My Cajun family loves this restaurant. It's a homey little hole-in-the-wall place run by a mom and her daughter. They've got all of the Louisiana and NOLA classics, and our favorite is the crab cakes and the crawfish éttouffée. And the crawfish breaaaad is delicious!!! Because it's a small family business, they are only open on Thursday - Saturday. Plan ahead for a chill, slow dinner because there's only one waiter in this cozy little spot. BUT she is the BEST. Go support this local gem!!

Food is BEYOND AMAZING but the service is painfully slow. Saw 2 tables walkout in our time there. If you go, just come knowing you're gonna spend a lot of the time waiting, but the wait will be sooooooooo worth it!!

Crazy slow service. Only 9 people in the restaurant and took over 45 mins to get an updated on the food was still want ready. I did find it interesting that margaritas were timely delivered to the kitchen. After total of 55 mins the food arrived. The shrimp etouffee was good and warm. So final thought. food was good. The service absolutely sucks.

Food was great. Be prepared to wait as it is being cooked extremely fresh. Service was top notch and the ambiance couldn't have been better. It's just a little hole in the wall Louisiana type place but man is it good. I suggest the Boudin Balls and the Gumbo and the catfish for sure. My wife and I were very surprised how good it really was.

Service - Painfully slow Food - Nothing authentic and below average quality Value - Overpriced for the quality of food Atmosphere - Could probably use a good spring cleaning Hubby and I decided to stop here for lunch during a trip to Sherman because of the high Yelp! reviews, but do not be fooled! As south Louisianians, we love to support local and enjoy some Louisiana home cooking, but boy were we wrong to pick this place. This restaurant is located in an old shopping strip with NO signage except for painted windows. We arrived about 1:45p, well after the lunch crowd. All 6 tables were full, but it appears people were just sitting at empty tables. No sign of an employee. Hubby turns on his timer because we see two tables walk out within minutes of our arrival. We grab one of the tables that walked out. At the 0:30 mark, we were acknowledged by an employee. I say we need menus, but instead of the server bringing us menus, a local patron gets up to bring us the menus. At the :40 the server finally takes our order. Despite "Lunch Specials" being on the menu from 11:30-3:00, the server told us lunch specials (around $15) were not available. Instead, I choose the Deep Dirty South dinner ($28) and Hubby the Shrimp Po-boy with fries ($18). At the 1:00 mark, 3 more tables have arrived and walked out. That makes a total of 5 tables walking out within one hour because they were never given service. We observed the local patron ordering boiled crawfish, but the server told two other tables that crawfish is not available. The server chats with the locals rather than getting drinks and taking orders from the rest of us. At the 1:15 mark, my Deep Dirty South dinner arrives. It is supposed to be crawfish étouffée topped with a crab cake and piece of fried catfish. The fried catfish was 1/3 piece of filet, coated in a beer batter (not cornmeal), soggy, and muddy tasting. The crab cake was from frozen pre-made and not freshly made. The étouffée was in a weird overly sweet red cream sauce on top of a incredibly salty plate of dirty rice. Look at my picture that shows the weird étouffée sauce consistency. Each component was bad, but put together, it was a terrible blob of food for $28.00. I pick out the seafood and ate the bread, as to not waste an expensive plate. At 1:30 mark, Hubby's $18.00 Shrimp Po-Boy and fries arrives. The po-boy bread was not on an authentic crusty French bread, but a sandwich roll. Since Hubby was starving, he devours it. The server never brings us the ticket, but instead a sheet of register paper asking for 18%, 20% or 25% tip with a drawn signature line. The meal without drinks was $49.50. We kindly opted to leave a cash tip on the table that was a different amount than asked. This may be considered "authentic" for Sherman, but not within my Louisiana hometown parish lines.

Let me start by saying I am not from NOLA but I love me some Cajun food!! If you are looking for Popeyes or even Razoos just keep going. This is genuine homemade Cajun food. My husband and I stopped on the way back to Dallas from Durant. I wanted something locally owned and unique. Well Dani's hit it out of the park! We loved everything we ordered. For starters we had the boudin balls. They are huge and come with a special sauce. My husband got jambalaya with chicken and sausage and I got the Deep Dirty South. OH MY Goodness. Mine was ahhmazzzing!! The crawfish etouffee has this delicious creamy sauce that is just out of this world. We added red beans and rice and Mac and cheese so we could try them. Red beans and rice were fabulous. Just the right kick. The mac and cheese was tasty-baked with cheese but not super saucy. We didn't eat a lot of the Mac and cheese because everything else was over the top. Servings are very plentiful. We should have shared one plate. But then we couldn't have tried each others dishes. We are ordering the bread pudding and beignets. Have already packed up more than half of our food to go but you know we have to at least try the desserts!! The ambiance is quaint. Fun music playing in the background to add to the NOLA feeling.

Why did it take us so long to find out about this place? Cajun boudin balls are delicious! Salmon was well seasoned and dirty rice so yummy. I love that it's a family owned restaurant, too. I can't wait to go back and try some other delicious looking items on the menu. read more

Food is actually really good but don't expect big portions. Service is incredibly slow and very awkward. DO NOT get a hurricane! It's $15 for a half glass of old juice with very little alcohol. This place could be amazing but lacks customer service read more

Came in with my family and we all know it's a roll of the dice when you try a new place out. Be warned they are a small shop that is not set up to just rush people in and out. This is a boutique restaurant with many options of cook to order food. The food had excellent flavor and everyone in our group loved what they ordered. The banana pudding was the best I ever had. Just don't tell my mother as she will sad to know that. read more

Wow. I don't know even where to begin. Worst experience that I can remember. Literally. I love boudin, and so I wanted to try this place. There are 5 tables in restaurant, which is important because I saw two of them pay for their drinks, and get up and leave before their food came out. I was considering doing the same. Two other tables received one of their two entrees, and waited for their second to come out 15 minutes later. I ordered a cup of gumbo ($10??) which came out 45 minutes after I ordered it, and boudin balls (3 for $14??). The boudin balls came out 20 minutes after the gumbo, which means I waited a little over an hour for two items on their "appetizer" menu. I paid $3 for an "unlimted soda" and never once was asked if I needed a refill in the hour and 45 minutes that I was in the place. The gumbo was pretty good. No complaints. I ate one half of a boudin ball and couldn't stomach the extreme saltiness of what essentially was a ball of rice that was battered. Very little sausage in the mix. Stay away. Stay far far away. The atmosphere filled with hungry guests staring at the ceiling, waiting and wondering if they'll ever get their food, was about as appealing as sitting in a Dentist's waiting room. We were really hoping to love this and be a home away from home. Unfortunately that was not the case. Once you get past the hour long wait you would want the food to be amazing and authentic. That was not the case. The food was decent, but not for the price. $20 plus for a basket of two pieces of fried catfish is crazy. The staff was super friendly, thus the two stars. read more

Read the reviews, thought we'd try it out. Highlight of our meal was the Wings - sweet heat. Very good, large, tasty done to perfection. The balance of our meal was an EXTREME disappointment. They were out of Jambalaya and Dirty Rice. The fried crawfish were bits of fried batter, no crawfish! The veggie side on my meal was frozen mixed vegetables. The dinner salad was old rusty lettuce. VERY slow service. The prices on the menu are not current so be prepared to pay more than what is listed. Way overpriced for the quality. read more

Ok, we were back with a few other family members this past September...not sure why I didn't get this update in. I had the Mardi Gras Seafood Pasta and a sweet tea. As well as some Crawfish Chowder. Be warned, the Crawfish Chowder sells out fast..but it's WICKED AWESOME! And I'm a "Chowdah" expert from New England. All of us enjoyed everything put in front of us...and the service was even better than the food. Looking forward to our next visit!! read more

Really disappointed in this restaurant. My husband grew up in Louisiana and his idea of Cajun is not this. It was expensive, the food was not piping hot And it was terrible ambience. The experience was overpriced. I do not recommend this place for Cajun eating. read more

Attention, Attention, Attention!!!! Danni's is the real deal!! I am talking about FOR REAL Louisiana Cajun food! From the starters all the way to the desert the food was great. It was a party of flavors in my mouth and to top it all off the service and the staff was second to none. Also, you get what you pay for and it is worth every penny! Great little place tucked away with original home style Cajun cuisine and plenty of parking but not good for large groups because of seating but carry out is always a good choice as well. I've eaten at some grand places in new Orleans and Danni's can compete with any of them read more

Did a doordash order, food was cold when arrived. Driver came straight from the restaurant. Missing an item, they substituted items that I ordered. Pretty over priced for the amount of food you receive. Food quality is decent. Might be a better experience dining in. read more

Took my daughter here for her birthday dinner. She really liked her Gumbo she got. My son liked his Po-boy and the hushpuppies were really good. Our server was very nice and the restaurant seemed really clean with a nice vibe, it is very small and had and cozy dining feel to it. It was very slow to get our food as in almost an hour. I understand good food takes time but that seems a little excess to me for what we ordered, so when you go make sure that you have time to wait or get Door Dash( I did see the sign for it on the counter). read more

The food at Danni's really good. We had shrimp etouffee and crawfish etouffee, dirty rice, and jambalaya. It was all good and spiced just like in New Orleans. The restaurant was a little loud because of competing television and music. The ambiance was good, but there should not be large center pieces on each table. read more

Everything is made to order here so do not come here expecting to get in and out in under an hour. It is home cooking and they don't start cooking until you order it. It is all well worth the wait though!! I ordered the sampler and enjoyed all of it. Crawfish étouffée, jambalaya (chicken and sausage), and dirty rice (ground beef). They were all served in coffee mugs/cups but it was plenty of food. I was stuffed but I wasn't going to leave a bit! There's a spice to all of them, it is Cajun cooking so if you're wimpy on the spice just let them know. Off the menu is a Catfish Pontchartrain which my mom ordered and it was awesome! Basically a big ole plate of shrimp étouffée but with a pan fried catfish filet in it too. So good! Again, go here and enjoy the home cooking but just don't expect it to happen fast. Enjoy the company you're with!! read more

Wow, I was so impressed with this place. I'm from out of town and was here for business, happened upon Danni's and I'm really glad I tried it. I got the jambalaya and my friend got the crawfish at Ettoufe and boy it came with a good helping! I ate it for a few meals! Everything is from scratch and you can definitely tell. I would also highly recommend the sangria too, I'm very picky when it comes to sangria being too sweet, but it was just right! I'll be back when I come back into town. Only con is that they have limited hours and it's not fast dining, which is just fine with me, but if you're use to getting in and out quickly, this is not the place. read more

The best!!! Mac and cheese is mind blowing, po boys are fresh, crab cakes are melt in your mouth, the gumbo has just enough heat and you can't even get me started on the boudin, it was so good we took a extra order to go. All made to order and out of this world. Price is great for for top notch seafood. Will def be back, probably my new favorite place. read more

Not going to lie my husband and I were a little skeptical when we walked in since it was so casual; but y'all. YALL. The food. Let's just talk about the food!! Some of the best freaking New Orleans style food we have had even over the places we have been in New Orleans. It is some legit Cajun food and my soul is happy. Secondly the staff. So sweet. We felt like we were in grandmas kitchen (only this grandma cooks way better than mine). One of our favorites for date night and we will soooo be back! read more

I ordered the Nola-vs-Sherman Platter, and it was a delightful assortment of fried catfish, shrimp, crawfish, stuffed crab, and crab cakes. Each item was cooked to perfection, bursting with authentic Cajun and Creole flavors. The "Parade" drink complemented the meal wonderfully. While the food was exceptional, I did notice that the service was a bit slow during peak hours. However, the quality of the food made up for the wait.
