Local sub shop that looks and feels small on the inside, but has a MASSIVE menu and a huge number of loyal customers and fans. When coming here to order for takeout, it was jam packed crowded and so many people came in/out to order to go. They have signed pics on the wall of celebs. Clearly this is the place to go in town for a sub. Can we talk about their menu? I've never seen such an extensive sub menu before! They literally have something for everyone and then some. We split two subs - one classic italian and one mamma mia. Both regulars and we asked them to cut it in half. Two regulars shared between two people was plenty of food. You can customize the order by adding on or removing the toppings you want and you can get the subs on either white or wheat bread; the default is white. We brought the subs home and ate it there and I appreciated that the bread wasn't soggy at all. The subs really held up. The italian was good and I liked it with the addition of the dijon mustard but I'd be curious to try another one out in the future, maybe the spicy italian or something else. Opened in 1980, Dan's has been a staple of Woodland Hills for decades. The Menu is massive, with too many choices - I don't know how they keep track! I'm a purist so I go with the classics - #1 Italian Sub and the #10 Pastrami & Cheese. Both are excellent. The Italian tasted like a classic antipasti salad on steroids and the Pastrami was deliciously loaded, and full of flavor. On another visit we tried the Spicy Italian, which has a nice kick and is excellent. You can't go to Dan's without trying one of their Signature Sandwiches: The LA Street Pastrami was loaded and delicious. The jalapeños really add to the overall taste of the sandwich. The side of Potato Salad also was tasty. This is a family owned and operated sub shop and all there tickets are still hand written. If I lived closer, I would be here everyday trying something new. I ordered a Pastrami Reuben, and honestly, for the $17 I spent for the sandwich and a bottle of water, I was very disappointed. They have some parking spots and metered parking but it can still get tricky finding a parking spot. Pricing is fair given the generous portions. Food is great. You must come once and adjust your order from there. For example I would double up the meat when I take bacon out and tell them to do less jalapeños. Almost 2000 Yelp reviews -- so this place is popular. Had the "Surfer Boy" which seemed to be one of the healthier subs -- Turkey, Cheese, and all the fixin's. The soft roll is really fresh and they add alot of lettuce and chopped tomatoes. Not an "overstuffed" sandwich like some delis -- so maybe get yours with "50% more meat and cheese" which is an option. Still, the large sub was big enough to share for two people. Got a side of their excellent pickles for 2 bucks (5 spears), and for a extra buck, they sold me one of their regular size rolls for a future sandwich I'll make myself. Pretty fast service even though I came during the busy lunch rush. Nice people and family run for a long time. I left a 1-star review on Google for this place because they didn't put roast beef in my Flying Dutchman. It just had turkey and ham. My son saw this place on YouTube and asked to try it, so we bought a pastrami sandwich and a Flying Dutchman to share. He got half of my Dutchman and gsve me half of his pastrami. The meats are covered with so many toppings that you can't see the meat until you start eating. As I ate my half, the extras fell off and I noticed only pink and white meat. I checked my son's half and didn't see any roast beef either. I showed the owner's son a quarter of the sandwich, splitting it open to show him the inside with no roast beef in sight. He just said, "It's PROBABLY mixed in there somewhere." He basically accused me of lying to get extra slices of meat. How ridiculous. Instead of making it right in front of other customers he would rather sound cheap and have me pull out a microscope and look for forensic evidence of roast beef in my sandwhich, which is "Probably" there.. When I posted my review on Google, the owner (his dad) replied, claiming I showed up with "one bite left." That is an absolute lie; it was more than a quarter of the sandwich. I want people to know this. It is incredibly rude and petty to argue with customers over a few slices of meat. This unprofessional, rude behavior is reflected in many reviews across platforms. They have classic italian subs, tuna salad subs, pastrami and roasted turkey sandos and more. There is truly something for every sandwich fan. I ordered the regular sized Sweet Caroline on wheat bread. My husband ordered the regular Captain Morgan on wheat. The regular size is GINORMOUS. If you aren't super hungry, you could even split this with someone. To start, the bread was incredible. It's super soft and fresh tasting. For how soft that bread was, it's a wonder it held together my massive sandwich but it did! All of the ingredients on my sandwich were super fresh and crunchy. The dressing on the sub was really delicious too! It was a super unique sandwich I wouldn't expect to get at a regular ol' unassuming sub shop. The shop itself is super small, but when I went they were busy and packed with who I assumed were regulars. It's a super locals only spot. I am happy to have joined the club!
