    Beef soon tofu

Beef soon tofu soup needed kimchi and more salt; Galbi was super tender fell off the bone but too sweet; Side dishes were decent, the green beans were the best. Packed nicely and gave me a bag of chips thx

How have I seriously not updated my review for this place yet? I've been eating here about twice a week since they opened! This spot is pure magic--everything is made with love, and you can absolutely taste it. The food is bursting with authentic Korean flavors, just like a homemade meal. Now, I'm not Korean (clearly!), but it reminds me so much of my friend's mom's cooking, and that's saying something. I lived in Korea for two years and it's everything I miss and love. I'm obsessed with the variety of kimbap they offer, especially for lunch--it's always fresh and delicious. And the small bap bowl? Absolute perfection for someone like me who loves a hearty, satisfying meal without going overboard. If you haven't tried this place yet, you're seriously missing out. FYI- it's pick up and delivery only. Order online and it's usually ready within 15-20 minutes to be picked up :)

I ordered fried dumplings and the glass noodles with beef bulgogi. The food was delicious and it was fast service. I ordered delivery through DoorDash. 10/10 takeout recommendation.

New place that opened near my friend so we tried out their take out. There was so much food so definitely a good place for quantity! Decent Korean food and glad they joined the neighborhood.

Recently moved from the palisades park/fort Lee area and I have been missing my Korean/asian food. So glad I gave this place a shot. Did not disappoint

I ordered for delivery, so I'm not sure about the service or ambiance. I really enjoyed my bibimbap. The portions are really big. We got one beef bulgogi and one veggie. The beef was perfectly seasoned. The sauce they had on the side was a great portion and went really well with the dish. We also got dumplings that were crispy. I wish they were seasoned better.

I don't normally write reviews but since DAON Korean Cuisine is a newcomer to Union City and the food I just had was incredible - I want to make sure to give them a shoutout and hopefully put some people on. I ordered the Spicy Pork Jaeyook Ssam and Tteokbokki. Both were amazing - nice and spicy, the lettuce and banchan were fresh and crispy. I've never been a huge fan of fish cakes and was worried the Tteokbokki would taste fishy but it was complex and spicy. They also sent along a small side dish of a delicious potato salad with super crunchy apples. Really appreciated how quickly the food was ready and how it all tasted homemade. Portions of food were generous for reasonable prices - shared with my partner and still have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Excited to have Korean takeout in Union City! Note: they work out of a ghost kitchen along with several other digital food establishments. So no eat-in options but please support your small local businesses!

They put the raw egg in the soup and it is not even cooked.

The galbi-jjim was perfectly tender like I could literally pull it apart with my chopstick. The addition of the rice cake, pumpkin, and pyogo mushroom were a nice touch. The soy sauce base was a little sweet and if you take a bit and pour it over the mushroom sotbap, it is soooooooo good!!!!!!! The mushroom sotbap is so umami. There is foie gras in it which maybe be in a little overpowering for some people but I really enjoyed it I could easily eat a whole bowl of their freshly made kimchi. It was perfect. Not too salty or spicy or fermented. Literally perfect!!! I actually asked for seconds. The cold cucumber broth was really refreshing Highly, highly recommend making a resy!! The only thing that I thought was a bit of a shame is that there's a $10 cake cutting service PER PERSON, if you wanted to celebrate a birthday. We got their fried chicken, beef tartare, 2 galbi jjim, and their bossam. Everything was phenomenal. While I think we could've skipped the chicken, the galbi jjim is a must-try. Cocktails are also great here. Amazing dining experience, food, ambiance, service, and I highly recommend.

The open kitchen offers a transparent stage for the chefs' craft, adding a sense of immediacy and authenticity to the experience. The seven-course tasting menu unfolds with thoughtful progression, each dish presenting a distinct identity while maintaining harmonious balance. Flavors are nuanced yet expressive, textures deliberate, and presentation restrained but elegant. The meal builds anticipation course by course, culminating in a dining experience that feels both composed and inspired. Though the setting carries the casual ambiance of an open food court, the cuisine itself possesses the refinement and depth of a dedicated fine dining establishment. In a more intimate standalone setting, this would undoubtedly be a destination I would return to frequently.

Ddobar has been on my radar for some time but took a while to visit simply because I do not work nor live in the city. The few times I was in the city and tried to book, it was either closed for the day or booked up for a private event. Finally the stars aligned and I made it. Unfortunately by then they no longer offer the chef studio tasting menu for $135, only the yubu tart tasting menu for $75 per person. The chef assured me that they kept many of the most popular items on the smaller menu. Now I'm just going to straight out say this was one of the best meals I have had in my life. Not only was it delicious but incredibly unique. A true standout. Every course was also beautiful presented and just felt so elevated. Truly the art of a Michelin star chef. I forgot that I was sitting in a food hall. LOL. I left incredibly full and floating through cloud nine. Sadly they did not have the earl grey soft serve which was what caught my eye to this establishment in the first place. I may have to find an excuse to come back soon! It is unfortunate but I was told the tasting menu will be gone end of March as the chefs sounds like they will be venturing out to different projects elsewhere. Go while you still can and show them some love!

We walked into a stylish but relaxed space that feels suited for both casual dinners and a night out with friends, with an atmosphere that balances energy and comfort well. The room gets lively when it fills up, but the noise level adds to the experience rather than detracting from it, making it feel like a place built for sharing and conversation. The food is where Hojokban stands out. The complimentary banchan sets the tone for the meal with flavorful sides that add variety before the main dishes arrive, each one thoughtfully prepared and offering a different texture or flavor profile. The gomtang soup is one of the more comforting options, bringing together tender meat, a rich broth, and classic Korean flavors in a way that feels hearty without being overly heavy. The galbi dishes are also a highlight, with the meat cooked well and carrying the sweet and savory balance that makes Korean-style grilled beef so enjoyable. The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is noticeable across the board. The menu has several unique dishes worth exploring. The truffle potato pancake is one of the more memorable items, combining a familiar Korean staple with a richer, modern twist that adds depth without losing the essence of the original. The perilla oil noodles are another standout, offering a lighter but still flavorful option with a distinct nutty aroma that lingers on the palate. The beef tartare adds a more refined element to the meal, fresh and well seasoned, while dishes like the ramyun fried rice bring a fun comfort food element with bold, savory flavors. Together, the menu covers enough ground that you can build a meal around both familiar favorites and more creative choices. Service is friendly and the overall experience feels welcoming rather than overly formal. The staff are attentive without hovering, and they handle the busy flow of the restaurant with a pace that keeps the meal moving without feeling rushed. The menu is designed for sharing, and the portions make it easy to order several dishes across the table, allowing you to try more of what the kitchen has to offer. The lively atmosphere adds to the meal, making it a good fit for group dinners where the energy of the room matches the pace of the food. Hojokban does a good job blending traditional Korean flavors with a more modern dining experience. It is a place where you can come for familiar comfort food while still finding dishes that feel creative and different. If you enjoy Korean cuisine and want a restaurant with a little more personality, this is a spot worth checking out. It delivers a meal that feels both familiar and fresh, striking a balance that makes it easy to return to and explore more of the menu.
