This place is by far a top notch deli. Having been to this place numerous times for breakfast on my way to work, you CANNOT go wrong with the Breakfast Wrap. Bacon, has browns, egg, cheese and tomatoes. I get a side of hash browns as well. Super cheap. A staple in Cleveland found on the corner of 16th and St Clair Ave. I believe this is a nostalgic place that should be visited. Great old school photos of all the celebs and important people that have visited. Of course I will always visit again. read more

Found this place thru Yelp as we just finished our visit to the Rock and Roll museum-this is a little out of the way but just a little over 1/2 mile away. We were able to walk there in about 20 minutes. This is a hole in the wall Mom and Pop's place, street parking only. But everyone was so nice and friendly. Place is small but very clean. This is a classic small diner. Their corned beef is their specialty and it shows! Huge sandwich, comes with a generous pickle spear. So good! Their rye bread really compliments the corned beef- very tender and flavorful. My husband got the patty melt and he loved it. Dannys deli is a Cleveland classic. Not only for their delicious, and good proportions but rustic and original ambiance. My go to order of late has been the 'Breakfast wrap' and my god has breakfast changed for me. Every place ive went to since Dannys deli has been subpar. I am actively considering burning every other breakfast restaurant to the ground. 6/5 stars! read more

if their corned beef was as nice as the service.I realize different strokes for different folks ,especially when it comes to a persons palate.I don't like lean corned beef.Period! but I don't like fatty corned beef where you have to risk choking on some fat as it goes down,.I want to see some marbling in the sandwich,Some slicers don't understand that part,so I purchased a lean and dry corned beef on Friday after being reassured by the slicer (owner) and his son or grandson? that the sandwich was just like I wanted it,Unfortunately not! Solid, old-school diner setting with piled-high sandwiches to match. Placed a to-go order recently, on my way home from an errand in the city. Staff is super-friendly and accommodating. They seemed to know everyone in the place, meaning there are lots of loyalists here (a good sign!). I ordered a standard corned beef Reuben with thousand island dressing, and it came with half a sour dill pickle on the side. When I got the sammie home and unpackaged it, it was a mile high! Corned beef was pretty lean and sliced very thin. The rye bread was buttered and grilled perfectly from their flattop and the Swiss cheese was melty and sour pairing nicely with the meat and dressing. Not my favorite Reuben in the city, but a solid contender with enough meat to make another sandwich (at a later time) if you don't want to tackle this entire beast in one sitting. In advance of St. Patrick's Day, my co-workers celebrated with some sandwiches from Danny's Deli. Looking back, celebrating in advance while the world was still 'normal' was a great idea. I ordered a traditional corned beef sandwich platter with an additional side of coleslaw. The platter included the sammich, french fries, and a dill pickle. The corned beef was juicy and very tasty - just perfect. The coleslaw and pickle were good, but the fries were cold, as expected, because our order was to go and we didn't eat until about 30 minutes after they were made. I'd definitely eat here again. In fact, we'll probably do this again next year, if there is a next year ;-P read more

I love it here! You'll notice the staff/owner and his wife knows everyone by first name! They make it a personal experience every time you come. The food is your YUMMYYYY typical neighborhood diner breakfast spot! Never been for lunch but I'm 100%% positive I'll be pleased based off the amazing customer service. The food is great The service is great It issssss a small hole in the wall so it's not the cleanest, the building itself is outdated. I'll be back for a breakfast plate! .... We stopped here before going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which is located just a few miles from the deli. The outside is very unassuming, to the point where we thought the place might be closed, which it thankfully was not. The staff was very friendly and, upon hearing that we were from out of town, offered us samples of both their renowned corned beef and chicken salad. Both sampledelicious; flavorful but not too salty, with a comforting homemade quality. We were very happy with all our meals, which were made to order in the open kitchen and served up quickly, despite the busy lunchtime rush. We would definitely eat here again! read more

WOW. Just Wow! After driving by this little joint the other day - I checked them out on Yelp. At the time - 11 reviews averaged out to 4.75 stars. That means I had better check this place out! First, I stopped by for breakfast. I was intrigued by the thought of their breakfast wrap (really a Burrito). It was advertised as bacon, eggs, home fries, cheese and tomato. I asked if I could have it where they substituted their corned beef hash for the bacon? They told me no problem! I got it to go - they made it fresh and hot to order! Man was that ever good! My only regret is that I wanted to add some black pepper and hot sauce to it - but it was still really damn good! Next up - we got their "Jaw Breaker" corned beef sandwiches at lunch time, served with mustard and swiss cheese. The thing was huge - loaded with more corned beef than I've ever seen in a sandwich!! (see attached pix). But even better, was that it so damn lean and tender! I could only eat half my Jaw Breaker this time around - but man was it good! I will be back to visit again - and eat it next time! read more

Stopped in for breakfast, and was immediately greeted with Good Morning" from all the staff. Really cool. I tried the western omelette & homefries because they didn't have my goto biscuits & gravy. We had an early breakfast today at Danny's Deli in Cleveland. The food was outstanding and it made me wish that every eating establishment was a family owned business like this one. You really can't beat the quality that local owners put into their business. I think i had the best breakfast i've ever had. The corned beef omelet and real thick bacon was delicious. In this dodgy part of Cleveland, in what used to be a garment district, there's very little to choose from. With an even shorter list of eateries, you're best bet is to roll back the expectations, ergo no disappointments. Honestly what could be memorable in an area that totes "secure parking" as an added employee benefit? Anyway, since the car was "secure," it was safe to embrace the local culture and visit Danny's Deli - full disclosure- there was no where else in walking distance. If you think the looks of it were as tough as it's surroundings, you'd be right. But after sitting down, chatting with our 16 yr veteran of Danny's waitress, scoffing down a pastrami, some cole slaw, fries and extra pickles, i wanted to go back for more. Danny's Deli is genuinely real. Great food, great value and great place to have a bite. read more

They sat two other people that came in 10 minutes after me, then when I got upset explained that they were waiting for a specific table to leave. (The people paid their check and sat for another 45 minutes, leaving the same time we asked for our check) I explained that seating people before me, then hoping a table would leave to accommodate me, while not communicating with me is not ok. I was met with "oh" and "yeah, but". I ended up sitting at a high top which is uncomfortable for me but they seemed unwilling to help find a solution other than apologies. (Lydia was very nice) I am light skinned and my partner is white, everyone else was black. It crossed my mind as to why, but I hope it's not the case that we were discriminated against. And there's a mandatory 18% tip. Good thing there was, not sure I would've left one.

I'm so sad about this, but this was not my favorite experience at Leavened. Customer service was great of course but my selections fell short. I got a mushroom and ricotta croissant, which was fine. I forgot the ricotta was supposed to be there because it mostly tasted liked mushroom, but it was good. I also got the cinnamon monkey bread. This was not good. It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.

The sandwich was dry as a bone and a really sad empty version of a banh mi. The chocolate rye cookie I bought as a back up was thankfully still deliciously chocolatey and soft as usual. The guy at the register said the bread pudding still has a "cinnamon roll base, so it has orange in it" despite nothing in the sign denoting this awful addition to bread pudding and the fact that cinnamon rolls are not orange rolls. But I digress and I won't fight with a cashier over their poor decisions lol. Also got a cherry chocolate sourdough on impulse. Pray it is soft inside.
