On Monday, February 2, Mike and Jack came out to install a brand new heater after our old system stopped functioning and was outdated. The installation went well thanks to their professional experience. We had purchased a Nest thermostat but were not aware that we needed to order the Nest charging plate cover and Nest power connector separately. Since we didn't have those items at the time of installation and due to the storm, Jack returned on Monday, March 16 to finish setting everything up. We had air conditioning installed in our Lake Arrowhead home that was built in the 70's. We had two heating units, one under the house and the other in the attic. The one for downstairs was retro fitted and the one in the attic was replaced. David and his crew were amazing. In a nutshell, condensed version: Seemed PROFESSIONAL: Upfront and early on, as you can see from my first review, David was seemingly calm, trust worthy and polite, I gave him the benefit of any doubt based on this seemingly professional demeanor, but wow, that professional behavior quickly changed when problems arose as mentioned below--How could I be so wrong? I had to ask him to leave my home when he was not polite, calling me names! I have not had him back in my home nor will I ever again to do any work. Unresolved issues: -Never provided the promised free maintenance on mini splits per contract -Did not follow furnace manual regarding where to install filter cage jeopardizing my warranty -Never received a signed rebate form promised by owner, nor did owner want to provide necessary info to process rebate Owner states in his response to my review many things I'm in disagreement with, but the most disturbing is the owner said: That my husband sided with him. My husband agrees with all that I mentioned in this review. How low can you go David by trying to cause friction between me and my husband--unbelievable! Stay Away from this company. The details: So DISAPPOINTED. In addition to the mini splits this company installed, I also had a furnace installed fall 2023. The filter cage on my new furnace was not done according to the manual which may void my warranty. After much discussion with the owner to correct the filter placement at no cost to me due to his negligence (except for the part), the owner wants to add the filter cage at an additional $650 cost to me (It cost thus far 15K for his work) and the owner will not give me the part cost information for the filter cage holder. Mind you, the furnace has been running a full season with the filter placed inside the motor area unsecured, just flopping around in there not providing protection to my new unit (pictures to follow). The owner called me a difficult person when I asked questions about the filter cage be placed according to the manual and again refused to give me the part cost information to correct it. The owner refused to work with me, calling me names in my home, because I ask valid questions that he does not want to answer him calling me a very difficult person and that I was unreasonable and accusatory--I had to ask him to leave my home as I was so shocked and upset. REBATE did not happen as owner stated: The owner will not provide the info requested for a rebate he used as bait so I would purchased a more expensive unit. He refused to give me a signed rebate form and the mandatory information to get the rebate stating he can't give me the cost of the equipment as this his "privileged" information nor did he ever sign/print this form for me (the state is asking for cost of equipment, not me in order to get the rebate). He also did not pull a permit as the rebate requests, the owner states I should know to pull a permit, he is the professional, and should know the laws, right? I had no idea a permit is necessary, or not, until I read the rebate form which said the contractor will provide if required. When I questioned him he said I was being unreasonable and accusatory. That's 1k I'm out on that rebate deal. PROMISED free maintenance didn't happen: The owner states, which I never witnessed, that he provided the promised free yearly maintenance on my mini split system and refuses to provide any documentation stating the date and work done--unbelievable! Again, I'm now unreasonable and accusatory. May be going to small claims on this one if my warranty is not valid due to this company not providing maintenance records requested for the mini split along with not following the installation instructions for the furnace filter placement. read more

David and his team were a rare find on the mountains in that they were reliable, prompt, courteous, trustin, had excellent communication, and professional. They replaced our ancient furnace, installation looked up-to-code, and David explained some of the functionality of the appliance along with some tips. Pricing was a bit higher than other quotes we had received, but Higher Ground is licensed, insured, and bonded, and that gives some extra piece of mind should something go wrong down the line. The furnace unit itself carries a 20+ year warranty, and labor is free for its lifetime. David and his team are wonderful to work with. I have used Higher Ground twice now for our home. The first was last October when our downstairs heater quit working. When others told us we needed a new unit, David told us we really did not need two units as our main one was large enough to heat the entire house and it would save us money not only on the repair but on energy costs. We knew eventually we would need to replace the larger unit as both units were very old. Easter weekend the old girl decided she had enough and quit on us. I sent a text to David on Monday morning and he responded promptly. He was out at our home within two hours. Within a day he had the unit completely replaced. In addition, he also took a look at our ac unit and serviced it for us. David is reliable, prompt, honest and very reasonably priced. They work hard and quickly to ensure your needs are met and in our case having heat when the weather wants to be fickle. Higher ground helped us twice. The first time was to find out why we had no heat going to our third floor. They found the problem and fixed the ductwork without problem. The second they literally warmed our hearts! Our house had no heat, 42 degrees inside the house and they not only answered my call on a Sunday day but went out as soon as they could attempted to fix the thermostat and then replaced the furnace all within a short amount of time.
