Such a ridiculous organization. I came to get my headlight changed because my mechanic was booked. They talked me into a $350 service to rotate my tires and check the brakes in all systems. I made an appointment. They said it would take two hours, even though I had an appointment then it was 4 1/2 hours and as I drove it off the lot, I realized there was a wretched sound coming from my brake brakes. I took it back and waited another 2 1/2 hours, even though it was their fault and I had an appointment then they told me the brakes were installed in properly and they had done a very poor job. Eight hours of my life. The staff is trained very well and I do not blame them because they were all quite nice, but you can just feel the corruption in the system. read more

I'm 33 weeks into a higher risk pregnancy with a car that is not legally compliant that I'm paying 430/month on since April. I had an absolutely terrible experience with this dealership. I bought a 2020 Jeep Wrangler from them a little over a month ago. I am an exceptionally patient person and have tried my best to be understanding throughout all of this, but my patience has worn thin. For starters, when we asked for the inspection report on the vehicle, we were given the inspection report for a completely different vehicle. The staff didn't even realize this until I pointed it out. The rest of the process of buying the car was somewhat smooth, aside from the fact that multiple people in the used car department were unable to answer simple questions. When I went to check out the vehicle, I opened the gas cap, which then fell completely out of the vehicle. It was visibly loose when I looked at it, meaning they saw this issue and didn't fix it. My boyfriend pointed it out to them, and they did go and fix it. Then, I took my car to a shop, where they informed me that I had been sold a vehicle that was leaking oil from the timing cover and the transmission heater. I called and reached out MULTIPLE times and had multiple people call on my behalf after being told I would receive a callback, only to never hear back. It took over three weeks of me calling and repeatedly following up before I could get my car scheduled for service before my warranty expired. I live over an hour away and work two jobs, and they were almost impossible to work with when it came to scheduling. My uncle, who co-signed for me, would call and be told one thing, and then I would call and receive a completely different answer. The first time I called, someone even tried to convince me for ten minutes that I was calling the wrong dealership, despite the fact that I had purchased the Jeep from Darcars Toyota. After finally getting my service appointment scheduled (literally three days before my warranty expired), my uncle, my mother, and I were all told that I would be able to get a rental car while my Jeep was being repaired. I proceeded to drive an hour and a half alone to drop it off. After being at the dealership for over an hour, I was informed that I actually was not allowed to get a rental car and was offered no solution other than, "Have someone come and do the rental for you," despite the fact that it was the middle of a workday and I was far from home. My uncle had to sit in traffic for two and a half hours to get there to help me while I sat in the dealership and wasn't even acknowledged by anyone, despite asking more than five times to speak to someone in charge. I was repeatedly told that he was "in a meeting" and would "come out soon." I also had to explain the rules regarding when you get off your provisional license to my salesperson, even though her entire job revolves around cars. Finally, we got the rental situation figured out. I then went an ENTIRE week without a single update on my vehicle, despite texting and asking for one so I could make sure I was available on the day it was ready for pickup. I was eventually called and updated, only to be informed that they had only performed a diagnostic after having my vehicle for over a week. Another week passed with no update. I went almost three weeks with a rental car and received only three updates during that entire time. When I made the drive to drop the car off, one of the salespeople told me that I could leave the keys with them due to a personal situation, which I greatly appreciated. However, when we arrived at the dealership, she was nowhere to be found. We explained this to a woman sitting at the front desk, and instead of trying to help us figure out the situation, she was very rude and told us that we were in the wrong place, even though we had already explained the situation to her twice. Eventually, she decided to ask one of her coworkers about it, and he took the keys for us. Then, we had multiple employees repeatedly asking us whether or not we had put gas in the rental vehicle, despite us telling them multiple times that we had filled it up. I'm not entirely sure why, because I've been nothing but honest and understanding throughout this entire process, so it was hurtful to feel as though they thought I wouldn't honor one of their policies. Finally, as I drove away from the dealership and got an hour away, someone called me to inform me that my license plates were ready, despite the fact that I had been there just an hour earlier. They are now shipping them to us, which I greatly appreciate, but this should never have become a situation in the first place. Like I said, I am one of the most level-headed and understanding people you will ever meet, but this entire experience was absolutely ridiculous. I truly believe that if you are looking for an honest, competent, and reliable dealership to purchase a vehicle from, you should look elsewhere. read more

I had a terrible experience with the service department. i've had bought my camry three years ago from this dealership and right after you buy the car, their customer service is awful. I came on friday to get my led light checked from my trunk and it took them over 2 hours to come with a diagnostic that it needed a simple replacement. After i get told this, im told i need to pay $127 for the replacement. I can literally change it myself for less than $20. At to this extent, they didn't even replace the light; they did not have the part here. so my time was wasted. Now, Monday, i came and wait over an hour for a simple replacement of the bulb when i had spoken to the advisor ahead of time on Friday that the service would take 30 minutes. I had to over explain myself and demand my car to be given to me because it should NEVER take that long to change an LED light. This has been a terrible experience and ridiculous service for what my car needed. The only reason they are giving me my car sooner than the "2 hours" they said it takes, is because i explicitly told them I do not have time because i have to work. I called the dealership to have a software update for my 2014 sequoia infotainment system (the hands free speaker is not working well I hear all the phone calls very muffled). I saw on the sequoia forum online that the first step is to update the firmware and it might fix the issue. Unfortunately the software on the Toyota website doesn't work and you have to go to a dealer to get it done.. We're talking about plugging in a USB stick into the stereo port for 2 minutes! They're asking for $150 for that!! It's supposed to be a free service since your system is outdated and can't receive a normal update.. It's very disappointing and it feels like they're taking advantage of the situation because they're the only ones who can do it. Greedy and nasty dealership. read more

Unfortunately, because I was moving to South Korea, I ended up missing the call. She texted me noting she wants to make things right for me (which I truly appreciated it). When I told her I was in Korea and asked if there's a way to contact with WhatsApp or such since it costs me money to call internationally, she had took the extra step to figure out a way to communicate with me. She honestly deserves 5/5 stars, a bonus, and promotion for all the effort she made in trying to navigate how to communicate with me and understanding my situation of me moving to South Korea. She had to calculate the time differences to see what time would work and even called me on Saturday, which was the day I was free! This place is the bane of my existence. They gave me the most shittest car ever. First month battery died and had to have it replaced. Two months later window regulator breaks. A month later. It needs over a $1,000 in service for a 60,000 mile service when I bought the car at 55,900 miles. They should have done the service before selling the car. A month later. Needs a new catalytic converter due to bad spark plugs. This damn car has been costing me more than it's worth and that is fucking bullshit I bought the car December 2nd and it is now June 15th I should not be having this many problems after 6 months of having the car and only driving it 2,000 miles. Best part is they sold me a warranty that they claim covers bumper-to-bumper, but wouldn't cover my catalytic converter so why the fuck did I pay two grand for something that's not going to do what they're supposed to do. If you want business to come back, you gotta do better than this. This was a really messed up situation and I'm super pissed and I will make sure to let everybody know so they don't come to you. We purchased a 2025 Toyota Sienna from DARCARS Toyota of Silver Spring in September 2025, and this has been one of the most stressful vehicle transactions we have ever experienced. At the time of purchase, approximately $6,000 in optional products (warranty, tire & wheel protection, GAP, and dealership assurance products) were added to our contract without proper explanation or separate authorization. These items were not clearly disclosed or initialed individually as required under Maryland guidelines, which we later discovered when reviewing our paperwork. When we questioned the add-ons, the dealership agreed to cancel them. However, the refund amount credited to Toyota Financial was less than what was represented during cancellation. We were later told that a portion was deducted due to mileage, but this was not clearly disclosed at the time the cancellation form was signed. Despite multiple phone calls and emails, including attempts to reach the finance department and management, responses have been inconsistent or nonexistent. We have had to repeatedly follow up just to receive basic accounting information. What makes this most disappointing is not just the money -- it's the lack of transparency and communication. We trusted the Toyota brand and expected integrity and professionalism throughout the process. Instead, we have spent months trying to resolve issues that should not have occurred in the first place. We are now working through corporate channels and the Maryland Consumer Protection Division to obtain a full written accounting of the transaction. This dealer gets 1 star simply because the sales people are respectful, and kind, I stop at thorough. I purchased a vehicle from here and spent hours at the dealer, not unusual but when you have financing in place before walking in the door it's a bit unusual. Furthermore, I literally was there and watched the sun set. By time my deal was final it was dark, the car looked clean and the sunrise the next day proves it was. However, this is where all of the problems started. 1. The sun roof was jacked up, but was an easy fix...we'll come back to that. 2. The tires in the front didn't match the back, meaning the tires wouldn't stay inflated. We won't come back to this, it's called cutting corners. 3. The fender cover was broken. 4. The lift gate was broken. I took the car back for service a week later and they claimed they fixed everything. But nothing was done! Literally NOTHING! I took the car back and reminded them I didn't want to come back again for service this early but here I am. They were polite, took my key and said we'll have it back to you next day by close of business. Okay, Cool...didn't happen. A week later I got my car back after absolutely no communication from the dealer or service department, I literally called ten times over two days only to be transferred to ringing phones with no vm and no answer. I resulted to calling DARCARS HQ, and this is when the action took place. But even then HQ who promised to call back in 24 hours didn't call me, I had to call them and I had to track down the person who sold me the car and finally between the two of them we got some where new tires, lift gate works, sunroof seems to be on point. All good...maybe, maybe not. I'll never go back to DARCARS. There are a lot of fingers to point at for the blame. Unfortunately those that suffer are likely the sales people because of the lack of good service from the sales center. At the same time customer service all around isn't a priority here and it needs fixed. Oh yeah before I forget the General Manager called me after my complaints, I work just like him so I couldn't answer but I sent him a text message...guess what...he didn't respond. Not surprised. It's a shame that this dealer is what it is, but once someone or something shows you who they are believe it. The ratings across the internet on them don't lie, you've been warned....positives here they cut corners so that saves you money when buying but it won't save you the headache after you drive away so be smart and dive right on by this dealer. So the pros are minimal. One thing I'll say there are some good people that work here, I don't drop names in my post but I will say this if they left this dealer they would likely be better off and make more $$$. I was on this site last week stating how great the sales department was. I stand by that first impression. But it was a first impression. After a week of driving the vehicle, I found that the wheel lock nut was missing, as was the drivers manual. Then I found the alignment grossly off and had to pay to have it done, as well as the tires being grossly overinflated. They were at 41 pounds when they should have been at 33. Remedy? Well i had to take time off my work to drive back to the dealer and get a new key which they gave me. The manual? I was told it was in the app, otherwise, I had to weight 8 months to obtain a new one. when you want a quick answer to the question, nothing beats the manual. I had not called them about the alignment because I can't afford to take anymore time off work to have addressed it. AND dealers don't cut checks after they sell a car, soooo..... Lastly, The DARCARS assurance program I was given does not start for 60 days after sale and I have to call them to let them know I made an appointment at another dealer to have it done. Then and only then will they send that dealer an email to confirm I had it. No print out or any other item given to me to prove I had it. Talk about a system full of friction. These are not catastrophic, but annoying enough to warrant a low score after spending a shitload to purchase a car (prices not being negotiable). I share blame to the extent that I did not check for these things, but a good dealer should think about all the things a customer needs and work to avoid such annoyances. I came into to look at a RAV4. After looking at the reviews on YELP, I wasn't sure about this place. I was met by a young salesman named Sam. He greeted me, made eye-contact and actually took the time to listen to the features I told him I wanted on a car. I had a price in mind that was probably a little unrealistic, and while he said he couldn't meet that price, he would do what he could to earn my business. I really felt he genuinely wanted to get me the car I wanted and he was fair throughout the process. He made me feel like he valued my business. He didn't explain everything, just gave us a number at first. With all the hidden things he snuck in the contract. Anyway, after that long process, the next frustrating thing about this dealership is the service dept. a simple oil change takes FOREVER. This place needs a management overhaul. Although my wife and I ended buying a new car from this dealership, the experience was awful, and the people we dealt with were either intentionally misleading us at worst or bad, inconsistent communicators at best. We spent 7 long hours trying to reject optional expenses that they kept trying to force on us over and over again or bury in confusing language/documentation, and they kept contradicting themselves. As just one example, the financial guy we were working with kept pressuring us to get an extended 8-year warranty and tire/wheel protection that would have added about $5,000 to the price of the car. We continuously said no, and he kept incrementally lowering the added cost, which would still end up being over $4,000. Eventually, he wrote $647 on a piece of paper and offered that as a price. We clearly asked if this was just a one-time, upfront, flat cost. He said "yes." We decided that a one-time cost like this would surely be lower than any maintenance costs that would accumulate in the next 8 years, so we agreed. He drew up the paperwork, which I carefully read despite how extensive it was, and saw that the cost of extended warranty and tire/wheel protection was still over $4,000. I asked him about this, and he said that $647 was the monthly cost. When we pointed out the contradiction, he denied ever saying it was a one-time, upfront cost. Was he lying or just that poor a communicator? We asked him to draw up documentation without the optional costs added in, yet he continued showing us figures with them included, all the while trying to make us feel like we're missing out. We kept saying "no" and insisting on the base price. He finally relented after way too long. If you end up having to buy from this dealership, here's my advice. Pay careful attention to everything they say and show you, be strong, stay focused on what you want (not what they say you should want), and advocate for yourself. If possible, I also strongly suggest having someone with experience working with dealerships that you can call/text for advice while you're in there, which was a big help for me and my wife. Also, don't be afraid to ask the salesperson to step away if you need personal space to think/discuss options. We did that many times. read more

I had an appointment to convert my expiring vehicle lease to finance. My husband and I arrived on time and got seated. Nobody came to check in on us or anything for 10+ minutes. Then someone we had the appointment for came by only to step away having us waiting some more. His desk was littered with customer information, names, phone numbers and everything. That made me feel uncomfortable how our personal information will get treated and I foresee it as an upcoming paperwork nightmare. We ended up leaving after sitting there for nearly 30 minutes. The salesman came out 7/10/24 tried to jump it and determined it needed to be replaced and arranged for a tow . It's now 7/17/24, and after speaking to manager of used car sales he argued me down that they had no knowledge it needed a battery before it left the lot and it took this long to secure a battery. DO NOT COME HERE!!! Extremely dissatisfied with my experience with Darcars Toyota Silver Spring. On December 29th, 2024, I purchased a 2021 Toyota Corolla. The saleswoman at the time was pleasant but the finance personnel was rude and condescending as I did not want to purchase the dealerships' extended warranty. This interaction was made worse as I had my grandmother with me. Lack of respect from the Finance Personnel. On December 30th, 2024, I came back to pick up the car, the saleswoman was under the impression that I only made the down payment on the 29th but I explained to her that I took care everything and was only there to pick up the car. Lack of communication between the finance personnel and the saleswoman but at the end of the day, I picked up the car. Not even 24 hours after driving off the lot, I noticed a gap in the bumper on the driver side. I immediately contacted the dealership to speak with the saleswoman. I explained my discovery and sent her pictures. I told her that I wanted to bring my car into the service center that same day but she expressed that they will be closing early due to NYE. I understood and I told her that I will be making an appointment with the service center for the later that week, which the saleswoman simply said okay to. Friday, January 3rd and I'm at the service center. When making the appointment and checking the car in, I expressed that I will be "waiting while the car is being serviced". I received a text message saying that I can use this number to ask any questions while the car is being serviced. 1.5 hours go by with no updates, so I texted the number asking if there was any updates...no response. Another 30 minutes go by and I asked the same question, this time I did get a response but it says " your car is scheduled to be looked at tomorrow". I immediately went to the front desk and asked for clarification as I specially told the appointment scheduler and the gentleman that checked in my car that I will be waiting for it. Turns out someone put on my sheet that I was leaving it overnight, I was livid as I was sitting there for over 2 hours at this point thinking my car was being looked at but someone carelessly put on my sheet that it was left. The front desk spoke to some of his colleagues and they were giving me looks, I honestly didn't care as they were wasting my time and I needed answers. After an additional 15 minutes, it turns out that someone was working on my car but they were unable to fix it onsite and it needed to be taken to the bodyshop...again very upset. The front desk was apologetic and explained that he would call me on Saturday with a scheduled appointment for the bodyshop. I didnt believe that as the bodyshop isnt open on the weekends. I did explain to him that I just got the car that Sunday and he was surprised that my saleswoman wasn't taking care of this. This statement comes into play later. Tuesday, January 7th, 9 days after I purchased this car. I called the Service Center again about making an appointment with the bodyshop, the lady expressed that I would need to call their collision department to schedule with them directly...this is not what the front desk told me on Friday January 3rd. I went ahead and called the Collision department and to my surprised that they said that the sales department would have to contact them directly to take care of this issue. I explained to the lady that no one told me this but I understood. I immediately called the Used Car department and asked to speak with the manager, I guess they weren't available as the saleswoman picked up. I identified myself and before I could finish my sentence she immediately says " Yes, you were supposed to bring the car in but I'm not sure if you did". I stopped her there and told her that I did bring the car in to the service center, like I told her via text. She then says that she tried to explain to me that I was supposed to take it to them to have her manager look at it. Lies, she never told me that. As I was trying to tell her that she did not inform me of this process she again cut me off and told me to "listen". There was some back and forth and after I told her that I have text messages that proves she never told me of this process that's when she apologized and owned up to her mistake. She then told me that I would need to bring the car in to have Shane (manager) look at it to make the final determination on what to do. I said okay and I will be back that week. After multiple calls and having to get corporate involved, I finally got my car fixed. However as of June, 23rd, the bumper is once again hanging off but it's worse now. Again, I had to get in contact with corporate for their assistance with this matter. Waiting on a response from the dealership. This has been such a terrible experience. Worked with a salesman. Finalizing deal. He was getting me paperwork before my 5 hour long drive. Then he goes silent. Two days later I ask what's up and he tells me they are going to sell it to someone else and that his boss told him to stop the sale with me. He never told me despite the fact that it was available when I inquired first. More than a week later car is still available. I inquire via text. I'm assured a salesperson will be in contact with me shortly. Nope. Never happens. What a horrible dealership. I guess all the reviews are correct. I bought a used BMW from DARCARS Toyota in Silver Spring, and it has been a nightmare ever since. The car wouldn't start the very next day after I brought it home. When I contacted the dealership, they sent me to a random detail shop that had no expertise in handling electrical issues. My car sat there for over a week. When they finally called me to say it was "fixed," the car wouldn't start again the next day. I contacted them again, and they told me to bring the car to their Toyota service center. After jumping the car and driving it back, they checked it and said the battery needed to be replaced. Instead of replacing it on-site, they sent the car to the BMW service center, where it sat for over four weeks. This delay was clearly an attempt to bypass Maryland's repair timeframe law. For reference, BMW always has batteries in stock and could have replaced it in a single day. When the car still wouldn't start after all this, I reached out again, only to be told by their service staff, particularly Lorrine, that they wouldn't help or cover any fees anymore. Her dismissive attitude was unacceptable. I went back to the dealership and spoke to Russel, who was polite and tried to help, but the used car manager, Calvin, refused to cover the repair costs. Calvin has ignored my repeated calls and emails, even though he's seen all my complaints. I finally scheduled an appointment with BMW, where they informed me the real issue wasn't the battery--it's the head unit. The repair estimate is $4,693.97, and DARCARS Toyota refuses to take responsibility or even return my calls or emails. Right now, my car is completely nonfunctional, and this dealership has left me hanging. Recently bought a new Land Cruiser here. I live several hours away so I put a $2000 deposit down for them to hold the car for 36 hours. It was clarified ahead of time that this deposit would be refunded after purchasing. They made no mention of it at the dealership when I bought the car (first red flag), but I reached out later in the day requesting refund, which they said they processed and would appear in 2-3 business days. It has now been multiple weeks and my bank has confirmed no refund has been processed. Their new excuse is "it can take several weeks to get approval from accounting" and they refuse to let me speak to a sales manager. This is a known, scammy tactic that is complete nonsense. They have had multiple chances to rectify the issue and failed. It has become very clear what the intentions are of this dealership. Then the sales person Tyshae lied to me and my boyfriend's face saying the credit application would be a soft pull when it was indeed a hard pull that i just found out about.
