I think my wife would be able to give a more detailed account of our interaction with Daniel, but i'll give you the overview. We found Daniel here on Yelp and we went with him over the other photographers because he was easy to get in touch with, nice in person, and we likes his portfolio. When we met him we saw him for the nice and fun guy that he is. It was important for us to feel like we're dealing with a person instead of a stiff robot (if that makes sense). On the wedding day, he was awesome! He directed us very well and even took some specific shots for us. He even put up with all the family and friend pictures after the ceremony haha! We had some issues of losing light (winter marriage) and he decided to take some more pictures at the church before we headed off to the reception area and this turned out to be a GREATA decision since it was very dark soon. Had we waited, those ceremony pictures would have been dark. He had worked at our venue before, so he knew his way around the place and did his thing. I focused on enjoying the moment and making sure my new bride was happy, and Daniel took care of the awesome pictures. We got back all the pictures within a month and my wife went back and forth with him over email to pick some photos to touch up and to re-edit. In the end we were SUPER HAPPY and i would recommend Daniel Hon to anyone. My fiance and I booked Daniel for a 2-hour engagement shoot in 2 locations in San Jose. It was great working with Daniel! The goods: - He was communicative/ responsive, which was really important to us! - He did his research on the locations. I had two fantastic experiences with Daniel - truly a 5 star photographer. First, I hired Daniel to take both candid and posed pictures the day I proposed to my fiancee. This required us to coordinate so Daniel could find us on the beach (surprisingly hard on a beach with no landmarks!), set up in a non-obvious place, and take pictures of the actual proposal. Daniel did a fantastic job on this - the proposal pictures turned out really well! After I actually proposed, we did 20 minutes of posed photos on the beach. Like others have mentioned, Daniel suggested some really good poses and these pictures also turned out great. Second, based on the positive experience, I hired Daniel to be the photographer on our religious engagement day - this involved a HIndu ceremony in the morning followed by a restaurant dinner at night. Daniel again did a great job, especially for the morning ceremony. He really captured the joy of the event and there are so many wonderful family pictures that were created. Out of purely the goodness of his heart, Daniel actually worked 30 minutes longer than we'd agreed on in the morning because, as he said, "he was feeling inspired". Across both days, Daniel was wonderful to work with. He was always early, communication was clear and easy, and he struck the right balance of listening to what he wanted but then filling in the gaps with what he thought would work well. As a really nice bonus, he brought his fiancee with him to both events - and she's also a photographer (congrats again!). Daniel's rates were also very compelling when compared to other photographers in the area. Last, the he overdelivered vs the turnaround times he'd quoted in the invoice, and even was able to accommodate a special request we had to get a small handful of pictures a bit early. My partner and I asked him to shoot some Maternity photos for us both at 6 months and at 9 months. Despite having never shot that genre before, he enthusiastically accepted the challenge. I hired Daniel for my engagement and wedding day last November. My friend referred him to me. His profession really really impressed me during the first met up. He was willing to meet up at Vallejo which is almost an hour away from his office. Although he is not a wedding planner, he knows everything about planning and he actually stayed with me at the location for 1 hour to give me advice how to setup the ceremony and reception.
