Upon reading other reviews and stepping into this establishment I had nothing but high hopes. Sadly these hopes were dashed almost instantaneously. With quit a crowd in attendance and no hostess to seat us, my friend an I were forced to seat ourselves at one of the many dirty tables throughout the dining room. When we finely picked the least filthy booth, the waitress discarded of all the plates and trash. However, failed to actually clean the table. When we requested the table be cleaned, the waitress returned with a soaked towel and merely left a layer of water on the table. We then had to wait a while for the table to dry. The kitchen had to remake my dish since the waitress said they messed up the order. That was fine except for the fact that they left my friend's meal sit out while they remade mine and it arrived to the table cold and soggy. The only positive about the food was the hearty vegetable soup. The rest of the food was less than desirable. The waitress was less than friendly and very unapologetic when my friend remarked about her displeasure with the meal. She spent more time chatting with a guy at the bar than she did making sure that we were taken care of. I even had to track down another waitress to get another spoon since My friend's had a huge piece of dried food on it. Cleanliness does not appear to be a big issue here either. If you look up towards the ceiling you'll notice coffee bags that they use as decoration. Look closely and you'll also notice how these have collected huge clumps of dust and bugs. The bad part is that these bags are right over where many people sit and eat. There is also a large amount of visible dust on the piping. Conveniently, located across the street from the Court house. Most entrees can be modified to be Gluten Free as indicated by a small "GF" bubble on the menu. Easy to order, quick service, and tasty nourishment. Outdoor seating available. (Some tables can be close quarters in this long but narrow restaurant). Gluten Free bread and beer... Decided to try this downtown place for a Saturday Brunch. The ambiance is trendy and takes advantage of the long, narrow edifice space well. The front has several seating tables as well as seats at the bar. There are a handful of high tops along the kitchen, and more booths and tables in the back of the restaurant. Take time to check out the many local artist photos around the walls. On our visit the place was pretty busy, almost every table filled on a Saturday around the lunch hour. Our service was "meh". I say this because I couldn't really call it friendly, inviting or helpful. We asked questions about what she would recommend, but she would not offer anything specific. So we asked specific questions about certain menus selections and again, she could not give an opinion of the product. Found this to be a bit unusual. Her behavior was actually a turn off to trying to have any type of conversation about the locale or business. I ordered the crab cake eggs Benedict with side of red skin potatoes. The hollandaise sauce was cold, like it just came out of the refrigerator. Fortunately the crab cake itself and egg were perfectly prepared, hot and tasty (enough to warm the sauce after a time). The potatoes had good flavor also. I probably should have mentioned something about the sauce temp, but did not see our server for quite some time after the meal arrived so I just ate it. I did enjoy it the flavors, but did think it would have been much better if the sauce was hot. I recommend the dish...just check the temp. My wife ordered the Eddies slop: a mixed up mess (in a good way) of eggs, bacon, green peppers, red peppers, sausage, onions, red skin potatoes, cheese. She thoroughly enjoyed this (me too when she let me try it) and would recommend it. Great food and a great new(er) place in downtown Fort Wayne. This was my first visit here, and I have to admit I was impressed. I got the Ciderhouse Burger, which was delicious. It was well cooked and the mashed red potatoes on the side were awesome. The live music was also a nice treat. The only reason I'm not giving this five stars is because of the service. Our waiter was pretty good, but I got the sense that this place struggles when they are busy. He forgot our appetizer (he admitted it, apologized, and gave it to us for free), but the kitchen and the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. The set-up also doesn't lend itself well to being busy. It was hard to get in and out of the restaurant because tables were piled on top of one another. Would I go back? Definitely. I think if this place can figure out how to handle being busy, it's a five star place in my book! read more

I regret so much that I only found Dash-In with my last week in Fort Wayne, but if I'm ever back, I will be in the Dash-In. Pro's: + In terms of well prepared casual food, Dash-In kicks serious butt. The pulled pork is tender, with the sauce and coleslaw pulling it all together. The grilled cheese is oozy and amazing, laced with flavor, and a variety of interesting vegetable combinations. + The tomato bisque is so darn good, it gets it own + + The beer selection great, and unlike JK's around the corner, is mostly draft, although they have a nice selection of bottles. + Public beer tapping for some of the best brews in the country, such as Zombie Dust. + Cellaring various beers, including a great variety of Dogfish Head. + The staff is friendly and helpful. Especially the gentlemen behind the bar with the buzz cut. He knows his beer! + Many vegan and vegetarian friendly options. + Tasty, well poured, espresso. + Walking distance from downtown hotels. + Holy bread pudding. This is by far and away the best dessert I had in Fort Wayne, and at $4 it's amazing. Con's: - The insistence on serving chips with sandwiches makes me sad. At least make them better chips. - They're closed on Sundays, and aren't open for dinner on Monday! - I have no idea where you're supposed to put your car, but there is a garage next door, and a lot of some sort? Overall, the Dash-In is one of the best places I've found for food and beer in Fort Wayne. If you're in the area, this is a must stop. At the very least, grab a pint. read more

Coffee shop + beer bar, with excellent taps, a comfortable setting, free wifi and a good, but not solely, vegetarian food menu. This is the sort of place I wish was in Bloomington, but Bloomington is far too pretentious for this. I had a beer and a cup of coffee. I came in for coffee, finding another Downtown coffee shop closed for good, but it's hard for me to resist a good tap selection. The fancy ones have accompanying fancy prices, but they have some more standard options that are cheaper. Coffee was good, not great. They have random mugs, which I always really enjoy. Mine was from an auto parts store. I did not order food. It was getting late and I needed to get back on the road, and I'm sorry I wasn't able to dine. The menu looked really good though. Lots of interesting choices. This is only the second time I've actually stopped in Fort Wayne and the second time I've been impressed but what I found. The atmosphere, menu and staff remind me of a place in Tucson that I used to love but closed a couple of years ago. I guess I need to come up more often. read more

Great bang for your buck. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is very laid back and almost hipster-like. Has some neat local artwork on the walls. I had the 'big breakfast plate' and it was only $8. My only criticism is that the food was luke warm and the cheese on my friend's grilled cheese wasn't melted all the way together. read more

Cute and funky hipster bar/lunch spot tucked away in downtown Ft Wayne. I highly recommend the portobello chicken wrap or the seared tuna salad. The cappuccino I ordered was good. Make sure to sit outside if it's nice out! They have a small patio perfect for enjoying the weather. read more

Stopped in on a whim for a weekday lunch. I liked the decor as it felt kind of hippy dippy. Service was friendly. Menu was a bit small for my tastes. Ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with a cup of the Pesto Vegetable soup. Two thumbs up! I am a soupaholic and this soup was fantastic. It had no meat but was still very flavorful. Great new business, located next to Pint and A Slice. Walked in and was immediately greeted by a friendly face who turned out to be our waiter. Draft selection is excellent and was given the opportunity to try a couple of samples of brews to make our selection. Food was great and had a city feel to it, which is nice for the location. My husband and I shared a grilled peach gorgonzola salad and a pulled pork sandwich with mango salsa and fennel slaw (I think). Very good, and we might become regulars over time. read more

one of my friends who lives in fort wayne is constantly posting pictures on facebook of the delicious looking food from dash-in, so when my boyfriend & i wound up in the fort for an art festival, i insisted we stop in to dash. for 3:30pm, there was quite a decent amount of patrons inside & out. we were greeted the second we walked in & found a seat. our waitress gave us a few minutes to look over the lunch menu & overwhelmingly large beer menu before taking our order. the boyfriend ordered the gourmet grilled cheese & tomato bisque, along with a magic hat #9. i ordered the ham & cheese melt with the tomato bisque, & shipyard's melonhead (WHICH IS AMAZING). overall, the food was delicious & the service was great! read more

Just had a breakfast with my girlfriend. The food was excellent, but IMHO, way overpriced. I ordered a breakfast sandwich. It cost extra for gluten-free bread, which brought the price of the sandwich from $6 to $9, basically extortion. The menu said that GF bread was $1.50 extra; the waitress informed me that that was for one slice - the sandwich had two slices of bread, therefore $3 extra. Our total bill for two egg sandwiches and two lattes came to $26. There are too many other options in Fort Wayne. I will not be back. read more

Contrary to others' experiences, I found the food to be excellent, the service was great, and the beer selection is not bad. I had a grilled cheese (hard to mess that up) and the tomato bisque soup. GET THE TOMATO BISQUE SOUP! It's really good. The beer selection is not super extensive, but I was pretty impressed that they had Magic Hat #9, and they also had a Kentucky bourbon ale that was super fantastic. That's what I have. This appears right." Waiter: "Yeah, but it's not. Trust me. I'll just take this back." This had been 15 minutes into our meal. My soup was half gone, as was my sandwhich. Ditto my partner. Me: "It's fine. We're fine. Thanks.A" Waiter: "Ok. But it's wrong. So if you don't like it, it's not my fault. You chose this." In case my words aren't conveying this, the entire exchange was in the most condescending tone. We finish our meal. Our original waitress comes up. Waitress: "So sorry about the mix up. How was it?" My partner: "I've had better here. The sandwhich was OK, and the soup was a bit cold. But I understand there was a mix up so no big dea--" Waiter from TWO TABLES AWAY: "That's because you wouldn't turn it in! It's your fault you didn't like the sandwich! I could've given you warm soup so this isn't my fault!" *Storms off to the kitchen. Seriously? Get a control over your waitstaff. Dash In is easily one of my favorite places in town! My friends and visiting love their beers, hummus appetizer, grill cheeses, and burgers. They also have live music, show case local artists on their wals, and just have a wonderful atmosphere! My personal favorites are their hot chocolate (white an dark mix with mint), Italian sodas, salads, portobello Swiss 1/2 burger, and sashimi tuna. They do beer tasting events too which are a lot fun! I'll start off by saying the beer selection is fantastic. They have 5 gallon kegs, therefore they are always having new beers on tap and they have about 16 taps I believe? So there is always a great variety of beers to try, and they're all micro brewed beers. If you want a basic mass produced beer, they have some in a can or bottle for you too. The food is delicious, and is presented very well. Meaning when it's served to you, it's very presentable and makes you want to tear into it! If you have never been there before, I recommend you start with a grilled cheese. You may think, why on Earth would you eat a grilled cheese to start with? Well, because they are not your basic grilled burnt looking piece of chunk that you would make at home. It comes on a nicely toasted side of bread, and have 8 different types of grilled cheese sandwiches to choose from with a variety of other toppings added to it. I've had 3 or 4 different ones already and I've enjoyed everyone of them. They have coffee and many coffee type drinks there, but I have not had any coffee there yet, but from the smell of it, I'm sure it's good, but that will have to be on you to try the coffee. Maybe someday, I'll order a coffee instead of a beer, but with so many beers on tap, beer always wins that battle and I've always been there in the evenings. Not prime coffee time for me. The atmosphere of the place is nice and they feature local art on display and you can even buy the art that they hang up! But be prepared to shell out a few dollars. Art isn't cheap! So if you live in town here and haven't been, then go check this place out as I think it will be another restaurant added to your rotation of places to go in this town. read more

The menu looks delicious with a various array of cheeses, items with spinach feta hummus artichoke, and meat stuff if you like that But oh, this a is also a bar (and coffeehouse apparently). Although the beer and service was fantastic, I was accidentally charged $4,300.00 instead of $43.00 a few days later not only did Marshall and Sheila. Handle it expediently, they handled it with class, paying all charges and sending a gift card as well. Thanks a lot, I will definitely go back. My husband and I stopped in for dinner based on the 4star rating. The artichoke dip was tasty but it lacked artichoke. We were very disappointed in the falafel sandwich and traditional burger. The sandwich lacked taste and the burger was mushy and greasy. The kettle chips and asian slaw were decent. The beer and outdoor seating were nice but could use some ambience. Went here for lunch with some friends. Good atmosphere, friendly wait staff, decent beer selection and great selection of vegan/vegetarian friendly food. Had the Ahi Tuna po-boy and pesto soup. I wasn't overly impressed with the soup, but I'll readily admit I'm picky when it comes to pesto. My tuna was cooked to a perfect medium (how I wanted it) and delicious.
