Darbys is one of our favorite restaurants when we're up in Showlow/Pinetop. They always have consistent quality of food. My husband and our two boys love the burgers. Sometimes they even get them for breakfast! Everything I've had on the menu is pretty good. Our favs are like the green chili biscuits and gravy, crêpes and of course The burgers. read more

As one of the many people who travel with their well behaved dogs I hope to encourage Darbi's to rethink their "no dogs" policy on their patio. We are willing to spend a lot of money on a wonderful breakfast or lunch and as they have the best menu anywhere around we are sad to be excluded from enjoying. I hope other pet owners will also encourage them to change their minds on this policy. Show Low is getting most of our dining business as a result. read more

Got to try out Darbi's cafe during a weekend escape from the Phoenix heat. A group of us went around 9 AM on a Sunday morning, and the restaurant was busy and bustling. After waiting about 20 minutes, our table was ready and we got to sit on the patio which was perfect. Our waitress was very attentive and coffee refills were offered numerous times throughout breakfast. Our food came out pretty quickly. Overall, everything was fanatic, fresh, and reasonably priced. The portions were also enormous! Overall, a great local spot that is run well and serves solid food. read more

We stayed at the white mountain cabins behind the restaurant. It was a convenient location and we were ready for dinner after our 8 hour drive from SoCal. I ordered several things off the menu and spent $85, I should have showed them my key from the room for 10% discount but the lady at the counter was grumpy and I was inconveniencing her with paying for my food I guess. I think the area has some abrasive personalities, from my other interactions but I didn't go enough places. Jessica though, bless her heart for taking my order before she left, I guess her shift had just ended. She was lovely. And had all the answers and suggestions for the menu. I appreciate her staying the extra few minutes. The best thing off the menu was the Mac n cheese. So good. Homemade Mac n cheese is a definite must when you order here. It was the side I picked with the fried fish basket. I have a shellfish allergy and Jessica kindly switched out the shrimp for more cod. It was perfectly cooked and I am pretty sure the tarter sauce was home made as well. The meatloaf wasn't great, my husband said it was okay. Everyone took a couple bites and it got tossed. My son ate all the mashed potatoes with gravy. We picked out the broccoli from the onions and peppers mix and tossed that too. The chef salad was decent but definitely have had better salads. We added the avocado and got the onion on the side, my son isn't a huge fan of fresh onions. The lettuce wasn't the best and the tomatoes were a bit soggy but the meats were good and the egg was cooked just right. The kids ate burgers with fries and my daughter ate a corn dog and strawberries like it was the first thing she had eaten in days. The meals did not come with drinks. The pulled pork nachos were good but there was only a hand full of chips and they didn't get half way through the pork and other sides before we ran out. I had requested chips on the side and the amount was skimpy other wise delicious. read more

As I waited for my order to be completed, I happened to see a sign that read: We have the right to refuse service to anyone; Especially Toby. For their food to be mediocre at best, I am thankful to see that sign, because I will not be returning and wasting my money at this place again. read more

Unique breakfast is hard to come by, and it was really really good. The server was a long time worker there and was extremely friendly and welcoming and entertaining. Classic server personality that isn't encountered as often these days. Restaurant was busy but there were enough nooks and crannies that made it comfortable regardless. WOW! I have had a lot of Eggs Benedict but sometimes restaurants choose to keep things super bland with them... not Darbi's! The Southern Benedict was SPECTACULAR! The sauce had so much flavor, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the cornbread and veggies were delicious, and the combination of them all was nothing short of magical! We also really enjoyed the potato cakes, the French toast, and the waffles. We didn't have to wait long (this quaint cafe is deceivingly large) and the service was wonderful. We will definitely go out of our way for Darbi's Cafe anytime we go up north! read more

#YelpsBigNightIn This review was during the covid-19 pandemic. 5 stars I was out shopping with friends and needed sustenance. Darbi's Cafe was selected. I had been to Darbi's for breakfast but was unsure about lunch. I, also, was concerned because the corona virus was still going around. We were greeted by someone wearing a mask and gloves with menus that had just been wiped down with a disinfectant. The table was cleaned, as well. Lunch is usually sandwiches that I am not a fan. Not here! The menu had starters, south of the border meals, melts, classic & specialty sandwiches, hamburgers & chicken burgers, Baja bowls, wraps, protein plate, baskets, salads, soup & chili (alone or on a chili dog). There was something for everyone. We had trouble picking just one! Our server came with a mask to take our order. We started with the clam chowder because one of my friends said it was delicious... and she was right! The chowder was perfect with the right thickness filled with clams, and had potatoes and other vegetables to add a delicious flavor. I chose the nachos and the others had the prime rib sliders. The nachos came piled on a huge platter! There were enough for 4 hungry adults. I shared it with my friends and still had enough for, at least, 3 lunches. The homemade chips were piled with pulled pork, a delicious cheese sauce, refried beans, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. It came with a tomato salsa, tomatillo salsa and sour cream. They were delicious. We all enjoyed them and would order again as a starter or lunch for a group. I was happy to take home the leftovers of the topping and cheese left at the bottom- just adding my own tortilla chips. The prime rib sliders were also delicious. They chose onion rings instead of fries. The prime rib was plentiful, cut thin but not too thin. It had a horseradish sauce that was good, though spicy for one friend who doesn't do spice. I tasted it and found it mild for me. There were a good amount of big onion rings-also delicious. I felt comfortable in the restaurant. All staff wore masks Properly and gloves. I felt they cared about their customers and did everything they could do to make them happy and the restaurant safe!! You can tell their training came from an excellent and caring management. We get up early and drive to get to Darbi's before 7am. There is always a crowd and wait line, so we get there early to beat the rush. But the length of the line tells you how willingly people will wait to eat there. Love the kitchen, farmhouse ambience. Darbi's has an incredible breakfast menu! The staff is attentive, friendly and personable. Breakfast is always fantastic. I highly recommend getting a cinnamon roll! You will not regret it. Even one bite will knock your socks off. Their blueberry mimosas are delicious, too (no photo of that one!). I'm a huge fan of Benedict's and that's my usual go-to anywhere. 10/10! read more

We went up to Pinetop this last weekend for a little getaway and wanted breakfast the first morning we were there, my spouse chose this place due to reviews. I'm not sure if most Yelpers just hand out 5 stars because most places are better than average or what, but I didn't see this place as a "5 Star" place, realistically it's like a 3.5 but I'll be generous because I do love local business more than chains. This place was nice and cozy, we were sat promptly to a table within the first ten minutes upon arriving around 10:30am. It took a bit for our server to greet us, but luckily they sent a water boy over to grab drinks ahead of time. We order a kids pancake with sausage, S.O.B, and the Florentine eggs Benedict with potato cakes. BF said the SOB, flavor was definitely there and hit the spot for him, but appearance wise compared to mine wasn't very appealing at first. Florentine eggs Benedict-- was made perfectly in my opinion, the eggs were perfectly cooked, BUT my English muffin underneath was a bit stale and really chewy, I could barely cut through with my knife. The bacon had two different consistency, either soggy and chewy or crispy, I prefer crispy. The hollandaise sauce was delicious, I asked for an extra side of it when ordering and they didn't disappoint. Now for my potato cake, OMG THEY WERE DELICIOUS, I've never had something like that before, I devoured it, and still thinking about it days after! All in all, I can see why this place gets a five star so often, portion sizes are LARGE, just like our American appetites, flavor of the foods there, service is average, nothing extraordinary and it's a LOCALLY OWNED PLACE. Snow was falling as I visited Darbi's Cafe.  Warm inside.  Didn't need 2 layers of jackets any more.  Elves were bustling about.  1 more day till Christmas.  Friendly elf pointed me to the unlimited soup bar.  I tried the chicken noodle soup.  Delicious chicken soup aroma.  Noodles had a mild flavor which added a nice flavor dimension.  Chicken was tender with rich chicken flavor.  Broth was full of flavor but there was a bit more pepper than I'd prefer. French fries were crispy with a delicious seasoned potato flavor.  Turkey pot pie was topped with a puff pastry that had a nice mild buttery flavor.  Inside was a ton of peas, some carrots, and tender turkey.  Great tasting pie.   There is a warning that you get a ton of food here.  They aren't kidding as I wasn't able to eat all my fries.  Meals are large dinner size and expect leftovers unless you prep yourself for going to a buffet. 2nd Visit I tried the fried catfish with onion rings.  Onion rings were coated in a crunchy beer batter.  Loved the mix of flavors from the sweet onions and the salty beer batter. Fried catfish was coated with corn meal which gave a bit of crunch which contrasted the delicate catfish.  Catfish was delicious but the due to the thin filet the ratio of batter to catfish was higher then I prefer. I love visiting Pinetop in the winter as there is a good chance of seeing snow.  Darbi's Cafe is my fav spot to eat.  One of these days I'll have to stop by an try one of their baked treats.  I never have room after a meal.  So far my favorite dish is the fried chicken. read more

The portions were HUGE and the food is delicious! Clean restaurant. Staff were friendly and attentive. My boyfriend and I were in the area to play in the blizzard and stumbled upon this gem. Our luck ran out finding a place to dine for his bday the night before and on our way out of town, a local recommended Darbi's. I ordered the breakfast special: pecan cinnamon roll French toast with portugués sausage and my boyfriend ordered a burger and a cup of chili (which was a little on the salty side) that came with a delicious cornbread. Although we were stuffed, we wanted to try the banana cream pie but the ran out, so we agreed on chocolate pie. Thank you for the excellent service. Until next time! read more

It's been awhile since we have been back, but we were able to stop this morning before we headed back home. It was about 630am when we arrived and luckily there weren't many customers... seemed like as soon as we were leaving the crowd was arriving. This time I ordered chicken fried steak, grits, and pancakes. The chicken fried steak was delicious nice and crispy, gravy had great flavor, my grits were a tad undercooked, pancakes were perfect. My husband unknowingly ordered the same thing as the first time The son of a biscuit and he enjoyed it once again. Waitstaff was great... this place is definitely one to go to... but it's also the "spot" so it's packed a lot. read more

Another trip to Show Low so we had to stop for breakfast. Where? Why...Darbi's Cafe of course! Such goooood food! For me...Lemon Blueberry Crepes!!! Oh wow...oh WOW!!! Just look at these crepes! Lemon marscapone (and such good lemon flavor!), blueberry compote, real blueberries, vanilla cream, and...and...whipped cream on top! Yeowee!!! Satisfied my hunger for sure! Tender crepes, the fruit is so delicious, I was sooo happy with this, I was smiling with each bite! And, yes, I DID bring home a section of my bacon for my cat Tux! (who is laying next to me right now just staring at the napkin the bacon is wrapped in!) Bonnie chose the Irish Benedict. Can you believe it? Corned Beef, some GREAT poached eggs on top, Hollandaise sauce over potato cakes! And, YES...that is on my list of items to try next time!!! Then...since I saw one of the waitresses walk by with one of their gigantic cinnamon buns, both Bonnie and I ordered one for ourselves to take home! I can't wait to dig into it tomorrow! read more

I didn't realize I would be getting a gourmet breakfast in the middle of the woods. We came for breakfast and they had so many good unique options that I had a hard time deciding. They have a variety of Benedict's, French toast, eggs and stuff, omelettes, and biscuits and gravy, as well as other some healthy options and other stuff. I like that they offer the option of a half order on some dishes. I ordered the Son of a Biscuit which is a New Mexico twist on biscuits and gravy with a green chili sauce. One of the best biscuits and gravy breakfasts I've ever had. The green sauce was mild and flavorful but left room for the flavor of the sausage. And the biscuit was huge and fluffy. Baked to perfection. My parents both cleaned their plates as well with the Irish Benedict and Florentine Crepes. If that is the only meal I eat today, (and it might be since it was huge) I would be happy. Even though it was a busy Friday morning, service was great and the food came out in good time. I wish I could extend my vacation to try more of their breakfast dishes and the rest of their menu. read more

I love this spot! Everything we got was great and also way too much food! We sat outside in the patio (which I highly recommend) to enjoy the weather and scenery. The Benedict was unique and very tasty with the crispy potatoes. The biscuits and gravy was also delicious! The pancake was a great sweet treat to have with breakfast.
