Having this bookmarked for quite sometime my boyfriend snd I finally decided to stop in. Parking is not the best. Their lot is only big enough for about 5 cars. For drinks, I had the smoky Mary and my boyfriend had the dang LIT. The smoky Mary came with a piggy popper. We also ordered piggy poppers as our appetizer. They were probably the best stuffed jalapeños we've had. It also came with a good sauce to dip. For my entree I ordered the bbq shrimp. It came with a choice of two sides. I went with Caesar salad and collard greens. Both were good. When we were done I realized it didn't come with cornbread as the menu stated. We were already done, so I didn't mention it. My boyfriend had the smokehouse lasagna. He really enjoyed it and the portion was huge. We also added sausage as we wanted to try it. It was just okay. I wouldn't get the sausage again. After we got home I looked at the menu again as I thought the bill was a little high. My suspicions were correct. We charged more than what the menu says. For the piggy poppers we were charged $18, when the menu says $15. The smokehouse lasagna is priced at $26 and we were charged $27. Not really sure what happened here. It was a decent lunch. Just slightly disappointed about the price discrepancies and not getting cornbread. read more

We wanted to love Dang BBQ because it was highly recommended but, like others have pointed out, the food comes out room temperature. The skillet did nothing to retain the heat. I only liked one of the sauces they had for the brisket I ordered. The only thing that was still hot was the Mac and cheese, but it wasn't anything great. Did not care for the cornbread at all. The meat was tender, flavorful, and clearly slow-cooked with care. Every bite was better than the last -- honestly, it was even better than I expected. I was in the area for a Dr appt and drove passed this place and I said I'm definitely hitting it on my way back ! I placed the order online so it would be ready when I arrive . I parked on the street and walked over as I entered it seemed sort of slow but looked like a legit bbq joint and they had a nice size bar . I went to the counter gave my name and the server from the floor came over to check me out . She explained she gave me extra napkins and extra sauce as well as utensils which I thought was nice I didn't even have to ask . It was a long ride home so I picked on the cornbread a little dry but tasty . When I got home I had the ribs and Mac and cheese as well as baked beans . So the ribs were really good tender and a nice smoky flavor I really liked them . The Mac n cheese was so so not bad but not too good either . As far as the baked beans those were pretty good again nothing spectacular but decent . For me the star was the ribs . We wanted to try something different on our Saturday night dinner outing. We heard that this location was on the brink of possibly closing their doors, so we called ahead to see if there was a place to sit down and a nice young girl said they would hold a table for us (3) until we got there. It was a 25 minute ride. Upon arrival at 6:15pm, there was a tiny parking lot on the side of the building with maybe 6 spots, one of them being handicapped. We backed in to the last spot. It looked like there was street parking as well, but check the signage. We were greeted by the bartender and the owner? when we walked in. They both told us to sit at the table right in front of the door. At first we were hesitant because the door would be opened often, but it turned out to be the best seat in the house because of the live entertainment in the corner, next to the bar. A gentleman playing his guitar to various hits that fit the atmosphere. Think Stevie Ray Vaughn... A young man approached with menus and we asked for recommendations, which he quietly gave. It was hard to hear over the music so we just started to look at the menu. Homemade? chips were brought to the table. We all tried them and the seasoning was not our favorite. They also tasted a bit stale. We ordered a half a rack of ribs that came with 2 sides (baked beans & slaw) and cornbread, a pulled pork platter (slaw and mac & cheese) and cornbread and chicken fingers that came with fries and a juice box off the kids menu. The ribs were OK. The meat fell off the bone but was dry, like it had been sitting a while. The baked beans had good flavor but were very mushy, like they have also been sitting in a vat of hot liquid for a long period of time. The pulled pork was luke warm and plain. You could taste the meat before picking a sauce to try with it. I chose the sweet honey BBQ sauce. It had a nice tang to it but I didn't really taste any honey. It went well with the pork. The mac & cheese came out ice cold. They were informed and another one came out about 10 minutes later. It was warm and had a hint of the same seasoning that was on the chips. Not a fan. Neither was the the kid at the table. The kids meal, however, got a thumbs up. The white meat chicken was hot and tasty. It came with fries that would have been better if they were hot! But they were also tasty. We all agreed that the best part of our meals was the slaw and the cornbread (although the cornbread was cold, like it just came out of the fridge). We didn't order drinks or dessert. By the time we were done eating, all of the tables were full. The gentleman playing the guitar was awesome. We tipped him on the way out. The waiter checked on us once and we had to flag him down for the check. The owner was visible and chatty with the customers. 3.5 stars. I like my food to be hot when it's supposed to be hot and fresh. I understand that this food is slow cooked in batches but it was definitely not timed right with how long it sits or it being reheated. I'm glad we tried it and if in the neighborhood, would probably try it again. I wish them luck in keeping this spot. Tired from the craziness of Christmas shopping we were craving some bbq. We decided we were not too far from Dang that we would dine in for once. The minute we were greeted. The waiter was friendly and the restaurant was clean and in order. I wish I could give more than a three but it may have been an off night. We've done take out mostly from Dangs. The food was very lacking. The burnt ends were not as sweet and crisp. It was missing that bite. Then the platter we order the ribs were beyond dry, very difficult for us to eat , sausage tasted different then the other times, the beans just didn't taste right. They were out of chicken but gave pulled chicken instead. It was ok. It really seems like it was an off night. I did enjoy my drink. I remember leaving here feeling like I needed to be rolled out because I was so full. I just kept eating because it was so good. Highly recommend the pretzel appetizer. My family and I visit this establishment frequently. Tonight rubbed me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, food was amazing as always. Service was terrible. I had Dang BBQ bookmarked for a while, seeing the spot on News12 swayed my Friday lunch choice. Walking in, the restaurant is a cozy space. There's a bar with seating for 20, a few tables and bench seating across the bar. I walk to the back and tell the hostess I'll be sitting at a small table. My waitress comes over, I ask her about the beers on tap. She mentioned IPAs, a Stout. How about a Pilsner? She said they just changed the tap and will bring me a taste. The beer tasted pretty good so I ordered a pint as well as a chopped brisket sandwich. I wasn't in the mood for a large platter so I choice a simple BBQ sandwich. I was asked if I want the chopped bbq with sweet sauce or spicy sauce? I choice sweet sauce?? The sandwich is supposed to come with cole slaw. I sandwich is brought to me with a side of fries and no cole slaw. The waitress is walking by me and I ask about the slaw. Not a problem I'm told, a side of slaw coming right up. This is the only time I interact with a waitress, no one ever came over to ask how my food was or how I'm doing. The fries were served to me cold.. I didn't care at this point, the chopped BBQ taste like a sloppy joe. At this point, I just want to split. The cold fries and substandard BBQ doesn't make me a happy pappy. Today my daughter, my best friend, and I enjoyed a late lunch at Dang BBQ! It was our first time we were pretty excited to get delicious milkshakes and some yummy food. We enjoyed the pool pork sandwich with sweet sauce the pulled brisket sandwich with spicy sauce and the Mac-lasagna. Service was great, food was delicious. Shawn S was our server he was super sweet. He came back a few times and made sure we were OK. Good size portions.... we actually had to take some to go. I will milkshakes also also really good. My best friend had a plain banana shake with whip cream. My daughter had an Oreo milkshake with M&Ms and whip cream. And I had the red velvet cake shake with whip cream. All delicious!!! We came here early Saturday morning. Within minutes there were many patrons. The staff, in particular, the two boys who worked there were the sweetest kids. I think one of them was jr. I think that's his name. He gave us the background on the business how he was there from the start. His enthusiasm and how great the business expanded, showed how proud he was to work there. this kid was clearly raised right and going places. As for the food, we ordered the chicken special wrap. I went to Dang BBQ in Central Islip on Rt111 last night. The food was very filling and overall delicious. I ordered Chicken wings glazed with Garlic and Parmesan cheese. They were very good. I also had the hamburger special and it was also very good. It also happened to be $3.00 off so that made it even better. While waiting for our food the waiter brought out a basket of potato chips that were covered in salt and sugar. They were filling and we used them to sample the many bbq flavors at our table. There are about 20 different ways to order chicken wings. They were meaty and very tasty. My friend ordered the Brisket platter. She said it was ok, but not S Smokey as she would have liked. She chose collard greens and macaroni and cheese as her two sides. They were both delicious. The brisket was well cooked, but I also tasted it and it wasn't as Smokey as I've had before. My friend also had a large shake with whipped cream and it was also very good. Overall, we both gave this place an 8.5 out of 10 because of the brisket. Our server was excellent and very attentive and also had a slight Texas twang that added to the ambience. I would recommend this place. I did see tacos at the next table as well as a plate of nachos with everything. The portions are huge. I am in the place as we speak and I had the best milkshake of my life. The s'mores shake!!! I would never understand why anyone would leave a bad review! Place can get busy at times. Alicia was really good, so was the manager. Will come back I've been back a thousand times since the first initial visit with my boyfriend and best friend. The boss hog is like my go to! Went here for our anniversary on Friday - and couldn't believe the size of the entrees. So so much food. We had the tacos, chicken and rib combo, and boneless wings with fries. We also had the jalapeño popper appetizer and banana pudding but didn't take photos. All of it was delicious and generous. Our waitress was also very present and very good. We decided to start off with a couple of apps, including burnt ends...because who doesn't get burnt ends when doing BBQ, and wings...fried...in the hottest sauce they have; devil's something or other. Look at the menu, you'll figure it out and your body will remind you the next day. Parlayed the apps into a full plate of sliced brisket, collard greens, and chili. Left the restaurant with a take-home container and half the meal in it. The proportions were plentiful, the service from Leah quite friendly and attentive, and a great ambiance with some TVs to watch the game. Decent beer and bourbon selection too. This place is proof that bbq is more of a southern specialty. I ordered sausage and brisket with sides of baked beans and Mac and cheese. The sausage was okay at best. As was the baked beans. The brisket however was dry and was like chewing leather. The lack of any type of BBQ sauce made it even worse. The Mac and cheese was just as dry and over cooked. I ordered this meal through doordash. As a to-go order you would think they would toss in utensils and napkins. Luckily I found a spoon for the beans.
