Smokin Whirl Pizza
Pam Pam G.

Though both the establishment and the pizza look unassuming and questionably appetizing, the pizza was surprisingly tasty! Our pizza had fresh toppings and a generous serving of cheese. The crust was buttery and crispy. The three of us killed our pizza within minutes! Pizza Whirl is a good spot to grab a quick, affordable bite.

We had the best experience here for my son's birthday party. They were so accommodating and had everything ready for the kids to make their own pizzas. The wood-fired oven cooks them fast, so the kids didn't have to wait long, and they loved every minute of it. The staff went above and beyond for us, and the prices are very reasonable. Everyone enjoyed the pizzas, and most importantly, the kids had a blast. Highly recommend!

Ordered a Margherita pizza through Doordash. We loved it! Tasty sweet sauce, lots of fresh basil and cheese. Yummy crust. Give them a try!

Cheesy Bread and a margherita signature pie Very greasy but still tasty!

This is a good stop for a quick late night bite or something in your belly after a bit of bar hopping on 25th street! I'd say the best things about this place are the ambiance, late hours and low prices. The food is just ok! It's a little small but there's usually open seating and quick service from friendly staff. The place also has cozy, laid back vibes to enjoy your pizza with! The last I came I shared cheesy bread with a friend which was HUGE for the price! It's the same size as the pies!! I was shooketh. The taste was satisfying enough for a late night snack but there was a looot of grease on the thing. I soaked two napkins with each stick which is a little much for my taste but if you're into that more power to you! Another friend of mine had a margherita signature pie and said it was a little lacking but still good. Overall I wouldn't be opposed to coming here again, but I'd probably try something new first. 3/5 for the food but +1 for vibes and pricing.

Solid local pizza joint! We enjoyed the BBQ chicken pizza. Not our top pizza location, but we will go back once in a while.

Garlic knots

Came here for takeout during both COVID-19 and Cleveland Pizza Week. We ordered a sampling of dishes, to try things other than their pizza...garlic knots, wings, and a margherita pie. The pick-up process was easy and we were quickly on our way home with the goods. On to the food reviews! The margherita pie was just okay; the crust was chewy, cheese was decent but the sauce was rather bland making for a less-than-memorable bite. The garlic knots were really garlic bread twists served with a small cup of marinara sauce. I would have like to see a couple of things here. First, more garlic sauce! These twists were rather dry, so a bath in some oily sauce would have helped matters. Second, the marinara cup was cold! I guess we could have heated it up ourselves when we arrived home, but this came straight from a fridge into our to-go container and the already lukewarm knots did not take well to the chilled sauce. Lastly, the wings. Their wings are fried, and some of them were plump and huge! I like their texture and crunch of these wings, but the garlic parmesan seasoning was also rather bland. I added some of my own hot sauce just to give it something. Overall each dish was average at best, missing any kind of "special sauce / seasoning" to give the food a pop. Not sure it is worth a return visit for us, I am sorry to say.

Worst pizza ever. The margarita pizza had the tiniest pieces of basil, maybe eight , and there were spots missing sauce.

The pizza was pretty good. The prices were decent. The wait was not long and I was happy I could take into the bowling bar down the street.

Coming into the store there was a cute counter by the window if you did decide to sit inside and eat. We came all the way from Kent for the pizza and wanted to try a slice before we left for home so my boyfriend ate a slice in the parking lot really quick. An employee (possibly the owner) came out with napkins and offered us to sit inside. We declined as we had to leave but the man graciously went inside and brought us out cold water bottles for our drive home! It was such a thoughtful gesture. Now onto the pizza. It was delicious! We ordered a regular pepperoni pizza and the white Neapolitan style pizza. It wouldn't let me add pineapple to my pizza online, which was fine because it didn't need it, the pizza was so good! My boyfriend loved his pepperoni pizza and I also enjoyed my Neapolitan style white pizza. It had a great garlicky flavor and was crispy on the crust. Will definitely be back to try the margarita pizza next! So if you're looking for a great pizza with hospitality I recommend coming to Joe De's!

We ordered two small specialty pizzas and one extra-large pizza, all with pan crust. After placing our order, I overheard the kitchen mention they were out of pan crust, but no one informed us right away. When our two small pizzas arrived, I assumed the extra-large was still being prepared. When I asked about it, our server told me I had requested it to go, which I had not. To her credit, she tried to make things right by providing a pizza to take home, but the crusts and sizes were still not what we originally ordered. She also spent time explaining what was going on in the kitchen. Personally, I prefer when a problem is simply corrected rather than accompanied by excuses. In the end, I didn't eat much because I didn't care for the hand-tossed crust. To add to the disappointment, an automatic 20% gratuity was added to the bill, which was surprising and something I had never seen there before. Overall, this was not the experience I've come to expect from this restaurant. I'm not sure I'll be returning anytime soon.

If you check out my reviews, you'll see that I've sampled pizzas in more than one state and more than one country, including Italy. I've sampled many types of crusts and sauces. While the crust here is fine (not the best), the sauce is repulsive. My daughter said "Dad, this area is heavily populated with people from Eastern Bloc countries," to which I responded "If they like their pizza sweet, so be it. But I certainly don't." I understand that there are plenty of pizza styles, including the Greek version, which includes cinnamon on occasion. Yuck. This place is called Napoleon's Pizza, and they claim to conquer pretty much everything, from your pizza craving to the whole town of Parma. Indeed, Napoleon was an Italian dude who was born in France. His conquering skills were excellent, until his greed resulted in the deaths of thousands of soldiers who froze to death. All of that to say, I might've named this place Napoli's Pizza (since Napoli is the birthplace of the pizza we know today). But the sweet sauce here is an abomination, so maybe 'Napolean's' is more appropriate after all.

The food I ordered the anchovy margherita pizza and it was a solid 9.5/10. Easily one of the closest pizzas I've had in the U.S. to the authentic Roman-style pizzas I remember. The only minor criticism -- and honestly not really their fault -- was that the anchovies tasted slightly canned, giving a bit more fishiness than the fresh anchovies commonly used in Italy. The service One of the owners, Annie, felt like the Italian nonna welcoming you into her home. Warm, thoughtful, conversational and constantly making sure everyone was taken care of. That hospitality elevated the entire experience. The atmosphere The restaurant is smaller and lively, so it can get pretty loud, especially on a Saturday night. The music was a tad louder than I personally prefer, but I also think it helps balance out the constant buzz of conversation happening at every table. The wait My friend and I arrived around 6:30 PM on a Saturday and the wait was about an hour and a half -- which is wild for a pizza place, but also says everything about how popular it is. Worth it? If you're craving authentic Italian pizza, absolutely. Overall The food alone makes the noise and wait worthwhile, and the hospitality makes you want to come back. I'd absolutely return the next time I'm in Cleveland.

We opted for the arugula salad and rione salad for the table and the salads were honestly delicious. For pizza, we ordered the larger size sausage pie (red sauce, mozzarella, roasted peppers, sautéed onions, garlic and parmesan). Thin crust with a good bite that holds its integrity pretty decently. Overall, this os probably one of the better pizzas in Cleveland.

After a little trial and error, we finally figured out the pizza shop is actually inside a grocery store. Strange setup, but we eventually found it--and honestly, it was worth both the wait and the free scavenger hunt. The pizza itself was excellent. Great ratio of ingredients, not thin crust and not deep dish--soft in the center with a crispy, crunchy edge.
