There's a few beautiful plants. Inside you will be invited to the fresh food and the "best Bacon Egg and Cheese in NYC ". Haha There's always a steady stream of customers, you get fast service. Just Line up to the rear of the deli counter and place your order. I am received at the register by the intelligent business minded employee. (He may be the owner.) I was hungry, and this deli was here. After some deliberation, I decided to order Da Gooch which is a grilled chicken/roasted pepper/balsamic concoction that is simultaneously named after my favorite elementary school bus driver (he called us all his angels) and an unsavory part of the body. The sandwich was more bus driver than body part, and I mean that in the nicest of ways. It was solid, affordable, and exactly what I expected. Pretty good deli, one of the best I've found in the neighborhood. They have a nice selection of chips and little snack items and the heroes are also enjoyable. The bread is always fresh and they allow for any modifications you want to the sandwiches in terms of toppings. It also isn't too expensive; a lot of the heroes are in the $8-$10 range which is pretty good for the UES. Only thing I would say is that the amount of meat and toppings on the sandwiches is sometimes a bit underwhelming, I wish they'd pack the sandwich just a bit more. The last time I was in there, there were like 4 onion slices spread out across my entire hero. read more

I came to Good for Life Gourmet Deli for a quick lunch. The supermarket/deli is fairly bare bones, with a few aisles of market goods and metallic walls. Staff were relatively friendly and accommodating. Oddly enough, adding lettuce and tomato to each sandwich is an additional $0.50. My turkey sandwich was unfortunately very average. The rye bread was slightly stale. The turkey itself was on the drier end as well, leaving me parched and dissatisfied. This place was a convenient spot to grab a quick lunch. Great little deli stop on the way out for the day. Lots of options for breakfast and lunch including a TON of vegetation choices! Ohhhhh baby, am I satisfied. I had a hankering for a sandwich larger than my mouth is wide, preferably of the club sort. After seeing that another nearby deli charges $24 for a triple decker club (major side-eye towards you, Pastrami Queen...) I decided to try this place. I'm sad now that I have lived for 3 months 1 block from this place & haven't been, I've missed out on so many days to have their sandwiches!!! Turkey club is excellent and huge. Not giving 5 stars because 1) the menu board says that hero sandwiches include a pickle, which I did not receive & 2) they "had" to charge me a 3% fee for me to use a debit card...pretty sure I've read that's illegal, but w/e. We came in one Friday afternoon to grab 2 sandwiches to bring to the park for a picnic. We got an Italian combo and what is known in Westchester County as a "Clucken Russian". Both were delicious and fresh. Hot foods looked fresh and great. Only thing that knocked a star off for me was that we waited maybe 5 minutes for an employee to take our sandwich order when there were no other customers in the store. Surprised this place does not have a review yet. This place is right around the corner of my office and it opened around 1 month ago. Since it's opening i went there over 10 times. It feels clean and great value for your money. During the weekdays they have good prepared food, cost $6 for a pound (extremely good deal) and you get water or soda with it. Cheaper than most places around. 2 - Before the put in the iced coffee, they melt the sugar with a squirt of hot coffee. The quality-to-cost ratio is bar none the best I've come across so far after looking for an affordable lunch over the past few weeks. I usually go for a wrap ($7), which you can either make yourself or choose from a couple of creative combos they have on their menu. The guys behind the counter are prompt and affable... you can't go wrong here. Maybe I'm just thrilled with the fact that I can get real meat on a hero after spending too many days at Subway, but I love this place. It's a pleasure to be a patron here. read more

They took over for another deli in the same location. What a difference. They did a total renovation and the place looks/feels brand new. The staff is super friendly and the food is very good/ better than the standard deli fare. They'll make almost any type of sandwich you want for $6.95 and you get a free soda. Breakfast is great there. Lots of bagels, fresh bacon and great iced coffee. Never a giant line (which is nice when you want to avoid the zoo that H&H bagels becomes on weekend mornings) and usually quick/great service. It's also 24 hours. Went here to grab a bite for lunch on a weekday. It was a little past lunch hour so there was no wait--though I did have to grab cash since the credit card limit is $10, which isn't great. For my meal, I decided to go with the corned beef, swiss, cole slaw, and russian dressing on a hero. The sandwich was a decent size, but nothing crazy huge like some people have claimed. In addition, the flavor of the sandwich was very average as the coleslaw and russian dressing combo didn't do much to add flavor. Overall, this place isn't bad, there are just much better bodegas around the area for the same price. read more

This is the by far the best deli that I found in New York City so far. I live right about this place and come down here and get coffee every day and on the weekends I'm always good for a breakfast sandwich bacon egg and cheese on a roll or wrap. The best part about this place in my have the best breakfast in town for the cheapest price in town. Good for Life is good for a quick, freshly made breakfast like a giant California omelet (eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, avocado) or a bagel sandwich. The $10 credit card minimum is a little annoying because my breakfast is usually below $10. But I shouldn't really complain about that, since it's pretty awesome to have such a solid breakfast for two for under $10. read more

This place is one of my favorite Deli's on the Upper East Side. I always get my breakfast from them and also lunch as I work in the area.
