My mom has been coming to this bakery for many years. It's her treat for herself after her Cleveland Clinic appointments. They have so many great pastries in the case. It's so tough to choose what to have when you really want it all. My mom loves their chocolate coconut bars. They're so moist and delicious. Nut cake was very moist and tasty. Hermit cake was chocolatey goodness. Tasted like a brownie with chocolate chips. Peanut butter brownie was one of the best brownies I have ever eaten. OMG!! The bottom was like shortbread which made it even better. They also got great rye bread to share. We came here to get takeouts for lunch. They were very busy. There were 2 lines: one for the bakery and one for food and deli. I ordered a tribe sandwich which had corned beef and pastrami. My partner got the corner beef. Each sandwich got a complimentary chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was so soft and delicious. I loved my sandwich. Typically, most Jewish places would have sauerkraut in the sandwich but this place used Swiss coleslaw instead. I actually liked the coleslaw cause it brought some sweetness to the sandwich. We also got 2 potato latkes. They were cold so we warmed them up before we ate. They were okay. The pastries looked so good, so we grabbed 2 tea biscuits and a mish mash rye bread. Throughout my life, I've followed Davis Bakery from its Cedar Center location to its current spot on Chagrin Boulevard. I am going on the record to state: There is no rye bread that can match the crunchy crust and the perfectly baked bread with seeds. When you ask for extra lean corned beef, you get perfect slices that stay intact--no crumbling. The potato salad is delectable with a taste that I've never found anywhere else. The bakery counter is a must. My faves are the Russian tea biscuits and coconut bars, but the delectable choices are endless. Make this deli your prime stop! read more

Davis Bakery is at the top of my list to visit anytime I'm in the Cleveland area. Luckily they ship nationally, so I've been able to order some of my favorite things to California. But, there's nothing like getting it fresh from the deli/bakery. On our last visit my brother and I ordered corned beef sandwiches and bought a variety of pastries. The black and white cookies and coconut bars are our absolute favorites. The sandwich was amazing and I'm making this my reminder to get one every visit from now on. What the heck happened here. I've been a fan, and should know as I grew up working in my uncle's New York Bakery. Had a friend just in from Tampa and she wanted Deli. I had a turkey reuben, it was processed turkey, not off the bone, and was barely warm. My wife a regular corned beef reuben and our friend a hot roast beef. They said they never had so much fat ever! It was embarrassing. She even said the cupcakes she bought were the worst she ever had. Where to go? Jack's was just sold again, so I hope it goes back to quality over high profit. Very upsetting. We moved to Cleveland in 2019 and this has become our favorite bakery! The choices are diverse, the prices are good, and it just feels like home. The workers are so nice and welcoming and start to become your friends! I cut back on sugary treats about a year ago so I haven't been as much as I used to, but I still go back every now and then for a wonderful cheat treat. Rye had a really deep and immediate flavor, and managed to hold up ok for a few days. Coconut cake, while not really my usual thing, was delightfully moist. This is one of those places that you can ask for recommendations from the people around you because they are probably the local that has been coming for a while. I think that if I lived in the area, I would too. The staff is really kind. Each sandwich gets a pickle and a cookie (and a smile), and because I was splitting it with my wife, the gentleman cut our sandwich in half and gave us each our own cookie and pickle. Called at 6:40pm, asking if I arrived in five (5) minutes would I be too late - called back and requested I put my order in, to facilitate time. Clerk responded no phone orders after 6:30p, so when I made it in the door, I ordered coleslaw, 2 sandwiches (tuna), and (pastrami), soup, and (4) four separate pastries. I did not receive correct pricing with the couplings offered (the same clerk reported not seeing the register key, but said she'd take (1) one dollar off.
