Great vegan pizza. Great service. Friendly bar. Worth the trek from Rogers Park. We will be back.

Stopped in on a Sunday evening since not a whole lot is open in the area on Sunday evenings. The place was fairly empty so we grabbed a booth and went to the bar to order. We got mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings and a large inferno pizza. The mozzarella sticks were absolutely fantastic! The cheese pull was incredible, flavor was good and they were nicely crispy on the outside. The Buffalo wing sauce was very good, but the wings themselves were a bit overcooked and chewy. The pizza was very tasty with a lot of great ingredients, but was low on the cheese and flavor. We thought it would be spicy, but it wasn't even a little. We were a bit disappointed on that front. Also the ranch with the wings was very sub par, didn't taste homemade and if it was, it just wasn't great. read more

It was late Saturday night and I could hear Karaoke in the back room as I was waiting for my pizza slices to go. Either the pizza was good or I was starving. A crunchy, cracker style crust. It was very hard. We got a large pizza (which was VERY big) and it had spinach, ricotta, and sausage. It was a good pizza with the toppings but the crust was too hard to really enjoy, if you are looking for a crunchy pizza not a spongy pizza this is the place for you. We also got mozzarella sticks, they were good. Definitely recommend going inside to eat but it is not a place kids are allowed as it is a bar. The pizza took an hour to be done. read more

I would strongly recommend not going to Dante's if you want to eat in a timely manner or be treated halfway decent. We sat down, ordered and then waited for our food to come while we had a drink. Approximately 45 minutes later (after watching tables who had sat down and ordered after us get their food), one in our party went up to the bar was told our food would be seven more minutes because they were busy. The service and communication was rude and the staff doesn't seem to care about having repeat customers. I wish I could comment on the food, but we left because even after that "seven more minutes," the food never came and we left. Go somewhere else, you'll be better off! read more

Dante's is a dive bar. It's not your ordinary hole. This one also serves pizza, and it's vegan friendly too. Also wouldn't you know it, it's next to High Dive. Two dive bars in one. A typical dive bar this is not, for this is vegan friendly. It's actually not quite cheap enough to really be a dive bar, but it has fairly good prices for being around here. There's often specials. It's $6 for pints of some crafts. There's also cheap ass shit like Old Style and more. As for the pizza, it's a good deal. It's $6 for the daily vegan slice. This kind of pizza can be whatever. Also the slices are big. These are about twice the size of a normal slice. Also you can get whole pizzas, vegan or with regular meat and cheese. The whole pizzas are quite expensive at $20 or more, so that's why to get slices and save a lot. Good dive bar. It has one of the coolest bar menus. This is one of the few where you can get vegan food that's not just chips or pretzels. read more

We've lived close by for a few years and we finally gave it a try. It's definitely a dive - but most dives don't have food that's worth a damn. The pizza was delicious and not super heavy. I had the pepperoni and my wife had the vegan pepperoni. Both were very good. Service was very quick and responsive. Pizza, salad and 3 drinks for under $50. Big shout out to Melissa (I think that's her name) for the great service. We will definitely be back! read more

Recently did a pizza by the slice tour in my neighborhood of West Town and Dante's was the final stop on the tour. Pizza places only, cheese slices only, and it was all takeout. So the pizza from here was like... I assume NY style. We had it cut into smaller pieces so we could share. I'd say the pizza was.ok overall. The crust was very soggy /floppy. Not necessarily my jam. What I did like is the edges were much better and crispy and had some seasoning in it. The sauce and all was ok. Overall it was just ok pizza. One slice for $6 was a bit higher than the average, but pretty much in-line in terms of price. I haven't been there to dine in, but it is the closest of the group and seems like a good stop for drinks. Will give that a shot soon. read more

If you are looking for pizza, then this is NOT the place to get it. Before ordering I asked the girl how many slices come in the 20 inch and how big is their pizza? She told me 8 but she didn't tell me it was a Godzilla size pizza and I ordered two. Not only was it huge, it was salty and the crust was hard. I won't be ordering a pizza from here again. The double cheese burger I ordered was good but they didn't put any condiments on it and didn't ask if I needed any. Not to mention the bartender was rude when I walked in. I love this place but today really sunk the nail in the coffin. Ordered online for a pick up at 5:45 and it was instantly canceled so I called and he just told me it's grub hubs fault and they are too busy but if I want to re order I can. Well they already took the $85 out of my account for the TWO pies I ordered and it's now still pending my return. Really rude to just cancel an order and then be like oh sorry it's not my fault... Long story short is micro aggressions !! POC beware. And let me say this is my FIRST 1 star review. I'm always hesitant bc I know shit happens. But this shit is just incredibly irresponsible on Dante's side and the people deserve to know!! Long story : Wanted to find a new spot close to the house for a quick bite n drink before work. Food is decent. But vibes are weird. Walked in. Sat at the bar with my boyfriend. We were not carded at door or at bar. I ordered food n beer. He ordered food n a Shirley temple. Bartender took his card and kept the tab open for us. About halfway thru the meal, my boyfriend went to order a beer from a different bartender. Two bartenders and a bar back were all equally working behind bar. She went to go ring it up but for some reason came back and asked for his ID. She claimed it was bc she ids everyone but honestly it felt like she was tryna see if his card was going to match. It felt like racial profiling and we questioned why this was coming In the middle of our meal and to only him. She said everyone at the bar should be carded and this is what she does. We were clearly upset and my boyfriend declined the beer and she walked away. He did not show her his ID. He js 29yo and lives up the street. About 30 seconds after my bf ordered a shot from the bar back who happily went to pour it. Needless to say there are some gaping inconsistencies in their procedures which leave holes for biases and ultimately made us feel extremely upset and uncomfortable. This is unfortunate as we were hoping to find our new neighborhood bar. I explained to both bartenders that we were upset about the inconsistencies in our service and had to question Why that was so. We paid for our things and left. IMO bartender needs to come to terms with her own biases and micro aggressions and do the work to give fair service to all. Debating reaching out to mgmt but right now have a very sour taste in my mouth. Google reviews show similar experiences of poc feeling uncomfortable. read more

Manager on duty & bartender on Friday 10/26/24 were terrible. Forgetting who order what and on top of that tried charging me for additional items I NEVER ORDERED. Sad to say I'm never coming back after 10 years. And will discontinue recommending to others. read more

We are from NY and Dante's is in fact the closest thing to NY pizza. Crust was perfect, cheese and spices brought back that old NY Italian flavor. Service was pleasant, wait was as stated when we ordered. read more

Fantastic (and massive) pizza! We had a 20 inch with ricotta and sausage and it was phenomenal. The crust was a hero of the pie, really tasty with Italian seasoning. We will certainly be back. My one critical price is the blue cheese salad dressing was probably the worst dressing I've ever had lol. But still 5 stars! read more

I ordered a pizza through a third party app but their kitchen was closed when we got there. They were kind enough to not only refund us, but get us a bunch of slices of pizza! Super accommodating and friendly. Good vibes and attracts a cool crowd. Plus those slices of pizza were SO GOOD!
