    Sashimi sampler!
    Timothy M.

I've been waiting to try this place after seeing great reviews online. The servers were so warm and welcoming. They quickly got our drink order and were very helpful. I sat at the sushi bar. I started with the seaweed salad. It was sweet and crunchy. So comforting. Then I ordered the sashimi sampler. The price is awesome for what you get. Mine came with snapper (my fav), scallop (SO BUTTERY), albacore (mild), bluefin tuna w/ uni (bursting with flavor), yellowtail w/ jalapeno (classic), and salmon (the ikura was a great touch.) Lastly I ordered the seared tuna. The smoky flavor is so much fun. I've always wanted to try seared sushi, I had no idea it was so good. I'm definitely ordering a searing option every time for now on.

I stopped in here to get a bite of sushi I was starving after sitting in traffic. I ordered the bluefin tuna sushi and the scallop sushi. I sat outside enjoying the sunshine of the parking lot. I also had a cucumber salad with a lot of red ginger.

Our favorite neighborhood date night restaurant. Dana Kai located off Niguel and Camino Del Avion. Parking is a little tricky. Great place to come for some sushi, drinks and my husband's favorite two item combo. Staff is friendly and with great service. Next time you come to Dana Point/ Laguna Niguel stop by and give them a try.

Ok wait! I'm overwhelmed in the Best way ... I walked in on a sunny Sunday to be delighted to experience a Clean, High Vibe Atmosphere and finally a great Ventilation system! Legit! Dana Kai is sooo impressive!!! AND even a I just found my Dream roll. I am constantly trying to communicate with sushi chefs as to my palette(my fish taste tolerance and I do not like rice). I'm clearly high maintenance!!! So YES It happened. It's like finding your 'drink order' at Starbucks! I consulted with a very kind and funny handsome young sushi chef ' Kevin' aka Joomin shhhh its a Pic.'s to follow of my new roll... I feel like I traveled in time and went to Japan and got my own private chef. It's the Hamachi Taki roll and I was confused about what it meant from seared just my normal Hamachi yellowtail. He explained it in detail and he was so kind as to give me three of one and three of the other it's a six year-old y'all and I feel like it was a feast! Delicious. Perfect. Fresh . Generous. I am grateful... See you here!

Open Monday thru Sunday 12-9pm. Korean owned. There were multiple tables available and we were immediately seated. No plate settings on our table, had to ask for them once food arrived. How can you bring food to the table and not notice there's nothing to eat with for all the guests. $25 sashimi sampler, $38 sushi sampler. Happy hour 3-6p M-F. Miso soup had a strong plastic smell that came from the soup itself. Felt unsafe to eat. Highly recommend you avoid it. The rainbow roll and salmon roll were ok. Ordered an additional roll and it never came. Inquired with the server and she asked if we ordered. Yes we ordered with you earlier. So she went and added it to the computer so we had to wait a while longer. Sushi comes out pretty quick though. We were still ordering, she took my plate away and never brought a new one. She obviously knew we were still eating since she just placed the order for another roll herself. I had to ask for another plate. Service is very poor here. Inattentive, terrible, don't know how to resolve issues. Beef combo plate was ok. Tempura was good. Very disappointing meal. Lack service etiquette. Food is mediocre, many other better sushi spots around to visit instead. They do cater to frequent fliers / residents of the area, as they greet them with hugs and kind words. Building is currently under construction, but does not affect dining area.

Restaurants at the Ritz Laguna Niguel were all booked up so we ventured close by to Dana Kai. Quick highlights: Staff were polite and didn't rush us, even though it was 40 mins to closing Service was quick Sushi tasted fresh Lots of parking Price was standard and what you would expect for sushi (we got 3 different rolls) Restaurant was clean Overall, it was a good choice for the night!

Dana Kai is a nice Sushi Spot in Dana Point. I had some cucumber salad and wine to start off before getting some cucumber and avocado rolls with spicy Mayo. Everything was very tasty! My overall meal didn't cost so much due to the type of sushi I ordered. The parking is somewhat big so parking shouldn't be an issue. The service was decent, but could be slightly better in regards to being attentive but overall good.

The food is really good and the 4 item lunch combo is definitely a good deal at $22. I give 4 stars and not 5 because every single staff person was MANIC and rushing us (there really weren't very many customers so it was by no means a mad house). For example, when we were filling out our order on the sheet of paper, the waitress kept coming back saying "are you done are you done" as we were clearly still filling it out. That is just one example. But they need to slow down and take a deep breath. They also seemed irritated that we didn't order any alcohol? Lol it was just a weird energy and stressed us out as if they were timing us the whole time we were there (a whopping 45ish minutes for lunch) Foods bomb but staff needs to MELLOW out.

I ended up here in the middle of the day while working in the area. Never been before. I try to avoid chains when I can and pick something new each time. This place caught my eye, and I'm glad I walked in. It's a small, family-run vibe -- and I mean literally. Looked like a husband and wife running everything themselves. They were both super polite, calm, and you can tell they really care about the food and about every guest who walks in. No rush, no attitude, just warm hospitality. I went with something safe for me -- ramen and salmon sushi. And both were just... really solid. Not overcomplicated, not trying to be something fancy. Just good food made right. The broth had depth, noodles cooked right, and the sushi was fresh with balanced flavor. No complaints there at all. The place itself is small. Not a big dining room. A few tables inside, clean but definitely more of a takeout-focused spot. They don't have a restroom available inside, which kind of confirms that they expect people to grab food and go. And honestly -- I would. Not because it's bad to sit there -- it's fine. But this is the kind of meal that hits even better sitting somewhere by the ocean with the breeze. I'd definitely order takeout from here and eat outside by the water next time. I paid around $30, which is very fair for the quality, especially in California. They do ask about tip at checkout before you get your food -- that part always feels a bit weird to me, but I get it. Overall -- 5 stars for the food and the heart behind the place. I'll remember it. And I'll be back -- probably to pick up a to-go order and take it straight to the beach.

Plenty of parking and jsyk there is no public restroom. As for the food, everything tastes great! You get a great amount of fresh fish for the most affordable prices in the area. The sushi rice tastes good and I appreciate how the rolls aren't stuffed w/ rice to make up for the lack of fish. I especially like the Aloha roll, Lollipop roll, Crunch (shrimp tempura) hand roll, and the sashimi & carpaccios are all fresh. Love how you can get pickled wasabi (real wasabi) for a reasonable up-charge. All of their salad dressings are made in-house too! Great place for a quick & casual bite to eat. They got treats for dogs and lots of friendly vibes to share. Super accommodating to all, and can confidently say that they treat their regulars so well. We happened to stop nearby and decided to look around this plaza. We were starting to get hungry and Glasspar looks like the most appealing option so we decided to check it out. HAPPY HOUR: Mon-Thurs 4:30-6pm, Fri-Sat 4-6pm. Wow what a deal. I normally don't think about happy hour deals on Saturdays but we were pleasantly surprised. It was 5:30pm already so we had to make some quick decisions. Chad was very friendly and helpful with our order. We decided to get a Dozen and a Half Oysters (HH $3/each), an Oyster Shooter (HH $5), Duck Fat French Fries (HH $7), 1/2 lb Steamed Clams (HH $13), and Seafood Poke (HH $12). The specialty cocktails were such a good deal I wanted 2 but asked my boyfriend to order one so I don't look like too much of an alcoholic. I had the White Sangria Spritzer (HH $12) and a G3 (HH $12). Everything came out in a reasonable amount of time and Chad communicated checking on things for us as we were waiting. He was really on top of it. The oysters were awesome! My only regret was not ordering more. For the dozen and a half came with 6 of each of Baracats, Stingrays, and Pacific Plumps. I thought the baracats and stringrays were mild. My favorite was definitely the pacific plumps; it was sweet and creamy with a good bite to it. The shucking was also really well. I just want to give them that credit. The oyster shooter was strong, in a good way. Tasty! The duck fat fries were nice and crispy. It came with a rich truffle aioli. The steamed clams were good, but the slice of bread they gave us with it was burnt to an inedible level. I also would have liked a spoon to sip that garlic white wine and butter liquid. Clams were fresh. The seafood poke came with crispy wonton chips. It was decent. After our original order we decided we wanted to finish off with somethings small, so we got the Clam Chowder ($14). I would have liked it a smidge thicker in texture but the taste and the quality of ingredients are on point. I get the bacon essence and a good amount of clams in the soup too. I'm really glad we added that to our order. I also really like that the check comes in books. Chad told us that we can write a note in it if we want. They look at it like a way to interact with their customers. So cute!! We are DEFINITELY coming back here!! Next time I'll order even more oysters :)
