We had a such a quaint and unexpectedly elevated dining experience in the heart of Genoa at Daniel's. Tucked away off of Main Street you'll find the cute farmhouse looking building and parking lot. Inside you are greeted by the hostess and an impressive small bar before heading to the dining room with old world charm and elegance. Our servers were friendly and well versed in a fine dining experience. The menu offered a bit of everything for all palates. The drink menu impressed with a worthy selection of wines and creative cocktails and mocktails. Our food was plated nicely and most of all everything was absolutely delicious. The crab cake appetizer was a winner as well as the seared ahi special. My husband's steak was cooked to perfection with a sauce that complimented it well. The finale of desserts were well worth the calories. My Basque cheesecake was so good with the strawberry compote served on top. The biggest winner at the table was the banana bread pudding. This is definitely a place I would go back to on a special occasion or just to treat myself. ;)

The service, the food and the ambiance are all a TEN! Had a wonderful night out... espresso martini at the Icehouse before our dinner reservation at the main restaurant. Crab cakes were amazing, halibut was to die for, filet was cooked to perfection and the chocolate desert was decadent... all paired with a great bottle of wine.

Started with a black old fashioned at the Ice House lounge while we waited for our table at Daniels. Pleasant staff , friendly, knowledgeable and yummy cocktails. First in the door come early they spend more time with you explaining specials and the menu. We had crab cakes, shrimp bisque, a perfect halibut and chocolate pastry sampler. Friendly staff, good vanter at the table, great pre bus and attention to timing on the courses. $100 a head so be prepared for the check. A nice quiet amazing restaurant in the heart of Genoa a true destination location worth a visit while enjoy the Carson Basin

Duck breast with foie gras, was excellent!!!

Happen to be in the area and came here for dinner with my husband. Everything was top notch! The service, the food, the setting. We started with the foie gras and the goat cheese salad. The foie gras was excellent, definitely recommend. It was so good I got it twice because I also ordered the duck breast and it comes topped with foie gras and I was not sad about this whatsoever! Especially bc the apples and sauce they paired it with were just delicious. It just melted like butter!! My husband got the elk steak and it was perfectly cooked. The meat was so tender. Both dishes were a hit! I wished we didn't live an hour away or we would frequent this restaurant more often! We also had some drinks in their ice house building while waiting for our table and it is the cutest little bar! It's located right next to the main restaurant.

So, when my wife and I need fondue, we NEED fondue. There is no stopping us. Or, sometimes, we don't THINK we need it, but then read it on a menu, and THEN we want it. However, it occurs, it is an unstoppable force. While staying at a resort down the road during our trip to the South Tahoe area, we were hungry, checked out the bar menu at Daniel's (separate menu), saw the fondue, and then suddenly needed fondue...now. And, Daniel's delivered with our experience there. There are only a few bar seats, so we called ahead to ask about availability of those seats. "Be there in five minutes." Melissa at the host stand helped us out with the seats, so that was great. Mike was our bartender, and we excelled in efficiency and personality during our meal. Great, great service, I must say. Wife got a martini with her favorite, blue cheese olives. She also got this drink called the Cloud Cover. It was unique, had some egg in it, and you should go to hear the story of how Mike sort of made up the fantastic drink. So many drinks have been made in the world, and every once in a while, it is refreshing to get one that bends the rules. This drink did. They carried a really good IPA from Oregon that I liked, so I had that. We had lobster bisque to kick off the meal, and it was AMAZING. Next, the fondue came, and it was glorious also. Well worth the drive down there alone. For dessert, we got the Symphonie Chocolatee, and it was a drop mic end to our shared meal. Well named, as the high end chocolate bites were playing some awesome tunes in my mouth. Seriously, if I happened to have been carrying a microphone, I would have dropped it from my bar seat. We admittedly did not have the most healthy shared dinner, but we were on vacation! The atmosphere is classy and a great date place. They also have the ice patio, which was closed the night we were there, but looked like a cool outdoor area to eat in. I didn't snag a picture of the dining room area because I didn't want to weird out the fine diners there. Plus, once you are done your fancy meal, you can go to the extremely fun place across the street, which you will...trust me. I highly recommend this place, and see you there (the next time we are in Nevada)...

Staff were very attentive and helpful. Drinks were served promptly. We chose bacon wrapped dates to start (delicious) . Husband chose seafood appetizer and I chose the French onion soup. Both very good but my soup was barely warm which was disappointing. Husband chose filet steak as main course and I had the scallops. Tried his steak and it was excellent. My scallops were tasty but they were placed on some mashed potato that was the consistency of soup as it had mixed with the liquid from the cooked tomatoes giving it a very unpleasant taste and presentation. Again, the meal was barely warm although the plate was red hot (!). We decided against desert finishing the meal instead with coffee. Sad to say, again, the coffee was barely warm and I needed to drink it right away before it cooled even more. The ambiance and service were good and you may wonder why I didn't address the barely warm food and watery mashed potato with the waiter......the restaurant became very busy and is obviously very popular. I didn't want to disrupt the other diners with constant complaints - it has a very intimate vibe and tables are relatively close. Wimpish reason I know but why disturb other diners experience. I would be tempted to maybe give it a second chance but have to say that overall it was not a memorable evening.

A few mushrooms were sat into this lovely mix. Dredged bread, slice of foie and lentils topped with a slice of mushroom. YUM Washed down with an extraordinary Grand Cru...oof! The duck was perfect with an amazing crust that really elevated the dish. The olives, dates were tasty morsels! Halibut looked wonderful and my seat mate enjoyed it very much. The place was packed and seemingly full of happy dining guests. Look forward to next time. Bravo!

The chef used a small ramekin for serving and added a thin layer of strawberry jam (obviously NOT commercial) to cut the intense flavor of the poultry. What a brilliant combination-pretty, too! The other standout was the raviolis du dauphine. I normally steer clear of truffles (unless I know the establishment) because of the overuse of truffle oil which I find cloying. Not here. This was the real thing AND it was done with restraint. We all loved it. Maybe my favorite of all was the way the chicken breast ( poulet roti) was prepared. I'm sure it didn't hurt to begin with a well sourced bird, but it was moist, tender and flavorful. Simple is sometimes best, especially when it follows more complex dishes. The waitstaff couldn't have been nicer and more professional. They were obviously proud of the food and happily shared with us some backstories of the local farms and animal producers they use. Tabitha worked our tables and was helped by another lovely young woman whose name I didn't get. Both represented the restaurant well. It was an unforgettable evening.

Service was great, nice clean interior. Food was very good. Here're are what we ordered: Deviled eggs with caviar: 4/5 pretty good, just a bit too salty. Onion soup: 5/5, I'd say this is the best onion soup I've had in the US. Beef tartare: 5/5 the marinade was citrisy, bright, complements the beef very well. Escargot: 3/5, they are a bit earthy, maybe its the type of snails they use, not the best. I have yet to find a place for escargot in the US, the best ones I've had was still in Paris. Rabbit pasta: 5/5 so good! You can taste the freshness of their home-made pasta, and the rabbit meat has a mild flavor. Steamed clams: 4/5 overall, a solid dish, but I had a few with sand in it. Took 1 star off. Rainbow trout: 4/5 a nice piece of fish, cooked well, but not as flavorful. Cassoulet: 4/5 a hearty dish with duck legs and sausages, beans. It was ok, not my fav.

We started with the sage and cheddar biscuits, which were wonderful, and the glazed pork belly with chili crunch with toasted cashews - the combo of the nuts and pork was really delicious. We then had the Niman Ranch pork chop and grilled steak frites. Pork chop came with creamy polenta, mushrooms, and a blueberry glaze - I'm hungry just writing about all this. The chop was grilled to perfection - moist (no pink meat) and nicely charred for the flavor. The glaze is a hint of sweetness and the creamy polenta is a winner. The mushrooms are an excellent compliment. The grilled steak was also cooked to perfection - medium rare. The flat iron steak is such a great cut of meat. The fries in duck fat were very good. The bill before tip was $350 and I was not mad at all about that because it was worth it. The Comanche Creek Spring Pea Salad was amazing. Even my "I don't like peas, but get it if you want" dining partner gobbled it up with a smile. The fried quail was good and larger than expected. The real star was the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio! Something I may have passed on because I've eaten it at so many places, but so glad I didn't because it set the bar as the best I have ever had and I wish I could have it again and again. The Elk Chop was delicious and perfectly cooked. There was an $8 split charge for that, but we could not have fit an additional main in our belly, so half a main each was the perfect serving size. It left just enough room to order a lovely dessert, the Chocolate Pistachio Royal. All in all a great meal. The only thing that could have made it better would be a more relaxed pace. I felt like moments after we ordered, way before our cocktails arrived, all 3 starters were placed in front of us. Drinks first, and then maybe one starter at a time would have felt less rushed. Then the moment our plates were cleared our dinner was there. A minute or two for a breath would be nice. I know too fast is way better than too slow so not really complaining. But the view was beautiful and the amiance was so special I would have liked a slower pace to take it all in.

The people serving us and working in the main dining room were so nice, it made up for the first hostess experience. We started w the tuna crudo and the shrimp tostada. If you can only get one thing, go for the tostada. For entrees we got the local trout and elk. My boyfriend liked the trout more and I liked the elk more.
