I had to have service on my rental property's gas fireplace. At first they told me I would need to wait a week. But the next day they called and said they had a cancellation and could get me in right away. The tech was professional and worked quickly. Unfortunately I had a broken pilot assembly so this cost me more than I was hoping it would, but the job was done well and Chris cleaned up the glass and checked to make sure there was no carbon monoxide leak after he was finished. We have used a few times and two out of there times they have been fine. The workers have been on time and polite. The reason for the two stars is that the last time he forgot to remove the damper. I would not recommend Daniels nor will I ever use them again. My daughter just moved into her own home, and her experience was a nightmare. It took two trips to get her ac working properly. The poor quality of service performed on the first service call of $400 caused the second service call of another $488. Exposes wires were left & the fan got caught on the exposed wires which burned out the motor. The ac was never working properly (loud noise squealing & banging). We called to get someone to return. My daughter is starting her first teaching job & is in training & does not get off until 4:30. She was told by Michelle that she would be charged after hours fees. Unfortunately, they could not get back until Friday. The ac motor burned out Wednesday. Communication is poor. We had someone calling both of us, texting me. The only way I could get someone to return my call was by sending message on their website. I asked to speak to Daniel and I am still waiting for a call from him. Apparently Michelle is part owner, yet her unsympathetic attitude & less the unsympathetic messages again reflect the poor service we received. The bottom line, poor customer service & poor service provided on the initial serice call was not thorough. They took no responsibility in the damage caused by leaving exposed wires. Own your mistake! This was a typical situation where we were taken advantage of. Nothing was done to make this bad experience any better. I will also report this to better business bureau. I would much rather be posting a good review. The fact that I cannot even get a call back from Daniel total reflects the horrible service we received after spending $900. We have worked with Daniels Plumbing and Heating for about 4 years. We scheduled a maintenance and installation visit a year ago to install a hard start, coil flush (both their recommendation) and seasonal maintenance. Last year, the technician quoted both extra service items to be around 200.00. We double checked with customer service before this visit and made it clear that our retirement income/budget was limited and if we had to drop one of the services, we would schedule it next time. We stated our budget was $300-350.00 tops. When the technician came, we asked him to verify the costs before he started any work. Thank goodness we did! He quoted us $650.00 plus tax! We asked him to explain the work and increased prices. He explained but admitted he could not do maintenance today because it was too cold outside but he needed us to buy the service agreement today anyway. The agreement was priced at 383.00, the additional services they quoted us was now: hard start kit 150.00, coil flush 116.00. $383.00 was out of line. We lived in Dallas, and a yearly maintenance was 200.00. We explained we couldn't afford them. We won't be doing business with Daniel's especially if they can't be upfront before trying to hand us a 650.00+ bill. read more

$69 trip charge which I was expecting to look at my fireplace (it wouldn't light) but then they charged me another 75 to 'light the pilot'. The only thing wrong with it was the damper wasn't all the way open. So I ended up paying 2x as much for 15 mins of "work" and no parts. They should say upfront that the trip charge is 156 (with tax). I'd give 1 star but they did make the fireplace work. read more

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! PLEASE AVOID THEM SO YOU DON'T GET RIPPED OFF AND VERY FRUSTRATED. On the phone they told me $95 per hour and should be less than 2 hours. The service technician tried to charge me $450 for labor to replace a faulty gas valve for my furnace. They tried to charge me an hour of labor ($95) to go pick up the replacement gas valve. They did not honor the $25 coupon. The faulty gas valve was under warranty if THEY replaced the gas valve. After several frustrating conversations, finally agreed to pay 1 hour of labor at $95 plus a trip charge of $49. They should have covered the labor since they installed the faulty valve. Are there any honest and trustworthy companies out there??? read more

Recently used them to remove a swamp cooler and install refrigerated air. Before I went with them I looked them up on BBB, and found they were highly rated with no formal complaints. They were professional, punctual, and my sales guy was always responsive. I ended up paying slightly more than I wanted to, but they covered disassembly and removal of my swamp cooler, and cleaned the air ducts throughout the house for free, which needed to be done after years of swamp cooler abuse. I'd use them again if I needed to. read more

All were courteous, responsive, knowledgeable and hard-working (including staying until 8:30 pm to get the job done). They followed up after the job was finished (and paid for) to make sure I was happy and did some final touch-ups. If I could rate this company zero stars, I would. We scheduled the appointment to finish the install of a ductless AC a week ago. It was explained to the service dept. that all we needed was the copper hooked up and the lines flushed and leak checked. The person on the phone advised that they could do it but that they couldn't guarantee the work because they didn't do the installation. (ok fine, but what do you do when you service a preexisting swamp cooler/AC/whatever) We agreed to that. They booked us for a two hour window at $95 an hour. The guy was 45 minutes late. I gave him the copper and he came back to say that he needed to get a part. The next thing I know, I'm speaking to a rep at the company that advised me that they would have to charge us $1695.00 to complete the work. WHAT? The job would literally not take more than an hour, the only reason we cannot do it ourselves is a lack of tools. The person on the phone told me that they were just going to 'wash their hands of this" without giving me a valid reason as to why they would charge that much to finish a simple fix. Then she started telling me that they never agreed to do it as described and that we only scheduled a diagnostic at $65.00 which they were graciously not going to charge. My boyfriend spoke to the technician after he looked at the job and they both agreed it would be about an hours worth of work. I am not sure what the issue was. The tech was perfectly nice. He said "no problem". Then we were told it would cost more that the actual unit to fix after we did all of the work. Totally inappropriate. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Daniel's did an A/C conversion for us by replacing an old furnace and old hardly working swamp cooler. The installers did a very good job with everything done professionally. I would rate the installation: 4.5/5 Unfortunately though, the company as a whole is pretty disorganized. Throughout the process, I was called by a Daniel's associate asking if I wanted my yearly Swamp Cooler Service (after I had approved the A/C install and had already had my yearly Swamp Cooler service performed...did this before we decided on converting). I was called by different associates to confirm appointments after they had already been confirmed. I also requested an invoice showing the amount paid for the PNM rebate and had to call them 3 times reminding them I still needed it. I would rate their customer service: 3.5/5 I went with Daniel's as I knew they would do a good install, and they had a good price, but with their level of disorganization it didn't make for the most stress free process. When someone is spending this much money with you (basically the price of a new car), it would be thought it would be a slightly smoother process. Therefore, overall I would rate Daniel's a 4/5. read more

Our AC unit's motor died Saturday evening. We decided to call Daniel's since they are open 24 hours and had decent reviews. However since it was after business hours, the fee just to have them come out would've been $300 so we ended up having them come out the next day during normal business hours. They gave us a time frame of 1-5pm but our tech Carlos didn't show up till closer to 5pm but he did call us in advance and let us know he was running behind which we appreciated. After Carlos did the diagnosis and drafted the work order/invoice he let us know that the office would call us the next day (they were already closed when he finished up) to get us scheduled. The next day (Tues) we ended up calling the office first so we could get scheduled asap. They let us know they wouldn't be able to get us in until the next Thursday which we were not happy with since the inside of the house was reaching 90 degrees easily. We pushed back and they were able to get us in on the same week (Fri). We were relieved we didn't have to wait an additional 9 days to get our AC back in working order. Carlos was easy to work with. I had my gas fireplace serviced today and I want to commend Patrick for his outstanding professionalism and meticulous attention to detail. He spent hours cleaning every part of my fireplace, even going as far as to use a precision tool to clean every single heat emission hole. He cleaned every nook and cranny, including removal of the glass on all sides of the fireplace and thoroughly cleaned them. He arrived earlier than my scheduled service, which enabled him to get an early start, which I really appreciated. He pointed out potential problem areas that I will address at a later date. Before he reassembled my fireplace, he vacuumed every piece and cleaned up the floor around the fireplace. My fireplace looks brand new and is functioning better than when we first purchased our home. Patrick is an outstanding service technician and I will definitely request him by name in the future. Update 10/27/17: As a result of this review, Daniel did finally contact me and agreed to address my problem for no charge. He and Michael came to my home on 10/23/17 to survey the situation. They both agreed that the duct tape under the sealant was a sufficient repair, but could not answer why the tech that put the sealant on said he removed the duct tape, when in fact he hadn't. Michael removed the sealant and duct tape and resealed the area. Both Daniel and Michael returned today to ensure the new repairs kept the water out while I sprayed the roof with a hose. Both repairs were done well this time, so my issue is resolved. I am upgrading my review of Daniel's Heating and Cooling to 4 stars. I very much appreciate him resolving my issue, but in my opinion, it should not have been this difficult. Had Daniel told Chris to just reseal the leaks when he came out the first time, all of this could have been avoided and I would have happily given a 5-star rating. I did not want to have to write this critique, but Daniel left me no choice. In June of 2016, Daniel's Heating and Cooling (DHC) replaced my roof-top swamp cooler with a new Master Cool unit. The work was done consistent with his Angie's List reviews: prompt reply, fair price, timely installation. The unit worked fine this summer and last, but last month, my wife noticed some staining and buckling in our bedroom ceiling, below where the swamp cooler sits. My investigation revealed nothing, so I call DHC, and thus began the run-around. First, the woman who answered the phone tried to blame me for not buying a service contract. When I told her it had nothing to do with the functionality of the unit, she then said it was beyond the one year installation warranty so I'd have to pay. While it's true that I noticed the problem 3 months beyond the warranty expiration, the leaking I would learn was due to poor installation and only occurred when it rains. This year was a particularly dry monsoon along the foothills, so the rain and the warranty period didn't coordinate well. Still, I agreed to the service charge in hopes of resolving the leak. Chris, from DHC, came to investigate. He was diligent and courteous, and after several trips in my attic and with me on the roof with a garden hose, he found two leaks that were installation related. Based on the rusting damage inside the "takeoff" (which connects the cooler to the duct work), he assessed it had been leaking for some time. However, after a long phone call, he informed me repairs would not be covered because the warranty had expired. He left that day with my issue unresolved and rain in the forecast for the next two days. I got out my trusty duct tape and got to work putting on a temporary patch so more water wouldn't further damage my ceiling. After a few more very frustrating phone calls, I was told that Daniel had finally (and I suspect, reluctantly) agreed to send someone out to reseal around the base of the cooler and the electrical wiring, at no charge. I informed the caller of my patch work and asked her to make sure the workers removed the duct tape. Once I got home, I checked their repairs. The seal around the cooler was expanded and fresh, but they put the sealant around the electrical wires directly over the duct tape, leaving a questionable repair. When I called back to ask someone to come out to look at the situation and to confirm the other repair was adequate, I got the run-around again. I finally asked to speak directly with Daniel, who in my mind should have been more concerned about customer satisfaction and spoken with me prior. Three days now I have called DHC asking for Daniel to contact me with no reply from Daniel. My conclusion is that DHC is quick to sell products and perform new work, but after they are done you are left on your own. All my issues are clearly due to poor installation, but Daniel apparently does not stand behind his work. Instead, he hides behind his warranty. This is unfortunate, given his good reputation. If you hire him, make sure you check the installation carefully and often in the first year, and pray for rain. After that first year, good luck getting them to stand behind their work, or even calling you back. read more

The tech forgot to reinstall a shelf that he took down to get to side of cold air return, but it was easily reinstalled after he left. I have used Daniels twice. In Feb. they came out and installed a pressure switch in my furnace. $249 for the part and $69 labor. In Nov. the same error code appears and this time the tech comes out, charges me $168 saturday call plus $95 for an hour spent just giving me a high pressure sales pitch for a new $2,000 furnace. my furnace is 12 years old, the inducer, blower, heat exchanger, are all fine. After doing some research, I cleaned the burners and flame sensor, and it now works great! Watch out for these predators! read more

I had an appointment on Monday, July 10, 2017 and the person scheduled to come out for the estimate had an emergency (which I understand) and the appointment was rescheduled for Tuesday the 11th. I made sure to have someone at my house as I work Tuesday thru Thursday till 6:15. I called to find out how the meeting went and he never showed up. I called the office and the dispatcher said she had scheduled it for Wednesday not Tuesday. I would not have scheduled someone to be at my house on Tuesday if the appointment was set for Wednesday. She told me due to the confusion she would work around my schedule and have someone out Wednesday at 6:30 when I would be home from work. She also said she would call Wednesday morning around 8 am to confirm. She never called. When I checked my messages this morning there was a voice message reminding me about my appointment today between 4-6. There was NEVER an appointment made considering the fact that I work till 6:15. I called this morning, canceled the appointment and let her know I would not be considering them. read more

I have used Daniels for the past 2 years and I love their work. I had tried another vendor last year and they tried to con me out of a lot of money for some "magic fluid" that would fix my hot A/C. I called Daniels last year and the person told me the truth about what was wrong with my A/C (low refrigerant, possible leak). He quoted me prices to do leak repairs and left without pressuring me to sign up for the repairs. I opted to not do the leak repairs and see how the A/C behaved. Well, this year -- my A/C was hot again (would only 'cool' to 78 deg and run for hours). Chris from Daniels came by early on the appointment day and did a thorough job of looking at the inside and outside units (my evaporative coils are in the crawl space in the hottest place in the house -- the attic area). He refilled the refrigerant and gave me a quote for doing the leak repair. The price was in-line with last year's and I will definitely have this leak repaired. Chris was very polite and answered all of my questions and there was no pressure to sign up for more work or repairs. read more
