I am ok with the fact that he eventually low-balled me (expected) but the way he carries himself and speaks to people is more on the lines of a thug than a car salesman. Please beware when dealing with this dealership i was wronged and i was told by Wesley the salesman that they are done with me and then a few choice words i cant say on here i was told this by the salesman Wesley who sold me the car, not once did he ever call me to ask how i liked the car and i was told by him to keep my old tags because these would transfer over to my new car, well a week ago "i called Wesley because he would never ever call you" to check on the tags and i was told by Wesley go a head and return my old tags to the mva because they were issuing me new ones well i get the registration in the mail and sure enough it has my old tags on it, i also received a check in the mail that wesley said must be a christmas present which tells me he knew absolutely nothing about the check. so when i called i was indeed rightfully upset about this but he didn't like that i was upset and told me a few choice words he was done dealing with me???? I couldn't believe he acually treated me with such disrespect and so i will definitely take this matter to the mva myself to try to resolve this so buyers just BEWARE their customer service after the sale is nothing but DISRESPECTFULL!!!!!!! Our appointment to purchase our leased car was at 3:00PM today and we did not get home until 8:00PM (dealership is about 35 minutes away from our home). That should say it all right there. We made an appointment and met a salesperson "assigned" to us at 3:00PM, chatted for about 10 minutes, and then took an hour for lunch to discuss our final decision. We then went back to the dealership to pay cash for our car (after already having called and made another appointment) and were made to wait for over two hours just to get someone to accept our money and buy our car at full asking price per the lease contract. Yes, you heard correctly--we were throwing money at the dealership and no one came to help us (for over two hours). To add insult to injury, our "dedicated" salesperson conveniently failed to tell us that we could have just gone to our local Toyota dealership to do the lease buyout as we had spoken to him a couple times via phone prior to our first appointment (there is one down the street from where we live--we assumed we had to go to this one because we had originally leased the car from this location) probably because he was hoping that we would either buy or lease another car from him/this location (the original "salesperson" who helped us with the leased car was the general manager). I have worked in commission-based sales my entire career and I "get" the whole sales angle. However, as a salesperson myself, I was appalled at the service I received from DARCARS. No apologies from the general manager, no concessions, no honoring of appointments, no discounts, very few experienced and professional sales and/or finance staff members, and a total disregard for the customer's time and money. The only excuse I heard was that it's a Saturday and it's busy. Well, this isn't the first Saturday they've been in business and a good manager knows to staff his sales floor adequately during busy days. I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am in Darcars Toyota Silver Spring and Toyota Financial. I am a long time Toyota customer. The Toyota RAV4 I now drive is my 6th Toyota. I will never buy another Toyota. I leased a Corolla and was stuck with a $1,600 over mileage bill. The only way I could have avoided this was to lease another vehicle. I bought this time instead of leasing. That makes absolutely no sense to me. You can only forgive over mileage if I lease and not buy. I guess I should have read the fine print. Thanks Wesley Barriteau for not caring about the customer and just the sale. Thanks for assuring me that everything was taken care of and that I would not have any additional charges. Worst experience of my life and since I can't write all of what I want to in this review, I will just be saying on here that the manager LEE RAY treated my family and I like we weren't even human beings, straight racism, rude, and disrespectful. He doesn't belong in this type of business, we did absolutely nothing to Mr. Ray to be treated and talked to the way he did. We have reached out to customer relations and still have not had any response from them. This will be day 3. I have been purchasing cars here for as long as I remember and to be exact the 6th one was purchased on 08/24/2019 and only the very next day on 08/25/2019 the car indicated a malfunction and needed to be taken back to toyota, we took it back on this very same day and Mr. Ray refused to help us with this issue and instead continued to file paperwork, use his computer, talk to other people while we were trying to speak to him, he made no eye contact with us, talk over us and said that he would make sure our deal with the bank would get approved so that we would have to stay with this car. We had paperwork stating we can cancel the deal if the bank did not approve and Mr. Ray stated our deal got approved overnight with the bank( it was Sunday) and then proceeded to say that he'll make sure it gets approved. He gave us no options and no room to speak. This was a used car with 15,000 miles and instead of Mr. Ray assisting us with the issue the car was presenting he had he kept talking over us and interrupting us. Stated he did not care who we contacted and gave us the number to customer relations. Mr. Ray did not give us any other option but to drive away with this car and there was no resolution. The reason I am calling this racism is because we gave him no reason to talk to us the way he did and treat us in that manner. We approached him with respect and explained our concerns to him about the vehicle he sold us. He immediately refused to make eye contact and only did when we first introduced ourselves and as he sarcastically told us to have a good day when we were leaving. Treated us like our concern was not important and as if we were stray dogs. My only regret is not recording this interaction that many of his employees and customers witnessed so that I could've exposed him! read more

This place is not only the worse place to go for service. It is also the worse place to go for auto parts & supplies. Today I would address Auto parts & Supplies since I've addressed the service on google. 7/17/2019 I got my SUV serviced & checked for any other recommended services. I was told that I needed addition svc to the tune of $5,692.74. These prices included $1850.00 of caution items. Since I was waiting for over an hour to have my car wash, I went to the auto parts and supplies to get the prices for all the parts and product for my SUV. The service agent Lee went over all the parts and products. He even went to the back to speak to other co-workers to give me the correct prices and wrote the prices on my paper to say these where the price he had given me and then told me it $1300. plus. However, with the discount he applied my total cost is $983. He went further and gave me a number (PQ43188) told me that I don't have to purchase the items now. The number he gave me don't expired, and I just have to give it to anyone of the sale rep. and they can access the items and the price will remains the same. I returned to purchase the items for my car on 8/15/19 and was told at first that they couldn't locate the number, but he remember me and yes, the number don't expired. He went in the back then came back and told me that the boss clean out all the numbers out of the system and now added a 30 days limit to the numbers. Furthermore, the rep told me the same items are now $1400 plus and there is nothing he can do. I asked for Lee waited. At first, he said he don't remembered what take place, but the number shouldn't expired. He then told me the items are $1100 plus. I gave him the documents he wrote the prices on. He called his manager the manager said the price was already given me $5,692.74. Lee then called his boss, who said he is the owner and his name is Jay. he came out said Lee already told him what happen and it I'm not buying the stuffs at the price given I must get out of his place of business all because I asked him to honor the price of $983. I called the customer service @ 800 327 2277 who had contacted me after my 1st. review who also overheard some of the comments that owner Jay was saying. She said that each of the parts and supplies set their own prices and that they is nothing she can do. I would never buy another Toyota .I went to another place got all the items for $700. and the service at a certified shop for $400 that a whopping saving of $4,592.72 thanks for being so dishonorable it worked out well for me. read more

I have a 2008 Highlander Hybrid. I moved here 4 weeks ago from Texas and just needed my car winterized. I had a 1:15 appt on 11-12. It is 5:02 pm. I need to leave, so I asked that my car be brought forward at 4:42. It is 5:03 and my car has still not been brought forward. I was not greeted when I came into the bay and the 2 or 3 men who were checking people in were all working on the same car - not 3 different cars. When I was finally addressed, I began speaking and was interrupted before I could get more than a few words out. Then one of the three handed me a piece of paper and walked away from my car without saying anything else to me. I wandered inside and stood for about 20 minutes in the lobby before someone addressed me. Upon taking my information, I was sent upstairs to wait. Hearing nothing from anyone, I came down to check on where my car was. I was told the technician was just finishing up and my car would be brought to the front. Twenty minutes later, I asked again and was told that it had just come off the lift and the counter guy wanted to make sure there was oil in it before he brought it forward. Um ... why not ask the technician, seeing he had just taken my car off the lift? I have been here for 4 hours and still do not have my car. This Toyota dealership will never have my business again. I am giving 2 stars only because the technician, Dwight, actually came in and brought me to my car in the service bay. He had seen this gray plastic thing on my seat and recognized it as 1 of 12 bolt covers. While reinstalling it, he found a $20 bill I had dropped. I test drove a vehicle there a month ago through the used car division. Salesman was nice enough until my husband appeared, when he then treated me like I had no brain and tried to be all tough guy with my hubby. We decided to think things over as the price they offered us for our car was very low, and left the dealership. From that point on, the dealership started harassing me daily with more than 8 calls on one day, all but one of which I answered. I bought the car here and used to bring it back for regular, expensive maintenance milstones until their neglectful, so-called maintenance caused the connections to my battery to rust off so the car wouldn't start. There had been an hint that they weren't actually paying good attention to my car when a small moving part in the car's interior wasn't actually fixed but doused in glue and was as broken as ever until I brought it back and said, hey, please actually fix this as requested. I then left for years and only returned when there was an airbag recall and I grudgingly decided to come back to have that fixed. First difficulty was getting the staff to talk to me about my car. While dropping off my car I approached the staff member taking charge of it, greeted him, and tried to talk to him about my vehicle when he ignored me like i didn't exist and walked across the space to speak with my male partner, who was there to give me a ride and nothing more. When speaking to another staff member, about the details of the service on my car (since I decided to treat a mold issue in my AC while I was here), he kept turning to my partner and tried to talk about the particulars with him even though he knew it was my car and I was making all decisions and rendering payment for the service. My partner had to indicate with gestures that the staff member speak with me. When my car was returned and I hope to god they completed the air bag installation correctly and I won't find out by my passenger being horribly injured by an improperly installed airbag during an accident, they had REMOVED PIECES that were holding the undercarriage of the car on so that a few days later bits of the car were hanging out and making grinding/crunching noises. They called me when the car was ready to pick up to tell me histrionically that my car was out of alignment (it wasn't) and my tires were rotting (they were nearing the end of their useful life but were still perfectfully servicable for the time being). Also that my headlights were in need of a special treatment (I take care of this service need myself routinely and the headlights were fine). But they didn't see any problem with TAKING BITS OFF MY CAR SO IT STARTED TO FALL APART AND NOT REPLACING THEM OR TELLING ME. Fortunately my partner 3D printed me custom parts for the car so all was well, no thanks to the dealership. I would have happily purchased replacement pieces to hold the car together while I was already there had they but offered. I love my car and take excellent care of it and the apparently the best thing for it is to keep it away from the Toyota Dealership. I put all this information in a survey after they sent me 7 emails (7?????!!!!!) asking how my experience was. I was going to move on with my life and not create drama by telling them but you keep spamming my inbox, I'm eventually going to share my opinion. The worst customer service s morning I took my mom's car in to have some recalls taken care of. I was referred to six different employees before somebody finally checked me in; even he told me that a different guy was supposed to check me in but that he'd do it himself. Now I've been trying to schedule a shuttle pickup for two hours. First I left a voicemail; no reply. Then I called three times and was transferred to somebody else who never picked up the phone. I complained during my fourth call, so I finally got a real person. Of course, she wasn't the scheduler, so she said she would have to tell the correct person to call me. Somebody just called as I was writing this to ask where I needed to be picked up from, and to tell me that somebody would call me when they're on their way, so I'm still waiting to schedule my pickup. read more

I regret ever buying a car here. Device has been spotty and I now go here just to get my car detailed during service. Last Thursday night I left the car to be serviced so I could pick it up Friday evening. They discovered some service issues (I'm not confident that they didn't "up bill" me) and they said I could pick it up today (Monday) even though service is closed, which I do regularly when I pick the car up in the evening. However, I just went and the keys weren't available. I work in downtown D.C., so the dealership is far way, especially in rush hour traffic. Since they messed up by not leaving the keys with sales, they should have offered to drop the car off at my home tomorrow, but they wouldn't do that. This will be the last time I leave my car with them for service and I will never buy a car from them. Be warned: stay away. read more

This is hands down the most incompetent and unprofessional car dealership I have ever dealt with. The process of buying the actual car was the easiest part of my ridiculous experience with this dealership. It's after you purchase the vehicle when the fun starts. After insisting that I get my tags through them even though I already had tags I wanted to transfer myself, they seem incapable of actually getting you your tags and title. When you email, you get no response. When you call, they either put you on hold forever until you hang up or they pretend to take a message like they'll call you back. Surprise, no one ever calls back. So now I am ninety days past when I bought my car and still no tags. When I called this morning to speak to the GM about it, he hung up on me. When I called back to confront him about hanging up on me, he got irate, raising his voice and claiming he didn't hang up on me. So now I'm at minute 54 of being on hold while he pretends to go get me an answer. Which I'm sure he won't actually have because no one at this dealership can give you a straight answer about anything. Save yourself the headache and shop elsewhere. read more

Worst car buying experience ever. So many bad things wish I could list all. Top complaints Bought car, paid cash. Going on trip so went to have air in tires, oil checked, etc. The mechanic says 'do not take this car on a road trip especially since its raining because the tires are the wrong size - too small for the car, very dangerous'. They put P185/55R15" tires on car when everywhere it clearly calls for P195/65R/16" tires. Besides that back door won't open from the inside; they made a really big deal of car having 6 speakers, but only 2 work; front mat burned up but they hid it. Turns out they do their own MD inspections. Every time I call either no one calls me back or different person calls and wants me to start over like they don't know. I am seeking action against them. I found this place very frustrating. The sales force we dealt with weren't terrible, but all our problems started when we dealt with the financing office. They sat on their hands for 6 weeks before sending in our plates and paperwork to have our plates traded in. Then they claimed it was DC's fault. Why did they wait 6 weeks? Unexplained reasons. It took my wife and I close to 10 phone calls back and forth between front desk, sales people, financial managers, etc. before we got this resolved. We almost ran out of time on our temporary plates -- made it by one day, literally. This is unprofessional conduct that really ruined our experience with them. Bought a part had to return it, and was told it would take between 5-7 business days and if the funds aren't there to call back. ???? It only took them a matter of minutes to take the funds, why so long to return funds. Had a issues with cashier also, she seemed more interested in her own personal needs rather than the customer, again a long wait. The worst service department ever! I called and explained to them that my 2017 Dodge Charger radio all of a sudden went black totally unacceptable for a year and a half old car! Scheduled an appt for a Tuesday at 7 am just to get their and be told mechanics or whomever does not start until 8am not sure of the point of a 7am appt. Not only was my radio malfunctioning I was also their for a recall and I had hoped to get it all fixed seeing as though people actually have to work for a living. I get their just for them to tell me that they have to order me a radio about an hour later and that it'll be their by Friday. Now that wouldn't have been that big of an issue if I haven't waited already over 2 weeks without my radio, proper use of my AC, no backup camera etc basically the reasons why I purchased the car. So here it's Friday and nobody can tell me why the radio has malfunctioned or even why this part is not readily available since almost EVERYTHING in my car runs through it! Here I am still waiting and the guy whom I talked to seems irritated with me that I'm upset my brand new car is having these type of issues already! Just terrible so unsatisfied! I contacted the service department to request a quote for 70k mile service on my Highlander. The first lady I talked to quoted me around $300 which was outrageous considering the service primarily consists of an oil change and tire rotation. I asked if she was sure she had the right service and she insisted it was correct and then proceeded to summarize the service which was actually the 75k mile service. I told her it was incorrect so she passed me to an advisor who confirmed that she was incorrect but he could not quote a price. I asked him to please correct the service department and I would call again later in the week. When I called back, I receive a quote of $190 which was still far more than other Toyota dealers in the area who were charging $90-$130. Does anyone do a price compare with the competitors to see if what you're offering is even aligned or in the ballpark? I don't know how you stay in business but I took my service to another dealership. My sympathy goes out to the customer service department who is taking the hit from all the issues with this place. They sold a 2012 Tacoma "out from underneath me" while I was awaiting payment information from the sales manager - including the use of a credit card transaction to hold the aforementioned vehicle. I called to check the availability of a car I was looking for at noon. They tell me it's available and we schedule a test drive for 5 pm the same day. At 2 they call me to confirm the appointment and to see if I had any questions regarding the specific car I was looking for. After driving on the highway for about an hour to get there, I arrive at 4 and they tell me they've already sold the car. Without warning or giving me a call about the car having been sold. And incredibly it had been sold within two hours. But of course they tell me they have a selection of new cars they'd like to show me. I left as soon as they said that because I wasn't interested in any new vehicles I wanted a specific pre-owned vehicle and I'd called them about that specific car the same day for a reason. A bit of head's up would have been nice before going all this way. But they clearly don't care enough about courtesy they just wanted me to come in so they could persuade me to buy a new car despite me having already specified what I was looking for. read more

Just the worst! I brought my Prius in because the display unit wasn't working properly and as a result I couldn't adjust the climate controls. I took it in for an estimate for the work and waited three hours and heard nothing. Finally I checked back with the service manager who said he was having trouble reaching anyone who was doing the estimate and would get back to me with an answer the next day. He got sick and I didn't hear back from him for three days. When get finally got back to me he said the cost would be $525 to replace the "head unit." My car is no longer under warranty so that seemed reasonable. I made an appointment and took it in a few days later. After 45 minutes of waiting the service manager informed me that they had actually ordered the wrong parts. They had ordered a new radio unit rather than the entire head unit -- and the actual cost would be $10,000. My car is 9 years old and not worth anything close to that. Service waiting area is disgusting and no wireless (oh...it's down and being repaired...yeah, right). Service folks seems like robots. When we went to look at a used car that same week, the sales guy and his supervisor could not even find it on the lot. Darcars has the worse in my opinion. Sales told you that they can sell you the car for the price, and changed their mind after you went to the shop. The repair will tell you there are problems here and there. When you question them, they cannot give you a good answer. The repair department based on commission which they get more pay for finding fault on your car even there are none. Almost all dealerships are base on commission now-a-day. Very bad. read more

Love my truck, but will absolutely will not ever go back to Darcars. They live up to the stereotype of being cars salesmen there and nothing else. Minor thing but the place was so dirty I felt like I was going to be infected with some sort of disease just being there. They made a clerical error in filing for my license plates so my temp tags expired. Going on 3 weeks with out resolution. I spoke with the salesman who sold me the truck and he did not have a clue. I spoke with the manager and he just lied on several levels. Promised to call me back five different times and never called once. I could not even get the GM on the phone as my temp tags expired. Left 3 messages for the comptroller and never a call back after my temp tags had expired. Spoke with their finance team who "handles" the situation and the said, "Sorry we screwed up but there is nothing we can do. Finally talked to the "office manager" and she promised that she took care of it and was UPSing my tags out as we were speaking for over night delivery. Nothing happened. Still awaiting a solution from them and have contacted my attorney who is suing them for lost wages because I can not get to work on expired tags. read more

My wife and I purchased a Toyota Prius from Darcars Toyota of Silver Spring last week. Our sales rep was Darryl Jefferson and the manager we dealt with was Eric Johnson. Both of them are an asset to Darcars and the follow up of the sales rep Darryl is the reason for this review. Most Dealerships take your money and run, but Darryl shined a light on our experience that set a new standard from the previous car purchases we have made. Darcars, I hope you are grooming him to be a future manager, because he represents your company well. I run my own successful business, but I can always use someone of his caliber. He is articulant, curtious, intelligent, and a definite gem to any growing business. His product knowledge and representation of Darcars was outstanding. My wife noticed a small scratch on the car a couple of days after the purchase and Darryl offered to pick our car up and leave his car for a few hours to have the Prius's scratch buffed at no cost. We even noticed the gas level increased when he returned. He truly gets customer service. I will be referring friends, family, and my entire 60 plus staff of employees to Darcars largely due to his single efforts and the entire Darcars experience. -Jim read more
