My partner was craving a hot dog, so we tried this place. Just from the outside I was starting to have second thoughts, but decided to give it a try anyways. Amazing how long it could take to get a turkey burger (bland and dry), an anemic looking rubbery hot dog with sparingly applied condiments (I've never seen such a thin layer of relish) and pale fries, even though they were fresh and hot. About all I can say is that the food was served hot and the diet Coke was good. I think we would have been better off getting dinner from 7-Eleven. read more

I've eaten here 2 times now. The owners are very friendly and get the orders out fairly quickly. However, I had the chili fries that tasted like canned Hormel chili, pretty nasty if you are used to home made. I had the linguisa dog that was ok, not a high quality sausage but ok. I'll return from time to time when I want an inexpensive quick lunch, but it won't be my first choice anytime soon. read more

Good, fresh, tasty, halal hot links, cheeseburgers and wings. I also liked the chicken strips (delicious with BBQ sauce) however I wish they had honey mustard for dipping. Great spot for some good one American halal food. Their menu has a lot of different options. The owners were friendly and greeted us when we first got there. It's not very crowded every time we've been there. We ordered the burgers and hot links. Both of these items were fresh and delicious! The restaurant keeps an old school diner ambiance. I am not sure how many diners served halal food back in the day. If you're looking for a halal spot and your tired of the same old naan n curry - I would definitely give this a try. read more

This place was mediocre. I thought the decor was gimmicky as it didn't seem to fit. I got a Dandy Dog and paid extra for chili and cheese. The chili was not that great. Nice casual takeout place with Halal offerings (gyro & chicken nuggets only), we tried both of these and they tasted yummy.

If you were looking for the place that serves the most mediocre food ever this is the spot. Very very blah, fries were undercooked and the hotdog was not very good at all. I've had better hotdogs served at little league games. If you do go make sure you ask for xtra on whatever condiments you put on your hotdog because if you don't you're not gonna get much of anything. I think they game me several drops of mustard and several more of ketchup.... if I really concentrated I could almost taste them. If the bun wasn't somewhat discolored I would of assumed they forgot to put it on my dog. If you're desperate fine but if you're looking for a really good hotdog go to Mike's on first Avenue downtown Livermore, you'll thank me! read more

Staff was friendly so I gave 2 stars. But food is not worth the cost or drive from home. Paid $27 for 3 original dogs from the menu, 3 bags of chips and one soda. My son had the chili dog, chili was definitely from a can tasted old a little salt and pepper would have helped the favor. There garlic tomato medley was not fresh you could tell it had sat a few days and lots of garlic was added to cover up the not so fresh veggies & because of this it over powered the flavor of the other items on the dog. I usually get the Dandy Hamburger Combo and it is pretty good. The fries a good, needs some salt, and the burger seems fresh and has a good grilled flavor to it. The problem with this place is the pricing. I order off the menu online and expect to pay the price on that menu but whenever I show up I get some inflated high price charged. A couple times I ordered the Combo, which is $6.95 and they try to charge me over $8, but I always have to explain that I ordered "the Combo", and then they say, "oh, okay" and then lower the price to $6.95. They were trying to charge me for each item individually....huh? The pricing problem continues to get worse, the pricing in the restaurant is unclear, but it's different that what's online. So whenever I order, I have no idea what I'm going to pay until they punch the calculator and tell me the price, which is usually much more than what I was expecting. I get no itemized receipt either. I don't want to argue with a small business owner about a dollar or so discrepancy, it's embarrassing, so I just pay it. But a few weeks ago I ordered a hamburger (no cheese) and fries and they tried to charge me almost $8 for it when it should be around $6. That was it, I'm not going back. So tired of getting shocked everytime they run that calculator and give me an inflated bill. It's ashame too because their food is pretty good. read more

Good place for a good hot dog! They offer shakes, malts, hot dogs, sausage links, fries, onion rings, chicken strips, burgers, and more! The place has a nice diner feel to it. The people who work here are very sweet and nice. Quick to cook up your order. Why only 4 stars? Because they're kinda pricey. Partial Halal Menu here. Owner's are Known Muslims. It's a 50's style Burger joint with 50's music playing in the background. The Burgers, Chicken Sandwich and the Chicken Tenders are Halal. The Jumbo Hot Dog is Halal. I tried the Burger and fries meal. The burger was very good with a strong bun (did not break apart) and the fries were also very tasty. Friendly service. I came back on another day and the owner told me that the burgers are homemade (not frozen patties) and also tried the grilled chicken sandwich (very good), the Jumbo Hot Dog (pretty good) and the chicken wings (okay). Dandy Dogs is so good but a little pricey but it is is well worth it. I love the fries and onion rings. But my favorites are the bacon cheeseburgers and the chicken tenders; a huge amount of food that is so yummy! The only drawback is that service can be slow. read more

I love Top Dog in Berkeley, but when I found this Hot Dog joint I must say it was delicious. I love the Old Diner look. The husband and wife that works there speaks clear english I can understand what they ask me and they understand my order that's a big plus now a days. Best burgers around... I've been coming to this dandydogs since I was a kid the food's great I love the fifties car hop Style Diner decor.

I've definitely seen some hyperbole in prior reviews of this place; Dandy Dogs is a solid dog/burger joint, but it's not going to knock your socks off. It may take you a bit of time to figure out what you want, as they have a large array of dandy dogs (from colossal to polish and cajun), your typical burger options, and a number of sandwiches, sides, and shakes to choose from. But after my meals here I always nod my head in satisfaction, and that's the most important outcome to me. Yes, I can probably find better hot dogs or cheeseburgers somewhere else, and yes, their onion rings leave a little something to be desired, but when you're looking for a 50's themed restaurant/food deep in the heart of Livermore, you really can't go wrong with Dandy Dogs. read more

there is nothing fancy here, but who goes to a place called Dandy Dogs for fancy. We go for the ONION RINGS, the Veggie burgers, and the Chili Cheese Fries. Good Old-fashioned burger joint food. Run by great friendly people. I have never had anything but fast and courteous service here. They are always clean. My Niece's favorite meal here is the Veggie burger w/cheese, piled high and FRINGS (onion rings and french fries). I like the sweet potato fries myself. And my husband well he is a dog guy - Dandy dog w/mustard and relish. It's good, It's local (within walking distance for me.) After a long day at work my husband and I decided to just get some what ever thing on the way home. Although I wasn't feeling picky, when he said he wanted to go to this hot dog place he hadn't been in years, I was unenthusiastic. I'm not a fan of the 'dog, but he told me they had things other than hot dogs, so we went. And I am glad we did. He ordered a couple of dogs and the garlic fries. I ordered the salmon burger and the beer-battered onion rings. I didn't try the dogs but everything else was delicious. The onion rings were perfect, the garlic fries were perfect, the salmon burger though... damn that was literally the best salmon burger I've ever had. And I'm a serious fan of salmon burgers. I ordered mine without the mayo because I don't like it, and trust me, that burger doesn't need it - it's seriously flavorful and not dry in the slightest. Not fast food, but very well worth it, even if you're ravenous after a long day. I wanted to go there last night, but sadly they are closed on Sundays. The dogs here are truly dandy. They have a vast menu of deep fried and mass produced other items, too. Although, I find it rather silly to go to a place named Dandy Dog and try the burger! I have been there a handful of times and their dogs are good. The chili cheese with onion is highly recommended. Regular Dandy Dog with everything is always perfect. Hot link is hot! Their dogs are put together with the utmost care, almost that of a sushi chef...perhaps that is why they take so darn long! It seems every time I go there, I am the only customer, and it takes 15 minutes to whip out a couple of dogs. I would have given them another star, but slow service and lack of any sort of personality took away a star. With that said, I expect that type of service and. I still go back. I ordered a Cajun Hot Link which was grilled right in front of me. It was damn good. Much like any other hot dog place. I will take one star away because they don't have a "public" restroom just an "employee" restroom, which they let me use. BUT is was pretty gross and cramped. Plus they really need to sweep the floors in the restaurant during the day. There was tons of dust and pieces of food on the floor. read more
