    The Tenderizer and The Frenchie.

We came here after bar trivia and were delighted to have quick service, as we were starving. Food was delicious and filling!

If you ever thought you wanted to take a grilled cheese to another level, Cheesie's is that place! I think we had the Tenderizer and the Classic sandwich. And of course we had to get the fried pickles and the Loaded Tots as well. It opens earlier in the day but it's very chill bar & grill vibes. Order at the counter, find a table, and they bring your food to you.

The staff was fantastic - Amanda (bartender) and Jack (server/area guru) - and the food was delish! $10 for a Ketel One in Chicago?! So cheap!!! Must go!!!

Food is not very impressive at all but it is a late night spot so it's standard greasy boring drunk food. The burger was underwhelming, not much flavor or really anything that stands out. The tenderizer had barely any chicken in it and again not much flavor either, pretty bland. The balboa was the best of the three but thats not saying much. Would not go back but cant hate too much on the spot since it's obviously just a late night food spot after a night at the bar.

YUM! If you love a good grilled cheese you definitely need to try the sandwiches at Cheesie's. We had the tenderizer and the popper (which was my favorite btw) The bread is crispy and buttery which makes this sandwich so darn good. I recommend you try it with the tomato soup! Great combo. Their pizza puffs are also amazing! Lots of fillings and a soft pastry. Their chipotle sauce is the bomb! It's a unique restaurant, very chill with lots of rock music playing. They also have a lot of options for drinks which was nice! Would definitely recommend

Cheesie's Balboa was yummy and will not disappoint! Amanda was an awesome bartender! Will return to try more options.

Delicious sandwich! Amanda made us feel super welcome. Will visit again to try more yummy options!

I love this place. But I've been standing here for 20 minutes. None of the five employees barely acknowledge me and finally I asked for help and they said yeah almost ready and another 20 minutes. I don't understand it. They don't communicate well but they have a great product.

I've had a condo a block from this place for four years and have never gotten around to trying it. I'm glad I finally did. Food is terrific. I had a special of the month, the grill power sandwich, but I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches here. They're perfectly grilled, with perfectly melted cheese. I loved the spicy mayo that came with my sandwich. They're also great at cooking the tater tots, which were perfectly crispy. There's tableservice if you don't want it to go, and the service was fast and friendly. I'll be back.

Now- I love this place and I will still order again most likely but I just had to share the most baffling situation I have dealt with in a food service. I order the Grilled Cheese OG. Cheese and Bread, that's all I wanted. What I get instead? Spam, Pickles, Peppers, Mustard, and maybe Onion? After looking in the menu I can't see what the hell this sandwich is, and why on gods green earth anyone would eat this sandwich. To the employee who thought it was funny to give me this abomination of a sandwich I hope your pillows are soggy and your socks are moist until June 2032. The cheese fries and pickles I got were delicious though, so not all hope was lost :)

We went here cause a friend wanted to go here. He used to live in Chicago and remembered this place being awesome! And we LOVE grilled cheese and tomato soup! It was a bit of a disappointment...the soup was kind of bland and the grilled cheese was just way too greasy.

The absolutely perfect late-night spot to go with friends after a night out. At 2am, I promise you, nothing will quite hit like a Cheesie's grilled cheese-- from the loud, crisp crunch of the bread to the warm, gooey melt of the cheese. All the sandwiches on the menu are creative and interesting. I got the Caprese Sandwich (mozzarella, tomatoes, basil on sourdough) which comes with a delicious creamy pesto mayo dipping sauce. It was really good-- piping hot, crispy, buttery, and melted perfectly. My friends tried the OG, the Mac, and the Balboa, and they each enjoyed them. The prices are not bad, but a bit high for what it is (a grilled cheese). The late-night ambience is dark, fun, and pretty loud and boisterous. The staff, from the security guard to the servers, were all really nice-- quite a feat for likely having to deal with inebriated people all night. I'd be curious to try this place during normal day time hours, though I'm not sure if I would readily choose to, as my stomach was honestly also feeling a bit queasy by the time I finished my last sandwich half. -- Price (relative to peers): 4/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4.5/5 Overall Value: 4.2/5

The mushroom and kale pie was nice and cheesy and the rocking vegan pie was more savoury, with a variety of vegetables and chickpeas as stuffing. The crust was neither too soft nor too crunchy. The highlight of the meal was the curry chips: potato wedges lightly fried with masala and curry leaves. The dipping sauce that came with the chips reminded me of tikka masala sauce, and paired beautifully with the chips. Dessert was toffee pudding: the caramel sauce that came with the pudding was delectable - the pudding itself was excellent and not overly sweet. We tried a variety of NA beers, and I was pleased with how many options they had. Service was quick, and we were well looked after. The ambiance is warm, with dim-ish lighting and a lot of dark wood. The restrooms were gorgeous - special shoutout to the lovely floral wallpaper. Overall, I highly recommend Pleasant House - the vibe is chill and understated and the food is stellar.

The sausage was very tasty, the breading on the outside was incredibly crisp, light, and the egg inside was cooked well. Both the steak pie and the chicken pie were very good. The chicken pie I think really needed the chutney that you can get separately. But that made it so much better and made it my preferred pie. The steak and ale pie was better than the chicken pie as a standalone, but needed a bit more gravy I think to elevate it. Sticky toffee pudding again was delicious. Surprisingly light, not overly dense so I was glad it came with the custard which was very flavorful. Overall, will definitely return!

The decor is straight from the 60s or 70s. The menu has something for everyone from ribs to prime rib to burgers. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The food was good. Our only one issue is the waiter told us the lamb chop special was gone so my husband ordered the pork chops but what was served were lamb chops. He ate them so we didn't say anything to the waiter but it was strange because the bill listed lamb chops not pork chops. Maybe they weren't gone after all? Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was also lukewarm, although the fries were piping hot. We've been here many times before, especially during the holidays, and it has never disappointed us. Amazing that fun isn't always beers and chugging. The food is actually good and can be talked about in reviews because some people actually come here to eat, which tells you how they actually have a kitchen. Believe everything is good here but we came for the beers of course. It's certainly the main product made here so why wouldn't it be important. They make more than you can believe which is impressive because there's all kinds of crowds who pass through. For sure everyone wants beer. It's $6 a pint at happy hour. Pretty great for craft beers compared to lots of places it seems. Best one we got was the Bucket Hat. This is a Belgian style witbier. Has notes of bubble gum, coriander, and orange. The food isn't an afterthought so get some of that. It's about $18 for a burger. Vegans have options. Certainly one of these is the Veggie Burger. This is an amazing thing with a spinach patty topped with chipotle tomato marmalade, cremini mushrooms, mixed greens, pickled red onions, and sweet potatoes. All on a fluffy ciabatta bun. The rest of the menu contains meaty stuff. For sure it feels like a place for the hipsters but it's pretty great for anyone. Pro Tip: if you can tolerate a large quantity of fish, visit on a Wednesday for their AYCE Fish & Chips. I've had many hum drum AYCE dinners that are drab and only fill you up. Not this one. It's a great meal and a great deal. The Shepherd's Pie was fabulous, as was the Bangers and Mash. They've created a Haggis Burger that has to appease Americans, yet, still be haggis.
