I'd be embarrassed to say how many times a month I order pick up from Danny's, but their menu is so diverse and family/staff so engaging that they totally wipe out any guilt or shame I feel for eating 1,426 empanadas a lunar cycle. I added a picture of one of said empanadas, it is absolutely glorious. Oh, and the fried chicken?! Dope. Excellent joint! I'm a former Trenton resident and return frequently. It was very good before changing hands recently; it is even better now. My favorite is their sausage pizza. Substantial pasta dishes - hot and homemade -include a very respectable salad with lettuce, onion, tomato, black olives and choice of dressing; also, bread and butter. We ate in lunch two days in a row; constant flow of students, families, cops, prison guards, blue and white collar workers. Brisk take-out; happy, chatty diners. Very good bang for your buck. First, whoever I spoke to on the phone was super kind and helpful when placing my order. Secondly, the wings are delicious, and I'm picky about my wings. Their plain pie was good, and the Italian sausage tomato pie was good, albeit a little crispier than our liking. For the record, they asked if we wanted it crispy on the phone, and I said yes so we could try it. Next time I'll ask for it to be regular. Came here thanks to the reviews and found a great thin sliced pizza! I know some people really like the dough, and some people like it so thin it's crispy...well this is more on the thin side but not crispy and not too much crust. I like it because it's distinct and makes you remember the slice of pizza. Sadly sauce was just ok, maybe because it was later in the day after a snowstorm so the pizza had been sitting awhile? Well what they did not have in "umpf" they had in customer service. The young lady behind the counter was very friendly and informed me of specials when she noticed I was trying to be cheap and split a soda with my beau. I also love that she was learning to speak Spanish to communicate with the kitchen employees, and that's always endearing to see. So after a few thin slices, I decided I still needed some dough and ordered some zeppoles! They were very good since they were nice and hot and were topped not just with powdered sugar but cinnamon too. I absolutely loved them, even though they were donut shaped, I appreciated that even the zeppoles had their own twist here. Needless to say I will be returning, they have great Sunday football specials and some specialty pies I would love to try. read more

My friend and I went to looking for a great cheesesteak sandwich. Boy they didn't disappoint. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and it was more than I expected! It came with seasoned fries. This pie is unique, and stands on its own; crispy thin crust, sharp cheese on the bottom, tangy crushed tomatoes on top. Comparisons with New Haven apizza would be misguided and wrong headed. Pizza was good and the employees were friendly. It would have been nice to be offered plates when dinning with three little children. They offered us house bread and oil, it was delicious. There was hardly anyone there when we came in. There is no where to sit for groups. Each table only accommodates four, so our family of five was awkwardly sitting around a table. There were three people in the restaurant when we came in, but they left shortly after we ordered. The employees were cooking a lot of pizzas, so they must have had some going out for delivery. Best pizza in Ewing and I've tried them all! I'm a Ewing transplant and have never found a pizzeria that has great pizza. Red Star is the best of the worst, but they will always burn their pies. Danny's is crispy and tasty. Their dough can handle the high heat of the ovens. Their seating area is open and clean and even if it is packed you wouldn't be right on top of everyone. Truly one of the better Trenton style tomato pies. Great service and very reasonable prices. I live about 20 miles from Danny's, but they are certainly worth the trip. They give all the well established Trenton-style Tomato Pie places a run for their money while not trying to mimic them (i.e. Delorenzo's, Papa's, Palermo's, etc). Inside is nothing fancy, but clean and well maintained. The pies are definitely the highlight, which is what I look for. The chopped antipasto was pretty good and was enough for the four of us as an appetizer. My son had the Mac and cheese and loved it. I tried it and thought it was really good (stove top made, not baked). Very creamy and a nice balance of cheese and butter. If you like tomato pies and are in the Ewing area give it a try. read more

Um, no. Drive a mile up the road to Palermo's for a much, much better tomato pie. Staff at Danny's was great, the bread and olive oil for dipping we got before the pie arrived was good, the tomato pie looked awesome but...it was tasteless. Perhaps amping up the salt in the crust might help but the cheese also didn't have much flavor. Tomatoes were sweet though not as sweet as Palermo's. It was worth a try, but since we live an hour away, it was a disappointment realizing we'd come all that way and wouldn't be enjoying a great tomato pie that day. Also, I thought I saw a banner in the window that said large tomato pies were $10, but we were charged more. This place's tomato pie pizza is off the rocker (absolutely amazing), and this is one of two pizza places I'd actually be willing to go to myself (I'm not a huge pizza fan). The owner, Danny, is nice and amiable to interact with. He'll be welcoming and help you out if you needed something. Look out for the daily deals as well; they're well worth it. Other than that, the only reason why I gave this place four stars instead of five is because the delivery is terrible. I had ordered from a local campus in the area to a specific area. The delivery woman that day called me and yelled at me over the phone to meet her where she was and told me that she couldn't find where I was because the campus was too big. First of all, I honestly believed she shouldn't be yelling on the phone to a paying customer to meet her just because she's lost, and also I believed she should have been properly trained to talk to a customer well over the phone and know her way around one of the only campuses around the area (a huge influx of customers would be college students anyway). The pizza was good, not the best I've ever had but can't complain and same with the wings but THEY FORGOT THE RANCH. The Works Small Pie and the Buffalo Chicken Rolls are yummy! The small size was perfect for two people (with out leftovers). The crust on the pizza was a little more crunchy than I like but if you're into that you'd love it! Ingredients are very fresh and there's less mozzarella than I'm used to. If you like cheese I'd ask for extra on top! The Buffalo Chicken Rolls were good but I was expecting more. The wonton wrapper was a little tough to eat but the flavor of the buffalo chicken filling was perfect! Not too spicy at all, especially if you use the blue cheese dipping sauce/dressing. My family is staying at a airbnb and saw the good reviews. We ordered Juanita's salad, the meat on it was generous and the ingredients were very fresh. The plain pizza was standard, the kids liked it. Next time we would order the pizza they are known for. 20 hot wings seemed like 25 wings, they were crispy, non breaded and very tasty. They don't skimp on stuff like blue cheese. We also had an Italian Sub, the bread was a little soft and white for my taste but this is a matter of preference. First and last time ever ordering. I called at 12:32 and placed an order for delivery and was told delivery would be 40 minutes. I'm less than 1 mile away from the restaurant. I called at 1:32 to ask where my food was after an hour had passed and the dismissive "manager" who answered said - "Sorry for the wait. We have a lot of deliveries. Your food will be there ANY second" - and rudely hangs up Another THIRTY minutes goes by and I tell the manager to cancel my order to which he tells me the card was already charged. I don't know how good this place thinks their food is but I highly doubt it's worth the two hour wait. I will NEVER spend a dime at Danny's ever and I'll make sure my neighbors don't either. Formerly Ricky's Pizza, Danny's opened last week. Went in, ordered chicken fingers and pizza fries, something any short order cook should get right. Wrong! The quality of the chicken was very poor- pressed chicken with mystery gristle and fat that made Chicken McNuggets look gourmet. Pizza fries were lacking- very little red sauce, and they didn't heat them long enough for the cheese to melt.
