled to return the next day. He was as good as his word and returned to finish the job the next day. They say there are 2 things that are certain in life...death and taxes. I say there are 3...death, taxes and leaking plumbing! I've tried 4 different plumbing companies in the past which all ended in disappointment. Then I discovered JMAC Plumbing and used them for years only to discover they have closed permanently. So I searched on Yelp and read the great reviews for Dan. Dan answered my call right away and then 2 days later came to assess the situation. The hot water valve behind my bathroom vanity was leaking and he said the sink faucet needed to be replaced. He said to buy a new faucet over the weekend and would return on Monday to install it and perform the repairs. Clifford from Dan's team arrived on Monday...very punctual (in fact he came early) and was so professional! He changed out all the old rusty valves not only in my bathroom but also in my kitchen. Because of the leak on the valve and the rusty line, the hot water barely flowed out before. Thanks to Dan and Clifford, the bathroom faucet works great now! And there are no leaks anywhere! We had a shower valve leak that needed a valve cartridge replaced. Dan was recommended so we went with it (shower valve leak = no shower) so it was somewhat of an emergency... He sent someone (I wasn't home but my adult son was) who my son says had to YouTube how to remove the valve cartridge...needless to say, #1 He never turned off the water supply and #2 Apparently YouTube didn't work for him because rather than removing the old valve cartridge properly, well...lets just say, he turned a $300 job into an $1800 job (was forced to find someone else) and then...AND THEN...had to audacity to tell me that his boy did everything right and SWEAR at me on top of that...I never used any 'language' during our conversation, yet he kept trying to talk over me when I tried to explain that the shut off valve in the bathroom is BEHIND a panel but the panel was NEVER removed (my resident manager and I had to CUT the panel free) SO...I DON'T CARE HOW MANY reviews gives him KUDOS...his BUSINESS ETHICS are LESS THAN POOR...to say the least! read more
