We have been here a few times, usually for breakfast because their breakfast combos are reasonably priced at $9.49.Their one item combo is $11.49 and the two item combo is $15.49. They have decent breakfast and lunch selections. I went with the two item combo but we actually wanted three items, so I got a small size of the sinigang. Other than the combo options, they do not have any posted prices of aka carte items or the prices of the individual small, medium and large containers. I asked how much a small is and the guy said it depends on the item. They should just have a set price on the S,M,L containers. Anyway I got the two item combo with Lechon Kawali and the tofu & Pork ears along with the small sinigang. When I went to pay it was $29.70. I should have questioned it, but instead I asked for a receipt. That didn't do any good because all they gave me was the charge receipt and not itemized. Later when the line dwindled down I asked again how much the small sinigang was and why did my $15.49 combo become almost $30.00? She said the small sinigang was $10.79. If I knew how much they were charging me I could have just ordered two of the two item combos or a single item combo and for about the same price I paid, I would have gotten more. That's Filipino service for you. If they cared about their customers, the lady could have suggested to just order a combo instead of the individual entree and I would get more value for the similar price. If there's a next time, I know what to do. If they aren't going to advice customers of the price because they don't show it posted for us to see, then I'll ask them for the price of each item and see if they get annoyed with me. The other annoying thing that happened is she asked if we were eating it there or to go and I said we would eat it there so she gave us one plastic fork and one spoon. The annoying thing is you have to go back to the counter and the line was so long and the two people there were both serving the customers ordering food, so I hate to be rude but I had to cut them off and say you only gave me one set of silverware, I need another. Meh. I came here for breakfast because I heard it was good and better than lunch. If that was their best, then I definitely won't recommend this place. I ordered the breakfast special with two scoops of rice, egg and longanisa. The menu said you can order one more item for $1 so I added the tocino. My bill went from $8.99 to $18.99. I asked her why the $10 difference and she said I now had two items. I pointed out the menu said $14.99 for two items, why the additional $4. She said my two items are now premium plus the egg made it $18.99. I pointed out the menu and the prices and she pointed to a small menu on the cash register that listed different prices. Although it was an apparent bait and switch, I still paid because I was craving the dish. The food was mediocre. The longanisa was very fatty with huge fat chunks. The tocino was not so bad if you like lots of gristle on the poor slices of meat. While I was eating my food, I saw the cashier argue with just about every customer when they were checking out about the higher prices not matching the televised menu. I saw the cashier put a customer's food back in the food trays to be served to another customer. Aside from the food being suitable for people who are used to eating poor cuts of meat, terrible customer service, higher prices than posted and disgusting food handling practices, there really is nothing positive about this restaurant. Searched for pinoy food options in Artesia and Daniela's Kitchenette actually was the top option. They are located inside Fresh Catch Supermarket. They have a small selection, but everything is very good. This was perfect for my friend and I. We each ordered the special combo with 2 items which starts at $ 14.99. We ordered 4 different items (Kare- Kare, Pork Sinigang, Sisig, Menudo) and happy to report, not only were the portions generous but all 4 dishes were 5/5. I overheard 1 customer saying their BBQ here is the best, will have to try that next time. Would definitely come back here again. read more

This place is so good if you want Filipino food. Came around 11am. Their breakfast platter had ended but I got the special combo that's $15 and comes with rice and 2 dishes. All the dishes are well seasoned and go great with rice. The people working there were super nice as well. The guy that helped us gave us recommendations that were on point. The dining area is pretty big since it looks like they're the only restaurant. Tables were clean and it's easy to navigate around. The restaurant is located inside the grocery store but apparently they open early and there's a side entrance you can use if the grocery store isn't open yet. The cashier is so rude. I ordered breakfast , but since the egg is not yet cooked she said egg and rice will follow. It been 15 minutes no eggs and rice. I approached the cashier and she even investigated if I was not able to get the rice and egg, after she found out, she came back to cash register and she said that egg is not yet cooked. And I told her that my companion will soon be finished eating. She said I cannot do something about it. Food was ok, but doesn't really compare to Pinoy Pinay or some of the other filipino food places in the area. I've heard that the breakfast is better, but we missed it by 15 minutes. We got the adobo and the skewer but they were both not really great. Might try again one day for breakfast just to see if that's better. read more

ok here we go. i've been holding on to this review for a while until i tried both the breakfast and lunch menu options. first things first is the service. personnel are friendly and knowledgeable about their food options and are always cheerful to the customers. now comes the food part. i like the tapsilog. i'm very particular with tapsilog because most of the time the tapa is dry and chewy. not this time. their tapa is so juicy and marinated nicely. i like the fact that the garlic rice is packed with garlic and the serving is generous. next is the swordfish. i really went back to try this because according to the reviews and some of my friends, say that it's good. i cannot deny that it is something i will be coming back for. the simplicity of it and the taste of the grill and freshness of fish is so satisfying. i don't really review and say this much about restaurants but i must say that i'll be coming back. ps: plus 1 star for the generous scoops of rice! ;) read more

Found this hidden gem this morning. The Pilipino breakfast was delicious and fresh, fairly priced at $8.49 per plate. The lugaw (rice soup) was tasty. It is located inside an Asian market. They open at 7AM, but the market doesn't open until 8AM. I almost drive away, but I'm glad I called because the nice lady who answered told me that the entrance is on the right side of the building - a small door down an alley that I would not have known about. Went here on a Friday morning because I was craving Asian food after primarily eating American food for the past 4 days on a cruise ship. There were already a ton of options to choose from despite arriving there at 9:45 am. Two item combo. Grilled pork, Jeprox (salted, dried smelt fish) with garlic rice ( $13.99): the pork was tender and juicy with a decent amount of fat. The jeprox was crispy with the typical salty flavor, but it was even better when vinegar was added. The garlic fried rice was fluffy with mild garlic flavor. Overall, it was an 8/10 rating. The ambiance is relaxed, as it is on the right side within the grocery store with plenty of tables to dine in, and about half of the patrons take their food to go. The service was fast and attentive. I've hit many a Filipino resto and Daniela's is definitely the best "turo turo" (just "point" and eat right away style) spot in the south bay. All the dishes I've tried are reliably spot on flavorful - Filipino comfort food at its best. Their lechon kawali / fried pork belly is crispy (never chewy) and melts in your mouth. It comes with traditional sweet-ish mang tomas brown sauce but I prefer to ask for suka / vinegar sauce on the side - cuts through the fat better. When you get a combo (around $15 for 2 items & rice), they hook you up with a generous portion plus sabaw (broth from their soup of the day) on the side! I love their nilagang baka / beef soup with marrow bone broth. Good catering options too! I ordered a tray of their lumpia for a birthday party and it went like hot cakes. Nice crunch and more flavorful than any other catering I've had in the area. If you want to try their yummy Filipino breakfast spread, definitely arrive before 9am - this is a beloved local hole in the wall and by 9am the options start selling out. read more

Been coming here for years. It's very simple turo turo place inside a super market (before the super market opens you have you enter through the side). Definitely out go to for breakfast for their silog options. My late sister loved their champurado. The owner is really friendly as well as the staff that work the front. Recently I had a friend try the tocino and tapas - she never either. She loved the tocino. The garlic rice wasn't as garlicky like it usually is but they have such high demand for it that I'm sure that's why first batch is the one you want to get - we typically get there when they first open. read more

I was looking for a Filipino restaurant that served breakfast around my area and happened to come across this hidden gem. I've been here several times and tried a wide range of their items so here's a little break down: - Garlic fried rice is pretty good. Could use a little bit more garlic in my opinion. - breakfast combo comes with one egg, wish it came with two. - longanisa: pretty standard but keep in mind they only give you two pieces - tapa: one of my favorite items. Marinated very well and the meat is quite tender. Great portion size as well! - tocino: large portion and great thick pieces of well marinated pork. - tortang talong: not my favorite dish. Wish it was cooked a little long for some crisp but it does have decent flavor. - corn beef: depending on how you like your corn beef, you will either hate it or love it. It's very soupy. I contacted the owner of this place after my daughter told me how the servers treated her with such disrespect and laughed because she can't speak in tagalog after her response in English with their question to what she wanted. She came there at around 9am and ask for longsilog and they told her she has to pay $2 for each egg and she has to order another entree. So she had to pay $20 to get a breakfast. Now I have explained this to the owner, I believe his name is Don from what he mentioned on the phone. He as well kept laughing with every remarks. I spoke to him in tagalog and he as well did the same thing his other workers did and sarcastically said in english that my daughter probably misunderstood them. I told him my daughter understands tagalog but can not speak it. And if she mentioned longsilog, why would they mention for her to pay the eggs and to choose another entree. My daughter felt that they were being biased and have looked at her fiance who was French with such filth. Regardless of race, they shouldn't look at them and sarcastically treat them differently. When I said to Don on the phone "why are you laughing when I'm simply explaining to you to reassess your workers and probably review your videos" he then stopped with his sarcasm and became defensive. He then told me "what do you want A refund?". That's not a solution for someone who is a higher up especially an owner. There is no apologetic comment, not once. That is not dignified and that is not how you treat your customers. I'm not the type that sticks up for my kids without knowing the full story but I know my eldest is very calm and sweet when she speaks. So it was unlike her to speak up when someone is being rude because she is smarter than to argue with someone regarding food service. BTW my daughter mentioned the kare kare isn't kubo (resto in LA) standard. and the sinigang wasn't even a traditional pork sinigang and asked me if maybe they are from a different city in the phillipines. We had a great experience with Daniela's Kitchenette. Definitely made the right choice picking them to cater for my grandma's celebration of life. Everyone loved the food and were going back for seconds. They were true to their word and have everything prepared at the agreed upon time, unlike past experiences with other Filipino places where food was not ready on pickup time. Turbo Turo style...point and chose. I went with Tocino only because they were out of Beef Tapa. The Tocino was good, the garlic rice was just ok. The Mister had longenesia and some kind of spare ribs paired with garlic rice. Again, just okay. As I was getting water they started bringing out more food. BBQ sticks that looked so good. Breakfast here feels like home cooked meals. They go pretty fast so by 10AM most of breakfast items are gone so get there earlier to enjoy the yummy breakfast combos. They close at 2pm so lunch moves quickly too! I'm writing this after my 5th visit to make sure I wasn't experiencing a fluke the previous times. We'll start with the economics: absolutely reasonably priced! The portions are healthy and not overwhelming so, visually and quantity-wise, you are getting more than your money's worth. Now the food. I've been looking for a quick Filipino option at a decent price point. I already said the price was righteous. The food is unbelievable! It definitely tastes home cooked with love and not rushed just to sell units. I kept looking into the kitchen to see if my lola was back there cooking. If you can, get here early for the silog offerings. The meats are cooked to perfection and seem to be handpicked to the point where there isn't too much excess fat. I've had a few of the lunch items and the stand outs are the grilled liempo and the chicken wings. The wings were absolute fire with the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Texture overall was nice with a slight crunch on the outside and juicy goodness on the inside. The liempo was something else! Grilled to perfection and, again, must have been carefully selected because the fat to meat ratio was perfect. The food is definitely worth trying but what makes this place stand out is the staff!
