I only didn't give them a 5 because there were some communication difficulties between us to the cashier and the cashier to the cook so one of our pizzas wasn't made. We waited for them to make it and then we weren't sure if we paid for it already or not, and the one guy said we hadn't but the one that rung us up had left. Our receipt was only the cash total amount for some reason and no items were listed. I think this place could really become something if they got the communication fixed. What really crossed the line, though, was when the clerk attempted to give me a used pizza pan that another customer had just returned to put my pizza on. That is completely unsanitary and unacceptable for any establishment serving food. After seeing that, I seriously question the cleanliness and food-handling practices here. Their pizza is typical Trenton style, thin crispy crust, cheese on the bottom with dollops of sauce on top. I've lived in PA since I was 7 but prior we lived near Washington's Crossing on the NJ side an most of our family is from Hamilton. Every time I get a chance to have some Trenton Tomato pie it brings back memories grabbing some with my grandparents off of Klockner Road. During our most recent visit, I ordered the chopped Italian sandwich. I fully understood that it was intended to be a chopped sandwich, as described on the menu. My concern was not the preparation style but the overall value. Served on approximately a 12-inch roll and priced at about $17 with a side of chips, the sandwich seemed surprisingly light on meat and fillings. It also appeared to be missing the peppers I expected and had to request them separately. Overall, it simply did not feel like a $17 sandwich. What troubled me more, however, was what I observed regarding cash handling. During a busy lunch period, what appeared to be the owner removed a substantial amount of cash from the register and counted it in full view of customers. While there is certainly nothing wrong with handling a business's receipts, it struck me as somewhat unprofessional to do so in the middle of a crowded lunch rush. More importantly, after handling the cash, I observed him return to handling glassware without any obvious hand-washing. Because this is a cash-only business, I also observed servers collecting cash, entering transactions into the register, making change, and then returning to food service. I did not observe any hand-washing between those activities.

I can't understand how you can hire people to deal with customers who are this ignorant. Just unreal. The food is good, prices aren't bad, but hopefully you don't deal with the same guy I just did. Straight ignorance. I love that they offer the calamari in both fried and grilled. I was outvoted on the grilled but I have to say that the squid was perfectly cooked. Not chewy or fishy at all. Very tender. The breading was light and not greasy at all. The bacon wrapped shrimp were interesting. The shrimp were huge. They were drenched in BBQ sauce. I thought it was ok but I'm not sure about the flavor combo. We ordered a large plain and a large pepperoni. I thought the plain was delicious. The dough was good and not too much flop. The sauce was a bit sweet, which I like. The only issue is that the cheese and sauce didn't stick to the dough so it slid off while cutting. Overall, I think they did a great job with a large group during weekday lunch.
