    The worst crispy chicken sandwich
    Maral C.

Lovely outdoor seating area and friendly servers, but the service was very slow and the food quality was very poor. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, and it was extremely dry with tough meat, barely any coleslaw, and no flavor. It was honestly one of the worst crispy chicken sandwiches I've had. I asked for a small side of coleslaw to add some flavor and make the sandwich more enjoyable. It took about 10 minutes to arrive, and by then the sandwich had gone cold and was even harder to eat. The side was also very small. To make matters worse, they charged an additional $1.50 for the coleslaw. There was no offer to replace the sandwich, improve it, or remove it from the bill. They only removed the extra coleslaw charge after I complained when I saw the check. Overall, the customer service was disappointing, and the food quality did not meet expectations. Unfortunately, I won't be returning

Great restaurant with an even better ambiance. The outdoor seating is beautiful, and great on summer nights. I ordered the Green Goddess salad with Miso Salmon, it was delicious. They also have a kids menu.

    LEMON MERINGUE PIE

I ordered a slice of Lemon Meringue Pie for pick up along with dinner and received an incredibly small slice for $16. It's kind of ridiculous for the price of a pie elsewhere to get such a small pie. Got the shrimp and avocado salad as well, it was okay. Fries were good. Wish it came with aioli instead of basic ketchup but whatever. If this is unusual I would like to a replacement. If this is normal you should fix the size of your pies. The chocolate cake slice was huge

Black Kale salad added shrimp and avocados + Brussels sprouts + steak frites

I would give it a 3.8 rating.. Tried Superba in Calabasas and overall had a nice experience. Sitting outside was such a good vibe, especially on a beautiful day definitely the move if the weather's nice. Service was good and the food was solid, though nothing that completely blew me away. I ordered the kale salad (no raisins) and actually really liked it, especially after adding shrimp. For drinks, I got their spritz and it was refreshing and easy to sip perfect for an afternoon patio moment. My friend ordered the steak and frites. It was okay, but the fries were the highlight: well-seasoned and crispy. We also shared the Brussels sprouts good flavor, but I wish they were crispier. They add red grapes to the Brussels sprouts, which I wasn't a fan of... the warm grapes with Brussels just didn't make sense to me and the combo didn't really work. Overall, it was a good meal and I'd go again. Next time I want to try breakfast the breakfast burritos looked really good.

Met up for a much needed lunch date with a girlfriend. Perfect afternoon so outdoor seating was a good idea. This place has an amazing patio so it was perfect for an afternoon meal. Inside is quite chic as well. Whoever is the designer/decorator has an amazing sense of style. Checked in which we were told it'll be about a 10 minute wait for a table outside. It actually was just a few minutes. It was quite busy but service was nice. Menu, not big but enough to keep it simple. Water was brought out right when we got seated. Patio gives off garden vibes with planters and plants surrounding the area. Started off with a Bloody Mary, why not. They do have a good list of cocktails and drinks. Simple with the garnish of olives but quite tasty. Food wise, we both got a sandwich. The turkey clubs which came with homemade chips. And the fried chicken sandwich with fries. Both were quite tasty. Sandwiches were quite filling as well as the sides that accompanied them. Also an extra sides of fries is always a good idea. Service was great. Patio seating is beautiful and perfect for an afternoon out. Menu, decent with what they offered. Inside is beautiful if you prefer. Overall, the experience was great. Our waitress was amazing. Plenty of parking.

Superba surprised me in the best way possible! I stopped by with my family for brunch and everything was amazing. The service, the food, the ambiance, they have it dialed. Being from Calabasas, I've seen tons of places in the Commons come and go. I'm really hoping this is one of the ones that stays! Highly recommend!!

This is a new restaurant in the Calabasas Commons shopping area. The vibe is trendy and elegant while at the same time being artistic and kind of avant-garde with all the artwork all around. It's got a slightly surreal vibe with the silver curtains too. It's cute and cozy and definitely unique, really a lovely little space for a date night or classy dinner. The menu is diverse and the food was super fresh and delicious. The pasta was excellent and the flavors really worked. We got a few side dishes like brussel sprouts and fries and salad and everything was equally great across the board. I would have given five stars but it really puts a sour note that there is an extra amount to pay the employees "Happy and Healthy surcharge" on the bill that you have to ask to be removed if you don't want the extra % added to your check. This is a classy place but not a very classy move to have the people who are dining at the restaurant pay for the employee's health benefits. I know customers can ask to have this fee removed but most of my party did not notice the message on the bottom of the first page of the menu that indicated this and I had to point it out.

Great new brunch spot in The Commons! The ambiance is super retro and diner like. Our server was great and always checking in on us. Food wise 4/5. It was a bit too oily for me. They use lots of butter as well. Nonetheless, we still ate it. Recommendations: Tuna melt Paul's "Big boy" Breakfast The OJ (very fresh) Overall, we had a great experience and would potentially be back.

This place was overall pretty good but definitely some weird things to note! MAIN thing to note the charged us a "happy and healthy" surcharge for no reason, when we asked what it was, the server said it goes to the managements health insurance and he could remove it. Very odd and have never experienced this auto charge at a restaurant before? food: i got a bowl and it was delicious, i added roasted chicken and it came cold and refrigerated which was weird with the warm rice especially due to the fact that it was on the menu as "roasted chicken" Service: service was alright, i asked if the cookie had nuts in it and they said no, and then it came with nuts and i pointed it out and he was like idk?? he let us return it though ambiance: great ambiance, beautiful furniture and great vibes!

I have been waiting to try this spot out! You know being in the valley. You don't always want to leave the valley for a vibey spot with good food. This place did not disappoint. I ate indoors for an early lunch and i was quickly attended to by their prompt hostess. I went with a friend so we were both gobsmacked by how beautifully artsy this place is. The aesthetic was giving 90s LA... paris in the 60s... sort of a soho vibe inside. Love the moderno interior design and that it was still comfy (that doesn't always happen). Now for the food! I got the spanish latte which is a double shot of espresso, condensed milk and whole milk. No additional sugar needed! It was perfection. Frothy foam, slightly sweet milk and the light aromatic bitterness of the espresso. Parker house rolls, so this was a big deal on their profile so we had to try it. Have to say i was not impressed. Parker house rolls are meant to be warm and buttery. These rolls. We're cool/room temp and okay at best. The goat cheese, sesame, chili and honey dip on the side was cool. These would be so much better if they served them hot with a side of butter. They could leave the honey, sesame and chili flakes on the side. It reminded me of how bread in paris is served cold. I know if that bread was toasted on the outside and warm on the inside with butter on the side. It would be great The smoked fish tartine!!! Perfection! I mean it's a very well balanced tuna salad on this crispy/crunchy everything baguette. This was such an elevated take on a runa salad on toast. Next rime i want to ask for a aide of the beet and radish. That was a nice acidic bit aa we ate through the toast. Clean, savory, acidic and creamy. Will be getting this every-time. This was my favorite! My second favorite is that crispy chicken sandwich. It's really hard to have a light fried chicken sandwich that is. Ot overly greasy and heavily breaded. This reminded me on the lightly breaded chicken cutlets my mom use to make. I didn't feel heavy and the coleslaw was light enough. My next fave was the fries it came with. They might be skinny but they pack a great punch of flavor! There is this salt and vinegary seasoning on the fries. It was so food i barely touched the ketchup. They taste reminds me of the boardwalk fries i would get at the beach with a aide of vinegar and salt. Sooooo good. I couldn't eat a bit more after this. I was stuffed! I will come back alot more/ goad to know we have another great place to eat in the valley. I have to also say the manager, wait staff, honestly everyone was so attentive, quick and hospitable. I felt welcomed and that always adds a cherry on top. See yall soon!

    Beautiful Frittata

Would probably go 3.5, but I'm okay with the 4 star review and I'll give you the good and the not so good and tell you why. Nothing was "bad." It's tough reviewing restaurants these days because they are really struggling. And yes, the costs have gone waaayyy up, but it also makes it much harder for the average diner to go out. Places like this now become special occasion, once in a while spots, whereas even a few years ago, they would be a regular and maybe weekly drop in. As a Yelper, you need to be honest and hopefully provide any critiques in a nice and respectful way. That's the goal... to tell it like it is, and hopefully let a place know where there is room for improvement, and also point out what they are doing that is great. But I want places to stay afloat and thrive, so it can be challenging. With that said... The staff is really great and friendly. Top notch and A+ for that. Did not really see the inside, but the patio and location (where Le Pain used to be) is comfortable and it is quite pleasant to sit outside. Another A+ The food was delicious, but... $19 for an Egg White Frittata that did not come with anything is steep. Like not even one piece of bread? Isn't that part of what you're famous for? It's in your name. And it might bring people back to shop at the bakery and get some things to go. What about potatoes? Something else? It is cleverly put on a plate so that it fills the whole thing up and it did look and taste great, but come on... it should come with something else. The frittata has avocado, cherry, tomato, cheddar, watercress, radish, chili, turmeric vinaigrette and was quite aesthetically pleasing, as well. The Chicken Chopped Salad clocks in at $21 and was completely legit and a very big portion. But you know... over $20. That came with romaine + gems, pepperoncini, garbanzo, grilled corn, radish, cucumber, roasted onion, fresh mozzarella, house torn croutons, and a za'atar vinaigrette. Really tasty! So, aside from the prices being high (and yes, I know the cost of everything is up, thus the dilemma), here are my other gripes. It was my friend's birthday and when I called to make a reservation it seemed like dessert would be comped. It wasn't. Maybe that was only for a baked good or pastry, so that might be on me, but still. The Butter Pecan Ice Cream made in house was phenomenal but we probably would not have ordered it. For taste it gets an A+. $7.50 for a bottle of sparkling water that probably costs them $1. Ugh. And the real thorn in my side, which I have NOT seen on a bill in a while, is a Happy + Healthy Surcharge. Only 3% and pretty minimal, but still. Why am I paying your employees health benefits??? You pay your employees health benefits and then add that into the cost of each item. This drives me crazy. Anyway, there is the good and the meh. With so many great brunch places around, whose prices are similar but offer more on the plate, it makes choosing a bit easier.

Try this place for the first time a few days ago, and the food was absolutely outstanding! Drinks are very good as well, I tried the chai tea and really enjoyed it. Also got the frittata which was very good and topped it all off with their homemade cinnamon roll dessert. They have a homemade cream cheese frosting which is infused with orange zest of some sort, really good! The place has an older vibe which is on purpose I think it's supposed to be 70s? Although some of the decorations are really bizarre, especially those giant curtains, I mean what's up with those? We had fantastic service and even though the music was a little bit loud at times we really enjoyed our time here. Definitely would come back and would like to bring more friends along for the experience

Cute brunch spot with good flavors in their food. The falafel bowl was good and the avocado toast had a good crunch and fresh avocado and pickled onions on it. The ambiance is very cozy and modern and vibey especially the outdoor area. The sticky bun was one of the best cinnamon buns I have had. My only constructive comments is that the levain toast that the avocado toast was served on seemed dry/not the freshest as well as the turkey patty was dry. For its price point I think it's worth to make note of the quality. But nonetheless the flavor was good. Side note: drinks are STRONG but the banana tiki was flavorful though

While the food was good, I was quite annoyed with 2 issues. First, our friend asked for a glass of pretty standard white wine, was told that she should try something else as that one was not available. When I got to pay the bill, the cost for 5 oz was about the cost of 2 bottles of what she normally buys at a wine store. Second, while the food prices are on the high side, I noticed a charge for use of a credit card. While this is not a big expense, it is extremely annoying and I resent being nickled and dimed. Restaurants deserve to make a fair return but I hate bait and switch and hidden ad-ons. While this won't break the bank, it is unacceptable to me, so I am lowering my rating to average, food 5 star, service ? - you decide.

We decided to come back with friends but on a Wednesday night at 6:30 instead. Sat at a table in the area where the music was but it was very loud and tightly packed with tables and guests. I could barely hear my friends due to the loud conversations, loud laughter, and just the acoustic affects in the restaurant were bad from that. We ordered steak, sides, and thought baked potatoes but got mashed instead. After we ate dinner we asked the manager if we could seat outside for dessert instead due to the loud noises around us. He brought us there but we had to wait at the bar outside till we were seated took an additional 15-20 minutes. After seated it was better than inside with a nice decor too instead. Dessert was ok service good. For such a high-ended restaurant and pricy food it's only avarage, inside decor pretty but very and tightly packed with guests and loud especially for a week day night kind of unusual, I was disappointed think it's a bit overrated sorry to say. I think Flemings, Ruth Chris, or Morton's are better food wise for the same price and dining experience and not as loud too. Think what could make it better is to thin out the crowded packed affect in the main inside dining area would help a lot too, or, if we ever go back sit outside instead I recommend. The service and staff there were very nice, friendly, and attentive and worked hard during service though. So overall raiting is a 3. Tuesday music night inside was good though think because the band is set up where tables of guests would be so less talking and guests listening to the music instead. Hope they make some changes to there inside seating there for improvements will and could help overall.

The…read morecriteria when choosing a place to eat was near where our friend lived, vegan options and nice ambiance. This place delivered on all three. We had a 19:00 reservation, and left Long Beach in the 17:00 hour, but a freeway emergency and lane closures down the way resulted in us being late (24 minutes) to the restaurant. However, we called the hostess while we were en route to let them know, and the restaurant sent a text message when our table was ready which let us say "we are on our way," and I sent a text through Open Table to explain the situation. When we arrived, it took a minute to find parking, but we were able to get our table without issue or attitude. Hoorah! While I am on the topic, parking can be a little tricky. Casalena does offer valet services, but we forgot to bring cashola, so elected instead to find parking on the street. It's mostly residential around the restaurant, but we were able to get a spot not too far away. We lucked out that way. We were seated right away and our server, Corey, came by to introduce himself and asked if there were any allergies or dietary preferences at the table. I mentioned that I am vegan and he told me there are several options and that "items with one lemon next to them are vegan and items with two lemons next to them can be made vegan upon request." This was wonderful news. While I had looked at the menu before we came, sometimes the in-store menus are different or have less options for vegans. Casalena does not. I was able to find a side and an entree that sounded incredibly delicious. The non-vegans with me also found delicious options. We ordered, and Corey answered further questions about the dinner special while keeping our order in his brain. How servers do that, I will never know. He brought a starter salad someone in our party ordered first, and the wine that was asked for. The ambiance is nice. Each table has a light that when touched adjusts the bulb temperature. The dining room is LOUD. Everyone was having loud conversations, but we were able to talk to each other and a semi-escalated volume and communicate fine. The energy was high and positive inside. Our food was served pretty quickly. I got the side order of home-made focaccia and the Pesto Rigatoni. Both dishes were delicious. I ate a whole side of the focaccia (we got two to share with the table,) and my pasta and felt wonderfully full, but not over-stuffed. The others in my party felt the same way. When Corey came by with a dessert menu, we chuckled and politely declined. Now, the prices for Casalena are viewable online. This sort of establishment (for me at least) is not somewhere to go regularly, but as a celebration or occasional treat, completely reasonable to splurge on. The dress code is reasonable, and there was a man in a booth nearby with a Miller Beer t-shirt on, so I think as long as you are not beach-bum casual, you will be okay. The only gripe I have is that the people waiting for the valet to bring their cars up need to clear a fucking path. I'd sprinkle them with a Spatial Awareness Dust if it existed, but other that that, the night was extremely wonderful. I managed to get a few snaps of the food, but didn't want to spoil the experience by making it content. There were a lot of people taking photos and selfies, but I didn't see anyone having their dinner through their phone's lens. So, that was refreshing. All in all, a wonderful night and I look forward to the next celebratory dinner to come back and try more of their fare!

He had tacos and fries, while I opted for loaded fries, which is essentially the same thing, just with a tortilla or without. I really enjoyed my meal! The flavors were spot on, and I appreciated the twist on classic comfort food. The staff was friendly, and the heaters created a cozy atmosphere. The only downside was the parking, which is limited to street parking. When we went, it wasn't too crowded, likely because it had just opened. Overall, I definitely see myself coming back!

(and this guy knows french toast) The weather was a little windy for eating out on the patio, so we opted to eat inside this morning. It was a little noisy, but I didn't have to shout across the table to carry on a conversation. Leaving a busy restaurant without a headache is a big + for me. Sat on the side patio and it was quite nice getting the breeze and some natural light.
