What I got (left) versus what it should normally look like (right).

Tried to reach out to them by phone and email to give feedback privately, but after waiting a few days with no contact, it's clear that management/ownership doesn't care about service and standards and it shows in their decline over the years. I used to be a regular here when I lived in the area and now I try to stop by whenever I'm around the area to support a mom and pop place I used to frequent. I noticed the quality of the food slowly declining over the years, but always gave them the benefit of the doubt of it just being an "off day". The other night, a friend and I ordered take out and both of us got bacon fried rice. Not only was the green onions missing, which wasn't a big deal if that was the only issue, but the fried rice was completely inedible because of how salty it was. It tasted like they just dumped a bottle of soy sauce into it and it looked like it too (see photos). I even tried adding over a cup of white rice and refrying it to dilute the saltiness, but it STILL was too salty so I ended up trashing it since I was obviously pissed off at that point. I got this for dinner that night since I didn't want to cook, but not only did it ruin my dinner, it made me still have to cook and throw away my food/money at the same time. And the insult to injury is that I was the one actively trying to reach out to them to give feedback, but nothing. You guys lost a long time customer with this one.

Loco Moco with Island Fried Chicken instead
    Mikey V.

I finally came back after 20 years. It feels different but the food is still good. I remember the place being a lot busier. We went on a Friday night and it was slow. I ordered the Loco Moco but instead of the patties I went with the Island Fried Chicken and went sunny on the eggs. It was soo good with the chicken! The portions could be better. I'd prefer more chicken less rice. Or add an option for more protein. I also ordered spam musubi and I thought it was okay. I'm definitely craving that Loco Moco again

    Katsu chicken and kaluah pork

Great food, prepared to order. I had the Katsu chicken and Kaluah pork; both were great. The service is always friendly and fast. They also offer catering, if you are in the Cypress area, stop by and try this place. Their casual island atmosphere and great food will keep you coming back.

Recently ordered takeout at the Loft. We had not had this for a while, we used to order very frequently during covid and it was very good. My Niece actually catered her wedding with food from this place a couple of years ago. I was sadly surprised that my last order of KBBQ was one of the worst servings of meat I have ever had. More than half of the so called beef, was comprised of fatty substance not meat (see photo). My wife's side of salad had a bunch of water (see photo). I don't know if there was a change in ownership, but I will not be returning. To make things worse, I placed the order by phone 20 minutes before arriving and still had to wait 15 more minutes for my order.

I've been coming here for years . It's very affordable and has a decent dining area which is something I never see in Hawaiian restaurants. Usually they are fas food type dining areas . I recommend the Island style fried chicken , Korea bbq beef and Mac salad . I also love that their sides are more elevated compared to the ones from ONo and those other places . I've also had them cater My wedding which was a really affordable option. I highly recommend them for that .

    Hair. Dark short and curly
    Veronika O.

As we were enjoying our food I noticed a hair in my food. A facial hair to be exact. It was dark short and curly. Almost looked like a pubic hair. Server was notified.. then asked me if I would like to have it remade or taken off my tab which I responded to him telling him that I would like to enjoy my meal. Food was remade. Everything was fine, upon receiving the bill I notice that I did get charged for the plate... Even though I did get the plate remade. I think it should've been taken off my bill for the inconvenience of having almost put a hair in my mouth. There was no acknowledgment or anything, even an apology. Server didn't even say he'll let the manager know or he'll let the cooks know nothing just took the plate and asked if I wanted it remade. Very disappointed with today's visit.

    Spam musubi

So much food for the money. For $14.50, I got a brick-sized portion of Lau Lau pork and a cup of salmon ceviche (aka Lomi Lomi salmon). For my sides, I ordered the macaroni salad, and a double portion of the ramen salad (a vinegar, cabbage, and top ramen combination that has a nice acidic flavor to offset the pork) to avoid having rice. Had rice for lunch. This place is a great value for the money. Such a generous portion of pork that it made two meals for me. Servers made you feel like family. Only thing I'll say is that the tables, chairs, fixtures, etc. could use an upgrade when they have the money to do so. The dining room is looking a little tired.

    Do they take apple pay?

    Yes they do

Has anyone noticed that the bacon fried rice has tasted different over the last six months?

    Yeah, new cook?

    Do they have poi donuts?

Unfortunately no poi donuts, but they do have a good Hawaiian-style strawberry jello-topped cheesecake for dessert!

On my first visit, I tried the Kalua Pork and…read moreLau Lau and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Lau Lau also contained fish--it was good, just not what I was expecting (my bad not reading the menu properly). This time, I decided to play it safe and go with the Mixed BBQ Plate. For the price, the portion size is quite generous. The plate comes with one scoop of macaroni salad, two scoops of rice, and a solid serving of protein. The mac salad was exactly how I like it: sweet, creamy, and comforting without being overly heavy. The BBQ chicken, beef, and ribs were all tender, flavorful, and well-seasoned. The ribs were especially enjoyable, with just the right amount of char that added a nice smoky flavor. My only real complaint is the bed of raw shredded cabbage that comes with the plate. While I understand it's there to add freshness and balance, I personally would have preferred steamed vegetables or cooked cabbage instead. That said, the food was satisfying, the portions were fair for the price, and the BBQ meats were executed well. It's a solid meal overall and definitely something I'd order again when I'm craving Hawaiian BBQ.

Ambiance/Environment: They have a small space with limited indoor seating and no outdoor seating. It's very casual. The tables and chairs are decently kept clean. Service: The only interaction I had was with the cashier at the register. She was simply quick & efficient. Throughput was also quick after ordering. Food: My aunt and I ordered the Chicken Katsu Bowl and spam musubi. The chicken katsu was seasoned well, but I'd prefer it to be a bit more crispy. It might've softened from the steam while being inside the bowls. The sauce made the chicken katsu even tastier. The bowls came with rice. If I'm not mistaken, I thought the bowls came with vegetables and other sides, but it wasn't until after I realized we didn't receive any. The spam musubi were delicious, but the amount of rice was excessive. Pricing: Overall, we enjoyed our lunch. For the portion sizes, the prices are somewhat worth it.

I went with the fish katsu curry, hubby got the chicken katsu curry. Nice crunch outside, both protein types cooked appropriately. I preferred the fish, the texture was slightly softer/flaky as expected for fish. There's a little extra charge for spice levels. Good flavor curry, I wish there was a little more curry sauce, I do like to slather my rice :D lol! The mac salad and pickled veggies also good. Comparable price point to other curry places with the serving size. It's solid enough for me to return :) I also liked the egg salad sandwich, bread is nice and soft, egg salad is not drenched w mayo, very good egg ratio, I tasted a small hint of lemon, nice little snacker. The Korean Gangjung chicken tenders soy garlic had a nice flavor as well, a sweet and salty sticky glaze, chicken was cooked nice, not overly cooked, good chicken to batter coating ratio.

Each order had crispy skin and came with a side of sauce that was sweet and slightly sour. My favorite was definitely the Cebuchon. Such tender, savory meat!
