Wanted to support a local business during the stay at home order. I've seen this sushi place down the street from me but haven't had the chance to stop by yet. They're offering free delivery on some third party delivery services at this time, so I thought why not? I haven't had sushi in a long time and was definitely craving some after looking at their yelp pictures. I ordered the Luffy Combo (bonus points for the One Piece reference! My One Piece fans, they also have a Sabo and an Ace combo!), Spicy Garlic Albacore Roll, Teriyaki Beef Plate, and a side of Shrimp Tempura. Everything was delicious and nicely portioned for the price point! My favorite nigiri piece from the combo was the salmon with crunchy garlic on top, I'm drooling just thinking about it. I was already full from just the nigiri and half of the albacore roll, and my boyfriend had cleaned the plate of teriyaki beef and shrimp tempura. tldr; The food was sent out quick, nice portions, good prices, delicious food and fresh fish. Cute, cozy neighborhood place, with great service! Love that we could mosey on in (starving, nonetheless) and plopped down after a long day. We were greeted and offered something to drink immediately! They have good size combos for our ferocious appetites. :) no wimpy sized scoops of rice here! These are real scoops (cereal bowl size scoop)! Combo meals are served with salad topped yummy ginger dressing and a bowl of miso soup on the side. Tonight a roll combo: spicy tuna, crunch roll, and California roll. The other combo: beef teriyaki - tender marinated pieces of melt in your mouth happinesses with the juices. Oh ya, and that huge scoop of rice! In addition, fresh hot gyoza ( though the dipping bowl is a bit small) - still delightful. We will definitely return to try all the different sushi and sashimi. Service & Ambiance: I've came to Daru Sushi Multiple times and I am a parent of a 2 and a half year old and have always brought her a happy meal while me and my Wife eat Daru. Today 09/21/24 we were told for the FIRST time that we can't let her eat outside food because "if she was to choke on her outside food they can be held liable". As a parent I'm very disappointed what if she was a newborn eating applesauce would we not be allowed to feed her?!?! I really hope the owner reads this and does something about it. What happened to this place? The quality and portion size of the sushi rolls went down. I ordered through Door dash recently and the presentation of the sushi rolls has changed significantly. I (use to) like this place, always my go to since it's local to me. I enjoy the Big Dog, Cucumber Special Roll and Jalapeno Tempura. BUT .... I was recently discouraged by one of their actions. I had ordered take out and when I got there my son (last minute) asked to eat there instead. As I paid for my take out I had asked if we could just take our Take Out and eat here instead. The host said yes, and then 1 minute later her superior came over and said I could not do that. I needed to take my Take Out and leave. I respectfully asked why? And she said it's first come first serve. I looked around, there was no lines and no one waiting. Only 3-4 families already seated and there were approximately 4-5 opens tables. I then said/asked, but nobody is waiting for a table and if she could elaborate "first come first serve". She the said it's just a policy they have for takeout. If they allowed me to eat there then they would have to do it for everyone. That was really weird, but it's their business so I took my food and left. I wasn't asking for them to "re-plate" my take out .... and I would have still tipped just as a courtesy. I just figured if it was slow or there was multiple open space their would be some exception or above service but NOPE. That turned me off and I'm questioning if I want to even come back now. Left a sour taste in my mouth. So, if you order Take out ... you MUST take out lol! read more

My family are novice sushi eaters meaning we stick to the popular familiar fish such as salmon and yellowtail. We do eat tuna but it can taste and smell fishy at most roll places. But not here. Our favorite is the ultimate salmon roll. The citrus flavor brightens and wakes up your palate. And their pricing is unbeatable. Where an average premium roll can cost 14 dollars, it's about a couple dollars lower here. It took me three visits and now I am a fan. read more

Great, most delicious sushi I have ever had. Even the simple rolls are next level (like the spicy tuna and california roll). The location is really small and they mostly do take out orders but it is SO much better dining in. Worth it. The owner is very kind and we always feel welcomed and attended to. What originally brought us over is the One Piece theme they had going with their specials and when we went inside, noticed the One Piece figurines and manga.
