I had Dan fix my water main from the street to the house, the sprinkler valves, and a broken drain pipe (kitchen wall). I watched and asked questions along the way to understand the task. Dan was more than happy to answer all my questions with enthusiasm. Once the main line was completed, the water was turned on and there were no leaks!! The broken pipe appeared a bit more challenging however Dan was able to cut the pipe out and replace it within 2 hours and again no leaks!! Over the past 8 years I have had Daniel work for me on various occasions. He has installed a tankless water heater, changed all of the pluming under our house from galvanized to copper, reworked the plumbing in our kitchen during a remodel, and helped us pinpoint some major sewer issues that ended up needing to be fixed by the city. i was very impressed with the thoroughness of Daniel Fish. we had an issue with methane gas in our office suite which was a difficult thing to trace the source of without tearing into the walls. it required some real creative efforts to locate the source of the issue which included investigating the ceiling, adjoining offices, and tarping and isolating sections of our office. all-in-all he did an outstanding job of searching for, isolating the problem, and repairing a hidden unexpected damaged area under the toilet. his concern and following up was geniune and sincere. Called Daniel seemed like a nice really friendly guy came over without hesitation. I was lucky. I was fixing a pin leak in a cold water line in kitchen and he was able to pinpoint leak and fix with new piping within one hour. We have used Daniel Fish Plumbing 3 times in the last 6 months, after purchasing a 20 year old home that hadn't been taken care of well the last few years. Each time Daniel promptly returned my text with a phone call and came over very quickly. He has fixed all the issues we had the first time and we have had no problems since. Daniel himself repaired a troublesome leaking toilet that another plumber had supposedly fixed, but didn't. My wife called Fish Plumbing for one of our clients house in Oxnard. When Mr. Fish arrived, I showed him the 2 issues we had. One leak under a bathroom sink and one drain that needed to be cleaned (hair inside the drain). I guess Mr. Fish was there to make money because within the first 3 minutes he was there, he showed us other future potential problems with the plumbing in both downstairs bathrooms. I asked him how much all the work would cost because I had to call my client and get his approval. Mr. Fish told me it would cost $300. I then called my client and told him about the future potential problems and the $300 that Mr. Fish was going to charge for everything. My client who trust me said yes right away to all the work and to the $300. Mr. Fish did all the work in about one hour. I was happy with his speed of work and I already called my next appointment to let them know I would be there shortly. When Mr. Fish gave me the invoice, the $300 agreed upon became $437.50. I asked him why such a huge difference in the price. His answer was that he had forgotten to tell me about his Call Fee and then, he also reminded me that he also had to clean the drain in the second bathroom and that even though he normally charges $75 for this "very difficult job", he had only charged me $25. I concluded that his call fee had to be $100. On top of that, because I was paying with a credit card (Visa), there was another 3% fee for the transaction. read more

My husband called Daniel Fish, plumber, because of a faucet that needed repair. He came promptly and was pleasant as I met him at the door. I described what was wrong; he looked at the faucet and began to tell me the problems were probably caused by soft water usage and that we should be using some sort of magnets on our pipes, which would eliminate the need for a soft water. He of course sells these magnets. I will not go into how he said soft water "burns" our skin and our pipes. He continued his lecture as he turned off the water into the house. He then stated he would need some tools/parts to fix the faucet and started out to his truck and that since the faucet was not a common make he would probably need to go buy the part. I said wait a minute, you have not told me what you are going to do or what you are charging me to fix the faucet. He said rather rudely, "How would I know I haven't looked at it yet but I do know you owe me $100.00 just for coming out here, but I do know it will probably cost you at least $200.00". I asked if the $100.00 fee would be applied to the cost of fixing the faucet, which most plumbers do. NO, he said that is my fee for bringing my truck to your house. I asked if that was the arrangement he made with my husband. He said again, you owe me $100.00 for coming out to your house. At this point, I called my husband to find out just what kind of arrangements had been made with this man and he (my husband) said Mr. Fish said nothing about a $100.00 fee just to drive his truck to our house. I suggested my husband talk directly to Mr. Fish. He said the reason he did not say anything about the fee is because husband did not ask if there was a fee. The phone conversation deteriorated from there and Mr. Fish rudely threw my cell phone down on the granite counter. I suggested to Mr. Fish there was no reason to be rude to either my husband or me and he replied why not, I'm probably not going to get my $100.00 from you people. At this point I asked him turn the water back on and to please leave. As he was leaving he rudely said to me "there's no point in asking for the $100.00 payment because stupid-assed people like you are not going to pay it". I will let you make your own judgement, based on this encounter, as to whether or not you would call Daniel Fish when you need plumbing repair. As you can see he has many 5-star evaluations. I would suggest that these evaluations are suspect and I would like to know who actually wrote them. read more

Very disappointed, I do not recommend! He came to look at my water heater that was not working. He said it was because water that dripped from hose spout made the inside wet so it needed to dry out. Then he opened it up and tried to yank the burner out. Because he did not know the correct way to remove it, he tried to force it out and in doing so broke the gas line inside the water heater. Then he called for replacement parts (it was under warranty). He charged me $150 for this visit. He said it would probably be another $150 when he returned to put the replacement part in but it could be more. Excuse me?!! you charge me $150 to break things and then want a blank check to replace what you broke? Does not stand by his work, very disappointed. read more

We got in over our heads with a remodeling project and needed to move some main pipe lines in order to remove a wall (This involved jack hammering into the slab and re-routing pipes that came down from two upstairs bathrooms). I got a quote from another plumber and then called Daniel Fish to see if he could do it for less. He saved us about $600 and had it done in a day and a half! Daniel has been in the business for years and knows his stuff. He is a very friendly, honest, hard working man. He worked 8 1/2 hours straight and never sat down to rest. He's a good problem solver to say the least. It's also nice to have the owner of the company do the work rather than an employee who might not care as much about customer satisfaction. I have a condo in escrow and there was a leak which damaged the flooring that was just put in. I was able to stop the leak but I needed a plumber that day to fix the valve that was broken. I called no less than 15 plumbers at 1pm and Daniel was the only one that said he would be able to help that same day. He told me he would be there around 5:30 and he called on the way over to the house about two hours early. I was impressed the guy worked hard and got the job done quickly. To say the least, I was skeptical when I found Daniel's glowing reviews on the net during my crisis search for a good plumber. The reviews seemed unbelievably good. I was in a potentially disastrous situation with just two days left before the close of escrow, and I didn't want a plumber eager to take advantage of my situation by over-charging me just because I was between a rock and a hard place. To be sure, Daniel is a no-nonsense straight shooter. I caught him at just the right moment and within hours he was digging holes, diagnosing and eradicating the problems created by previous plumbers. There was a leak in the slab of the house, or so we suspected, so we had him come out to check it out. He was very upfront and honest about everything he was doing and what our options were. We ended up opting to replace all the pipes, as the old ones were all slowly deteriorating, and it was a better deal to do it all at once (though still expensive!). He took a total of 3 days to get the work done, but considering the amount of work, this seems reasonable. In the process, we happened to mention a couple power outlets that went bad, the homeowner asked if he could recommend an electrician. Turns out, he knew exactly what to do! He tested the outlets, and told us which one to replace, and how. On top of it, he happened to have an extra outlet in his truck! So we got our electricity fixed for free! Also, a day or so after he finished the job, the homeowner noticed the garage smelled like gas, so we called him, and he told us what to do. He said it was likely the clothes dryer gas line, gave us a way to check it, then said just shut it off to be safe, and he'd come as soon as he could. He came, replaced the line, for free, and was on his way!! He is a very nice, honest, real person, so if you'd rather someone sugar coat things/not give you the (possibly harsh) truth, he is not your guy. If you want someone that tells it like it is, and is knowledgeable and experienced, as well as genuinely cares, he is definitely the one to call. read more
