This business is showing as closed & when the number was called his vm said he was no longer in business. Came out right at end of the day. Tried to snake a couple of times. Charged me $750 & said he'd have to come back out with another guy to bid digging up line to see what needed to be done. Came out & estimate for $20,000.00 not to fix problem but just to dig up & see what needed to be done. I ended up buying my own power snake for $500 & snaked my lines myself & fixed the problem. That was two years ago & it's been fine since I fixed it. If he would have snaked it properly, he could have cleared it... as that's all I ended up doing. Overcharged, didn't do the job & then tried to bid $20,000 extra work that actually didn't need to be done... Maybe that's why he's not in business anymore? My lesson was learned! read more

Update: It's worth noting my plumbing problems have continued and Daniel fish did diagnose the problem correctly.... he didn't fix the problem at that time because it would've taken removing drywall and with his erratic behavior it threw me off even though he did give the correct diagnosis. read more

The hot water valve for the washing machine went bad the night before escrow was going to close on my house. I called Daniel the next morning (the day escrow was closing) to explain my plight, and he said "I'll be there in an hour and a half". And he was. I have never been treated this rudely by a vendor. NOT RECOMMENDED. I called him for a quote, and he treated . I called him on it, laughingly saying, "If you're going to treat me like that, I'll find another plumber." He said, "Good!" and hung up on me! I wanted a simple install of shower fixtures in a new bathroom, and I have been calling every plumber in town for quotes. I've never been hung up on by anyone before, much less someone that I was trying to give money to. He is the only plumber who gave me grief. Use Prater or Lloyd's Plumbing instead. read more

It is sometimes difficult to find a plumber who you believe is telling you the truth. After 12+ years in this community, I've found a permanent plumber. Daniel was prompt, identified the problem, and quickly fixed it. When I showed him another problem (for which he could have charged me hundreds to fix) he said "it's not worth it" and gave me a strategy to deal with the problem. I phoned this plumber to see if he could move a gas line. He said he " might" be available later in the day or the next day. I said great. In the meantime, i called other plumbers because i needed to gas line moved ASAP. Later in the day i had a plumber working on the job when this "gentleman" arrived. He proceeded to tower over me and yell at me that he had already arrived for the job and that I needed to pay him $75.00 for a service fee. Plus, that he had to go to the store and get "parts". The other plumber didn't need parts. He was very rude, disrespectful and tried to be intimidating. I would NEVER recommend him, EVER. He should actually receive negative stars. Hiring Daniel Fish Plumbing to replace my water heater was an expensive mistake. Like many people, I was influenced by the company's positive reviews - but I got burned. I paid more for less, and I will need to have the job redone, thereby doubling my costs. Because I had been dealing with a home warranty company and one of their plumbers before making the appointment with Daniel Fish Plumbing, I had a list of code-related upgrades that were recommended to me. I presented the list to Daniel Fish when he arrived at my house. He said the upgrades were "horsesh!t" and just a way for those plumbers to charge more money for replacing a water heater. It seemed plausible to me at the time, but I later realized I was railroaded into the job that Daniel Fish wanted to do (i.e., a like-for-like replacement of my old water heater with a new water heater) - not the job I wanted done. As shown by the pictures, the job did not turn out very well. The one request I stood by for the new water heater was to have a drain pan. Despite some protest by Daniel Fish, that request was honored - sort of. For reference, the specification provided with the water heater mandated a drain pan at least 34 inches in diameter. What did I get? I got a 28-inch drain pan. Why? Because the 28-inch drain pan was the only way Daniel Fish thought he could accommodate my request for a drain pan and follow through with the job that he wanted to do. (Indeed, the smaller of two drain pans he had on hand was used instead of the larger, more appropriate drain pan.) As a result, the manufacturer-recommended protective cover for the water heater could not be used. Daniel Fish will say that I had a choice, but I was really only presented a dilemma between using the drain pan or the cover (but not both). That said, the piping to the drain valve on the water heater does not leave enough room for the protective cover anyway. Daniel Fish wanted to settle before the job was even complete. (It was Friday, and he wanted to go home early.) I wish I had bothered to ask him for an estimate before he and his assistant began the job. (But slog through some of the Yelp reviews and you will find Daniel Fish does not like providing estimates.) In the end, the job cost me $400 more than an estimate I received from the plumber associated with the home warranty company. That estimate included the code-related upgrades. Later, after a leak developed just 2-3 feet away from where Daniel Fish had worked, I called out yet another plumber to fix the leak. I asked that plumber for an estimate to re-install the water heater with the code-related upgrades. That estimate - which included the code-related upgrades - came out to almost exactly what I paid Daniel Fish for the water-heater installation without the code-related upgrades. As such, I paid Daniel Fish more for less. It should be obvious, but I will add that I was not particularly well respected by Daniel Fish. In addition to overriding me on just about everything, he made himself a little too comfortable in my home. When I locked certain doors around the house restricting his access, I was likened to a "housewife." It makes me wonder how I might have been treated if I had indeed been a woman of the house. Lastly, many people have made comments here regarding magnetic water-softening technology being pushed by Daniel Fish. Save your money! Magnetic water-softening technology has been around for quite some time, but there is a reason it is not a state-of-the-art technology: Magnetic water-softening technology is rooted in pseudoscience. That's right. It's "horsesh!t." Check out this 20-year-old study by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory published by the U.S. Department of Energy: https://www.osti.gov/servlets/purl/567404 In summary: "No beneficial effect was found when using the magnetic device." Mr. Fish, if you are reading this, I am still waiting for the invoice for the water heater. My water heater is excluded from my home warranty until I can provide a copy to the home warranty company. *** Update *** After about 3 weeks, Daniel Fish fulfilled my request for the water-heater invoice and a partial refund. While I appreciate both the invoice and the partial refund, the partial refund was fairly modest. I really wish he would have met me halfway due to the fact that I need to have the work redone. read more

Yesterday, after finding that our fireplace valve was leaking natural gas when turned on, I called Daniel Fish Plumbing for help. I had used this company three other times in three years, and I knew the job would be done right for a fair price. This morning, Daniel showed up at my door on time and within about 45 minutes had fixed the problem, which entailed cutting into drywall to expose the leaky fixture. Mr. Fish told me he would fix the drywall, or, as an alternative I could fix it myself for a lot less money. When I said I would attempt the patch, he gave me great instructions on how to do the job, and even supplied me with drywall mud and tape. After he left, I finished the work in a short amount of time. Daniel's fee was very reasonable, as I expected, and since he continues to do quality work, I will definitely call him for my next plumbing repair. It's nice to have the number of a good local plumber. read more

Buyer beware! Daniel is what I would call a "know it all." He is very pushy and "my way or the highway" kind of plumber. I called him prepared with an inspection with video, knowledge of what/where the problem was and he convinced me (I am NOT a plumber) the inspector was wrong and he was right. LONG story short, we had huge issues because the problem was, in fact, not fixed and the inspector was dead-on correct. It took a long time, huge headaches and a new plumber to fix the problem. To anyone looking for a plumber, just be very aware of who you are hiring and be prepared to be insistent on what you know is right. The owner: I needed a kitchen sink faucet removed and replaced. Something a plumber does many times. You think they could give a price. But he yelled at me about why they could not do that. He said they charged $100 an hour and could come out right away. I though that was fair, and because they could come right out, I accepted. The plumber: The plumber who came (his brother) was very nice, he was efficient, and did the job in one hour. They charged me $225. When I objected, he called his brother, who again yelled at me and said it was $100 to just come out and another $100 for the time. (A $25 valve had to be installed, bringing it to $225.) I'm still in shock the way this man behaved today that I felt a review was necessary: He had such great reviews, I called asking for an estimate. He cut me off quickly while I was explaining my plumbing issue and said 'Just text me your name and address.' After he arrived, he said I should call the landscaper who installed the drip system but he could put a cap on since I owe him $100 for coming out anyway. I said I was only looking for an estimate. He immediately stormed off after saying, 'never call me again' and peeled out of my neighborhood. If he had taken time to listen to my concern and let me know he would charge $100 to drive a couple miles, I would have never wasted his time. Rip Off! Called this contractor and explained we have a septic tank and gases are coming into the house when water had not been run in the drains recently. I suggested a small leak in a pea trap he proceeds to test with a electronic hand held tester. I did not have a smell at the time because the drains were just used by my wife he stayed 10 minutes and charged $125 he did not tell me amounts of the charges up front. Called him back to let him know that the smell is present again he wanted to charge us again for testing. I can smell the gas don't need to give him another $125 for 10 min of not doing or suggesting anything. He should have come back the second time and took a better look without charging. A good plumber will usually charge $65 to $75 for a service call to diagnose the problem and talk the repair cost before work begins. read more

I called Daniel the day before Christmas Eve at 9am and he was at my door by 9:20. All I knew was I had no hot water and the floor under my tank was wet. I couldn't even tell him what size tank I had or when it was purchased (later found out how to find both those answers on the tank). Daniel could have told me anything and I would have gone along with it (I just wanted to take a shower and was willing to do or pay whatever it took...wasn't going through the holiday with no hot water)! He problem solved and realized it wasn't the hot water heater but was a leak in the pipe leading to the hot water heater. He replaced the pipe, relit the pilot in the water heater, helped to soak up all the water, gave us hugs and was on his way. Saved me over $1000 by being honest. As a House Manager for a high profile family in Malibu, I knew exactly who to call when they had plumbing emergencies.
