    The beginnings of our meal

This tiny restaurant is our new favorite place to dine for sushi. We have been to many throughout the years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The building looks quite old but tables and utensils are always clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Server and chef very attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment you walk in feels like you're dropping in a tiny shop in japan.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My teens like their anime decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also really like their cocktails. Would be a nice addition if they served deep fried ice cream.

The lunch deal here is extremely worth it! For like $11, they give you rice and reasonable amount of protein. The rolls are also good. I liked the sushi taco the most. It's crispy taco but the wrap was crispy seaweed and inside was fresh tuna and salmon! Great adaptation to SoCal. It's super delicious and affordable.

Food was too good to even wait to take a photo of it

As much as I want to gatekeep this place, I'm sharing because they deserve all the love and attention. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First off, I love the theme of One Piece throughout the restaurant, helps me feel like I'm with my people![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You're immediately greeted when you walk in and it was empty when we came in (Saturday around 4:30), but as we sat and ate, while watching Star Wars being played on their TV, more people came in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They all seemed to have a relationship already built with them, which was really nice to see because that means they have built trust within their community. Okay, on to the important stuff, THE FOOD. I got the Yellowtail Carpaccio and The Vinsmoke Roll while my boyfriend got the Tempura Udon and Baby Lobster Roll. Everything was a 10/10, no notes, and I kid you not, I actually shed a tear from how good the food was. You could tell everything was fresh and well prepared. Definitely my new favorite sushi spot! Sorry, we were hungry and the food was wayyyy too good for us to take a photo of the before

Just discovered this place!! Omg this is our go to sushi spot AMAZING!!!!! Never going anywhere else in bellflower

    Luffy Special

This place is a small little local restaurant in Bellflower. I was looking for good quality sushi and I highly recommend visiting if you want simply, fresh sushi. I think the carpaccio selection is what makes this sushi place different than other casual sushi places around. The yellowtail carpaccio is fresh and has flavorful sauce. I also ordered the Luffy Special which came with 5 nigiri and a spicy tuna roll. The actual rolls and nigiri are comparable to other mid-tier sushi places around. The nigiri kind of fell apart when holding it with chopsticks. Nothing really stood out, but it's still good. If anything, I recommend the carpaccio over anything else.

I always enjoy eating at smaller establishments especially when the food is delicious and yes, you can add Daru Sushi to that list. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a very intimate location with seating for approx 20 people but the food quality and variety can go toe to toe with much larger sushi restaurants.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Today we went a variety of items including spicy garlic edamame, seared tuna, salmon carpaccio, and volcano roll to name a few. All items were very good and the fish all tasted fresh. As a bonus, Thursdays are buy one beer get one for $1!! You can also find different specials every day that may or may not be on the regular menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, chill ambiance, good food, but if they're busy you can wait a while for your food to come out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But hey if it's good food, then I don't mind. Prices are very competitive so come on out and give this place a try!!

Came with some friends to try this place. I would have never known about this place if it wasn't for my friend since I've probably driven past it and never known.. [[HIGHLIGHT]]this is a cute little spot with awesome and friendly staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Once you walk in we were welcomed by staff.. we got the scallop roll, salmon carpaccio, tuna poke bowl, tiger roll and Causky roll which was their special at the time. Food was delicious all around.. Will definitely come back.

    Epic sushi goodness!

We love Daru Sushi! My colleague and I go at least once a week and it is the best sushi spot in the area! Sam and Scott are the absolute best at what they do. The service and food are always on point!

Nice local sushi joint. Located on a busy street with parking on the sides, very clean and bright interior. They offer a great bento box lunch special and they are very generous with their protein! We also ordered the sushi taco which is real nori coated in tempura as the taco shell. My recommendation -- get the spicy sushi taco!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a pretty good small "hole in the wall" sushi place in Bellflower.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not the best you'll fine but for the price point, it's not bad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is not that big and not meant for big parties.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking can be a little tricky as they have a small lot for 3 cars to the right of the restaurant and some spots to the left next to the liquor store. As for the food: garlic edamame was a great way to start things off. The mixed tempura was surprisingly very good. The batter was light and not too oily. The other appetizers like the popcorn chicken and calamari rings were okay. The octopus and yellowtail carpaccios were on-point and very good. The tonkotsu ramen wasn't bad but they only give you thicker piece of chashu. I ordered a second side piece of meat. It does come with a full egg and the broth was good, not too heavy and the noodles were done just right. As for the rolls, they're decent...a little on the narrow side but had a good amount of fish and ingredients in each roll. Service was friendly and attentive. If you're in the area and looking for a reasonably priced Japanese sushi place that won't break the bank, I'd stop by again.

Inside decor, I'm right up against the entrance door.

Ask the Community - Daru Sushi

Is there all you can eat sushi? If there is how much does it cost?

Hello, C.J.! Sorry but we are NOT an AYCE. Thank you :)

    Do you have sushi platters?

Sorry, we do not have sushi platters.

Do you by any chance have a nutrition facts menu?

We apologize but we do not have a nutrition facts menu.

Is there a menu online for the rolls? I don't see one.

Yes, the most recent menu is available in the Main Photo section. It's the very first one there.

    Did this place close down?

No, we are open and actively running under new ownership. However, if you came during our break hours, the restaurant will be empty, as all our employees will be gone to take a break. Please check our business hours. Thank you.

    Is this an AYCE sushi?

I don't think it is, I haven't seen it posted on the menu or on the wall menu. However, it is good food and the portions are good size and the price is reasonable, i do recommend it.

Is it possible to get anything without rice? I really want that mini lobster roll or even just the spicy crab with no rice but still wrapped in seaweed.

    Yes they can

While the price of a bowl is somewhat reasonable and the food does come out quickly, the service overall was great but could use a slight improvement. Throughout my meal I could hear multiple patrons flag down a server to refill their water. Remember, you're serving dishes that contain spices and some people's heat and spice tolerances are different from others so it's no suprise they're going to consume large amounts of water to cool down. It would be more convenient if the servers walked around with a water pitcher (ice cold preferably instead of lukewarm water) and check if any of the patrons needed refills. This would be an exemplary service that any restaurant should follow. Now the bowl itself that they serve the ramen in can be deceiving. While the bowls look large from above and the broth looks abundant, the base of the bowl is actually very narrow and therefore the serving size is significantly smaller than your normal serving at another ramen establishment. They intentionally do this to serve less broth. The fact that they use a large mouth bowl with a narrow base to "stretch out" their broth is a huge red flag and is definitely not worth the price. Now you may read this and say, "You're paying for the noodles, not the soup!" If you truly know ramen and the art behind it, the noodles isn't what makes the dish; it's the broth. The broth is the foundation and adds depth to the entire dish whether it's from the stock, the seasoning, or the oils, each component is what truly makes up ramen, not just the noodles. It's clear the design of the bowl is flawed and what's even more obvious is they serve just enough broth that measure right below their establishment's name on the bowl. I understand they do this for aesthetics but in the culinary world, if you're going to sacrifice quantity for art, save that for fine dining, not a noodle shop.

ATTENTION!!! THIS CLASS 302 IN DOWNEY **IS NOT** LIKE THE CLASS 302 IN CERRITOS!…read moreThere is no shaved ice, there are no waffles, and Downey is self-serve drinks while Cerritos makes the drinks for you. Their food menus differ, as well. With that being said, this Class 302 is closer to my house, so it's frequented more. I probably would have made this a 5 star review, but I haven't tried enough of their food or drinks to make a sound judgement. While I can tolerate spicy foods, in my day and age now, spicy foods aren't a good look for me sometimes. I like how I can opt out of the spice here. I've had the Pork Bone Noodle soup and the Miso Udon soup, both are delicious. They both come spicy and in different degrees of spicy, but, again, I opt out of the spice. Their popcorn chicken also comes in different degrees of spicy, and I've tried the no-spice, and 1st degree (??) level of spicy. The popcorn chicken does have a distinct flavor to it, maybe it's Chinese 5 spice (?), I'm not sure. It took some getting used to, but my twins love the popcorn chicken from here. The fried basil they add to it is a nice touch of flavor. I'd probably choose the fried pork chop over the popcorn chicken, flavor wise. The pork chop is topped with cilantro and served with their house made sweet chili sauce. I guess the secret to their self-serve drinks is to use to slushes in lieu of the ice so that your drink isn't watered down. Now, there are instructions on how to self-serve your drinks here: *Order the size of drink you'd like (small, medium, or large). *Ask for a sample cup if you're not sure what to get. *Add your boba and other fillings first (fruit, egg tart, popping boba, lychee jelly, Oreo crumbs, etc.) *Choose your drink combinations and fill your cup carefully. *If you're gonna add toppings after you fill your cup with your drink, leave some space for said topping. *If there's some overflow of your drink, you might be asked to drink some of your drink or it will be poured out into a sample cup. Your drink can't seal properly if it's not flush with the top of the cup. *You might have to wait a minute for your cup to be sealed because Other Patrons. I always add one scoop of boba, and have tried the following combinations: *Coconut Slush-Ube Slush-Coconut Slush-Lychee Jelly *Coconut Slush-Pineapple Passion Slush-Lychee Jelly *Coconut Slush-Mango Berry-Pineapple Passion-Lychee Jelly *Pineapple Passion-Hisbiscus Tea *Coconut Slush-Thai Tea My twins choose a combination of the Strawberry Cream Slush, Horchata Slush, and Coconut Slush. They'll add Oreo cookie crumbles sometimes, too. I'm a fan of Jasmine Milk Tea, but when I tried it here, it wasn't Jasmine'ing like I'm used to, so I don't get it here. There's a good mix of ages/generations, families vs. couples vs. friend groups vs. solo diners, and while it can get packed it doesn't last for long. I've Shazam'd some music here so the playlists are pretty good. We're always greeted with a "Hi, Welcome!" when we walk thru the doors, so staff is pretty cool. Oh, the door can be heavy to open because of the AC on. We've always had some seats to sit on whilst waiting for our food to-go. Parking close by is a usual occurrence, but this shop is nestled in a very busy shopping/restaurant center.
