I ordered a Pastrami Reuben, and honestly, for the $17 I spent for the sandwich and a bottle of water, I was very disappointed. Staff is very nice at the fast casual sandwich shop. There is both limited indoor and outdoor seating. They have some parking spots and metered parking but it can still get tricky finding a parking spot. Pricing is fair given the generous portions. Food is great. You must come once and adjust your order from there. For example I would double up the meat when I take bacon out and tell them to do less jalapeños. Otherwise, everything is great especially their sesame seed rolls that are so soft don't feel like it is too much or too little bread. I would love to come back but it is a bit far. read more

Almost 2000 Yelp reviews -- so this place is popular. Had the "Surfer Boy" which seemed to be one of the healthier subs -- Turkey, Cheese, and all the fixin's. The soft roll is really fresh and they add alot of lettuce and chopped tomatoes. Not an "overstuffed" sandwich like some delis -- so maybe get yours with "50% more meat and cheese" which is an option. Still, the large sub was big enough to share for two people. Got a side of their excellent pickles for 2 bucks (5 spears), and for a extra buck, they sold me one of their regular size rolls for a future sandwich I'll make myself. Pretty fast service even though I came during the busy lunch rush. Nice people and family run for a long time. Very small parking lot on the right side and you have to back out when you leave -- so maybe find parking on Ventura Blvd if you can. read more

The sub looked good and we enjoyed the pickles that came with it but we definitely felt that it was lacking. My hubby called it a tomatoe sandwich because there was a lot of diced tomatoes and onions with italian dressing but the meat & cheese were so thin and missing from the overall flavor. We both agreed that a speciality or meatball sub is probably a winner for this place and you don't come in for a normal sandwich. We got a bag of chips to go and it came around $20. Well, if you have read my reviews for Handy Market and Giamela's there sub sandwiches are amazing. My son and I were on the extreme west side of the valley and decided to try Dans Super Subs. When we walked in we knew there was a challenge, the menu was so overwhelming I knew the price was going to be high. Both my other sub places had at the most 3 or 4 choices with various changes and choices of what you wanted on them. We both ordered the #2 with tomatoes, mayo, cheddar cheese and the small roll. We also purchased a bottle of root beer and my son purchased a can of Coke Zero and a small bag of chips. The cost was $38.00....holy crap. The sandwiches were good but had very little meat and big big bread roll (the bread was quite good). Let's just do a comparison. Handy Market does a Turkey, mayo, tomato's with avocado and cheddar cheese add a 1/2 pound potato salad and a large piece of cornbread and my cost is $14.00. They give you huge amounts of turkey!!! I can't finish the small. Same with my other favorite the cost is $12.00 and is huge with tons of turkey. My recommendation is Dans is good for the bread as long as you don't care about the meat or the huge price. BTW... Parking is absolutely horrible. I apologize Dan, I ordered the #2 and my Son ordered the #16 My putting other companies on this review is what I wanted to do and felt was necessary in showing the vast difference in cost for far less. read more

Was craving a tuna sandwich so thought I check out Dans super subs. Haven't been here in about 15 years or so.... And now I'm beginning to remember why I haven't been back. It's not terrible, but it's nothing special really. Pretty average at best. The bread is totally flavorless like a big old sponge The tuna was lacking flavor. No zing at all. Maybe squeeze in some lemon juice or vinegar or add better quality mayo. Could have used some herbs or additional seasoning to give it a flavor boost. It was a big sandwich but WHERS THE FLAVOR ??? And no cheese in a tuna sandwich, like really? And the onions tastes like water. Again, WHERES THE FLAVOR??? Don't get me started on the pickle. Rubbery with no crunch to it. Service was friendly, guy called himself Jack behind the counter seemed like the owner, super friendly and very open to suggestions and making friendly conversation. I can't believe it took me so long to try this Valley institution! I have heard of Dan's before, and of course had passed a million times on Ventura blvd. We were hankering for a big ol' sub this past weekend, and went to Dan's per a friend's rec. I ordered online and it was super easy! Every sandwich (and there are quite a lot) had really detailed descriptions. My mouth was watering as I scrolled through the menu. They have classic italian subs, tuna salad subs, pastrami and roasted turkey sandos and more. There is truly something for every sandwich fan. I ordered the regular sized Sweet Caroline on wheat bread. My husband ordered the regular Captain Morgan on wheat. The regular size is GINORMOUS. If you aren't super hungry, you could even split this with someone. To start, the bread was incredible. It's super soft and fresh tasting. For how soft that bread was, it's a wonder it held together my massive sandwich but it did! All of the ingredients on my sandwich were super fresh and crunchy. The dressing on the sub was really delicious too! It was a super unique sandwich I wouldn't expect to get at a regular ol' unassuming sub shop. The shop itself is super small, but when I went they were busy and packed with who I assumed were regulars. It's a super locals only spot. I am happy to have joined the club! I can't wait to come back and try more of their subs. The folks at the shop were super kind too.
