New to the area and having scoped out a few spots we opted to try out Dan's for a late B-fast early lunch option in Silverhill. We had driven by Dan's in the past .. with the high reviews we wanted to put them on our bucket list. First things first, hours are bit unusual 10-3 but hey why not. We landed around 10:30 and the place was pretty quiet .. just another couple seated. First impressions were good, nice clean spot, 50's theme with like kind music. You order from the front register so we went about picking from their menu. A couple of things, one I noticed the cook was preparing off a couple gas like hot plates vs a griddle, a small concern initially. I opted for the Dinner B-fast eggs, hash browns pattie sausage and raisin toast. My partner went lunch focus with a Dinner burger & fries. The wait was short and our food arrived hot and ready to eat ! Here's the breakdown: Diner B-fast - a bit underwhelming to say the least. Eggs were cooked OK, the hashbrowns were a bit soggy and really greasy sad to say. The pattie sausage was thin and so salty it was hard to eat. The raisin toast was hard, dry and really crunchy. All in all - one of the less digestable b-fast plates since landing here 6 weeks ago. Diner Burger - our order taker missed the cheese we asked for so we ended up with a reg burger vs the cheese burger. The sandwich was good but came with a handful of seasoned fries which were OK but honestly hold the seasoning and just give the real deal. I must say our hopes and expectations were high based on past reviews and comments. Unfortunately this one crashed and burned. Now off the list - not a repeat for us sad to say.

BLT, cucumber and tomato salad. And pork rinds. All pretty good.

Such a cute diner! I love the retro decor. Fun to see restaurants like this still around. Super friendly service and staff. I had the BLT with tomato and cucumber salad. I also had to try the pork rinds. All the food was really good. For the BLT, I just wish they used iceberg lettuce ( instead of leaf or romaine lettuce ). But the sandwich had plenty of bacon and the melted cheese was tasty. My mom in law said the chicken wrap was yummy. I'd like to go back and try their breakfast. Also, get a shake! You should check out this place :)

Very good food. Rueben and Santa Fe chicken wrap. Both were good. Service was prompt. Loved the themed cafe. Takes me back to a simpler time. Love the 50,60,70's. We were in the area checking family history. They produced a great history of Summerdale and the area. Found name of uncles in graduating class names. 1928 & 1930. Thank you Dan's

I always love a diner. I think of many that I have been to that have 30 page menus and massive numbers of tables. That is not what this is. Very quaint, in a very quaint town on your way to the beach. It definitely has the diner atmosphere going on, with a 1950's ish theme. I ordered the D3 Patty Melt and a side of PORK RINDS. That is very unusual. They also have chips as a side. When I asked if they were made in house, I was told they are out of a bag. At least they are Zapp's, which is a high quality chip. I noticed that on the BLT you can get a pimento cheese added for $2. I asked if I could have that ad another side and they were out on the day I visited First of all, the pork rinds were still crackling when they arrived at the table!! Really good, hot and fresh. The Patty Melt was also really good. Not too greasy with onions, bacon, pepper jack and cheddar cheese and a special sauce. They have Coke products in the bottle, so no free refills. Good sweet tea and lemonade. You order at the counter and they have lots of ice cream options, including floats, malts, shakes, splits and ice cream in waffle or cake cones. I will definitely come again.

Yummy lunch! In Elberta geocaching, I Yelped a lunch place and found Dan's. We were not disappointed! I ordered a reuben with broccoli salad, and my friend ordered a burger with homemade pork rinds. If I had one suggestion, it would be to toast the bread on the reuben. Otherwise, excellent!

Service was amazing, no wait, sit where you want , then order at counter I got the grilled chicken club, the chicken was a little tough, but it was a great meal. I finished the whole plate! The homemade "chips" are fantastic and the 50s/coke theme is wonderful looking. My partner got a double cheese burger with bacon, he loved with as well. Both left with empty plates and full bellies! 10/10 would recommend for brunch

Dan's Diner is truly one of a kind! This small, family-owned business provides such a wonderful experience. The service was incredible, and the people were so friendly and kind--it was truly a joy to eat there! The food was delicious, and you can really taste the quality. I had the chocolate chip pancakes, and they were absolutely perfect. If you're looking for a warm, welcoming atmosphere with great food, do yourself a favor and stop by Dan's Diner!

We love the service and of course the food is so awesome. The friendly weight staff comes around throughout your entire dining experience and provides so many awesome sides in addition to your dinner selections. The staff comes around and brings fried okra, smothered potatoes, and various other delicious southern side dishes. The food is so delicious and definitely remind you of HOME and the variety of menu items are perfect and so so so yummy. The 32 ounce mugs with your drink of choice is hilariously, huge and so generous... we also learned on this trip that you could purchase one of those jugs to go. The ambience is cool. It kinda reminds you of an old country restaurant with wooden benches and historical items, pictures, and memorabilia all throughout the entire restaurant. The biggest part and honestly a fun part for families is this is also the place that's coined "Throw em rolls" where they throw huge hat and fresh dinner rolls to your table so at any time you can see flying rolls throughout the dining room rooms. It's so much fun. I would definitely add this to your list if you are in the area to check out. The food, the service is really great and just a very simple, casual dining experience.

The rolls come out fresh and hot, and they're really good! They also come around throughout the meal with different "pass-arounds" that they serve right at your table. I tried the fried okra and really enjoyed it. There were several other options being passed around as well, so you definitely won't leave hungry. For my meal, I had the chicken wings and was very pleased. Other family members tried the country-fried steak and shrimp, and everyone seemed happy with their food. The portions are generous, and even the drink cups are GINORMOUS! Service was good and timely, especially considering how busy and lively the restaurant was. It's very family and kid friendly, and you can tell Lambert's has been around for a long time and has become an experience in itself. My biggest recommendation: make a reservation, especially if you're coming with a large group. Without one, you could easily be looking at a 45-minute wait or longer. Overall, I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to experience Lambert's. Good food, good service, a fun atmosphere, and catching a hot roll flying across the restaurant makes for a pretty memorable meal! Definitely worth experiencing at least once.

So far the only actual gumbo I've had in Alabama is at Tamara's Downtown in Fairhope, AL. I ordered the fried grouper finger and shrimp basket which was decent tasting but a smaller portion size. On another visit I sampled their cheeseburger and it had decent sized meat patty on it with some good flavors. I also had the key lime pie for dessert which was alright and pretty par for the course and very similar to most of the other key lime pies I've had in the area. The service was alright but they did a take a bit longer to refill my iced tea than I would have preferred. Overall this is a cool spot to visit and they have a nice variety of options although I can't recommend the "gumbo" Alabama soup.
