My husband wanted poboys, so we stopped at this seafood place. He figured, we pass by several times a week, it was about time we gave it a try. A simple kitchen setup and outdoor seating, it's ideal for takeout meals--lunch or dinner. There were several well-priced daily specials, posted in writing on the glass window. Half a dozen strips of fish, and some of the most delicious, local, New Orleanian style jambalaya and potato salad I've ever had. Our shrimp poboy was delicious. But the totally unexpected standout was the amazing fish plate. If you're a snowball aficionado, you need to try a Danny & Bonnie snowball this summer. The ice was shaved so finely -- and that makes all the difference with a snowball. I saved the best for last: the onion rings. Husband and I tagged on an appetizer of onion rings to the order. The moment our food was ready, we could smell the onion rings. They were perfectly prepared and served with a special dipping sauce. When you first pass this place, you have no idea what to expect, but the reality is that it is really good. I have eaten here twice now and the food is really good. They serve boiled and fried seafood and po boys. The first thing I got here was fried cracklins which were amazing. Sure, it's not health food, but every once in a while I like to go "food slummin'". The second time I went, some friends and I got some crabs and crawfish that were fresh and amazing. It's the perfect thing to pick up when you are getting a group of friends together for a football game or something. I will definitely be back. This is one of the several places I went to check out for seafood this weekend. The people who run this place seemed friendly enough to me. Although the lady I had talked on the phone was friendly she seemed kind of stressed. I guess with all the influx of orders for crawfish for Easter time I imagine that it would be stressful so I guess I understand that one. When I asked her if they would have any crawfish for sale this was her response,"maybe". She informed me that I would have to give her my name and telephone number so that they could call me if they had any. I did but the whole "maybe" factor prompted me to find crawfish elsewhere. I want a "definite" and not just a "possible". I did come here one day for lunch and I had a shrimp PoBoy. I will admit that it was very good. In comes Danny & Bonnie Seafood's cracklin.....They were closed for the month of July and I'm pretty sure my coworker started having withdrawals. The flavors explode in your mouth upon the first bite. When asked for a more specific description, he can only describe it with one word: addictive. I visited this place because everyone was ranting and raving on how wonderful the cracklings are... I'm still waiting on the effects... The lady who took my order had a very curt attitude. Once I paid for my order she closed the window and I didn't know that I was supposed to take my order to the other window.. After I figured it out there was another young man who was waiting for my order so he could cook the cracking (warm them up and make them hard... Nevertheless he was very friendly... We had a small conversation and he even told me that they had the best cracklings in Louisana... whoa that's a stretch! After he finished frying them he put them in a draining station where he sprinkled seasoning and some liquid stuff on them. Once he was done he put them in a brown paper bag and I was on my way... Well the first thing I noticed was the smell.. The liquid concoction had a vinegary aroma which was a complete turn off... Once I got pass the smell I tried one and it was SALTY! They taste just okay... They are not the best in Louisiana as a matter of fact they are not in the top! The people that buy crackling from there just done know of any other places with the exception on Don's Speciality Meats, Billy's and Best Stop! But try some other places like Jerry Lee's in Baton Rouge! I guarantee you will have something different to say! But the crackling was simply just okay. read more

Just spent $9.00 for a pound of boiled shrimp. Found it expensive but I love boiled shrimp so I figured i'd treat myself. Nope. Got 16 shrimp, counted. Out of the 16, seven were somewhat edible. The others were hard to peel, smashed, nasty. Actually spit at least four of them out. Definitely not worth it. Will not be returning. Will tell all my neighbors. Yuck. read more

Haven't tried their other food, but going off previous reviews of Danny and Bonnie having the best cracklins, that's far from the truth. It wasn't crispy, seasoning was just ok, they put a lemon juice or something on it which is unusual and the skin was so chewy and hard to eat. You can get better cracklins in the grocery store. There are a couple seafood store that sell cracklins in ziploc bags which are better. As far as the seafood etc, I have no comment, so it may very well be good, but if you are looking for cracklins, pass this place up. read more

Cracklins are delicious. Make sure you tell them not to cook them too hard. Most of the time they cook them right but sometimes they cook them too hard. Their Shrimp PoBoy is very good. I also get their Crab Balls quite often. If you get the crab balls make sure you remind them to put in the remoulade sauce that comes with it. That sauce really sets it off. read more

I have gotten fresh shrimp, live crawfish, cracklins, and other miscellaneous items here, and her been very satisfied. Shrimp were large, and were a fair price. The different occasions I bought sacks of crawfish, there were minimal dead ones. The crackling are some of the best I have ever had! I believe they have boiled seafoood as well, but never really paid attention. While waiting for one of my orders, I noticed a sign stating "crawfish egg rolls." Well, I just had to try it. Cracklin is hot and fried to order-I guess. They add hot sauce which I dont mind but... Ive been here a few times for their cracklin and it seems to be hit or miss. At my last visit the meat of the cracklin was very dry and hard and the skin was hard and chewy. I ended up throwing them out and was not a happy camper about wasting nearly $8 for a 1/2 lb. Not sure if maybe they were refried or what but they were prepared very quickly. The previous time I went it was a little bit of a wait and I was the only person there both times. This place is locally known for the boiled seafood and po-boys as well as their cracklins. I have, like most people passed it by several times a day going to and fro. I have stopped to pick up a po-boy on several occasions sticking with the usual seafood sandwich and fries.The food is always made fresh and hot. Maybe other people don't notice but what pleasantly surprises me every time is here you are getting (sit down at a table) restaurant quality and food preparation at a roadside seafood store. I don't know who he is but the fellow at the grill is a well trained and very talented individual. I've been to expensive restaurants that would second to his detail in food prep and quality of plating even though its in a styro- take out plate. I recently ordered a grilled chicken salad to stick with my current diet trend and was pleasantly rewarded with a perfect salad. There were none of those huge chunks of iceberg lettuce and giant unripe tomato wedges you find in the so called salads at other places. The grilled chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked.
