The banana bread was perfectly moist, but with crispy edges and a delicious mascarpone side. We also had espresso martinis to complement these sweet treats. I had the egg in hole (again!) because I was still dreaming of that trouble sauce and perfectly crispy Parmesan bread. Others in my group also got that and were equally impressed! Everyone was really impressed with the meal and we would definitely come back again! We sat outside on the patio with the option for shade or heaters depending on the weather. It was very comfortable outside! Staff were attentive and friendly. It was an overall great experience.

But from the moment we arrived, the welcome and the service from our waiter were 10/10. From the very first bite, we completely fell in love with the flavor and quality of the food. The churros and banana bread were the best we've ever had, and the drinks were perfectly balanced. Without a doubt, the next time we visit Calistoga, this will be our first mandatory stop.

One of the best I've ever had and I'm not even a mushroom person. Still thinking about this dish. 5+ stars - Duck bun: single bao like sliced bun with a good portion of duck either hoisin, cucumbers, and sprouts. Wonderful fusion version. 4.75 stars - Poke: fresh large cubes of poke with thin large taro chips. 4.5 stars - Fries: unusually thin and flat versions with a lovely spice combo. 4.25 stars - Cheese curds: legit thin breading with gooey inside which is saying much just coming from Wisconsin the day before. 4.25 stars - Cocktails: quality unique versions. -- Easy rider: coffee bitters bourbon one came in a cool flask-like glass bottle. -- Humming bird: vodka, Aperol, tea, and bubbly was nice. - Wines: lots of great options by the glass, half bottle, or bottle. Some locals I hadn't tried which is fun. - Dining room is open and bright with wood floors, modern type furniture, and art. Also has a small bar where you can see drinks being made as well as a patio outside facing the street. - Waitress: gave us great reccos for ordering in my fave sharing is caring style. Lowlights - Lots of items with mayo for non mayo peeps (in guac and desserts) with some hidden not noted on the menu (poke, duck)

I' was quite familiar though with Starks near Railroad Square and use to frequent that location before Covid came along....anyway I know Bird is popular and I was really looking forward to a nice bar experience and tasty cuisine ...but I will probably not go again. *Atmosphere--the place is somewhat large with two floors and feels and looks non-de script. Very much a business. Noisy, busy, aloof. 3 stars *Cocktails--I didn't have a signature cocktail but instead requested Grey Goose over ice with a twist. The pour was so small; unacceptably small. A thimbleful . Very disappointing. 0 stars. *Food--we ordered the fried chicken and a side of greens. The chicken was good, moist, accompanied by a tasty slaw and pickled veggie bits. 4 stars The greens were okay but mediocre 2+ stars *Service--our server was pretty much going through the motions, perhaps a long day. 2+ stars, The host was pleasant and helpful. 4 stars. *Price--expensive. Our kids had an amazing time and even got a special tour from the staff. Food was pretty good, the menu for brunch is rotational and overall we enjoyed the meal but it was not the high point of the visit. Several of us got the fried chicken and biscuit and it was good with honey but was hoping the fried chicken would have been more crispy. Fries were yummy and salad option was delightful. We sat near misters, which we would probably ask not to for our next visit - little too strong for our eating setup. Overall a beautiful spot and wonderful way to spend a weekend with the family. Booked a reservation for 10, and we were promptly seated and greeted by our server Jake. He was very attentive, checking back to ensure a great experience. I had the butternut squash soup for a starter and the eggs benedict as the main course. Very delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. After brunch we walked the entire grounds and the main floor of the Inn. The Interior of the Inn on the main floor is very clean and elegant with beautiful furnishings and art. The grounds are quiet and peaceful with nook and open areas for relaxing with a glass of champagne or cup of coffee. The Flower Barn must be seen. There was a wreath making class going and countless beautiful dried flowers hanging from the ceiling of every variety. There is a little store on the property with more dried flowers, olive oils, jams and balsamic vinegar from the valley. Soothing jazz music played in the various areas of the property. I can imagine what the propery must look like at night, or for a wedding or party. I am looking forward to returning!

My boyfriend and I ordered wine, the artichoke dip, mussels, tagliatelle, 1/2 chicken, and bread pudding. There was a good variety of wine to choose from and the waitress was nice enough to give me a couple samples before ordering a full glass. We were surprised by the lemon / tangy flavor in the artichoke dip but really enjoyed it! We LOVED the mussels--this was a generous serving, and this was a great combination with the broth and sausage. The tagliatelle was clearly homemade and fresh, and the sauce was flavorful but light; the only thing I would change is the amount of peas / pea flavor. The chicken skin was perfectly crispy! Lastly, the bread pudding was literally baked fresh to the point where we almost couldn't order it. The staff told us it would be a bit of a wait, but when it took a little longer than expected, they continued to check in on us and whether we still wanted to wait. It was definitely worth it! It wasn't as sweet / cinnamon-y as other bread puddings that I've had, but was moist without being soggy and felt like a true homemade recipe. The ambiance was casual yet intimate, and despite being busy, didn't feel crowded or loud. We also appreciated that the wait staff didn't rush us out!

From the moment we arrived, the warmth, friendliness, and deep knowledge of the service staff made the evening feel truly special, and the pacing of the meal was impeccable as it never felt rushed or dragging, just a beautiful flow from course to course. Every single dish was spectacular, with each bite layered with flavor and intention, and the highlight of a night full of highlights was getting to tour the kitchen and even meet the Chef Garcia. At one point I mentioned a particularly delicious fish sauce martini I'd had elsewhere, and our server surprised me by bringing out a small pourer of fish sauce so I could customize my own tasting, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. You can really feel Chef Garcia's experience and talent in how he marries flavors, textures, temperatures, and heat; each course felt like a masterclass in balance and harmony. Given our experience, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Auro awarded a second (or even third) star in the near future.

Mind you that I have never in my entire life ever left a restaurant without paying. I'm no teenager so definitely can pay what I owe. And in fact, in the last few visits, have generously tipped the old mill staff at minimum 20-25%. When I chose to give them $100 to cover the bill they accused me of not paying the last time...they at first refused then proceeded to tell me the truth...that the machine they were using the night I was accused of not paying was not working and they had encountered multiple problems with different patrons that night...and many other payments had not gone through. In fact, they said after that they were forced to replace the entire system. So I ask, if you knew it was your system...why would you then accuse a patron of purposely not paying the bill. I stayed to eat. I even tipped extra. But after I left, I realized the situation put a distaste in my mouth. Hopefully the server and mgmt learn not to blame a Patti for their bad machine/system. That was in poor taste. That approach made the food tasted mediocre after that. Next time I'll think twice before I choose to come again.

We knew immediately this was going to be a special night. We went all in with the chef's prix fixe menu, and it delivered from the very first bite. Warm, homemade dinner rolls -- fragrant with thyme, garlic, and chili flakes, served alongside pillowy whipped butter -- set the tone perfectly. We loved them so much we asked for a second basket without a moment's hesitation. The Sonoma County Organic Salad that followed was nothing short of a revelation: crisp Little Gem lettuce, Pioneer Micro Herbs and edible flowers, beautifully shaved vegetables, whipped fromage blanc, and a Green Goddess dressing that tied it all together with effortless elegance. Perfection is the only word for it. For our entrées, the Petrale Sole Meunière was a masterclass in refined, soulful cooking -- the Costeaux sourdough croutons, potato fondant, haricot verts, and caper beurre noisette working in perfect harmony. And the pork porchetta with nduja? Cooked flawlessly, bold, deeply satisfying, and utterly memorable. We paired the meal with the Valette Rosé of Pinot Noir, which has instantly earned a place among the finest rosés we've ever tasted -- vibrant, nuanced, and a dream with every course. Dessert brought the ItsNotA 'Snickers Bar' and the Almond Frangipane, both executed brilliantly and the ideal sweet finale to an extraordinary meal. Valette isn't just a great restaurant -- it's our new favorite dining destination, full stop. We'll be back, again and again.
