ASTONISHING! This is an unassuming GEM hidden in plain sight! I've probably driven past it a million times. We came here after our morning yoga class and were blown away at the quality of the food, the vibrant energy of the wait staff, and cozy comfort of the dining area. This is a small diner with BIG personality! Our waitress was attentive, helpful with dietary restrictions and generous with the coffee! Veggie omelet was well received, and no charge to sub for feta and CRISPY hash browns! Spinach salad was BIG and full of cranberries and oranges. The brunch burger was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! A huge, juicy all beef patty, perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked (I got mine medium), topped with a crisp hash brown, bacon and an over easy egg! Zero condiments needed! Ummmm where to begin. Found this place on accident just looking for a breakfast. Unreal. Unfortunately i have no pictures. Anyways, small little place that's says on the window they specialize in Corned Beef. So of course, I ordered the corned beef hash breakfast with eggs, toast and home fries. Remarkable. Fast, fresh and delicious. My wife ordered the Biscuits and Gravy with a side of home fries. Also remarkable. Homemade biscuits. A place I am definitely willing to travel to again for breakfast. They serve breakfast and lunch all day and the hours are from like 6-3 pm. ( not for sure). If in the area , give them a look. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. BEWARE: Nate's is NOT Kid-Friendly--They'll Shame Your Child and Charge You Double for It: After a sleepover, I took my young daughter and her two friends to Nate's for breakfast, expecting a fun, easy meal before our planned activity for the day. One of the kids was excited to order a Belgian waffle. She must have only seen the word "waffle" on the menu and didn't fully realize it came with butter and powdered sugar on top. She later told me that, in her experience, the butter is usually served on the side--just like the syrup was. When her waffle arrived, her excitement immediately faded. She didn't want, and couldn't have the toppings on the waffle. I apologized to the waitress and explained the mix-up, assuming it would be a simple fix. She took the plate to the manager, and I expected they'd just bring out a new waffle. Instead, the manager came to our table, rude right from the start, and said he would make another one--but I'd have to pay for both because the menu stated it came with butter and powdered sugar. I was stunned. A small child had overlooked a garnish in her excitement, and we were being charged double because of it? The menu also states the waffle comes with syrup, but that was served on the side. So if she did read it, maybe she assumed the butter and powdered sugar would be, too. Or maybe she was just excited and only saw the word "waffle." It doesn't matter. What matters is that this was some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. In all my years dining out and working in restaurants, I have never seen anything like this. Even when adults make an honest mistake the majority of restaurants try to make it right without charging the customer. And this was a child. I spent over a decade working in a high-end steakhouse and more than five years in diners and other restaurants. Not once did any of these establishments treat a customer this way. And to charge double over a quarter cup of batter that costs less than the ladle used to scoop it? Absolutely absurd. To make matters worse, my daughter's friend was on the verge of tears, feeling so guilty that I was being charged double because of her. I had to console her and reassure her it wasn't her fault--something I should never have had to do. What kind of establishment makes anyone, let alone a kid feel this way? I'm an easygoing, reasonable person. I truly don't expect much, especially these days. I know costs are high, and I always try to be realistic and understanding. But this was ridiculous. There was no attempt to be kind or accommodating--just a rigid, heartless, "policy" and a manager without a shred of empathy. He literally walked away before I even had a chance to respond to his cold, "We're charging you double for this." The waitress, on the other hand, looked mortified and he apologized profusely after he stormed away. I saw her whispering to another server a few minutes later, clearly sharing what happened, and her expression said it all--she was just as disgusted as I was, they both were. After I left, I felt terrible about the entire situation. I reached out through Nate's website using their contact form, summarizing what happened and asking for someone to please provide an explanation for why this occurred and whether this behavior was typical for them. Two weeks went by without a response. I followed up, expressing my frustration and requesting at least the courtesy of a reply. I made it clear that if I continued to be ignored, I would have no choice but to share my experience with my fellow Clevelanders, who deserve to know the truth about Nate's so-called "kid-friendly" environment. Now, over three weeks later, I have been completely ignored and disrespected by the ownership too. Despite my attempts to address this privately, I have been left with no other option. It genuinely pains me to have to write this, as I never want to damage a restaurant's reputation. However, I have given them more than enough time to make things right, and they have refused. From the start, they failed on every level--rude management, a complete lack of empathy, and ownership that refuses to even acknowledge me as a person. This situation is not about the extra $10 I was forced to pay. It truly never was. It's about the principle and how we were treated. The entire issue could have been avoided with just a small amount of decency. This wasn't simply a bad experience--it was frustrating, humiliating, and, quite frankly, traumatic for a little girl who just wanted a waffle. The fact that the leadership at Nate's has ignored my attempts to resolve this in a respectful and timely manner speaks volumes. Do not bring your kids here unless you're prepared for them to be shamed over a simple mistake--and for you to be charged double because of it. Also had onion rings which were the best onion rings I have had in a very long time. The breakfast portions other diners had looked huge. We hadn't been back to Nate's in about 3yrs because the service was ALWAYS so slow! Order the breakfast food and 35min later still no food! So after 3+yrs we went back today. I can't believe nothing had changed! Today, we ordered our food, and about 15min later 4 teenagers sat down and ordered. After 40min, FINALLY the food was coming out! But it was the teenagers orders. I stopped our waitress and told her we had ordered 15min before they even came in! She apologized, and said he cooks in the order that got brought in first (I said yes, that was us! 15min before the boys) still waited another 8min before our breakfast came out. A total of 45min!! Nate's is one of our go-to breakfast places on the west side. The food is excellent, not fancy but definitely on the higher end, quality-wise. Excellent toast and any of the meats are great, as one might expect from a deli. The service is usually quick, though we've had one or two bad experiences. Pricing is average. There are a couple downsides. Not every pop selection is a fountain drink, so be careful what you order or you might end up with a single 12-oz can and no refills. It's a busy place and there's no place to wait for a table, so it can be awkward if there's a wait (and there often is during busy weekend hours). You seat yourself, and I've seen a couple minor skirmishes when someone grabbed a table and someone else felt like it should've been theirs. It's a small place with a lot of tables, so if you're looking for lots of elbow room, you'll need to grab one of the booths. I wouldn't advise going here if you have a larger (more than 4) group, at least not on a weekend. (Update 7/12/17, deducted a star): We're starting to get sporadically bad service from a couple of the waitresses. There's one who has red hair, older woman, very friendly, who just seems to be unable to remember anything past the point she walks away from your table. We've sat in her section and been ignored for quite a while, or asked for beverage refills multiple times and then just got up and walked behind the counter ourselves. This has happened on more than one occasion and we noticed other diners having similar problems with her. So I'll amend my review to say, "Make sure you figure out which waitresses are good and stick with them." read more

Went for brunch with my sister and we both loved our meals! I had a "Build Your Own Omelette" with mushrooms, onions, green peppers, jalapeños, tomatoes and cheddar. It was cooked to perfection! I'm really particular about eggs and very rarely order them at restaurants because they usually aren't cooked well/done enough. But my omelette was cooked just right. It came with thin sliced fried potatoes and I chose rye bread for my toast. I've pretty much eliminated potatoes from my diet, but I am so glad I decided to indulge this time - they were delish with a little ketchup and hot sauce. The rye toast was so tasty, I bought an entire loaf to go. My sister got 2 eggs over medium, sausage links, potatoes and white toast. She liked it so much, she cleaned her plate. I stole two bites of sausage and kicked myself for not ordering my own! We totally loved our first visit to Nate's and look forward to going again very soon!
