I have good luck for 2024! Ate here on New Year's Day and the food was amazing! It took 35 minutes between parking and leaving, an amazingly quick turnaround. It wasn't dead either, there were plenty of patrons in the place coming and going. Food and service were top tier. Amazing schnitzel, sauerkraut, sauerkraut balls, potato salad, and jagerschnitzel. We had a reservation for a large group, unfortunately our tables weren't ready and we had to wait 15 minutes for the set up. They jammed us into a too small space, chairs were lined up so close, they were touching with no way to get in or out without completely pulling the chairs away and crawling over another chair into the chair. We placed our food and drink order together and waited 45 minutes for our drinks and another 15 minutes later our food arrived. The food has never disappointed, generous portions, hot and delicious. We've been here before with small group and everything has been fine. I would not recommend for a large group. read more

While the food was really good the service (food wise) was slow as molasses. We ordered one dish to share and a kids meal as well as a pretzel and two glasses of wine. It took a good minute for the food and drinks to come out. Our waters, kids lemonade and bread with butter came relatively quick. After that it was a hot mess. We waited and waited and waited. Our server (didn't catch his name) was very nice and extremely apologetic. We were a bit annoyed as the pretzel app we ordered hadn't come out. We got the wurst platter plate which is different sausages and kraut. We also ordered a side of German potato salad. The food was really good. My friends daughter got chicken strips haha you know kids. Anyway our food came out first. We split the dish and they were nice enough to put everything on two plate for us. Kudos. The bread was really good as well. The pretzel app and the kids meal got lost in the kitchen somehow and came out much later than our food. I didn't want to eat in front of a kid and her not having food. Our pretzel showed up next and still no kids meal. The pretzel was really tasty. The kids meal finally showed up and the chicken was really huge. She said it was good. I love German potato salad and could eat that for days. I would recommend the wurst platter but be prepared to wait. If you're not in a hurry it's a good place to eat. It's really cute inside as well. We liked this place ok. It's not the best German food we've ever had...not even close but it was decent. The server was slow and seemed to suffer from a very bad memory. She got a lot of things wrong and took forever to get anything to our table. Someone in our party ordered the steak salad. The steak was extremely tough and mostly fat. Our first batch of bread was brunt, so that wasn't the best, but the second bucket was soft and fresh. I didn't like the spartzel as much and my friends were not into the German potato salad as much because of its sour undertones (though that's why I liked it). Highlights: pork crackling was amazing. So I have a love of Eastern European food. It's been tough since my go to of Sokolowskis closed. (RIP). So I have been finding places to fill the void. This is one of those places. After living right around the corner for almost 10 years, we finally decided to try this place. Hostess was super nice and let us choose our table. Service was a little slow- not sure if it was just our waitress, but at least 3 other tables with double the amount of people as us were sat after us and left at at least 20 minutes before us. Food was ok but nothing out of this world. My chicken paprikash wasn't too bad. Homemade bread was amazing! We spent about $70 on 2 dinners and an appetizer and in my opinion, wasn't worth it. Before I write the review I must say the server was 5-stars. She was quick and very friendly. That said, unfortunately the food is the problem. While the order of German potato salad was good, I must say the Wiener schnitzel was dry and very tough. That was the least of it. The cabbage and noodles actually made me dry heave when I ate it in the restaurant. Someone else ate the stuffed cabbage also thought it was disgusting. I don't know what went wrong during our visit compared to what others report, but we were rather disappointed. On a side note, I must say the beer was good as was the environment. While there were some positives, the glaring issue of the food taste, overshadowed it all. Lastly, I must provide one last shout out to the server though, she was absolutely fantastic and made what would have been an awful visit much better. read more

Visited for a weekday lunch. Seated immediately and has drinks within minutes of being seated. I was surprised at the size of the menu as I though it would have more choices. Pretty much all European food. My friend had pork schnitzel with spatzle and german potato salad and I had a wurst platter with 3 types of sausage and german potato salad. Mine came with pierogis but I subbed german potato salad without issue. The potato salad was both of our favorite part of the meal. Everything was good. Bread was really nice- crusty and warm. Only complaint was that our coffee wasn't refilled and my hot water for a cup of tea wasn't hot enough. We will likely visit again. read more

I ordered the kraut kugeln (sauerkraut balls) for my appetizer, it was crispy on the outside and the perfect balance of creamy and light acidity on the inside. I'm a big fan of these! My dinner was the jagerschnitzel with a side of spatzle and sauerkraut. The spatzle wasn't worth it, don't even bother ordering it. It's just this super plain ugly noodle that was lacking in flavor. Now that I've gotten that out of the way the kraut was okay not bad but you know, it's kraut. The pork schnitzel and mushroom gravy was really well made! Stopped by here for lunch while visiting Cleveland. Ironically we came here during the World Cup on the day that Germany was playing South Korea which worked out perfect as not only were we able to sit at the bar and watch the game but we were able to be around some of the workers who were watching and cheering on Germany as well. Despite the loss, it was the perfect place to be for it. Stepping inside it feels like you are stepping right into Germany. From the steins to the coo-coo clocks the decor is very authentic. The menu also includes many of the German favorites you would be looking for. I got the schnitzel with fried eggs on top which was authentic and delicious. I chose spaetzle as one of my sides, which was good, but I do wish they had kaese-spaetzle instead. Despite missing the cheese, the spaetzle was thick, doughy, and buttery. I also got a chicken and dumpling soup which was thick and delicious. My husband ordered the wurst platter, which included 3 different types of wurst. He got German potato salad and sauerkraut for his sides which he enjoyed. Both of the meals were off of the lunch menu, and while I felt they were just a tad pricey they were good portions sizes so overall it was good experience, I would stop by again if in the area. If you are looking for good German food and are willing to pay in the $15-$25 range for lunch, a little bit more for dinner, than this is the place for you! read more
