My only complaint is that they don't have little lids for the little espresso cups. One of my main hobbies is carrying around small cups so as to make my average sized hands look very large like Ludacris in the "Get Back" music video. I think about that music video a lot as I've wandered aimlessly through adolescence and young adulthood. I always wonder if it's a common feeling to want what even I would think is an obtuse amount of personal space. Or is it just me and ludacris? Why were his hands so big in the video? It is never really explained and the symbolism doesn't immediately make any sense to me... Do you remember in the Blockbuster movie of summer 2003, 2 Fast 2 Furious? Starting Ludacris as Tej Parker? He had a large Afro in that role and I really enjoyed his look overall. But I do have a complaint, in the movie Tej drives many cars but one of which is a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. I've never really liked Dodge trucks, but this one in particular I've always hated. It's a pretty terrible design, If you don't remember I implore you to look it up. Check out the movie too if you are inclined. Dark Moon is kind of like the Fast & Furious franchise I think. I think in a few years one of the baristas might die driving in a Porsche their friend recently purchased, but he will have a pretty cool Supra before that happens, so there's always a silver lining I guess. I went to SEMA last year and I have to say, well, first I'll say it's weird to think back on a memory of being in a closed location with so many other people at once now that coronavirus has created so much space between us all. I guess not a lot has changed for me, I always preferred people stood at least six feet from me and didn't look at the lower half of my face. Anyway my point was there were a lot of new Supras on display and I just didn't like them. Maybe Ludacris' "Get Back" could make a resurgence in this new age, with a new interpretation. Ludacris always seemed like a good guy to me, but maybe he just liked his space. They all seem like it might be like that at Dark Moon, they're happy to see you and help you, but they like their space too. I think all baristas might be like that, like maybe they really love to serve you but they still want to be treated like autonomous adults whose private lives should be private. Or maybe all baristas just have big hands. Either way, five stars. read more

We just love Dark Moon! The staff is beyond amazing, welcoming and friendly!! This time I decided to try their chocolate latte, my husband came back for their dirty chai latte, he just loves it. I've been consistently coming here since they opened. Every time you walk in it's always a welcoming environment. Without a doubt the best cold brew in the valley. Not only is it not acidic but they have two on tap always. The cold brew is ALWAYS consistent. Never watery or off in flavor. The chai is also phenomenal. The perfect amount of spicy and sweet. It asked they'll put vanilla in it as well and that we'll is *chefs kiss* Do they have fancy pants lattes that you'll find at Starbucks? No. But they are consistent in their craft and it shows. This is now my favorite coffee roaster and coffee sitting experience in the Vegas area. I still love PublicUS for their fusion of coffee and great dining and also mothership for referring me to dark moon but if we talk purely about great coffee and finding baristas who can speak intelligently about their beans, roasting, and brewing process, I haven't found better. Upon walking in, I was warmly welcomed by staff who were ready to entertain my questions and involve me in their process completely through delivering the cup to my hands. I had been told this place is a man cave which led me to expect it was grungy but it is quite the contrary. Masculine, yes, but I found it to be very clean, modern, and well decorated. I tried their pour over coffees and found them to be well extracted and very palatable. I ended up buying a bag to take home to Salt Lake City. Here's hoping I can extract the flavors as well as they do. We also tried a couple of their drought beers and found them both very tasty. See the photos for my picks and recommendations. i love coffee and i tried the el salvadorian pour over, they use a flat cone that gives the coffee more body, the barista did a circle pour from the outside to the inside for the bloom, stirred for agitation and for the second pour they used a melo dripper, which i appreciate and you dont really see too often, plus i like watching the water droplets slowly hit. the coffee itself was a pungent floral with sweet juiciness and a finish reminiscent of yemeni beans that have this cocoa red wine after taste, very well crafted. the staff is super kind and the space is that cold modern wood and cool tones juxtaposed by a color changing neon sign and late 2010s hip hop, very chill vibe. read more

I don't normally write reviews but felt like I needed to with this place. So many people would recommend this place to me but I was honestly not impressed. I love exploring new local coffee shops! Rather go to these places than Starbucks. But, for one this place wasn't as welcoming as I thought it would be? It was quiet, with no music. Felt like I was intruding on them closing but I came in around 5:45pm ish on a Sunday (today). I always get an iced matcha with chai + oat milk + honey or agave! But they couldn't accommodate the added chai (it's usually a scoop, idc if they charge for it). Every place I've ever went to never gave me a difficult time or said no? And I was once told that any place can make it, it's if the barista chooses not to. I was little bummed out about it and was okay with my just matcha. But as I was tasting it -- Felt like it wasn't made properly??? Why am I having clumps of matcha in my mouth? Every 2 minutes I'm having to mix it so it wouldn't get clumpy? Never had this issue before. Had high expectations. Nice place to study though. Just wouldn't come back here again. read more

Not only did they never answer the phone (they don't have one), but I also drove 30 minutes to come here for a bag of coffee, only to find out they decided to close early today at 4:20 pm. The guy inside, with a horrible attitude, opened the door for me and told me they are sorry, but I can't buy the bag of coffee because he is counting the register. 5am flight from SFO to LVS before a 4 hour drive to the Grand Canyon? Dark Moon to the rescue!! Truly a local brew shop with properly slow-dripped coffee. The nuances and individual tasting notes of the Costa Rican Natural really stood out. A blend of Costa Rica, Honduras espresso made for a delightful iced mocha also. Wonderful service, very personable staff and overall a great space with the rich smell of coffee. They also sell coffee mocktails and cold brew in cans, to-go! We do wish they didn't use plastic for serving their drinks for the road, but at least it's thick plastic that can be reused again during our road trip. Such a great find, so glad we stumbled on this spot. read more

My family and I were underwhelmed by our entire experience at DMCR. First off, they appeared understaffed as there was only one person handling both the register and bar. I ordered a decaf latte with oat milk. My daughter was next and ordered a half- caf latte, and the cashier/barista abruptly told her they don't make that. So if you've ever read one of my reviews, you will know I LOVE coffee. Like the way some people like steak or lobster...I love coffee. My coffee snob husband and I were visiting one of my offices in the area and decided we'd check Dark Moon out. I was thrilled to see that they open earlier than most coffee spots, (don't get me started on why many open at 8 or 9!! I mean coffee is a morning delicacy, imo). Anyway, the barista was still sleepy from the night before as he told me when I said "Good morning, how are you" and he proceeded to tell me "tired". I reminded him that he works at a place that specializes in keeping him awake. He said it doesn't work on him anymore. Wtfe, dude. Anyway, we ordered 2 iced oatmilk lattes. I will say they were good but they took FOREVER!!! Someone came in after us and the barista knew him so he made his drink first. The coffee was almost bitter but not quite. The oatmilk was really good! And best part, they have simple syrup!!! Something I feel all great coffee shops should offer. Would we come back for another drink? Yes, yes we would. Would I drive across town just for a drink? No. There were little to no pastries out yet as it was 7:15 so maybe they hadn't been delivered yet? Oh! Another new coffee spot in the neighborhood! I decided to check this place out from Yelping new coffee spots. I was automatically greeted with a friendly greeting when I walked in up to the counter. I was asked if I wanted to enjoy a beverage and I had my eye on the matcha latte from the start! I asked for a hot matcha latte with oat milk (ask for sweeter, unless you like it watery & matcha) and enjoyed it in the cute barstool bar setup. They do have limited seating if you want sit down and plug away to do work at a table station, but the bar does have various plugs underneath for charging your laptop. Came here just on a whim, love trying different coffee shops and this one seemed cool as it's also a brewery! As soon as you walk in, on your right will be their merch (hats, shirts, sweaters, glassware and coffee bags) also will be a small refrigerator that has canned cold brews, in front is where you order at the counter, also a small pastry display, and on the left is the seating area. I wasn't sure what to get especially because I don't drink coffee, I asked the barista what they recommended, asked what I like and was offered the Passion Elixir. I was also a little hungry, and the cinnamon roll looked amazing! The cinnamon roll is pretty big, good enough for two people or someone who's really hungry, I believe it had crushed walnuts on top, and the cinnamon roll icing throughout was delicious, not overly sweet and brown sugar evenly distributed. I loved how crispy and flaky it was on the outside and soft on the inside. Now for the drink, the passion elixir is a very refreshing drink, the matcha is earthy, the yuzu is citrusy and fresh, and the simple syrup is tangy and little sweet. For starters we came at 9:30 on a Monday and their open sign wasn't on so we weren't even sure if they were open. We saw someone walk out and took that as a sign that it was open. We walked in and they seemed friendly from the start but I then I mentioned that there open sign wasn't on and the guy was like "yeah, I didn't feel like turning it on." I went in this business a couple of days ago after a long day needing a caffeine fix. I was kindly greeted by an employee. I knew they were close to closing so I told said employee that I'd never been there, I normally drink an Americano and asked what their favorite drink was to speed up ordering They responded with cold brew lemonade. I said ok, figuring this was something easy and fast for them to make. Whomever invented this drink is a sadist as is the employee that recommended it. It tastes like a Sour Patch kid went on a week long bender indulging in nothing but Taco Bell and ever clear then defecated in a plastic cup filled with ice. 0/10 would not recommend Sour Patch kid feces or a business that would intentionally charge nearly $8 to torture customers. It was so bad I felt compelled to write this review after waking up from a dream about how bad it was. read more

Hands down the best coffee in Vegas. When I say coffee. I mean that, coffee. Not a milkshake with caffeine and a hint of muddy stale coffee added. (Don't get me wrong, there is nothing awful about a nice sugary white mocha, but that's a different category from coffee). This right here is true passionate coffee making. Dark Moon regularly rotates a fantastic selection of well curated beans from the best regions in the world. All single origin variety (as far as I know) are small batch roasted in house regularly. The make essentially a perfect pour over, and usually have 2-3 cold brew options on top (usually 1 nitro). They also do a variety of specialty drinks and seasonal favorites that are extremely elevated. However, with such respect for these delicious beans it is hard for me to steer away from anything but a pure cup of coffee here. They also have a great selection of beer and wine. The staff is extremely personable and knowledgeable about what they are doing. It's obvious that each barista goes through a rigorous training process and truly appreciates the art of coffee at every step of creation. It's always a good day when I know I'm getting some Dark Moon in my life. read more
