    Cruben sandwich
    Donald J.

Christina J found this place on one of her excursions, so I had to try it out.from the service the delicious food and the amazing sitting area everything was good. I ordered the fried cod fish tacos, the fish was nice and crunchy on the outside and moist and flavorful inside absolutely delicious. we also ordered the Cruben sandwich which is a mixture of Cuban sandwich and a Reuben with pastrami barbecue roast pork swiss cheese and sauerkraut and it was so good. I will definitely be going back to try something else on there large menu. PS they also have a large sitting area that actually looks like a park a beautiful spot.

5/29 Coming back to The Smoke House brought about a totally…read moredifferent experience. I've been here 2 other times and just decided to give an update. First things first! I felt safe walking inside of The Smokehouse today, no unofficial doorman. The second thing, this used to be a few seats for dine-in, but I can understand why it's strictly in and out. They are very busy, I would say, too busy to deal with cleaning the dining area. That is a good thing for business. I didn't see what I wanted and the young lady, ( I appreciate her so much) was kind and sweet. She informed me of the type fish they serve. I got Whiting, Mac n Cheese, and Greens. The Food* The greens were very tasty, properly seasoned and proportioned well. The Mac n Cheese is always compared to moms. Though the Mac n Cheese didn't hold together like I'm used to eating it. I did find it quite D'licious. What ever they are doing? They, are doing! I had the fried whiting, it had a bit of spicy kick. Very tasty, moist, not over fried or dry. The cornbread was silky smooth and held together on its own. I've never had cornbread that was like butter yet held together and didn't break apart, even when you bite it. I got three pieces, of course for an extra cost and it was so worth the purchase. To sum it up, this is the exact kind of meal, taste included, mind you, that I'm used to eating down south. The smoke house has duplicated a fine Southern dish. Just thinking, if they decided to offer a full sit down experience, like severs, a hosts or hostess to greet diners, table service, what a wonderful world this would be. Pro-Tip: Make sure you get the peppers and onions on top of the whiting. You can thank me later. Inspire more, Yelp more!

Another food safari and another BBQ crawl with my son-in-law (we're both aspiring pitmasters and…read morelove to try new places together; it's our thing). This week's excursion brought us to Struggletown BBQ in Mount Sinai, NY. From what I learned, what started as a food truck morphed into a brick-and-mortar business that has obviously hit its stride. This place is awesome! On the table this time was a "Big John's Sampler", a 1/4# platter of brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and ribs, as well as a side of chicken wings in an Alabama White Sauce and corn bread. Absolute winners all around. My first real introduction to corn bread was from Paul Prudhomme's cookbook "Louisiana Kitchen," where I learned to make, and love, a traditional southern corn bread (moist, flaky, and somewhat sweet). Of all the places that I've been to, in my humble opinion, this place has the best outside K-Paul's. There is a reason that it's one of the most requested items from the restaurant. It was excellent! Why am I making a fuss about cornbread? Because it's the details that make a restaurant great. Next came the chicken wings in Alabama White Sauce. I'm now a convert. Sure, I've had it a few times, but this version was eye-opening! Perfectly smoked, then fried chicken wings slathered in this red-sauce alternative was an epiphany for me. I don't think I'll ever look at the humble chicken wing the same way again. I am spoiled for life! Goodbye Buffalo, hello Decatur (where the sauce reputedly originated). Yeah, that good and worth traveling for. The meats? What you want from a BBQ joint. The brisket, pulled pork, and chicken were all juicy and smoked to perfection; the ribs had a smoke ring that made me jealous of their skill set (I'll get there one day). Have I said "awesome? yet? Plenty of parking, all cards, and they cater! This is one of those places that you'll want to day trip to if you're jonesing for some smoky greatness. Very nice people behind the counter and a magician working the pits. You gotta go here. Just not on a Monday, they're closed.

5 + + + Super super…read moreexcellent! The best brisket on Long Island! We recently used Crossroads Cue to cater a small event. We highly recommend them and will use them again. Also, we will probably stalk the food truck at local events and around town! Sooo good! The guys were amazing to deal with and are clearly experienced professionals! We had a full tray of brisket which was absolutely perfect perfect perfect! I dont know if they used a prime brisket but it sure tasted like an expensive prime brisket perfectly slow cooked into tender flavorful perfection! Not easy! Beautiful bark and smoke ring! The points were juicy tender and pulled apart with just your fingers. The flats were also finger pulling tender and NOT dry! Not fatty! Everything rendered perfectly and not rubbery! They did an excellent job! Worth the price of admission! Best brisket on Long Island! We also had pork belly burnt ends! They were a huge hit! Good enough to eat for dessert! Dont forget to get em! We also had 4 racks in of Texas style spare ribs that came with 4 different delicious sauces! Really good! Forgot, we also had mac and cheese and baked beans, quite good and delicious. Highly recommended! Great food truck but these guys are also an excellent choice for catering! In addition to their food truck they have a large fully equipped commercial kitchen capable of handling fairly large catering events. Oh, and right outside their shop is their custom made giant offset smoker. Ask to check it out! They only burn oak in their off set smoker giving their food just the right amount of delicious subtle smoke flavors to complement their slow cooked premium meats! Sooo good! Oh i forgot to mention, these guys are local guys passionate about bbq and serving people a high quality product! Highest recommendation!
