Dan Seeley bid the work install the HVAC system in a LEED Platinum, Net-Zero-Energy custom home build in Crestline, CA. Based on many multiple on the fly, unapproved and unauthorized changes he made during the installation it became obvious he had tossed the County approved and permitted HVACV plans in the back of his truck and never looked at them again. When challenged by the project architect and MEP engineering team who designed the system for ignoring their designs he stated he had been in the HVAC business for decades and knew better than the engineers what would work. Seeley Installed ducts everywhere, installed screens with no equipment behind them. He got very angry and abusive when repeatedly asked to stick to the supplied plans. Naturally nothing ever worked properly. The three thermostats were never calibrated. He made me buy thousands of dollars worth of equipment that he never needed or used. Rude, arrogant, completely unprofessional. Avoid this business. read more

Dan came to our home last Wednesday to give an estimate for an AC unit to be added to our existing central heating. He had a thorough detailed quote that evening. The price was so fair I agreed to the work right away. He arrived as promised that Monday and he and his crew were done within six hours. This included digging into the ground to install a level pad for the condenser on the side of a slope. He also updated the ducting to permit greater air flow. Paid $78 for three repair estimates on why my HVAC heater was not working. All three gave different reasons why the HVAC was bad and very costly repair estimates. They all wanted me to buy a new unit for $1,200.00+. Dan Seeley diagnosed the problem and even made the made the heater come on but showed me that the "heater box" was cracked and would leak Co in the home. He spent several days trying to find the part, but the unit was over 15 years old and the heater box was obsolete. We had two like units and Dan suggested we replace both because they were on the roof and need a crane to replace. The price two new HVAC's was $12,260.00! Dan and his team are the best. I now have central air conditioning! Dan gave me several options from ductless to central (I already had central heat). We walked through the house and discussed what changes would occur and he provided quotes to me that evening. I called with my decision a few days later and scheduled a time to start. Dan gave me an estimate on when the equipment would be available and said he'd work to se if he could get it sooner. Luckily he was able to secure the parts sooner so we could get started. Absolutely amazing. I recently moved up into the mountains and I've been having a bear of a time getting contractors and other professionals to come to my house to get work done. Sometimes when I've dealt with local folks, the prices have been astronomical and I've been vaguely suspicious. Dan Seeley changed all that. Our house is really old and really weird. Passages and hallways on top of hallways and passages... Little crawlspaces and very few places to run ducts and refrigerant and such. 3 furnaces and 3 duct systems! We tried to live with heating only, no AC, and gave up after my office reached 92 degrees one day. We needed central air! I was skeptical that anyone could come in and figure this out at a price less than a brand-new Mercedes. Well, a couple companies did come in and quote me a new Mercedes, and/or a system that would have made a sea creature with dozens of tentacles jealous. Dan Seeley came in and spent a lot of time going through the house, getting into tight spaces, and really putting on his thinking cap. He worked with me to troubleshoot and work through a lot of different ideas on how we could tackle this huge and complicated job. No other HVAC company that came to estimate was as diligent or thoughtful as Dan. Once I got the estimate, it was well-thought-out and reasonable, considering the size of the job. Dan really tailored the bid to my needs, without a bunch of fluff. When it came to doing the job, it went very well. Dan still had his thinking cap on and I was really happy to find out one day that he had solved one of our biggest puzzles in terms of where to run a particular duct. I built an energy efficient custom home in Crestline, CA. Seeking a professional HVAC contractor, Seeley was referred by a local GC. After bidding the job, which included installing a system that was professionally designed and engineered to provide three separate climate zones in the three story building, with all of the specified materials being provided by our team, Seeley and his crew apparently tossed the approved engineered plans in the back of their truck and proceeded to install ducting and soffits wherever they felt like, ignoring the plans, arguing with the design team and myself the entire time. Apparently a set of permitted, stamped and approved building plans is nothing other than an inconvenient suggestion box to this firm. After the build was finally complete , (they would show up, then would disappear for weeks, the usual dramas), they left 57 pieces of unused surplus ducting and bags of insulation materials on the job site, unnecessary materials I had been forced to pay them for, of course. The HVAC system has never worked properly. They couldn't figure out how to program the combi-boiler. The thermostats are not programmed, the home is freezing cold downstairs, hot in the middle and cold upstairs. Paid in full, Seeley refused to balance the house, claiming he doesn't offer that work. He refused to program the thermostats. Probably fine for replacing a worn or broken piece of equipment, but for new construction I regret contracting this firm to work on my project. read more

I can't tell you how happy I am with Dan Seeley's service. I've been in my house for over 40 years and know many of the contractors up here, I myself was a masonry contractor for many years.  Up till now I've been able to do my own repairs, but my 40 year old furnace finally gave out for the last time. I called a few friends, as well as the top lumber company on the mountain for some names.  Without hesitation the name Dan Seeley topped the list.  To be safe, I called the top three, only Dan Seeley called me back. He called within an hour from an installation he was on. Said he would come by the next morning (Saturday) to inspect the furnace. I was concerned as we were below 20 degrees and a storm was due to hit about mid week. He arrived at exactly 8AM, and watching him troubleshoot this 40 year old furnace told me he knew his stuff. Within 5 minutes he located the problem. He didn't try to talk me into a new furnace, he just said it might be difficult finding a starter for such an old unit. It was I who asked him for a quote on a new furnace.  He didn't just say 'X' amount, he instead inspected what my heating needs were and how my ducts were working. Said he'd have a quote later that evening.  He temporarily fixed my furnace so I could manually light the burner when needed. Showed me the safest way to do it. It was down to 17 degrees and I was about out of firewood. Sure enough, at about 7PM I received a phone call, as well as the detailed quote online for me to review. I was very happy with the quote. Very reasonable, especially knowing my neighbors have paid twice that amount to have their furnaces replaced.  I voiced my concern about the storm due to hit. He ordered the furnace, and on the day before the storm hit, he and his crew did a fantastic job installing it.  This was of course during covid, they all wore masks and were very careful and respectful. That night the storm hit and we got 2 feet of snow.  I was warm as toast. My nephew is a retired licensed electrician in Oregon, he agreed I was given a very reasonable quote. He also said the brand of the furnace, Goodman, was a very good brand. I have used Dave on 3 occasions now. I have nothing but good things to say about him. Helpful, knowledgeable, and he saved me money. Not only that but the guy is just a truly good guy. I had a tenant that was supposed to be knowledgeable the first time that I found Dave. The tenant was going to try and find me a deal on a used unit cause he said my furnace needed to be replaced. I got a recommendation for Dave, and called him. Within may be 15 minutes he was on the phone to me explaining the problem and what was needed to fix it. So my furnace goes out. It's below freezing most nights lately so gotta get it looked at. This is a situation we all dread. You call someone knowing you are at their mercy. Then Dan Seeley showed up. I got his info from Yelp. Highly rated by other customers. Called him on Sunday. He came on Monday. He diagnosed the problem right away. My furnace is 30 years old. He told me he had a used part in his shop. 15 minutes later my furnace is working like a champ. Never discussed price. Never hesitated to do what he could to get it working. I felt confident enough after that to ask his advice about replacing the furnace. I told him I would like A/C as well (most mountain homes don't have A/C). He gave me a quote for both. Unbeknownst to him, I had gotten quotes already after the home inspection report came back saying the furnace was 28 years old. His quote came in below the median, but not the lowest. I liked the way he treated me and so I went for a new furnace. I told him that both would be too expensive right now, but we would be ready in 2-3 months to get the A/C. He scheduled the installation with me, showed up on time, did a clean and thorough job, cleaned up the work area (even vacuumed the floor), and went through the operation procedure. This couldn't have been easier. He and the two guys working with him were just pleasant and thorough throughout the job. It was a job well done!! I will follow up in a few months when he installs the A/C. Easy to work with, honest and straightforward in his evaluation and estimation. I could not have possibly been treated better. Oh, and the furnace works great! So June comes and weather warms up. I have family arriving soon and time to add that a/c. I call Dan Seeley and let him know I'm ready. He comes over and walks the job. Suggests a better place for the compressor because of noise. He comes back with his crew and the a/c and gets down to business. Another clean and thorough job. I called with an urgent repair request for a rental house I own on the lake. The guests staying with us reported that the AC was not working. I called Seeley's late in the afternoon and a live person picked up the phone and were able to schedule a next-day repair appointment. They even stopped by our patrol agency to pick up a key for access to the HVAC unit. The guest ultimately determined that the AC was indeed working, so Seeley's did not end up doing the service.
