Best Seller...LA STREET PASTRAMI (Served Hot & Spicy) "Absolutely delicious LA's Newest Sensation"

This place has the best subs! I tell everyone I meet about them. I forgot to place my order today until half way down (I drove down from SCV) and the guys were still nice and didn't make me wait for them to complete a catering order first. Customer service and subs always a 10/10

Opened in 1980, Dan's has been a staple of Woodland Hills for decades. The Menu is massive, with too many choices - I don't know how they keep track! I'm a purist so I go with the classics - #1 Italian Sub and the #10 Pastrami & Cheese. Both are excellent. The Italian tasted like a classic antipasti salad on steroids and the Pastrami was deliciously loaded, and full of flavor. On another visit we tried the Spicy Italian, which has a nice kick and is excellent. You can't go to Dan's without trying one of their Signature Sandwiches: The LA Street Pastrami was loaded and delicious. The jalapeños really add to the overall taste of the sandwich. The side of Potato Salad also was tasty. This is a family owned and operated sub shop and all there tickets are still hand written. If I lived closer, I would be here everyday trying something new. There's a vibe here and it's excellent.

We were on the area and just wanted a good sandwich. Drawn by the reviews, we popped in, and decided on a club type sandwich. While it was quite good, I wouldn't call it amazing or anything I would drive out of my way for. Nevertheless, a good solid sandwich.

This place is known for a reason. This is the kind of sandwich shop everyone wants in their neighborhood. Ingredients tasted really fresh. Their bread was soft and the sandwiches had a lot of filling for a good quality price. Highly recommend!

I always get the momma mia on wheat bread.

The wheat bread was overcooked today. I called the resturant and they said it comes out like this sometimes. I have never got a sand-which that look like this. Disappointing.

    # 8 Roast Beef (No cheese) - Served Hot or Cold

Great spot ! I ordered the #8 roast beef sandwich and got it hot. The roast beef was tender, flavorful, and loaded generously, and the bread and toppings were fresh. Everything came together perfectly. Definitely one of the better roast beef subs I've had. Highly recommend getting the #8 hot!

    # 2 Turkey Breast & Cheese (Cold)

Stopped by to pick up a turkey sub for lunch- was a bit overwhelmed by their menu (so many choices!). I ended up choosing a basic turkey sub (#2 on their menu) and it was delicious. The bread was soft and all the ingredients were fresh. Service was good, too. I'll have to examine their menu before I go in next time!

First time here on a recommendation and it did not disappoint! Parking was easy, the service fast and friendly, and my order was correct according to my specifications- I shall return soon ! Indoor and outdoor seating available with cool sports memorabilia all over the walls.

Been wanting to try Dan's Super Subs for quite awhile. The business is a bit larger inside than it seems from the outside. It's small but has tables in the front and back. It's like stepping into a scene with mostly locals. A secret little world. Ordered the cheese sub and absolutely enjoyed it. Customer service was friendly. My root beer was very good too. Recommend.

Ask the Community - Dan's Super Subs

Would you ever consider offering vegan meat like Unreal Deli turkey, steak and pastrami for your vegan subs?

    They never should.

Can we pick up catering order on Sundays?

Sorry, but they are closed on Sundays.

Will the old hours of operation ever come back?

I heard that the hours changed to allow the owner to tend to an ailing parent. How that ultimately plays out is anyone's guess

Will you be open on Super Bowl Sunday for catering pick up?

Unfortunately, we will be closed. Our crew did not vote **yes,** so we go with that.. Cheers

Do you have gluten free bread?

    No, I am sorry.

Does their wheat bread have sesame seeds on them?

    NO.

Are you guys open for dine in?

They're only open for outdoor dining but there's only like two or three tables available.

    Any gluten free subs?

Your neighborhood Italian deli, bakery and market all in one place!…read more Cavaretta's Italian Deli is an east coast style Italian deli that brings back a bit of nostalgia with old school vibes! They've been serving their loyal customers in the San Fernando Valley since 1959! Handmade meatballs and marinara sauce, that's simmered for 7 hours. Lasagna that's made from scratch daily. You can't beat their popular Italian Sub so of course we had to order that! Picked up a couple old school Italian sandwiches for our Hollywood Bowl show. Of course, we couldn't leave without their housemade Tiramisu and Carrot Cake Bar. Trust me, definitely worth it! Don't skip out on their cannolis and other desserts. There's a little market inside and seating. Perfect for a picnic or catering your next event!

Yeah, I too always thought I looked like a young Joe Pesci... Ha! Hey, Fugheddaboudit!!!! Hey, hate me for my ways, but blood is blood and I'm going to run with this Italian thing for as long as I can. And just as my "old Italian Nonna" might have said, had I actually had one... "O mangi la minestra o salti la finestra" But being that I am less than 10% actual Italian blooded, and me not actually having a Nonna who would probably just yell crazy things at me in Italian, I'll just stick to the little Italian that I actually know..... The Food!!!! Yeah give me.... A little meatballs slathered in marinara covered in melted provolone... Or Some thinly sliced prosciutto, mortadella, capicola on some crusty Italian bread... Or even... A square of lasagna with Italian sausage, mozzarella, ricotta, Romano cheese served with a chilled San Pellegrino to wash it all down... And you'd be 100%, not 7.1% correct, that I would enthusiastically rep my Italian heritage and proudly wave the colors of my National flag... The Red, The White & The Bl.... Errr, I mean Green! ;) Yes, I can admittedly get behind Italian food any day of the week and I know my "Nonna" would be proud. Well thankfully, you don't have to go all the way back to the Motherland to visit your Nonna and experience the old world eats of a little place called Italia! Cause Cavaretta's Italian Deli has all your Deli needs and wants covered. Yep, a San Fernando Valley staple since 1959, this spot has been and continues to be the place to grab the Best Italian sandwich (according to the Daily News) this side of the Colosseum (according to me, Lance L.). But the cocoa powder on top of the Tiramisu (aka the cherry on top)... This deli has an Italian Grocery shop with everything you need to make your real or made up Nonna proud back in your kitchen. So, forget about waiting around for your 23&Me results to come back and just get your little pasticcino buns over to Cavaretta's and live like the Italiano's do! Ciao Bella!

Let just start with Cricca's Deli makes some seriously well-crafted sandwiches. You have several choices of bread, and I went with the soft roll, which tasted bakery-fresh and was the perfect match for the sandwich. The large subs are truly large -- easily big enough to share between two people. My friend ordered the Genoa salami, and I got the Italian cold cut, substituting the mortadella for ham. I'm a big vinegar person, so I also asked for an extra side of vinegar. Both sandwiches were delicious, and they definitely don't skimp on the meat--it was stacked high! We chose the Dutch crust bread, which was good, but next time I'm definitely trying their crusty roll warmed up. I was also excited to see that they offer a side of all-beef meatballs, and their antipasto salad looked pretty amazing too. Those are both definitely going on my list to try next time! There is a very small seating area inside, with a table that wraps around the corner of the wall. Since it was way too hot to sit outside, we were very thankful to find a spot inside. After one of the most emotionally exhausting weeks our family has ever endured, we found ourselves laughing in disbelief after being chased away by a rattlesnake at Las Virgenes Creek. Sometimes life has a funny way of reminding you that the best stories are never the ones you plan. Still carrying that adrenaline--and the weight of everything the week had brought--we made our way to Mendocino Farms in Calabasas, hoping for nothing more than a peaceful dinner. What we found was something far more meaningful. Our little girl, Pinta, had just celebrated her 17th birthday. To most people she's "just a dog." To us, she's family... our little strawberry. She's been courageously battling health issues, and after days of worry, tears, and countless prayers, there was one tiny victory worth celebrating: She wanted to eat. Without hesitation, one incredibly kind young gentleman--whose name I wish I could remember--prepared a fresh chicken dinner especially for her. It wasn't extravagant. It wasn't complicated. It was simply... kind. And somehow, that simple act became the most important meal served in the restaurant that evening. Watching her happily nibble on fresh chicken, stop for a sip of cool water, then come back for another bite felt like watching hope return one mouthful at a time. My partner and I couldn't stop smiling. After days of wondering what tomorrow might bring, we were finally allowed to simply enjoy today. What struck me wasn't just one employee--it was the entire team. There was no feeling that we were inconveniencing anyone. No rushed interactions. No obligation. Just genuine hospitality. Every smile felt sincere. Every conversation felt personal. Every moment reminded us that great restaurants don't just feed people... They care for them. I often think businesses spend enormous amounts of time trying to create memorable guest experiences, when in reality they're created by people who choose kindness in moments no handbook could ever script. If someone from Mendocino Farms' leadership happens to read this, I hope you know something: Whatever culture you're cultivating in Calabasas is working. Your team didn't simply serve dinner. They unknowingly became part of one of our family's favorite memories. Years from now, I doubt we'll remember exactly what we ordered. But we'll always remember the night our little strawberry smiled over a plate of chicken... and how a group of strangers made us feel like we belonged. Some restaurants leave you full. The very special ones leave your heart a little fuller, too. Thank you, Mendocino Farms. Thank you for reminding us that kindness is still the finest ingredient anyone can serve.
