Again I am pleased to express how FABULOUS this UES eatery & grocery shop is! The best grilled cheese sandwich I ever had anywhere each and every time I order it from here and I love the provolone grilled cheese on whole wheat in particular, but I've had the mozzarella and Swiss cheese also. The hamburgers ought to die for, so delicious and huge! The sweet potato fries were yummy tonight! And so many other items there are delicious such as their Panini's and wraps and salads that I've also enjoyed and not to forget the Amazing manager, ALI !!! so very kind, patient, helpful often taking the orders and everyone on the phone very kind. Even if you live in the village, you are lucky enough to have Heavenly market near you because I used to live in the village, and I had two heavenly markets within blocks from my NYU residence! It was great down there and it's great up here also! They also have a fabulous pasta and pizza place nearby on the UES. So whether you are just passing by or wanting to order something to your residence, don't hesitate! It is fabulous! And this is not my first five star review for them! I could not for the life of me figure out why after being in business for several years, the staff randomly decided to glue a few quarters down on the counter. I didn't think much of it. And then one day I was paying for my food and was a couple cents short. I reached down to instinctively grab what I thought was a loose quarter, and everyone behind the counter broke out laughing. I guess the joke is on me? Seems like an odd way to honor your customers. Aside from the weird quarter prank, this is your classic overpriced UES deli. Expect mediocre food, declining portions, and fairly rude staff (especially at night). It's a real shame, this place was a once a highly respected butcher shop. read more

The Combo Panini 9.48/10- this was heavenly, the sandwich was very fresh and they also put it on the grill to melt the cheese. Comes with pastrami corned beef, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and house dressing. They put a lot of pastrami which I liked and it gave the sandwich a smoky flavor to it with a hint of spice. They are excellent bagels made in Brooklyn and brought to 88th street and York Avenue in Manhattan. Upper East Side. This is probably the best bagel I ever had and I grew up in NyC and ate thousands of bagels here and all over the US. The bagels in NYC are in my opinion the best. Their bagels are Chewy and fluffy and soft and shiny crisp outer cover...Like heaven. And for $1.41 per bagel it's a good solid deal bc they are plush and filling. I ate it plain bc I couldn't wait for cream cheese and other stuff to put on it. I will dress my next bagel w white fish and cream cheese. But even eating it with nothing tastes amazing. Very friendly spot ! Heavenly Food Market will sparkle a bubble for you. It is the old spot of the Gramercy Food Market (may bring back a key of your memories). It is across the street from Club Pilates and nearby to the Gramercy House. A very friendly M.A. referred me here. It has fresh deli/salad food ready for you. Heavenly Market 1692 York is a short walk from my apartment. I had a good experience at the new location so I thought I would visit here for lunch. I noticed two benches out front. I figured I could deal with that and sit with my lunch. As soon as I looked at the door I saw the huge NO PETS sign. The other Heavenly Market has the same sign. Both establishments DO NOT enforce it. Sure enough there was a dog blocking the entrance (see photo). I saw that the place is long and narrow giving me the indication there wasn't seating inside. I waited a while then squeezing in made my way to the back. There was an employee stocking high shelves. He looked like a workman's comp case waiting to happen!! From what I could see this place needs to close and everyone go a block down York to the new location. I will say the man behind the counter was very nice. I just felt cramped and uncomfortable. People were crowding in the front. I again squeezed by to exit only to find I couldn't figure out how to open the door. There wasn't any handle on the inside. I asked a customer and he reached over and pushed the door open. I guess I should have figured it out. I've never seen a door without a handle unless it's an automatic sliding door. I'm giving this place one star for the friendly employee and one for the salad section. Will I return? No way! This small place can go to the dogs. read more

I was staying at my friend's place in Upper East Side on a recent visit and was working from her apartment. I thankfully found saw Heavenly Market down the street, as it was the perfect lunch spot! Well, to be fair, I actually ended up eating at Heavenly Market for a breakfast, lunch, and a dinner over the visit - can't beat the convenience of this deli! The first visit yielded two slices of pizza (one cheese, one pepperoni) for a quick lunch. The price was decent (each slice was a couple dollars) and the guy behind the counter wrapped them like a pro - made it home without a single bit of grease transfer out of the bag! The pizza itself was very tasty and filling, especially for the price point. They also have a great selection of bottled beverages. The next day, my friend and I stopped in for breakfast sandwiches. They had a surprisingly wide range of options (honestly a theme with them - for such small shops, the menu is LARGE), and I got one with eggs and cheese on an everything bagel. DELICIOUS. The eggs were fluffy, the cheese was melty, and the bagel was top notch. Also, the price was very welcome (like $4 I think) in a city as expensive as New York. The last stop at Heavenly Market was for a quick bite before leaving the city. I got a salad and a sandwich, which ended up being too much food, because I hadn't realized how generous the portions were! The salad would have been enough for its own meal for sure. I got the caesar salad, which was very yummy (the dressing was pretty anchovy-forward though, so if that's not your deal, maybe pick one of their other salads). I also got, on my friend's recommendation, a Philly cheese steak sandwich, which was very good, not to mention filling. The ambience inside isn't anything to write home about, but there is some seating (though I only did takeout) and everything was clean. Service was fast and polite. One of my fave bodega delis in the neighborhood! Gotta love a sandwich wrap deal where you also get chips and a can of soda for less than $10! They have a really nice selection of wraps to choose them, and they don't skimp on the ingredients. On a nice day it's a perfect meal to pick up and head over to a bench by the water near Gracie Mansion and enjoy with a great view. All in all, their food is the same stuff you'd find at a bodega or grocery, but with exponentially higher prices. Nice addition to the neighborhood. I believe it just opened last week. This market offers up fresh sandwiches and wraps as well as fresh squeezed juices - all made to order. Full selection of regular drinks and snacks also line the walls. Like any new place, the employees need to get through some growing pains, but i feel once everyone gets used to the daily grind this will be a regular stop for take out breakfast/lunch in the area. I ordered a cheese omelette with breakfast potatoes and an Acai bowl. The cheese omelette was really good it had a lot of cheese in it, they weren't cheap with the cheese. They gave me hash browns instead of breakfast potatoes but that's fine with me. The Acai bowl however wasn't good. It was really small and sour. I didn't really care for it. Decided to stop in, in-person, tonight. Really nice-looking place. The guys behind the counter really are super friendly. The place actually looked really clean and the salad items were all fresh. The sandwiches they still had sitting out looked good, so I'll have to try one of those next time. They have a bunch of other candies, drinks, snacks, etc if you're in need. I ended up getting a chef salad and they had some unadvertised special where I got a free can of soda. What a deal. Grabbed one of their cookies too.
