We came for a really, really nice Easter brunch. As with my earlier review of flagship venue Dante, I was blown away by the technique and combinations of flavors and was reminded (again) why Dante is such a great chef. These were not "standard" brunch options, even if what we had on paper were "sausage" or "omelet" etc. The blueberry sausage is one of the best I've ever had. That doesn't mean the menu is not accessible. It very much is. And the pizzas are excellent - I've been here on a Sunday morning before and caught Dante at the wood fired oven. The point is that the food is just sublime. Note, if you're looking for Dante's Michelin star you can find it: there is also the $30 foie gras upgrade (with blueberries) and the "Steak of Aces" $400 option with lobster and a bunch of other delectable items! Finally this time, the desserts were serious standouts. Sea salt in the carrot cake icing; marshmallow in the strawberry cake. It was just delicious. Dante Next Door seems to be a popular place in town so I was excited to check it out from a friends suggestion! It had a nice, low key ambience with dimmed lights. Our waitress was nice and helpful in aiding on what to order. Ultimately, we decided on the popular Banana's Fosters French Toast. Now don't try this unless you're hungry! I'm usually one who can eat, but this was extremely heavy and fulfilling and definitely hit my sweet tooth. I'm usually not a banana flavor type of person, but this was worth it. After reading reviews on what to order, the duck fat potatoes were also raved about. Although, I didn't find them to be anything special unfortunately. It seemed like it moreso lacked flavor. I've been here before and loved it but was disappointed with my last visit. This time the service was very slow from the kitchen. When the entrees did finally come out I was again disappointed. The Spanish Frittata was massive - it was a big circle and probably a half inch thick. But I think it's thickness was its demise. It was very well done and dense. All the ingredients listed on the menu (chorizo, peppers, fingerling potatoes) were all mixed into the frittata, which I think contributed to them dishes problems. This really falls between a 2 and 3 star review for me, but since the descriptor on Yelp for 2 stars is "Meh, I've experienced better," I'm gonna go with a 2. We were looking for a brunch place in CLE and a few of the places we wanted to go to had long waits (that's what we get for not making reservations on a Sunday!). We got on Yelp and my brother-in-law suggested Dante Next Door. I looked up some of the pics and it looked good. They also had an opening via Open Table, so I booked it! When we got there, we were seated right away but after over ten minutes, no one had come by to even say anything. We had our menus down and kept looking at every person who walked past our table (and there was a lot of wait staff!). Finally I grabbed a guy and told him we had been waiting over ten mins. He was very nice, apologized and said he was new. He very quickly got our order in. I ordered the French Toast since I had been craving that! I felt like it took awhile for our food to come out. Again, it might have been an average time but the additional ten minutes we sat there could have made it feel longer than it was. Our food came out and everything was just meh. The french toast I got wasn't that great. It was very "doughy." Also, the maple syrup that came with it was only halfway filled up. My sister and I shared a side of home fries and that was good, but I had no idea it was $9! (I must not have been looking at the menu correctly). That should be no more than $6! So good potatoes, but a rip off. The manager also came over two times while we were eating and apologized to us for the wait. He was very nice (as was our waiter) so that's why I kind of feel bad rating them a 2, but the food just wasn't that great and my sister and brother-in-law agreed. Came here for brunch and I am so glad I did. I got the pasta carbonara fritatta while my friends got the strawberry shortcake pancakes and the benedict. We also decided to share an order of their duck fat potatoes. So for starters, the duck fat potatoes were out of this world. Seriously. They were flavorful fingerling potatoes paired with a tangy rich sauce. The sauce was so good that my friend bought a bottle of it to take home. My carbonara frittata could have used some improvement. I didn't like how dense it was. I felt the eggs could have been softer and fluffier. However, I did like that it was a unique dish and unique take on brunch. I tried the hollandaise sauce on my friend's benedict and I will say that it was one of the best hollandaise sauce I've tried. Usually hollandaise doesn't have taste for me, but the sauce here actually had flavor! Last but not least, the service here was A+. Our server was personable and very attentive. Took my husband here for Father's Day brunch. It was terrific, from beginning to end. Drinks were yummy- I had an iced coffee drink made with frangelica, and he got some kind of mixed drink with tequila and fruit juice and cayenne. I had the French toast pecan Napoleon which was stupendous and he got the frittata carbonara - ditto. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. My friend and I were walking in Tremont after on a waiting list to eat at Southside. We came across a pretty patio area with people dining at and we wanted to see which place it was. We discovered it was Dante Next Door, literally next door to Dante. Clever. This place is strictly a brunch place while Dante is a dinner spot. Upon walking in there was a nice bar area and seating inside with lots of space. We decided to sit outside since it was such a beautiful day. Lucky for us, a couple just got up so the wait was short. They walk you through Dante's dining area, very fancy and spacious, and take you through the back past the kitchen to the patio area. Beautiful stone patio with about 5 tables. I liked the chairs which kinda spring back and you can rock. A young girl pored is some water while we waited for our server. The menu sounded amazing! Everything on it. I wanted one of everything. I decided on the vegetarian Benedict with comes with artichokes avocado tomato (I wanted mine without this) and greens with a perfectly poached egg and light amount of hollandaise sauce (which I appreciated, I don't like it drowning in sauce) all on top of a toasted English muffin. It comes with a lightly dressed side salad. The duck fat potatoes on the menu intrigued me and I am a carb whore so I needed to order a side of those. They were perfectly crisp and not oily. It came with a sauce but it was too spicy for my taste. They were good just on their own. My friend ordered the special of the day which was a vegetable omelette, loaded with vegetables it was. He added a side of blueberry sausage but I don't eat much meat so I declined a taste. It had blueberries inside and a blueberry topping. He also ordered the orange marmalade pancakes. oh my god. These were so damn good. With the whipped cream on top it was fantastic. Highly recommend this. The menu is a little pricey but you do get your money's worth. Beautiful presentation and high quality ingredients. Service was quick and pleasant. I really have no complaints about the place or the food. The server returned and gave him plastic packets of Smucker's jelly. He looked at me across the table and said, "Wow, that's surprising." I have raised him to notice the little things in restaurants, and he definitely noticed that. A restaurant with Dante's name on it should definitely offer some type of house-made jam for breakfast. Visited this restaurant for brunch with a friend. The only real issue I had was the temperature control. If you're sitting at a table close to the main entrance door, you'll be keeping your jacket on for sure. Other than that, Dante Next Door is a solid brunch spot. They have really good coffee (including some boozy options). I ordered the pasta carbonara frittata. I've never seen anything like that before - it's an egg frittata, and it's topped with a small pile of pasta carbonara. It was really good!! We also ordered a side order of the maple bacon. The food was great but when I got home and looked at our bill we got charged a 2.00 fee for having my scotch neat. There was a line item for my scotch and then another line item of $2.00 simply titled neat below my scotch. My gf and I came here for a Sunday brunch. The restaurant was packed with people around noon. Luckily we were able to sit at the bar without wait. The restaurant has an Italian/Spanish vibe. Has some nice Italian finishes, but the colors on the walls remind of a Spanish restaurant. There's a few original artworks of some vegetables and fruits. And of course lets not forget those "unique" looking chandeliers (aka condomliers). There are two bar areas in the restaurant. One of which faces the brick pizza ovens. The restaurant ambiance is quite different to Dante. Next Door feels more casual due to its open layout. Anyhow, we ordered the crab cake eggs benedict, smoked salmon pizza, and duck fat potatoes. We also had a mango iced tea. The bartender/server Victoria was very cheerful and attentive. The iced tea was light and refreshing. It was nice to see that it wasn't overly sweetened. The food arrived rather quickly and the portions were very generous. There were two eggs benedict in the order. The crab cake was nicely done; flavorful and moist. The soft english muffin was lightly toasted. There was also ham. All of this was topped with lemon hollandaise sauce and a poached egg. The runny egg and hollandise sauce combined beautifully. The hollandaise sauce had a bit of tarty lemon flavor which the egg yolk balanced out nicely. The smoked salmon pizza was also very good. The pizza was topped with smoked salmon, hard boiled eggs, and onions. The salmon had a nice smokey flavor and the crust of the pizza was very good. The pizza here are all made in the brick oven. The potatoes were also very good. These little potatoes absorbed all the goodness from the duck fat. The potato add on was definitely a good choice. We left the restaurant with one whole eggs benedict and about half the pizza. The leftovers were still very good the next day! Growing pains or confused identity? Note - I went during the Soft Opening where the full menu was not available. Since then, I've walked by and the tables are set. Honestly it makes for a different appearance. The pizza - Dante himself was serving up the pizza. Each pizza was "personal pan size" but fire roasted in their amazing (and hot if the A/C isn't on) wall of pizza ovens. The chefs worked in sync with one another, putting on toppings, putting pizza in the hole, switching it around, out and then slicing. It was a pizza version of a Model-T line. My favorite pizza was hands down, the seafood pizza. I tried to try a little bit of everything and even the "plain" Margarita pizza was very good. All the pizza's had quality toppings, were very flavorful and the dough had just the right Italian crisp, that they felt unique against the traditional Edison's pizza across the way. My biggest complaint was with the space itself. Next to Dante, which is parceled out and feels cozy no matter where you sit, Next Door is the antithesis. It's open with self-painted art up on the walls. It seems almost thrown together. The same chandeliers (or at least similar) hang from the walls, but they're hanging over a vast and identity-less space. read more

The brunch food and cocktail menus were amazing here and I would've been happy ordering any number of things. The bananas foster french toast was so good. The bread was thick enough and toasted crispy enough that it kept well for leftovers the next morning being microwaved. For me that's very rare to find breakfast foods that make good leftovers. Some extra bacon and home fries from side dishes reheated great too. The rose wine cocktail with a shot of vodka inside was very well made and a good sipper. Service wasn't very attentive but I did like having the privacy at least. We sat at the table inside the old bank vault with a window to view the hanging meat curing. I had heard great reviews from some friends that went to the soft opening and had brunch, so I recommended it for a girls brunch. Any time a new restaurant in Cleveland or opens I usually wait a month or two before going to get what I think will be "the best experience". My friends and I went about a month into opening and we were the only people in the restaurant for the first half hour we were there, it was Saturday at 11:30am. I ordered the pizza of the day (Shrimp & Arugala). The flavor was good but nothing about the pizza stood out to me that would be different from other places with wood fire grills. Time and again, visit after visit, Next Door never disappoints. This time, we were a little worried. The menu seemed to have fewer pasta dishes. Not to worry. Whoa. Best brunch I've had in a long time (maybe ever??) Super friendly service, amazing menu with so many great options, and the food was even better than I had hoped. The Bianco pizza was light and savory/sweet with truffle oil and crushed pistachios . It surprisingly paired well with the salmon Benedict croissant special we had. My son had the plain waffle with raspberry compote (on the side because he's a picky 3 yr old). He slammed the plain, yet fluffy and delicious waffle and we enjoyed his compote ;) French press coffee was a great addition to the meal. Next time we'll have to try the bloody Mary's. 3.5 stars. This restaurant is literally next door to Dante, and in order to eat in the patio you basically walk right through Dante to get there. The restaurant has some very good options, and some things are just okay. The pizzas are fairly large, very creative, and pretty tasty. The crab cake benedict was also very good but somewhat small for its price. The carbonara frittata is overwhelmingly heavy and should be avoided at all costs. read more

My go to menu item is the bloody Mary's and the Everything Bagel Lox pizza. The bloody Mary is spiced to perfection and the pizza is so tasty and unlike any other breakfast pizza that I've had in the past. The staff are always super friendly and accommodating. I had steak and eggs as my entree. The eggs came out over hard, server quickly replaced. My wife had a baked potato pizza, amazing, perfect crust. However, every single time it turns out incredible if you just go for the menu item that seems a little bit weird. The pasta carbonara frittata was beyond any brunch i've ever had. Along with the blueberry sausage- perfect. He uses softer flavors that all work so well. The blood orange iced tea was the best drink to compliment everything. My wife and I went for our anniversary for brunch. It was nice to get out. They did a good job overall with the whole social distancing and what not. My Bloody Mary was not even close to the description, but good none the less. The shrimp and grits were good, but my wife had to wait for her French toast. I was almost done before she received her meal. Timing on the meal was way off, but to their credit, they brought some pastry to buy some time. We had the bolognese as an app. Always good and did not disappoint. On a sad side note, I must say that a couple came in while we were finishing up and I could not help but notice that the table had not been cleaned before they sat down. I'm sorry, but that is not good at all. I can only hope our table was. Good food with some flaws in service. Safety is key. Thus the three stars. read more

We arrived 20 mins late for our reservations and apologized profusely. First being denied to sit, then the manager Phil agreed to sit us but offered the rudest service in the 10 minutes we stayed. All we were told was what we "couldn't have" and rush to make a choice. Our questions about the menu layout were literally met with an eye roll with walking away, and this was from the manager as our server!
