My first time in Ohio and we stumbled upon this place on the corner of the street. It was pretty entry when we entered but there's plenty of seating. What's really nice was the backyard patio they had for extra seating so definitely come by on a nice day. For how big the place is, service was very attentive. We have enjoyed this restaurant for around 20 years when visiting Cleveland. After my mom had surgery, this is what she chose for her dinner to celebrate its success. The gnocchi in a blush sauce was phenomenal. Cavatelli bolognese was very flavorful and even better with meatballs. Wasn't a huge fan of the cheesy garlic bread. Lunch at Trattoria was incredible. My friend had suggested it and said it was her favorite place to eat in all of Cleveland but I was just a little skeptical seeing the reviews on Yelp. We sat inside (cute patio though!) and I loved the dark, cozy contemporary Italian vibes. Love that they had a gluten free menu and also specials. Basket of bread came promptly. I couldn't eat it but the tomato bruschetta topping was sooo good. We split a Cesar salad ($7), which was big enough to share. He got a margarita pizza with so much mozzarella on it, it was tasty. I got the gluten free penne with arrabiata sauce. Spicy, creamy, briny because of the olives, sooooo good. Our waiter (I think it was Reni) was attentive, gave us suggestions without being pushy and paced it all out nicely, just the perfect waiter, a real professional. Trattoria is my favorite Italian spot in little Italy. The food is good and the prices are affordable. I know people rave about Mia Bella, but Trattoria has food equally as good but the prices are cut in half. After a few months of just getting take out I decided to go in for dinner. The vibe has completely changed. They have better quality menus and place mats. They also have softer lighting. The food and service were still good. My only negative is that the portions were smaller, but as you can see that didn't stop me from eating everything . I split the chicken piccata and the cheese tortellini with my partner. Both amazing and flavorful. I also had the house salad with their peppercorn parmesan dressing. Which never disappoints. read more

One of my favorite restaurants when visiting Cleveland - go to Little Italy and eat here! Soon the patio will be opening, which is my favorite place to dine here. Bread and bruschetta to start. Fresh tomatoes and garlic. If you're not a fan of garlic, I'd pass, but if you're a garlic fan, you'll enjoy! I typically get the Chicken Parmigiana, which is absolutely delicious here. Two large chicken breasts lightly breaded in this delicious tomato sauce and a side of spaghetti. I decided to try something different this visit and went for the Chicken Marsala. Same generous serving in a sweet wine sauce. It was good, but a bit too sweet and heavy sauce for me. I will go back to my old favorite OR get their Chicken Piccata next time. I tried a bite of my friends and it was SO very good!! Light and fresh sauce - love that lemon and briney combination! Eggplant parm is one of the staples and this is the only thing my friend orders (though she may be swayed with the piccata next time). The eggplant parm is thinly sliced eggplant battered and cried and stacked on top of one another. A unique twist on a classic. Their meals are generous portions and worth every cent! Literally the kindest staff and amazing food. They opened their patio so we could eat with our dog instead of leaving her in the truck while our other was at MEDVET. They brought a meatball for our golden and a bowl of water. It was soooo nice on the patio even though it was mid May. No one else had patios open! Our food was delicious! My wife and I were in Cleveland for my surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. The night before surgery, we decided to head down to Little Italy and have a solid Italian meal. We came upon Trattoria and we were glad we did. The service at Trattoria is attentive, friendly and helpful. The menu had all the traditional Italian fare and the dining room gives you the feel of old school Italian fare. We were hungry and we were in the right place. My wife selected the spaghetti and meatballs. This is the measure of every Italian restaurant and my wife said that Trattoria passed with flying meatballs. I enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana, which I knew was going to be my last good meal for the next several days. It did not disappoint. The eggplant was perfectly cooked and was not drowned out by the sauce and cheese. In fact, both of us asked for a doggy bag before we started eating, as the portions are enormous. We knew we weren't going to make it through the entire entree. The side salads, the bread...everything that comes with a traditional Italian meal was spot on. Trattoria is an excellent option when you're in Little Italy. Next time, we will be able to sample the wine! read more

I grew up in Cleveland not too far from here. My parents would always take me here, so I have great memories of this place. We came back last weekend and it did not disappoint. Heck, just stop in to get a sniff od how amazing their food is. Service here is always friendly. The front of the house is a bar with some tables. The back of the house is their formal Dining room. Took my dad there for his birthday. I ordered the ribeye steak, and when the steak came out it looked more like a skirt steak than a ribeye. The service was bad, waiter was too busy behind the bar doing other things. Never asked if we needed more to drink. This is the first restaurant I dined at when I moved to Cleveland. The atmosphere was, and still is, relaxed and welcoming. It felt like going to a close friend or family members home for supper. I've loved coming here ever since, and it may be my favorite restaurant in Little Italy for that reason alone. Last night, my friends and I had a reservation for Trattoria and we had a wonderful time. Our server was extremely friendly and even with a group of around ten people, the service was quick. Our server (I think her name was Angie) not only took our order effectively but was also very personable, which definitely elevated our experience. Of course, the food is delicious. The pasta dishes are always a hit, served hot and with plenty to take home or share with friends. Every bite I stole from one of my friends' plates was amazing. I had never been sat on the lower floor before and even though there's not as much natural lighting down there, it is still well lit and has nice vibes. Man, I wanted to love it. I'm honestly surprised by all the 5 star reviews... I came in for a late lunch between appointments. Was greeted fairly quickly, but once I sat down it took about 10 minutes just to get water. I was actually given a cup of cheese before anything else was even on the table. Had to ask for bread 3 times, which seemed to be just white frozen loaf from Sysco. I ordered the Truffle Risotto with Scallops. The scallops seemed old, I wasn't even able to take a bite, and there was no sign of distinguishable "truffle" by look, smell, or taste. I have to say my server Candice did try to steer me towards the Lobster Ravioli, so once she noticed I wasn't picking much at my food, she readily offered to get me that dish instead. Once it came, I had a couple bites, but was still disappointed. Just tasted like frozen ravioli with an uninspired sauce. Why was there cubed chicken in my wedding soup? The ambience was appealing. But overall I spent 50 dollars to be disappointed, and then to top it off, the box they gave me for the leftovers was flimsy, with holes in it -- and the plastic bag also had holes in it, so the sauce got all over the seat of my car. read more

We had a reservation for a large party on a Saturday afternoon in July. Some of us had checked the menu beforehand to make ourselves familiar with what would be available. Turned out we got a limited menu, which eliminated any seafood. The party room has a portable air conditioner, but it was still almost unbearable hot. Our waiter seemed a little moody, another lady was supposedly helping cleaning up the table in between, it seemed she did not speak English. The food was good, but nothing that would be worth driving into this high traffic area with severe parking issues. I can get very good Italian food anywhere in the suburbs. There is valet parking, which was scary to watch how these cars have been parked so close, but the parking assistant was beyond great, he took very good care of our vehicles. read more
