First experience dealing with DW Subaru, and their team was very professional and friendly during the test drive process. We really liked the car but they didn't really seem too interested in negotiating their price, so we couldn't work a deal with them on the car. We ended up ordering an identical (except color) new BRZ from a dealer in Oklahoma and got it shipped to our home for less then their "best deal". Not sure why they were so intent on playing hard ball on their car. My advice...shop prices before going to DW Subaru, you will probably find a normally advertised price lower than their "discounted" prices. Terrible. Had to go back multiple times for a recall because even after telling them exactly what was going on with the vehicle, they didn't have the part at the time of my appointment. They told me it'd take a week for the part to come in, but it took longer. When it finally came in, I scheduled an appointment for the early morning. They said it'd take 2-4 hours. By the afternoon, I hadn't heard anything so I called and they said the car still hadn't been serviced yet and they meant "it'd take 2-4 hours once we had time". Horrible communication, horrible expectations set, horrible customer service. We will be finding another Subaru dealership to service our car next time. read more

I visited Darrell Waltrip in search for a pre-owned Subaru. I had an appointment with a salesperson who happened to be occupied at the time of my arrival. A less than enthusiastic young lady at the front desk paired me up with Lyle. That's where the experience started. If this were a review about Lyle, you'd see 5 stars up there. He seems to genuinely care to hear what you're asking and provides great information on the inventory on the lot. He was thorough in answering my other questions. It took 2 days to do the recall that I had an appointment for and then when they said the car was ready I still waited 1 hour!! I bought my Subaru here in 2012 and had good service up until last year and forward. The wait time for simple things like oil changes are a lot longer. You now have to make appointments, you didn't in the past. My last oil change was not done well. My new oil filter was sitting a pool of the old oil when I looked under the hood. The next oil change reminder sticker they put on the window on my last visit on 03/03/2017 even had 03/2018 and about 600 miles less that what should of been there. I had heard last year that they had lost a lot of their mechanics, it sure shows it. Don't trust them and won't go back again! read more

I recently purchased a new car from the Darrell Waltrip Subaru dealership, who sent me a review about the sales service. I was unable to give a rave review for two reasons: First, there was no option to take the car on a true test drive. I had a salesperson in the back seat constantly talking, and only wanting me to take the car on a preset route, which made me think something might be wrong with the car. This nearly caused me to back out of buying it. Second, the money guy insisted that it wasn't possible to transfer my specialty veteran tag, since it was less than 90 days from expiration. I will note here that I waited until the month the tag expired so transferring would save me a trip to the dmv and the inspection place. But no - the dealership guy insisted it was not even legal to do that. He also said if I refused to let them take care of the tag, I would have to get an inspection then go to the DMV, so it would cosst more. I wasn't happy, but went along with it. The following week, I went to the DMV, who told me yes it is perfectly possible to transfer it - even if you do it the DAY the tag EXPIRES. After several calls to the dealership, where I kept "missing" the people I needed, I spoke to the manager, who said that their POLICY was not to do transfers because of mistakes made in the past slowing down people getting their tags. His reasoning made little sense and spoke of inefficiency, but I thanked him for explaining why. After we hung up I noticed I had a missed call. It was from the lovely lady that handles titling. She said of course you can transfer the tag. What is your current number? Do you still have the tag? She then proceeded to type up the transfer and mail it to me. A short trip to the DMV and voila! Transferred tag. Oh - and no inspection required on a new car that I had less than 90 days. So - super kudos to the DMV, bah humbug to Darrell Waltrip Subaru. Note - I did get a refund check from Darrell Waltrip Subaru for the titling fees. read more

Best service I have ever received anywhere!!! They went above and beyond to help me and make sure my subaru was fixed. I had previously gone to the subaru on broadway in Nashville but they never fixed the issue and didn't seem to know what the issue was. We recently bought a 2020 Subaru Outback at Darrell Waltrip Subaru. Colt Revard, our salesperson, was excellent, and patient. While we each have had a Subaru for the past 20 years, my husband now drives most of the time, since I have trouble with my back, Colt took us around to the various makes and models to find the passenger seat that worked best for me. Colt was attentive to all details that interested us and we felt no pressure. We are older and Colt was extremely helpful with all the new technology and safety features. I've been taking my Forester to Darrell Waltrip Subaru for service for 6 years. The service center is great and I'm glad I own a Subaru and can get service here. They keep up with the scheduled service for me and they really know Subarus, of course. If you schedule larger jobs you can get a loaner, and for shorter jobs, they make sure you know how long you'll wait and follow up if there's a significant delay. They even helped me to get reimbursement for a repair that wasn't covered under warranty, but should have been. They really look out for their customers. read more

I started with an online chat & was taken care of quickly & efficiently. Then I received a call from the Sales Manager Steve inquiring what we were interested in? We have been taking our Legacy here since we moved to Tennessee 3 years ago. The guys are really reliable and friendly, they always do a good job. Never any worries about them pushing unnecessary work. We absolutely love our Subaru and look forward to owning more in the future and bringing them here. Really fast and friendly service. If you live between the Franklin Subaru and the downtown Subaru, come to the Franklin one. The couple times we have been downtown we are always left standing around for at least a half hour or more to even talk to someone, it's incredibly annoying. Great service! Ryan was very patient. He listed out every item needed for my mileage maintenance check and explained what it was for. He also helped figure out if I needed an item asap, or if it was something I could wait on (to help spread out the cost and make it easier on my budget). I really appreciated his transparency and honesty. Jeff and Ryan helped me with my eBrake sensor problem, also. This involved some extra work and logistics, so I greatly appreciate them going above and beyond to get the issue fixed. Before I left, another staff member came outside with me and was on the ground in the 20 degree winter weather, showing how to manually adjust my ebrake if it ever by chance got stuck. This was while he was in the middle of working on something else, so I appreciate his willingness to help. Now that I'm back in the Nashville area, I'll continue to take my Subaru here. Sure, there may be a slight "dealership markup", but when Ryan listed out the prices, they were competitive with local shops (I sat with the list for a day and compared before agreeing to anything). Let me start by saying that I purposefully avoid going to a certain dealership that is only 15 min away and would rather drive 35 minutes to a dealership of my choice because of poor customer service I received at the closer dealership. After visiting the Darrel Waltrip Honda for a recall (dealership of choice), we happened to visit the Subaru dealership next door that is under the same ownership. And what a pleasant surprise! We had a pleasure of meeting Michael Goyer who gave us an outstanding service and demonstrated genuine care that is missing from sales people as of late. His no pressure attitude resulted in us getting a brand new Outback which we were planning to buy months later. We recently purchased a 2008 Subaru Tribeca. We immediately started to have dash indicator lights go off and wanted to figure out the issue. We brought it in thinking it would be a pretty simple fix, but found out that it would cost over $4500. We purchased this vehicle because it was affordable and, just having had a baby that spent some time in the NICU, our available finances are low due to medical expenses. The service advisor was awesome! He is working with us to get the work done and to help make the repairs easier to afford. We are hoping to complete this work in the near future. Unfortunately, our experience this time was the polar opposite, and what we found instead was a total lack of honesty and willingness to deal in good faith, and in summary an arrogant attitude which holds contempt for anyone with even a modicum of common sense, who has done any research on their own. The vibe was, "Hey, if you don't want to make a deal only an idiot would make, we've got lots of idiots who will." At the outset, I wish to make clear that this review should not cast any fault whatsoever on our saleslady, who was informed about her product and Sabaru as a company, and was friendly and professional. Simply put, as far as we were concerned, her only fault was working for the wrong dealership. Otherwise, the whole "process" seems to have been created by someone who attended too many "all customers are alike, and alike means stupid" sales seminars. Sales managers stand behind some barricade, and you are "assigned" to particular people. The young guy who was our sales manager seemed to have a smug arrogance about him, borne of past experience getting people to pay actual or very close to MSRP for a vehicle which is being discounted at many other dealers (more on that later), and accept anything he was willing to pay for your trade. For demographics purposes, my wife and I are an attorney and accountant, respectively, and their outright dishonesty and lack of good faith in dealing not only insulted our intelligence, but did not sit well, so much so that we literally got up and walked out. Specifically, the sales manager wanted us badly to make the first move in negotiations, and declare how much we wanted for our trade, and how much we'd give for his vehicle (in our case, a Subaru Outback 2016, with the '17s soon to be on the way into dealerships). In our minds, game playing started at that point, and we did not expect the situation to end well. We don't make the first move (and you should never do that, either!) when dealing with a business which wants to sell you a car, in much the same way as a private seller on craigslist tells you what he wants to start the negotiation process. When we declined to play that game and my wife asked the sales manager to basically make the first move, he sarcastically came with, "MY car's price is on the window [sticker]". We allowed them to value our potential trade-in, a 2011 BMW 535i with rare manual transmission, almost totally maxed out on the options list, all of which still work perfectly, and in near perfect condition to have 82k miles on the odo. Then, after our sales lady went on KBB to value it in our presence (no dealer will give you an "excellent" rating for trade-in purposes, so we looked at "very good"), our car was valued for trade-in purposes from anywhere in the mid-18k to mid-20k range. The sales consultant then brought back the sales manager's proposal sheet to us after drove the car (of note, he didn't bother to come talk to us himself). He offered no discount whatsoever on the new unit we were considering, and offered somewhere in the 14k range for our trade, based several absolutely wrong claims: first, that the car had been wrecked (it hadn't; and if he wanted to pull the Carfax on it, he could easily have done so with the VIN#; perhaps touch-up paint on two small rock chips counts as having been in an accident at this dealership?); second, that the car had "the small engine" (if you know your BMWs, you know that the 535i, by definition, has only one engine, but that the entire non-M 5 Series range included 3 engines for that year model, a naturally aspirated inline 6 in the 528i; the turbocharged version of the same engine in the 535i; and the V-8 version in the 540i); and that no one wants a manual (also not true for this particular car, as this is the very last year BMW ever offered a manual in the 5 Series and BMW dealers, at least, have tried to buy the car off me for several years). The amount offered for the trade was below the lowest level in the range for KBB "fair," and appeared to have been taken from the NADA "rough" category, which was the equivalent of an insult to our intelligence. Even if the truth was DW didn't want to take my trade to auction, or for whatever reason just didn't want it, they should have just told me something like, "I don't want to insult your intelligence. I can't give you what it's worth. You could get a lot more if you sell it yourself. Can we still try to see if we can reach a deal on a straight purchase on our vehicle?" This left only two possibilities: the sales manager was dumb enough to believe he'd made a fair offer, or far more likely, he was just lying, and hoping we'd be dumb enough to accept the type of lies he'd told others. I take my car here when I'm in Nashville and they're always efficient if lacking that particular Nashville-area Southern charm I've come to expect, however, they've screwed up basic services multiple times and, once, when I requested a full car inspection and service, managed to overlook the fact that my brake pads were so worn down that the car began to shudder immediately upon driving off of their lot. But, it's convenient to have this dealership in Franklin, as a sometimes resident, instead of having to drive all the way downtown and wait around half the day, you can wait 1-2 hours and be on your merry way--or have them conveniently drop you at work in the AM and pick you up in the PM. read more

After a good bit of researching the specs of the Subaru Outback and an excellent test drive at another dealership I was sold on the Outback. I came to Darrell Waltrip because they had the exact car I wanted in their stock. Mark, the sales associate that I worked with couldn't have been more professional. He provided me with another test drive of the car I was actually purchasing. He was very knowlegeable about the car and took his time to show me all of the features. He was pleasant, interesting and easy to work with. I knew when I walked in the dealership that day that if the car I wanted was still in stock that I'd be going home with it. Negotiations on price were fine, the process was just a bit longer than I wanted it to take, but that's the case with every car that I've purchased. The dealership is extremely clean and neat and caters to their clientele. I look forward to my service visits because they have taken the time to create an excellent waiting space for their customers. read more

I've been doing business with Darrell Walthrip Subaru for 6 or 7 years. I bought a new Outback from them, and had my wife's Legacy serviced there. They've been good especially with the reasonably priced oil change coupons they offer. A week or so ago, I took a $29.95 coupon in for a usually oil change that I always upgrade to the synthetic oil option. I also wanted another alignment. Last year, I paid $89 for the alignment and about $40 for the oil change. This year, they wanted to charge me $80 for the oil change and like $170 for the alignment. When I protested, the service clerk named Rob, said that they had had some price increases. I said that increases of almost 100% were outrageous. Rob offered to mark down the oil change to +/- $40 and the oil change to like $120. I reluctantly approved it, but when I went to pick up my vehicle none of the discounts were registered. Good thing I check it because I almost just assumed that he had done it correctly. They also recommended that I consider over $1,000 in additional service work that I declined either because these items had already been done by other service centers or because they were outrageously priced. This is typically why dealerships don't get my service work. I probably won't be back there for service. read more

This was the worst dealership I've ever been to. I own the nicest car Subaru makes, and the service department was still absolutely unacceptable. The service advisor was a complete joke, overcharged for absolutely everything, and did not keep me updated at all. The work was supposed to take less than 1 day, but they kept the car for 4. I had to call them everyday, get put on hold and transferred multiple times, to get a disappointing update on the status of my car. This dealerships customer service was not just poor, it was absolutely horrid. I would give 0 stars if I could. Do not take your car here for service, I will drive out of my way to find another dealer who cares about customer satisfaction. 0/10. read more

I can't get in touch with the service department to schedule an appointment. I leave a voicemail and no one calls me back. I call the parts department and they transfer me over to the service department just to be hung up on. I call the operator to transfer me to the service department only to be hung up on again. This is by far the worst dealership I've been to and I'm ashamed I bought my car from them brand new. I keep having the same issues break with my 2016 fit and they say they "fixed the problem" and a couple months pass and I have the same issues. Their customer service is very low. They interrupt you and transfer you before you can finish your sentence. They seem annoyed at all times. All I want is my car to work properly. I shouldn't have so many reoccurring issues. It should be a one time fix especially for a car that's two years old and has had only one owner in it's life span that only takes it to the dealership to get everything done including new tires. Each time it breaks they tell me not to be so hard on my car. It's a fit! I only drive it to work and back. I'm two miles from my work. There is no driving it hard in the city. I'm so over them and blaming me for any issues that come up with the car. read more

I recently made an appointment to get my car serviced at this dealership. When I arrived I was told it would take two/three hours before my car would get taken back. I was bothered by this. Mainly that I had an appointment and was still out on back burner (or at least that was how I felt) due to the influx of walk-in appointments. After a phone call or two I eventually talked to the service manager who was friendly and understanding. I rescheduled my appointment for a couple of days later. Keep in mind I drive 1.5 hours just to get to this dealership. When I arrived I was treated kindly and professionally. Not only did I get my car serviced but a complementary wash. The service manager went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. I will be back! read more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!! Went there to buy a new car and walked around for 20 minutes before a maintenance man asked if we needed help. He went to get a sales person and we wait another 10 minutes no one came out. We had to go into the dealership to ask for help. Tet drove a car and was going to buy it with the trade in we had. When my husband called a few days latter to see if the car was still available, the salesman was to call him back. Waited and waited, no phone call. My husband decided to drive down (1 1/2 hour drive) and no one could tell him where the car was or whether it was sold. Rude and wasted both of our time. Will buy a new car within the next week but SURELY NOT from Darrell Waltrip Subaru. As they say...bad word of mouth travels far faster than any good word! Stay clear of this dealership! read more
