I really enjoyed meeting Mike and thought his team did a great job cleaning my huge wool rug. It was bought used and very dirty from the owner's dog living on it and it looks and smells like new now! I took down a star because i was promised to have it by a certain day and scheduled an event for the following day. While I can understand emergencies do pop up sometimes, This was frustrating because the reason I chose them was because they said they'd have it done within that time frame whereas other companies had quoted longer. It did not come in time for my event, but it's here now and looks great, no smell and is 100% dry. All in all, it was very much worth it. The price was AMAZING!! $164 for a 9.5x8 foot flokati rug, high pile. He drives to your house to pick up/drop off. Other places quoted $300-600 and don't dry the rug fully. In this Seattle climate, that's a must! We will be using this company again many times. :) Update: just a few months later my apartment complex flooded and Mike came same day to clean my rug again. He threw in a disinfecting treatment for free. Very kind man. We moved to a better place and the rug looks and smells clean still!! read more

I initially called due to the high reviews on Yelp. Technician arrived on time and was quite nice. The carpet in the bedroom was cleaned in less than 30 minutes. I was a bit confused as to why he wanted me to pay $20 cash for the deodorizer service instead of the total price for cleaning on my credit card. He finally agreed to let me put it on my card with a notation of a tip. Upon bringing in cleaning equipment, I suggested he be careful on the laminate flooring. Not even a minute later, he accidentally broke off the molding/trim around one of the steps. He asked to use my restroom. He did not flush the toilet and he went thru my makeup bag on the sink. I noticed because my things had been moved around. I thought this was quite odd and creepy. I called Mike the next day to give feedback regarding the service I received. He mentioned the reason the Technician wanted $20 in cash was because the van gas was low. He offered to pay for the damage to the flooring; however, was having a "hard time believing" me that his Technician would do such a thing in the bathroom. At that point, I ended the phone call and decided to leave a Yelp review. For my next apartment cleaning move, I am going to give another company my business. read more

Pros: Coupon for 20% off on their site, next day scheduling, able to service a townhouse Cons: I wanted a regular carpet cleaning with spot cleaning where red wine had been spilled and where my dog had puked. I've had stains like this cleaned before with no issue by other companies, but I was told that these were permanent stains by this company. Not sure what stains they can get out then? The carpet looked cleaned after he left, but once the carpet dried the stains were still visible. I went after them with some carpet cleaner I bought on Amazon and it's already much better. Another issue, the guy totally dinged my wall up. I noticed a couple of red dings in the wall that hadn't been there that morning and pointed them out. The guy told me it couldn't have been him since he doesn't have anything red. I walked downstairs and saw his bright red vacuum. I pointed this out when I was paying and he got really argumentative with me. Ending up knocking $10 off the price, but I wouldn't use this company again. read more

I have never had a carpet cleaning before, so because I have NOTHING to compare this to I am giving Dander and Daughters a 4 out of 5 Mike was extremely easy to work with, gave me a deal, and for the amount of dirt/dog hair/lived in-ness of my carpet, I think they turned out wonderfully!!! I have used Dander and Daughters for at least 10 years for my kids' rooms and basement. We have a dog that is not always the best and thus, our cleaning always includes the pet stain/odor removal. I have 2 dogs, and while they are well potty trained - one of our dogs eats paper and vomits all over the place. We also had some unsightly laundry detergent stains from a 'Costco size Tide bottle on top of the dryer that fell off explosion'. Overall, the carpet had 2 years worth of wear and tear on it. Mike himself came out to clean my carpet. He showed up on time and got to work promptly. He ensured us that the chemicals he used were pet-safe. We paid him in advance and left our home for a few hours. He vacuums the place and even moved our couch to clean under there (they don't move fragile or small things). He even made sure that the concierge locked our place up when he was done. We were thrilled to come home to much much cleaner carpet. I am going to recommend him to all of my friends... even if they don't think they need carpet cleaning. lol read more

We have used Dander and Daughters multiple times over the years, but thinking we were getting new carpets put in, we held off having them cleaned again for 2 years. With 2 kids, a large labrador and construction project - our carpets were filthy! They came in and spent nearly 2 hours working on our carpet and got out everything - the large area that the dog tends to hang out in - is unbelievably clean. My older cat decided that using the cat box was optional, and to my dismay I found several spots where she peed on the outskirts of the cat box--on some brand new carpet. Chem Dry website advertises a pet urine removal treatment. It's probably the same sort of enzyme product that I buy, but they use a LOT more than I would and with a carpet cleaner. The owner of this Chem Dry, Mike, came to do the job himself. He was on time and super nice. I also had him do a regular clean on my stairs, which were mostly dry within a few hours. (Chem Dry advertises let wet time as part of their system.) He was on his hands and knees helping me sniff out any areas where the cat had urinated that I missed. I suppose that's part of a carpet cleaner's life. I appreciated it. My "bad cat" areas are still wet as they're supposed to be for 24 hours. He said it could still smell badly till dry, but I only smell a mild pleasant scent. I hope when this warm weather dries everything up the urine scent will be gone (at least for me). So far so good. Unfortunately, cat noses are better than ours and there is no way to 100% remove cat urine from a carpet, which will draw them back to it. But this is definitely a large improvement. Issue: Stepped in an awful sludge/grease-like substance on the way to my car after work. Didn't realize it until after getting into my car (car mat ruined...) and walking through the common area carpeted hallways of our 4-plex condo. Fortunately we don't wear shoes past the front door or things would have been much worse. Attempted solution: I looked online and found a few ways to clean/clean grease/oil from carpets but it seemed like too much of an ordeal for the impacted area. I attempted to do so on my shoe and that was a disaster. Shoes went into trash and onto Plan B. Actual solution: Our neighbor said the HOA for our building used Dander & Daughter Chem Dry in the past. I called them up, spoke to Mike, and quickly learned he was the one who had cleaned the very same common area hallways in the past. He gave me a quote that I found hard to believe (was expecting it to cost way more) and I made an appointment on a day of my choice. Mike showed up a tad early (bonus points for punctuality) and was polite, prepared and ready to go. I offered to move things but he said not to worry about it. A couple hours later, the estimated time, Mike was done. The end cost was exactly the same as the quote, which I expected since he knew our building from a previous job. Most importantly, the carpets look amazing! Better than we've ever seen them living here. And the hallways have a pleasant citrus scent! Couldn't be more pleased and highly recommend :) read more

Used Dander and Daughters last year and thought the gentleman they sent did an average job. The main carpeted areas were cleaned reasonbly well but the edges were not adequately cleaned so we had him repeat the process. Felt like we had to look over his shoulder a bit too much to make sure the job was done properly. Carpet drying time was failry long (two days). Probably with the hauling of equipment, he also heavily nicked a corner of our wall leading to the staircase and did not mention it. When I brought it up, he suggested that maybe it was already there and I assured him that it was not so he offered to patch and paint the nick using our spackle and paint and painting equipment. Kind of a waste of time overall with only mediocre carpet cleaning in the end. Hopefully this was just a bad day and not their "A" team. read more

Okay there was one unfavorable review on here but as I work with the public I know some people have unreasonable expectations so I did not let that deter me from tryingthis company out and boy am I glad I did! The cleaner tim showed up right on time and got to work right away. I feel like he may have even cut me a deal with out telling me. My 7 yr old has been dropping food drinks art supplies and nail polish on my carpet for years so needless to say my carpet looked smelled and felt gross. He managed to make it look and smell new again in an hour! He answered all my silly questions was totally professional and did not mind my nitpicking. A younger guy showed up to clean and complained about the coupon but got over it and did a nice job. I felt bad initiating a quote for carpet cleaning of 32 stairs and 6 stairway landings... no carpet cleaner wants to hear "hey, I have a TON of stairs that need cleaning". I was provided a quote and it was dead-on to the final value at the end of the service. Employee arrived on-time and began work immediately. He vacuumed all the stairs and hallways and then began the carpet cleaning. Everything was done perfectly and he even removed a very large stain in one of my rooms. The carpet looked brand new after he left and I felt so bad that the poor fella was covered in sweat - it was a huge job and he did a very thorough job in less than 3 hours. I have a rental property I needed the carpets cleaned asap, they were able to come out the very next day. Guy was very nice, gave me the discount even though I failed to print off the voucher from on-line. Few unknown stains on the carpet came out great ! Except for one which still looks the same but have no idea what it is.... I did have to leave before the guy was done, so luckily he was going to let himself out through the garage. My husband stopped back to get something and caught the guy eating a bag of our chips in the kitchen. They have worked several near-miracles getting out stains. Chem-Dry people have been invariably friendly, courteous, fast, professional, and meticulous. I have a rental house whose carpets have seen some pretty serious abuse. Mike's crew managed to clean carpets that were stained so badly I was nearly certain they'd have to be replaced. Dander and Daughters gave me a spray can of some sort of spot remover to remove spots between cleanings. The spot remover works great, and recently removed a bad stain I thought might be permanent. The company regularly sends me discount postcards and reminders in the mail -- which I appreciate -- and never pesters me with telemarketing or spam. read more

It was easy to go with him because he was really nice and professional, plus his price beat all the other guys (although I think there's a promotion right now). Not all Chem Dry companies are the same; they are owners of franchises. I lost the phone number for one Chem Dry guy I liked, and so I called another one near me. I didn't like the sound of them on the phone as didn't feel I was getting trustworthy information about prices. So based on Yelp reviews I called Mike with Dander and Daughters. He came right when he said he would and was very personable and did a GREAT job. I have light carpets and they look fantastic again and his price, which he told me before he started the work, was very reasonable. (No trying to "sell up," which a different company did after I had moved all the furniture. I told them I didn't appreciate "bait and switch" operations, and told them to leave.) I called these guys based on all the good reviews I found for them. The cleaning method they advertise was appealing as it wouldn't leave our carpets soaking wet. We have multiple pets, like many of the other reviewers, and it sure sounded like this company was familiar with the issues regarding pets and carpets. Except apparently for the guy they sent to do the actual cleaning today. What a JERK. First he showed up a little earlier than I expected so had just jumped out of the shower from the gym. When I didn't answer his first knock (frantically throwing on clothes) he POUNDED on the front door, rang the bell, then started calling my cell... all in less than the time it took me to type this sentence. Hang on dude! I called out the front bedroom window, next to the front door-- "Hang on, I'll be right there". He pounded again. When I opened the door, he just stood there.....until I said, "Yes?" then he introduced himself. He had come in an unmarked white van so I wasn't sure who he was until my eyes caught the company name on his shirt. Because he was a little early I had not yet corralled up my pets and gotten them out of the way. He apparently dislikes cats because he made numerous comments about "you have a cat?" "you have ANOTHER cat?" "Yikes how many cats do you HAVE?" in a very NOT friendly tone while I was herding them outside. I have 4 cats...... one rescue who cannot go outside due to his previous injuries. I put that cat in another room and closed the door, then went to put the others outside. While I was shooing all the other cats outside, cleaning dude went looking for an outlet to plug in his cleaning machine. Now there are easily 5 visible outlets in the room he was cleaning, but he apparently didn't see them and didn't ask me where he could plug his equipment in--- he just went wandering through the house, and into the bathroom around the corner to plug in. Next thing I know the invalid cat is wandering through the room... "what the ..?" I said. The cleaning guy said "oh, were you keeping him in that room?" with a very "tough crap" attitude. Honestly, if he had not already started cleaning I would have just called the whole thing off right then. He finished the furniture and started on the carpet, muttering (no so quietly) under his breath "stupid cats" and "Gross" and the like. When he finished he said "I'm finished....thank GOD".... At this point I could not wait for him to leave. I said "So you are not a fan of cats then?" (I was not smiling). He seemed surprised... and said "Oh, cats are fine. Sure. I'm just in pain, my sciatica is bothering me. Lots of pain". This guy was about 30.... I called the owner as soon as this twerp left and got a VERY lame, unconvincing "oh gee.... I'm sorry....." and then he seemed to run out of anything to say and just sat silent on the other end. Hugely disappointed with the service after the reviews on here.
