I am so happy I was referred to Dr. K. I had an aggressive dentist who I didn't know was doing unnecessary work until down the line. When I came here, my previous dentist of 10 years had filled all my teeth aggressively re-doing fillings every 2 years or less. The amount of tooth I had was diminishing fast. I'm young and haven't eaten sugar and minimal carbs for 8 years. Then, after re-doing all the fillings in my mouth he told me I needed 3 root canals when I was in no pain. I knew I needed a second opinion. I was referred by close family to Dr. K. At my consult he spent 1hr 30 mins with me telling me what he thought the history of each tooth was first and then I told him what happened. It was the most comprehensive care I've ever gotten. He suggested I needed none of the root canals and in fact no work whatsoever except a small filling on a tooth was causing me pain (the one causing pain was not even a tooth the other dentist wanted to do a root canal on). Dr K has continued to treat me as a patient even when I just want a filling or some chipped teeth fixed even though it isn't his specialty. He has such an artistic eye, I had one tooth chip half way off 10 years ago and had got it done by various dentists but his job was by far the most complimentary to my tooth shapes and has lasted the longest. His compassion for my new-found anxiety with dentists and ability to explain calmly every step of the way is unparalleled. I can't say enough good things. I wouldn't say he's insanely affordable but you get what you pay for and dentistry is no place to "cut corners" like I use to. It'll end up costing more in the end. If you want an extremely conservative and understanding dentist, he is the way to go. Wish I met him when I was younger! read more

Copy of Dental board complaint I originally saw Daniel Kantarovich for a cavity repair. Decay had presented itself below a previous filling and was painful. The doctor removed and put in a new filling. The filling did not resolve the pain issue. The doctor stated a second attempt may resolve the issue and removed the new filling and placed a temp filling in the tooth. It was recommended to me that the tooth decay and repair attempts had damaged the tooth deep enough to necessitate a root canal. After this, I discussed with this dentist along with a root canal specialist. All parties agreed on the treatment and started the process. The plan was to complete the crown, then before the permanent crown is implanted, to complete the root canal, then return for the permanent placement (so as not to damage the permanent crown. After the crown was completed, I had received a notice of denial as the dentist did not report the tooth as damaged enough to require a crown or root canal. In addition, I was contacting the dentist to have my permanent crown added. The office informed me I need to have a new procedure to install a post. This was not part of the plan discussed by the dentist previously. Not only did the dentist charge me for a 2nd filling as the first one did not work (I am ok with this trial and error attempt), now he is trying to charge me for a new crown procedure, previously not discussed, mid procedure, along with money the insurance didn't cover due to improper information submission. I needed a root canal!!! I dreaded going because I've had root canals done before and they have been awful. So I wasn't looking forward to another one. Well I can't say I understand why, but this one was extraordinarily NOT painful. At all! Except for paying the bill. Dr. Kantarovich is awesome. No matter how hopeless you think your situation may be, Dr. K can take care of you. He insures that everything is done to perfection which I am now learning that if not done correctly, causes major problems down the road. I used to go to Dr. Kantarovich on a referral from my orthodontist and found him to be an honest and good dentist as far as I could tell. I liked him enough that I recommended my boyfriend to the office as well and we both made the 30 minute drive for many appointments. Sadly, the way he and his office staff treat patients is so appalling that neither my boyfriend nor I will return. My bf recently had an appointment for a cleaning and we ended up having a horrific morning at the vet with our puppy facing emergency surgery in a pretty dire situation. My bf stepped out of the vet's office in the midst of this mess to call and let them know he wouldn't be making it to his appointment. Even though he told them it was an emergency for our dog, the receptionist told him he owes $65 for his missed appointment. The receptionist even called back several minutes later and put Dr. Kantarovich on the phone to condescendingly tell my boyfriend "I'm not saying you're a bad guy," but because he missed his appointment, he put Kantarovich in the hole $65 because that's what he has to pay his hygienist to be there whether the patient shows or not. Huh? My bf didn't have the time or energy to argue, and while I was disgusted with the way they handled the situation, I didn't think there was any way they would actually follow through on that. Today, my bf received his $65 missed appointment bill in the mail. I find this office to be incredibly callous, greedy, and well, disgusting. read more

STAY AWAY!!! If I could give him zero stars, I would. He and his staff pushed me repeatedly and aggressively on getting an entire set of x rays. I explained that I just had just done them not too long ago and didn't want to do another set. After relentlessly pushing me on it, they said I would probably need them before starting my orthodontic treatment and asked if I would get them if my orthodontist wanted them. I said yes and they reported back that they called him and he said he wanted a set - so I reluctantly agreed. Well, turns out that when I went to my orthodontist later that exact same day - he said he didn't need them. They totally lied to me and it makes me wonder what else they potentially lie to their patients about in terms of cavities etc - just to make a buck. Definitely won't be going back and will likely file a complaint with the medical board. Also as I started asking other dentists their opinion of him, I got a lot of "no comment" - which speaks volumes in terms of his reputation. read more

I had 2 very difficult extractions that 1 dentist and 1 oral surgeon couldn't do and Dr K. handled them no problem with minimal discomfort. He suggested a bone graft on one, and implants on both. 5 years later they function just like my original teeth and I couldn't be happier....I now drive an hour to go to Dr. K for my cleanings. I am a winter snowbird who is always out in SoCal for months on end. Who wants to stay in Chicago when it's cold? I had a broken molar (due to biting on an almond that split the tooth in half on a Sunday of course). A girlfriend recommended Dr K. I had a great experience. The staff is always helpful and engaging and Dr K did good work under a tight timeline. I loved my dental hygienist and will be using their services in the future. I have been under Dr. Kantarovich's care for over 10 years now. He is FANSTASTIC!.He's extremely thorough, knowledgeable and very light handed and Very funny too.... I can barely feel the anesthetic shot when given! My three kids and myself see him twice a year for regular check ups and cleaning. His entire staff is cheery and very professional and I love how accomodating they are. I basically go every January and June and am able to have us seen back to back. Dr K is okay for doing a normal crown. But when it comes down to difficult cases, he cannot deliver what he promises. He is very confident he can do about anything when you meet him at first. But when you appear to be a more difficult case than he anticipated, he gets impatient, wants extra money, his bedside manners change, etc.. In my case, I spent much money (over 40k$ in total) to restore my teeth and bite. He could not get my bite right, and - as it appears now after seeing other (more capable) dentists - he misdiagnosed my case and did not refer me to the right people to correct my bite. Dr K refuses to admit his failure and does not want to refund anything. I wasted much, much money on Dr K, based on his super confident and friendly attitude at first. People, don't be fooled by this dentist - there are better dentists in case you are a "difficult case". read more

I've been going to Dr K for over 15 years. He was able to fix all of the bad work that other Dentists had screwed up. I've had major reconstructive work done by him, and it has all been perfect.
