Members Tasting Weekend Aug. 29, 2026
    Alice-Anne A.

We planned our anniversary getaway to Paso Robles a few months in advance and noticed our weekend happened to be a members-only event at DAOU. Since it was high on our list, we joined the wine club and reserved our tasting ahead of time, and we are so glad we did! This ended up being one of our favorite California wine-tasting experiences we've had in Santa Barbara, Monterey, Temecula, or Paso Robles. The setting atop DAOU Mountain is absolutely gorgeous, with vineyards, flowers, rolling hills, and incredible views. Despite being a large winery, the thoughtfully spaced reservations and seating made the experience feel intimate and relaxed. We enjoyed a delicious wood-fired Margherita pizza along with a flight of wines ranging from rosé and Sauvignon Blanc to the Cabernet Sauvignons and Bordeaux-style reds that DAOU does exceptionally well. Carly was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, as was everyone we encountered. Our membership already felt well worth it with two complimentary $50 tastings, the pizza, and the ability to customize our wine allocations. Phenomenal wines, beautiful ambiance, and wonderful service. We will absolutely return! Highly recommend reserving your tasting well in advance, especially for weekends and special events!

We did not have a reservation but decided to test our luck. Upon checking in at the gate, Stacey was SO kind and called up to see if we would be accommodated, luckily they had a table! We were greeted and handed our first tasting on the way to our seats. Our educator, Jasmine, introduced herself and was so friendly and personable. She walked us through each tasting and made great recommendations. We can thank her enough for her time and friendliness! 100% recommend. Bonus points for the residential kitties!

I went here because I enjoyed every Cabernet I've ever had from Paso Robles... with one exception... DAOU! And I wanted to find out why... And after a drive that reminded me of the beginning of "The Shining" with all of the winding roads, I arrived, sat down overlooking the valley, and told my wine guy flat out what I started this review with. He was slightly taken aback and treated me with a "let's change your mind" attitude. As I waited for my first sample, I couldn't help but notice the view. It was the best view of all of the wineries I've visited and based on the other reviews, I'm not wrong. They used their plot of land well to Wow their guests... I sampled quite a few wines and liked a lot of them. The ones here are apparently different than the DAOU that's in most stores and restaurants. That's a shame actually... I was here in the morning so it was freezing cold out. I'd recommend for a morning tasting, bring a jacket or something (I was there in May). But as the morning neared its end, the sun warmed things up. My wine guy brought some crackers also as I was feeling a bit queasy from guzzling wine so early. Nice touch and prevented the hallways from looking like "The Shining" too. I also enjoyed watching and playing with Cheetoh, the cat who hung around the outside. He was pretty chill and friendly. He followed my wine guy around and let me pet him (the cat, not the wine guy). I'm glad I went and was upfront about why I was there. I think he appreciated it too and he did change my mind about DAOU. I get that it's a business so you gotta sell to the masses, but make some of these others available to us common folk. If I'm ever in Paso Robles again, I'm making sure to make a reservation here and get one of those wood fired pizzas! And maybe they'll take my idea and make a Lizzie Bordeaux! What's up with my macabre mind today...

Beautiful area for a wine tasting

Had a wine tasting here the other day to celebrate a special anniversary and had a fabulous time! Taylor was our guide and was knowledgeable, personable, and so sweet! The wines themself are fabulous at DAOU, we went home with a Pinot and a reserve Rosé. The property itself is absolutely stunning with gorgeous views of Paso Robles. A bonus at this winery is they offer quite a few food options which was great as we had just drove about 4 hours from LA and were starving. The Margherita pizza did not disappoint and was made in the outdoor pizza oven. I can't recommend DAOU enough for a tasting in a magical setting. We'll definitely be back!

We had a great time visiting the Daou winery in Paso Robles. The views are spectacular and once we were seated, we felt relaxed and taken care of. We had a choice of a $50 tasting, which would be waived with purchase of 2 bottles. Instead, we each opted for the $95 tasting experience. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The plate included a small steak, lobster roll and lamb chop. The chocolate dessert really hit the spot. We enjoyed tasting the different wines. We ended up purchasing a cab to save for a special occasion a few years from now. Definitely make reservations online before going.

This was our second visit to DAOU, and it was just as incredible as the first. The views are absolutely stunning and easily some of the best in the region. The wines are consistently excellent, and the overall experience feels elevated yet welcoming. Our server, Reuben, was kind, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations that made our tasting even better. The hospitality stood out just as much as the wine itself. There's truly nothing like the views at DAOU--we'll continue to come back every time we're in town.

Really lovely vineyard in Paso Robles. Stunning views of the mountains with really great wine. The seating areas are extremely pleasant, and paired perfectly with the flight of wine we had. No complaints whatsoever, would for sure recommend!

Without a doubt, the best winery we've visited, I highly recommend making a reservation at least a month in advance. As members of this winery, we receive two complimentary tastings per month, so we only paid for the two salads and the tastings were included. The salad was simply delicious, with a great portion size -- definitely a 10/10. The service was excellent. Our server carefully explained each of the five wines we tasted while we enjoyed the peaceful and beautiful mountain views. We will definitely be returning, and this winery will always be one of our top choices before any winery in Napa Valley.

Elika Was superb; knowledgeable, friendly and on pointe. The best service bar none in Paso!! Don't miss Daou.

Daou vineyards is extraordinary! The scenic view, the great service, the delicious food....everything went beyond our expectations. We had such a blast visiting. It was the first vineyard we visited in Paso Robles and set the bar pretty high! No other vineyard compared. The landscaping is beautiful. Great place for photo opportunities.

Carlee was amazing !! Great personal and friendly service. I would definitely come back . Scenery is phenomenal. Beautiful views . And wines are super. I tried a Sauvignon blanc and it was superb. I'm using a fan of it, but this one was good. They have a merlot/cab blend worth checking out. Also, you must have a reservation to get in .

WOW. That was the first thing out of our mouths walking into this vineyard and it never once left. Our afternoon at Daou felt like a slice of heaven. The views are to die for, the breeze is lovely at the top of the hill, and everything from the ice cold water to your never empty glasses are a sign of excellent service. The food menu was also delicious -- we picked up a pizza and the chocolate dessert. We were so impressed, we left with 4 bottles... it's just basic math with the tasting fee waived ;) Also vowed to be back to sign up for a membership on our next visit. We can't wait for our second visit!

    Eleena H.

Wow! Carly's attentiveness, bubbly personality and humor truly separated our winery experience from the others. The crudité plate is a MUST have. I will be finding those peppers that paired perfectly with the sav blanc. We will be back!

Ask the Community - DAOU Vineyards

    Do they allow dogs?

We brought our 30lb poodle mix and he was a perfect gentleman as well as the other well behaved dogs we encountered.

With reservations for tasting, is there a tour of the estate?

Not that l know of but l am sure it could be arranged. I have never seen a more beautiful vineyard!

Does Daou have charging stations for electric vehicles?

    Negative

When it comes to the food menu, do you offer vegan options?

If we make reservations for tasting, can some of us opt out and just get a glass of something?

I believe so. Not everyone in the party has to taste

If you have reservations booked with a group of friends and someone doesn't drink is that okay?

Yes! I believe the reservation is mainly for seating purposes.... I reserved for my family of 4 which is 2 adults and 2 kids. We only paid for 2 tastings.

Can I walk in just buy some wine? Reservations are booked :(

From what I just learned today, the answer is no. I just called and asked that same question and was told, if you come by 1st thing when they open, maybe, but during the day, they will most likely be to busy to serve you!

It said close at 5pm. Our reservation is at 4:30pm, can we stay longer?

They didn't rush us out but we didn't stay more than 15 min past 5. Most people had cleared out. I can say maybe two more parties were still there once we decided to leave.

Can we stop by and do a tasting or is it absolutely only by reservation? They are all sold out today. :(

Reservations only! They are always booked in advance. I've gone 3 times this year and book a months well in advance. So sorry :(

How do I make reservations for just dining? On your RSVP page it have tasting and dining combine.…

The $45/pp is just for the wine tasting. I don't know if you can make reservations just for dining. Their menu for food options changes seasonally During our most recent visit…

    Do you have lunch?

They do have lunch food there

Hi! Do I need to make reservations for wine tasting?

Definitely yes! I know they've had limited spaces with Covid. When I went we booked 3 weeks in advance!

Do they have the spray mist to make it feel more comfortable in this heat?

I believe so. The patio is pretty nicely shaded

Do they allow you to bring your own picnic?

No, but they do have a full service kitchen

Do I need to make reservations or is walk-in ok? There are going to be 4 of us

Highly recommend it. It's a very popular location.

Are babies/ kids allowed? Planning a trip but baby has to come with, checking to see before we make reservations

    Yes , we went with a 2 1/2 and a 4 year old . Reserved a table outside.

Can you bring your own picnic/snacks?

They have a great varieties to go with their wines. WHY bring your own?

    Are kids welcome?

Yes they are welcome. Its a beautiful restaurant too

What is the price for wine tasting?

I think the one we selected was about $20 each but they have different tastings you can choose from. Also you can just share one. Tip: look for a coupon at a nearest hotel

Unfortunately, it ended up being a bit disappointing for me. The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing, and it wasn't loud at all, which made it easy to sit back and enjoy a conversation with my husband at a comfortable volume. The setting itself was great! Unfortunately, the food was a letdown. We ordered a $24 pizza that had virtually no flavor. The sauce was plain, the cheese was tasteless, and overall, it mostly tasted like plain dough. For me, it was especially disappointing because this was our first stop to kick off our vacation. That said, my husband really enjoyed the lamb, so there was at least one dish that stood out for him. Our waiter was great very kind and understanding and he was nice enough to remove the pizza from our check without any hesitation. I truly appreciated the customer service. Overall, the beautiful setting, relaxing atmosphere, and great service were positives, but I really hope the kitchen works on adding more flavor and seasoning to their pizzas. Attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being pretentious...she just gets it. If you're looking for a place that pairs excellent wine with warmth and authenticity, this is it. We love you guys!
